Avery had just exited the Ministry archives, she had been trying to put together a comprehensive family tree of Tony's family. They had found out a couple of months ago that Tony's mom was descended from a squib, and she was trying to trace the family.

As soon as she exited the Ministry, her phone began to ring. seeing it was Tony, she answered. "Hey luv, what's going on?

"Have you seen what's happening in New York?"

Confused, she said, "No, I've been in the archives all day. Tony, what's going on?"

"Loki unleashed aliens and I'm currently carrying a nuke through a wormhole he opened, into space." He explained. "I wanted to make sure you know I love you and I'm so sorry."

"Tony," she paused, choking on her tears, "I love you too but you're going to be fine. You have to be."

"I'm so sorry Avery," she heard him choke up, "If I had another way."

"I know," she quietly replied, "But you're going to be alright, and I'll meet you at the tower to prove it!" She heard the line go quiet, "Tony? Tony!"

Apperating, she landed in Grimmauld's entry and rushed to the floo. She never stopped moving until she exited in the tower and froze at the destruction. Looking around, she didn't see her husband anywhere. "Tony!" She moved over the debris, seeing a man on the ground. "You must be Loki." She bound him so he couldn't escape. Heading to the window, she barely caught herself when she seen what Tony had been talking about.

The hole began to shut, and her heart felt like it was beating out of her chest, she couldn't see Tony anywhere. Finally, she seen a glint of his suit and rushed to the edge of the tower, he wasn't slowing! Pushing as much magic as she could into her spell, she cast, "Arresto Momentum!"

She watched as his suit slowed enough for a giant green man to grab him. They were headed for the street, so she apperated to meet them.

Rushing forward, she pushed the people standing around out of the way and knelt next to him, "Tony," she released his mask, "Tony, come on, don't do this to me." Tears were running down her face.

Hulk roared, jolting Tony awake. The others stood there confused.

"Please tell me no one kissed me," Tony looked around, eyes finding bright green, "Avery."

Leaning down, she kissed him, "Don't do that ever again!"

"I'm sorry," he kissed her, "You were right."

"I told you." She gave a watery chuckle, "Care to tell me what the hell happened to our house?"

"Loki," moving to stand, he wrapped his arms around her and looked to the others, "Good job guys, let's not come in tomorrow."

"Tony, we need to handle Loki." The Captain said.

Avery smirked, "He's not going anywhere."

She did not like these SHIELD agents being in her home. Something was off about them, and they gave her the creeps. Watching one closely, she noticed he just looked like a bad guy. When he glanced towards her, she skimmed his thoughts, recoiling at what she found.

Freezing everyone in the room besides a surprised Tony, she walked over to the man who had Loki's staff.

Tony remained quiet while he watched her make a replica of the staff, putting the fake back into the agent's hand and the real one in her bag. Finished, she moved to look into multiple agents' eyes before returning to him. "Are you okay?"

"These people are dirty, we need to have a discussion about them but will do it once they are gone and can't come back." Looking to those her husband fought with, she said, "We need them to stay and to keep Loki here."

Tony nodded and told her he would take care of it.

Once everyone but the 'Avengers' had left, Avery explained to Tony what she had found. Knowing this could get dangerous, they decided to call in some extra help and would inform the rest in the morning.

Needing to cause a distraction, Tony asked, "Who wants Shawarma?"

"I could eat," Avery smiled at him before smirking at the spy, "Come on agent, you must be hungry."

Clint noticed the tension between his friend and the newcomer. "I'm lost, you two know each other?"

"Yeah, we met when she was sent to spy on my husband." Avery and Tony laughed at the others reactions.

"You're married?" Steve blurted, surprised.

"Very happily married for six years now." Tony smiled brightly.

"Wait! What about all of the girls you've been seen with over the years?" Clint blurted.

Avery waved a hand over her face and began to shuffle through her disguises, "All me."

Everyone was stunned. Bruce managed to ask, "How does SHIELD not know?"

"Because I don't allow them to know." Avery sent a glare at Natasha, "Just like none of you will be able to say anything."

Thor nodded, "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, Lady Stark!" Looking to the others, he asked, "Shall we feast?"

"How are we going to figure out if any of them are part of Hydra?" Tony asked later that night when they were alone in bed.

