2009-2010

Avery felt like something was very wrong. Tony always called her when he was finished with a trip, but she never received that call. She tried to call Pepper, Happy, and Rhodey but no one answered. She had been in London with Siri and Rem, Tony hadn't wanted her alone while he was gone, but he was supposed to let her know when he was headed to her. Tony always called.

Sirius and Remus watched their goddaughter closely, they knew she was on edge and wouldn't take it well if something had happened. They all felt relief when her phone finally rang, but that didn't last.

"Rhodey, where is my husband?"

The two men had begun to move closer when they noticed how pale she had gone. They had barely caught her when her legs went out from under her. Whatever she'd been told, they knew it wasn't good.

Remus took the phone from her hand and spoke with Rhodey while Sirius moved her to the couch. When he hung up, he joined the other two and gripped Avery's free hand. "Rhodey doesn't think Tony's dead," the sob that tore through his cub as heart wrenching. "He thinks Tony was taken and promised to keep us updated."

The two men made a promise to keep a close eye on her until the call came. They knew Avery would lose it if Tony wasn't found alive, they could only hope he was found soon.

~~~
For three months, Avery searched for her husband. She had only been given a general location of where the convoy was attacked, and Rhodey wouldn't give her any information. She had taken an extended leave from the DOM, nothing was more important that finding her husband.
Sirius and Remus made sure to stay with her constantly, they were just as worried about Avery as they were Tony. When she would take off to search, they always went with her, despite her protests.
~~~

Avery had been sleeping when the call came in from Rhodey. Sirius had taken the phone when she returned that morning, hoping she would be able to get a little bit of sleep. Noticing the name on the screen, he answered, "Tell me you have something."

"We found him," Rhodey replied, "He's being taken to a military hospital in Germany before heading back to California."

"Give me the address, I'll make sure Avery's there when he arrives."

"Civilians aren't," Rhodey began before being cut off.

"I don't give a shit! Avery has been a mess for months without her husband, so you can either give me the address or I will make your life a living hell!"

Sirius hung up once Rhodey caved and rushed upstairs to wake his goddaughter. Sirius wanted to let her sleep but knew she needed her husband more.

"Fawn," he softly shook her. When her red and tired eyes finally focused on him, he gave her a small smile, "they found him."

~~~
Tony needed to see his wife, he didn't even want to think of what she'd gone through. The thought of making it home to her was the only think that kept him going. Seeing Rhodey as he was air lifted to the hospital, he asked, "Where is Avery?"
"She's probably waiting for us to land."
Tony sees a look cross his friends face, "What? Is she okay?"
Rhodey sighed, "She's not been doing well with your absence. Tony, she's skin and bones, her uncles have had to force feed her and make her sleep. She's spent three months looking everywhere for any sign of you."
Tony knew his friend was telling the truth, both he and Pepper knew the truth about Avery. "Shit," he sighed, "can this chopper move any faster? I need to see my wife."
~~~

Avery couldn't sit still, she was pacing the waiting room of the military hospital. She knew Siri and Rem had been worried about her, but she knew she would be better once she finally seen her husband.

The hospital staff began to rush around, the EVAC that was carry Tony was landing. As the staff rush out to the heli-pad, Avery began to move towards the door. She watched, as if in slow motion, as they started to exit the helicopter. Her legs began to move without her permission, and she took off towards Tony.

She could finally see him, he looked so skinny and beat to hell. When the doctors had him secured to the gurney and began to move, his eyes met hers. "Tony," she sobbed.

Tony's eyes found his wife's, he could barely move but put his all into pulling her to him, "Avery," he sighed into her hair.

She kissed him through the tears, "Never again, you can never do something like this to me ever again!"

