Ritchie's Battle Frontier Arc
Chapter 2: The Battle Factory! Ritchie vs Noland!
Hello everyone, in this chapter the group will reach the Battle Factory where Ritchie hopes to get his first Frontier Symbol. I hope you all enjoy it!
The chapter begins 2 days after the last chapter ended and it's currently nighttime. During the past 2 days it's been pretty relaxing for the group as they continue heading for the Battle Factory. Ritchie also got to see more of the Pokémon that Verity and Sorrel have. One of the Pokémon that Sorrel has is a Pokémon called an Ursaluna which is the fully evolved form of Ursaring and is a Normal/Ground type. Ritchie was surprised to see the mon as he's never seen one before. Marshadow also continues to stay hidden in Ritchie's shadow making sure that it's not seen until it feels ready to show itself. We now zoom in on the group of 3 who continue to walk forward as Verity speaks.
"So, how long until we reach the Battle Factory?" Verity asks as Ritchie speaks.
"Scott told me that it's somewhere in this area and we should be seeing a big building soon" Ritchie responds with Verity nodding as they continue to walk Sparky's ears perk up as Ritchie speaks.
"Is something wrong Sparky?" Ritchie asks as before the mon can respond they all hear something and see an Ice Beam shooting up high in the air in the distance as Verity speaks.
"What's that?!" Verity asks as Sorrel speaks.
"It sounded like a Pokémon and it's most likely in trouble" Sorrel says as Ritchie speaks.
"Let's go see" Ritchie says with the other two nodding as they run forward. A couple minutes later they've made it to where they heard the screaming came from and are now hiding in the bushes. They look forward and see an Articuno laying on the ground groaning in pain with a net wrapped around its body and 3 men (in blue outfits) are looking at it as Verity speaks.
"It's an Articuno" Verity says while she along with the other two have surprised looks on their faces Sorrel then recomposes himself and speaks.
"And it looks like it was captured by those 3 men" Sorrel says as Ritchie gets a determined look on his face and speaks.
"Let's go save it" Ritchie says with the two trainers nodding as they walk forward. Meanwhile over with the 3 men they have smiles on their faces as grunt 1 speaks (I'm going to refer to them as grunts 1, 2 and 3).
"I can't believe how easy it was to get an Articuno" Grunt 1 says as 2 speaks.
"The boss is going to be happy about this" 2 says with the other two nodding as they then hear a voice.
"Hey!" The voice says causing the 3 men to turn around as they see Ritchie, Verity and Sorrel having serious looks on their faces as 3 speaks.
"Oh, it's just a bunch of kids." 3 says as 2 speaks.
"What do you want?!" 2 asks as Ritchie speaks.
"We're here to save Articuno!" Ritchie responds as Verity speaks.
"Yeah, so you Pokémon Hunters better let it go!" Verity says as 1 speaks.
"Pokémon Hunters?" 1 says as Sorrel speaks.
"Isn't that who you are?" Sorrel asks as 2 speaks.
"While it's true that we steal Pokémon but we're not your typical Pokémon Hunters as we're from a team" 2 says as 3 speaks.
"And our team name is Team Aqua, so you better remember it" 3 says as Verity speaks.
"Team Aqua? I've never heard of them before" Verity says with Sorrel thinking the same as over with Ritchie he feels as though he's heard that name before then remembers and speaks.
"I remember now" Ritchie says as Verity speaks.
"You know them?" Verity asks as Ritchie speaks.
"Not personally but when I was doing my training back in Littleroot Town, I began to hear rumors of an evil team called Team Aqua going around stealing people's Pokémon and I think there was another group who called themselves Team Magma." Ritchie responds with Verity and Sorrel nodding as Sorrel speaks.
"So, not only are they hunters but thieves as well" Sorrel says with the others nodding as Ritchie speaks.
"I heard that they were only sighted in the Hoenn region, but it looks like they've started to appear in the Kanto region too." Ritchie says as 1 speaks.
"That's right and the mission our boss gave us was to capture an Articuno and now that we've got it, we're taking it back with us" 1 says as over with Articuno the mon is groaning in pain as the net is shocking it Ritchie then speaks.
"Not if we have anything to say about it!" Ritchie says as he along with Verity and Sorrel get their Pokeball's ready 1 speaks.