Avery turned to face him, "None of them are. I already checked their minds. I'm more worried about Steve, I don't know what he'll do when he finds out what I found."

Tony looked confused, "What do you mean, what did you find?"

"There's a weapon Hydra uses, but it's actually a man, the Winter Soldier. His real name is James Barnes, he was Steve's best friend who supposedly died in the war."

"Shit," he breathed, "This is going to be a mess, but we will figure it out." Kissing her, he pulled her close and laid his head down. "We will handle it tomorrow, right now I just want to sleep with my wife in my arms. I love you."

"I love you Tony, today almost ripped me apart but we will make sure it can never happen again."

Sirius and Remus were helping Avery cook breakfast when the others finally stumbled into the kitchen the next morning. Tony made sure to have coffee ready, he knew it would be needed. After introducing her godfathers to the team, they let them all enjoy breakfast before dropping the bomb on them.

Tony cleared his throat, everyone turned to him, "We need to talk with you all about some information that has come to light. We know none of you were in on it, that's why you're being told and asked to help."

Steve looked confused, "What do you mean, Tony? Has something happened?"

Standing, Avery caught Siri and Rem's eyes before looking to Steve. "When those men were here yesterday, a few of them put me on edge. With my magic, I can enter someone's mind and see who they truly are." She could see that made them uneasy, "Now, I don't normally do that because I feel it goes against someone's rights but if I feel my family is in danger, I will do it. What I found," she shook her head and just blurted it out, "Hydra's not gone and they've infiltrated SHIELD, they've been there since the beginning."

Natasha and Clint tried to argue but Steve held her eyes and could see she wasn't lying. Finally, he asked, "There's more, isn't there?"

Nodding, she quietly said, "James Barnes is still alive, Hydra is using him as a weapon. He's now known as the Winter Soldier."

Steve paled and so did Natasha. "I've had an encounter with the Winter Soldier, unless they've found a way to keep him young, there's no way it's the same person."

"I wasn't able to dig that deep but that man, the one who was in charge, he's a part of Hydra. If we could find a way to get him here, I could find out everything we would need." Avery glanced to her godfathers who nodded they would help. "There's one more thing I want to do," she looked to Thor, "I want to speak with Loki before you take him home."

Thor had wondered why Tony had wanted Loki to be kept in the tower and not leave with SHIELD. Nodding, he agreed. "If you can get him to speak with you, I'm fine with that."

Tony couldn't help but glare at Loki, he might be shackled and beat to hell but still. Seeing his wife and her godfathers enter the room, he couldn't help but smirk, they would get answers from him, Norse God or not.

Sitting across from Loki, Avery slid him a glass of water and a plate of breakfast. "We didn't get to introductions yesterday, I mean, you did throw my husband out a window but let's move past that before I do the same to you."

Loki perked up, "You're married to Stark?"

She smiled, "We've been happily married for six years. Now, I'm not doing what I really want to out of respect for Thor, who is a giant teddy, but I was hoping you would speak with me."

"And tell me, why would I speak with you, a mere human?" He sneered.

Avery smirked, "A mere human? And here was me thinking you would have sensed it," she put her bag on the table and summoned the staff. "How about we chat about this."

He gaped, "You're a witch?" She nodded and he looked to Siri and Rem who both nodded. "I haven't met a witch in centuries."

"We're good at hiding." She shrugged, "Now, will you tell me about how this staff came to be in your possession? We can tell there's something off with it, Hydra seemed to have plans for it."

"The staff was given to me by a titan." Loki answered. "He plans to collect the infinity stones and then rule."

Tony held Avery while the others watched the recording of her talking with Loki. He wasn't sure what they were going to do, there had to be a way to stop this Thanos, he just hoped they would figure it out in time. She had gotten Loki to tell her everything, three hours' worth of information. All of that on top of the Hydra and Steve's friend, they were going to be busy for a bit.

Sirius moved next to them, "Fawn, we might need some back up. If SHIELD is corrupt, they won't be of help, and we're going to need help."

"I know," she nodded, "I just want to make sure we have a plan first. I think we should handle Hydra and get Steve's friend first, then we can deal with this titan."

"We're going to have to take down SHIELD too, there's no saving it." Remus added.