As they enter the hospital, Avery is pulled into Sirius and Remus arms as they took Tony back. "Everything will be alright now fawn."

~~~
Avery was passed out in the chair that sat right next to Tony's hospital bed. The doctors were intimidated by the device in Tony's chest, so they fixed the rest that they could. Tony had told her everything that he could remember but wouldn't tell anyone else. They were just waiting for him to be released so Avery could finish healing him.
Sirius and Remus had gone for coffee while the two slept. When they returned, both were still sleeping. Sirius knew fawn would be going with Tony when he headed back to California, he and Remus would be as well.
Tony shifted on the bed, feeling the hand in his, he opened his eyes to find his sleeping wife. Sighing, he noticed how exhausted and gaunt she looked. Looking the room over, he noticed Sirius and Remus, "How bad was it?"
"She was a mess, wouldn't eat or sleep unless we forced her to." Remus replied.
"Thank you for keeping her together." Tony leaned back onto the pillow.
"You don't have to thank us, Tony, that's what family does, but your family too." Sirius smirked, "When you go back to California, we're coming too."
~~~

Avery helped Tony get dressed while they waited on his release papers. They were heading to California, and her husband was going to call a press conference. She knew what he planned and agreed wholeheartedly, but she knew it was going to cause problems. She also wouldn't be separated again.

Pepper and Happy were waiting for them when they exited the jet. Avery had spoken to Pepper a lot over the time Tony was missing and was thankful for the other woman. They made a stop at the drive thru before the press conference, Tony had been craving a cheeseburger.

Avery wasn't sure why, but Obidiah made her skin crawl. She had never like him and thought him shady as hell, thankfully Siri and Remy felt the same. While Tony was talking to the press, a man approached Pepper and told her they needed to speak with Tony about what happened. Avery remained silent and took in the information Agent Coulson was sharing with Pepper.

When Tony dropped the bombshell that he was removing Stark Industries from weapons, the room exploded with questions. They had known his decision would cause problems, company stock would inevitably plummet, but when they seen what he had planned, it would be successful.

Tony headed towards Avery, he needed to get away from all of these people. He just wanted to go home and spend time with his wife. Since they were in public and still not sure who took him, he motioned for her to meet him. Tony refused to put Avery in danger. Of course, Obidiah caught him before he could make his escape. Thankfully, he was easily brushed off and Tony made it to the car.

~~~
Avery hadn't wanted to leave Tony, but she needed to check in with her boss. The director had been so lenient with her being off work, she wanted to thank him. She also dreaded seeing her desk after four months off.
They had been busy in the month since Tony had been back, both were much healthier now. Tony had told her about his idea to make a suit, Sirius and Remus had been very helpful with that. The arc reactor had also been upgraded, they had to make it magic resistant, she didn't even want to think of what would happen if it ever gave out.
She still didn't trust Obidiah, he was trying to push Tony out of his own company. She had a bad feeling that he had a sinister plan for her husband.
~~~

Tony knew his wife was going to kill him, she had been right about Obi and now Tony was trying to crawl to his basement without his reactor. Of course, Obi had shown on the one day that Avery, Sirius and Remus were all out. He must have been watching the house.

Finally, he made it to the basement, but he felt as his energy gave out. Tony could see his old reactor but couldn't reach it. Hearing his phone, he knew it was his wife and tried to find the energy to answer but felt the darkness taking over.

Voicemail again, Avery felt her worry rising. Tony always answered her calls. Making her way to the floo, she called Pepper and finally got through. "Where's Tony?" Avery asked as soon as the woman answered.

"He was at home, I've sent Rhodey ahead of me to find him." Pepper paused, "Avery, Stane set Tony up. He wanted them to kill Tony."

Hearing that, Avery threw the floo powder into the fireplace and called out for the Malibu house. She hadn't even bothered turning her phone off, so it didn't fry. Coming out of the floo, she couldn't see her husband and Jarvis wasn't answering. Worry began to take over and she took off towards the lab.

Seeing Rhodey crouched, she rushed forward to find Tony pale and lying on the ground. "Oh my god!" She fell to her knees and checked him over, "Are you okay? What the hell happened?"

Tony relaxed a bit when Avery ran her hands over him, "Stane stole my reactor, he's the one who set up my kidnapping."

"I'm going to murder him." She rested her forehead on his, "What's your plan?"

"The suit, I'm going to stop him."