"You kids are brave in thinking you can take us on, so we'll teach you a lesson" 1 says with 2 and 3 agreeing with him as they pull out their Pokeballs and throw them forward. 3 sends out a Walrein, 2 sends out a Tentacruel, and 1 sends out a Crawdaunt. The 3 mons look forward and have serious looks on their faces as Verity speaks.
"Their Pokémon look strong" Verity says as Ritchie speaks.
"They may be strong, but we'll take them down" Ritchie says with Verity and Sorrel nodding as they throw their Pokeball's forward and send out their Pokémon. Verity sends out a Golduck, Sorrel sends out his Ursaluna, and Ritchie sends out a Dhelmise that's named Anchor. The 3 mons look forward having serious looks on their faces as 1 speaks.
"Let's go boys! Crawdaunt use Hydro Pump!" 1 calls as his Crawdaunt fires the move. 2 along with 3 call for their Pokémon to use Hydro Pump too as they head for the 3 mons Sorrel speaks.
"Thunder Punch!" Sorrel calls. Ursaluna nods as it covers its right fist in electricity and punches the combined Hydro Pump easily destroying it. The 3 grunts have surprised looks on their faces but then quickly recompose themselves as 2 speaks.
"Tentacruel use Waterfall on Ursaluna!" 2 calls with the mon nodding as it covers its body in water and shoots forward heading for Ursaluna as Verity speaks.
"Golduck stop it with Psychic!" Verity calls. Golduck nods as it quickly fires out the waves of psychic energy and stops Tentacruel in its tracks. Tentacruel tries to break free from the move as Verity speaks.
"Now use Psybeam!" Verity calls. Golduck's eyes glow and fires out a psychic beam that heads for Tentacruel as 1 speaks.
"Crawdaunt intercept it with Night Slash!" "Anchor use Energy Ball!" Both trainers call. Crawdaunt covers its pincers in dark energy and goes to destroy the Psybeam, but Anchor quickly fires out a grassy ball that makes contact with the mon sending it a few feet away. This allows for the Psybeam to hit Tentacruel creating an explosion as 2 speaks.
"Tentacruel!" 2 calls in worry as when the smoke clears it reveals Tentacruel laying on its back knocked out. 2 has a surprised look on his face as 3 speaks.
"Walrein use Blizzard!" 3 calls with Walrein nodding as when it goes to use the move Sorrel speaks.
"Dig Ursaluna!" Sorrel calls as out from underneath Walrein appears Ursaluna who upper cuts Walrein with its left claws causing damage to the mon as Sorrel speaks.
"Now use Supercell Slam!" Sorrel calls with Ursaluna nodding as it covers its body in electricity, jumps forward and hits Walrein creating an explosion. When the explosion clears it showcases Ursaluna looking at an unconscious Walrein surprising 3 as 1 speaks.
"Crawdaunt use Crabhammer on Ursaluna!" 1 calls with the Lobster nodding as it covers its pincers in water and jumps forward going to hit Ursaluna as Ritchie speaks.
"Oh no you don't! Anchor use Anchor Shot!" Ritchie calls with the mon nodding as it shoots its anchor forward that wraps around Crawdaunt before it could hit Ursaluna. Crawdaunt begins trying to get out of the hold as Ritchie speaks.
"Now Anchor pull it in close then use Leaf Storm!" Ritchie calls with the mon nodding as it begins pulling Crawdaunt closer to it 1 speaks.
"Crawdaunt when you get close use Night Slash!" 1 calls with Crawdaunt nodding as it's getting closer to Anchor it covers its pincers in dark energy getting ready to hit Anchor as Ritchie speaks.
"Now Anchor!" Ritchie calls with Anchor nodding as it summons a large storm of leaves that connect with Crawdaunt causing super effective damage to the mon. Crawdaunt cries out in pain and is sent flying laying on the ground a few feet away as 1 speaks.
"Crawdaunt!" 1 calls as he looks forward and sees that Crawdaunt is knocked out. 1 along with the other grunts are surprised as Verity speaks.
"Nice we did it!" Verity says happily as Sorrel speaks.