Steve seemed to be finished watching the video, he came to stand with them. "I'm in for whatever you need. I know Fury has plans for me, but I won't follow them, not while Hydra is there."

Tony clapped him on the back, "Good. Now we just need to get the spies on board. I'm shocked Loki offered to help, Thor should be back soon with an answer from his father." They had sent him off without Loki and hoped the All-Father would see sense in what had actually happened. Avery had also been sure to keep the tesseract, she'd been able to send Thor back with its power and gave him a way to return. They knew it would probably cause problems but didn't care at this point.

They may have gotten off to a rough start, but Avery and Natasha shockingly worked well together. Fury hadn't been happy about three of his agents going awol, but none cared. If the pirate wanted to speak with them, he could come to the tower and Avery would make sure he was on their side.

Right now, Natasha was playing lookout while Avery was trying to lure the creepy Hydra agent into her trap. She knew her display was catching his eye. Her husband hadn't been happy with the plan, he didn't want anyone to think they had a chance with her, but he knew how dangerous she could be. Plus, Sirius and Remus were there as backup.

"Incoming," Nat warned her through the comms. Avery made sure to stumble a bit, the creep was there to catch her arm.

"Woah, maybe you should slow down." Rumlow smiled at her, looking her up and down.

Avery looked up and batted her lashes, "Maybe, I was just celebrating and should probably head home."

"Ah, what were you celebrating?"

"A promotion. I had to come alone though, family lives out of state." She slurred her words a bit.

"I can walk you home, wouldn't want you to be out there alone in this state." Rumlow was giving her a weird look.

"Oh, no I couldn't impose. I'm sure you're here with someone." She tried to look at the table he'd been at.

He smirked, "They would understand. Can't let a beautiful woman like you walk in this city alone."

Avery nodded and let him lead her out of the bar. They had only walked a block when they came upon the ally where Sirius and Remus were waiting with Natasha.

It seemed Rumlow thought it a good spot to try and pull her into as well because he checked the area, to make sure no one was watching and began to lead her down the ally.

"My apartment's not this way," she stumbled a bit, but he held her around the waist and kept pulling her.

"We'll make it there, just need to do this first."

As soon as they were out of the streetlights, Rumlow pushed her against a brick wall and moved in to try and kiss her. She didn't want his nasty lips anywhere near her, so she began to put up a fight.

Luckily, she only had to play the damsel for a minute because Siri and Rem knocked him out. Even though they had planned it, Avery could see the gold bleeding through Rem's eyes and moved to reassure him.

Natasha appeared out of nowhere, "Nice job. God, he's such a creep." She sneered down at the knocked-out man.

"Yeah," Avery nodded, "And Merlin, he smells like b.o." They all gave a bit of a chuckle before throwing him in the trunk.

Tony hated that she had used herself as bait for that creep. He didn't want anyone to touch his wife besides him. Avery was such a sweet and loving woman, he had been blessed when she said yes to marrying him and he would never take that for granted.

After they had locked up the Hydra agent in Loki's old prison, they all headed off to bed. Tony watched as his wife washed her face, she was so beautiful, and she was all his. When she had told him how the night went, he couldn't help but want to go down and break that creeps' hands for putting them on her.

He moved to sit on the bed while she was changing into her pajamas, he leaned against the headboard and waited.

Avery knew Tony hadn't been pleased that she was the 'bait', but they couldn't use Natasha, Rumlow knew her. Seeing how her husband had reacted when they told him everything, she knew he wasn't happy.

After she finished getting ready for bed, she exited their closet and crawled on the bed, moving to sit on his lap. "You know nothing would have happened to me, I wouldn't let it, and neither would Siri or Rem. Hell, I even think Natasha would have stopped him."

He moved his hands to rest on her hips, "I know." He sighed, "Doesn't mean I don't want to go down there and beat his face in for even thinking of you that way."

She smiled and leaned in, kissing him. Avery could feel him react to her kiss, she was sitting on the evidence. Still kissing him, she slowly rotated her hips and smirked at his groan. Feeling his hands tighten on her waist, she began to move in earnest.

Tony slid one of his hands up to her neck, holding her to him, while the other moved lower. Feeling that she had forgone underwear, he groaned before sliding his fingers between them. Her movements above him stuttered as he slid two fingers into her hot core and began to move them, using his thumb on her clit.