She nodded, the suit was safe, they had made sure. "Okay, I'll go find Pepper."

~~~
Upon finding Pepper, Avery also found the agent who had been asking about her husband. She would need to keep an eye on him.
"Avery! Oh, thank God, is Tony okay?" Pepper rushed over and hugged her.
"Yes, luckily Rhodey got there quickly." Looking around, she asked, "Any sign of Stane? I always knew he was a snake bastard."
They were headed to a secure lab, "No sign of him but I'm sure that won't last." Pepper tried using her badge to open the door, "It's not working."
"Stand back," the agent pulled the two away as another placed an explosive on the door. "Cover."
They all took cover as the door exploded and then they entered the lab. Pepper headed towards the computer while Avery looked around the room.
"Miss?" The agent approached her, staring curiously, "Can I ask why you're here?"
Avery smirked, "You can but I won't answer. I will say, we're on the same side."
The agent looked confused by her answer but was called on by Pepper.
"Somethings off, Stane should be here, so should the scientists." Pepper looked confused.
Avery heard something move and could see the large suit. Moving as quick as she could, she rushed to Pepper and the agent, popping them away just as the suit attacked, "Found him."
Pepper called Tony to warn him, and the agent stared at Avery in disbelief.
Ignoring him, Avery quickly went back for the others who were in the lab. She had just pulled out two more when Tony landed.
"Where's Stane? Pep, you and the agents need to go," turning to his wife, he asked, "Is everyone out?"
"Yeah, well at least those I knew were in there." Avery glanced to the agents, "I'm going to have to remove a memory or two."
Tony nodded, he knew she wouldn't use magic on them unless needed. "Okay, will you leave?" Seeing her glare, he knew that was a no. "Just, please stay safe."
"You too" Avery couldn't say more because Stane attacked. She watched as the two suits took off before turning to face the agents. "Might as well begin."
Agent Coulson stared, wide eyed, as the woman who had teleported him and his agents, froze them all. He watched as she removed a glowing string from both agent's heads before turning towards him. Seeing her up close, it clicked, and he knew exactly who he was looking at. Before she reached him, he managed to whisper, "I'm a squib!"
Avery froze, she stared at the agent in shock. Releasing him from her spell, she asked, "What do you know?"
"You're Avery Potter, The Girl Who Lived, The Woman Who Conquered, The Savior." Agent Coulson shuddered as her killing curse green eyes watched him. "I won't speak of this to anyone, not even my boss knows of the magical world."
"So, if I leave your memory, you won't out me to your organization? I would really hate to be hunted again." Avery watched him closely.
"I swear!" Agent Coulson agreed. "How are you here?" He was confused on her connection with Stark.
"I think we will wait for that explanation."
~~~

Tony couldn't believe that Obidiah had betrayed him so awfully. Now, the man was dead. He stood there with Avery and Pepper while Agent Coulson told them they would cover up what had actually happened. When he noticed the agent's eyes on his wife, he knew it was time to leave.

Avery healed the wounds she could while Siri and Rem brewed the potions for the ones she couldn't. She knew her husband was thinking hard about something, he had that look on his face. "What?"

Tony looked confused, "What, what?"

Chuckling, she leaned into his shoulder, "What are you thinking so hard about?"

"Agent Coulson, he was staring at you weirdly."

"Ah, yes," she nodded, "He's a squib and knows who I am."

"Does he know about us?" Tony didn't want her in danger.

She shook her head, "No, just who I am. He did ask why I as there. Luckily, he can't tell anyone who I am."

Relaxing a bit, Tony pulled her closer, "Good, I don't want you in danger."

Sirius and Remus entered with the healing potions, handing them over to Tony. Once they knew the potions had taken affect, Avery asked, "Are you going to follow whatever script Agent Coulson delivers?"

Tony had thought it over but wanted to ask her opinion. "I don't know. I don't want to hide the suit but I don't want to bring more attention or danger to us."

Moving so she was looking into his eyes, Avery gave Tony a kiss before saying, "Whatever you want, I'll be right there with you. I love you and I know you can do good with your suit. We will be just fine. If need be, we could always shock the world."

Tony smiled at her devious look. Leaning in to kiss her, "Then I'll let the world know I'm Iron Man."

I don't own it, I just like to play with the stories. Thank you all for reading!