"Now we just need to free Articuno." Sorrel says with the others nodding. Over with the grunts they return their Pokémon back to their Pokeball's as 1 speaks.
"Come on let's take Articuno and get out of here!" 1 says with the other two nodding as they quickly get in their truck and begin to drive away while taking the captured Articuno with them Verity speaks.
"They're getting away!" Verity says as Ritchie speaks.
"Let's go after them!" Ritchie says with Verity, Sorrel and their Pokémon nodding. But just when they're about to run forward they then hear a voice.
"Venusaur use Frenzy Plant!" The voice says as suddenly multiple large vines appear in front of the truck causing it to crash into them. When that happens, the 3 grunts get out of the vehicle groaning in pain as 2 speaks.
"Where'd these vines come from?" 2 asks as they then see a Venusaur and next to it is a man wearing a lab coat, a grey shirt/pants, red shoes and a red cap. The man looks at the 3 grunts and speaks.
"You 3 aren't going anywhere. Venusaur tie them up." The man says with Venusaur nodding as it shoots 3 vines forward and captures the 3 grunts restraining them. Over with the group Verity speaks.
"Wow he managed to capture all of them." Verity says as Sorrel speaks.
"As expected from a Frontier Brain." Sorrel says as Verity speaks.
"Wait he's the Frontier Brain?" Verity asks as Ritchie speaks.
"Yes, that's the Battle Factory's Frontier Brain Noland." Ritchie says as over with Noland he manages to free Articuno and speaks to it.
"Are you okay Articuno?" Noland asks with the mon nodding as it thanks Noland then flies away. Once Articuno's gone Noland looks at the 3 grunts and speaks.
"Now as for you 3 you're going away for a pretty long time." Noland says as suddenly Officer Jenny along with a few police officers arrive and take the grunts into custody. Once they're gone Noland tells Venusaur good job and returns the mon back to its Pokeball. Noland then puts the ball away, looks over at the group and speaks.
"Are you kids all right?" Noland asks with the group nodding, making Noland happy as he speaks.
"You know before I intervened, I watched you 3 battle those grunts and was impressed by your skills." Noland says with the group saying thank you as Ritchie then walks up to Noland and speaks.
"My name's Ritchie I come from Littleroot Town in the Hoenn region and I'm here to challenge you to a battle." Ritchie states while having a serious look on his face. Noland looks at Ritchie, smiles and speaks.
"So, you're the other trainer that Scott told me about. Okay I accept your challenge come with me my factory is nearby." Noland says with the group nodding as they return their Pokémon (other than Sparky) back to their Pokeball's and begin to follow the man. 10 minutes later the group have made it to the area as Noland speaks.
"Well, here it is the Battle Factory." Noland says as the group look forward and see a big grey building. The group have surprised looks on their faces as Verity speaks.
"Wow it's big." Verity says with Ritchie and Sorrel nodding as they then hear a voice.
"Ritchie!" The voice says causing everyone to look as they see Scott walking over to them. Once he gets close enough Ritchie gets a smile on his face as Scott speaks.
"So, you finally made it." Scott says as Ritchie speaks.
"Yeah, and my Pokémon and I are ready." Ritchie says with Sparky agreeing with him making Scott smile. Scott then looks over at Verity and Sorrel then speaks.
"And who are they?" Scott asks as Ritchie speaks.
"Oh, these two are Verity and Sorrel they're my traveling companions." Ritchie says with Scott nodding as he greets them with the two kids greeting him back as Noland speaks.
"So, Ritchie do you know the rules for the Battle Factory?" Noland asks as Ritchie speaks.
"Yes, I read that you allow trainers to use rental Pokémon that you've personally trained to challenge you so that you can see how well trainers are at using Pokémon that aren't their own." Ritchie responds with Noland nodding as he speaks.
"You're right about that come inside I'll let you choose what 6 Pokémon you want to use." Noland says as Ritchie speaks.
"Actually, Noland I was hoping to not use any rental Pokémon for my battle against you." Ritchie says surprising everyone as Noland speaks.
"What's your reasoning?" Noland asks as Ritchie speaks.
"You see during these past 4 months my Pokémon and I have been training hard for this challenge against the Battle Frontier, and I feel it wouldn't be fair to not use them for this battle. I know that this is against the rules, but can I please use the Pokémon that I've trained?" Ritchie asks. Noland looks at Ritchie along with Sparky and can tell that they've both trained a lot. Noland then gets a smile on his face and speaks.
"Sure, I don't mind. Besides I'm also curious in seeing just how strong your Pokémon are too." Noland says making Ritchie happy as he speaks.
"Thank you!" Ritchie says happily with Noland nodding as he speaks.
"Now as for our battle it's going to be a 6v6 single battle and will begin in 30 minutes it'll give us both time to choose the Pokémon that we want to use in this battle. There's a phone and transport machine over there where you can switch out your Pokémon and when you are done come to the battlefield that's inside the factory, where I'll be waiting." Noland says with Ritchie nodding as after that Noland along with Scott leave the kids and head into the Battle Factory. Once they're gone, Verity speaks.
"So, Ritchie do you have an idea on what Pokémon you're going to use?" Verity asks as Ritchie speaks.
"Yeah, I've done a lot of research on the type of Pokémon that Noland uses so I know the 6 mons that I'm going to use for this battle and one of them is Sparky, so I need the other 5." Ritchie says with Verity and Sorrel nodding as they then walk over to the video phone, where Ritchie calls Prof. Birch and begins to talk to him about what Pokémon he wants. After Ritchie gets the 5 mons he spends the next 30 minutes doing some last minute training making sure that they're ready. Then once the training's done he returns the mons other than Sparky back to their Pokeball's and he along with Sorrel and Verity walk inside the building. Inside the building we see Ritchie and Noland on their sides of the battlefield while Verity, Sorrel and Scott are in the stands watching the battle. Noland then looks at Ritche and speaks.
"So, I take it that you've the 6 mons that you're going to use?" Noland asks as Ritchie speaks.
"Yep, and they're all ready." Ritchie says with Sparky agreeing with him and making Noland smirk. A couple seconds later the ref appears and takes his position as Noland looks at him and speaks.
"Open the roof" Noland says with the ref nodding as he presses a button that opens the roof of the building showcasing the clear blue sky as Verity speaks.
"I didn't know that the roof could open." Verity says as Sorrel speaks.
"This'll give whatever flying types they use more room to fly." Sorrel says with Verity nodding as Scott speaks.
"Looks like they're starting." Scott says as back on the battlefield the ref begins to speak.
"This is a full 6v6 single battle between the Frontier Brain Noland against the challenger Ritchie from Littleroot Town. Only the challenger is allowed to make substitutions and whoever defeats all of their opponents Pokémon first will be declared the winner! Do both trainers understand?" The ref asks with Ritchie and Noland nodding as the ref speaks.
"Now will both trainers please send out your first Pokémon!" The ref says as Noland pulls out a Pokeball and speaks.
"Here's my first one. Manectric Go!" Noland says as he throws the ball forward and sends out a Manectric. When the mon appears, it has a serious look on its face and is waiting for its opponent as Ritchie speaks.
"So, he's using his Manectric first then I'll go with." Ritchie says to himself as he pulls out a Pokeball and speaks.
"Tundra, Go!" Ritchie says as he throws the ball forward and sends out a Beartic. When the mon appears, he has a serious look on his face and lets out a mighty roar. Tundra looks at Manectric with the mon looking at him as up in the stands Scott speaks.
"The first battle is going to be between Beartic and Manectric huh? This should be interesting." Scott says to himself as Verity speaks.
"Go Ritchie and Tundra!" "Pip!" Verity along with her Piplup (who came out of its Pokeball) let out a cheer while Sorrel continues to watch. Back on the battlefield Noland looks at Tundra and speaks.
"Your Beartic looks strong Ritchie I'm interested to see how it'll fair against my Manectric." Noland says as Ritchie speaks.
"You'll see soon enough. Tundra get ready!" Ritchie says with Tundra nodding as he along with Manectric get into battle stances the ref speaks.
"Now that both trainers have sent out their first Pokémon let the battle begin!" The ref calls as Noland speaks.
"I'm taking the first move Ritchie. Manectric use Thunder!" Noland calls. Manectric sparks its body and lets out a roar firing out a large electric bolt that heads for Tundra as Ritchie speaks.
"Tundra dodge then use Earthquake!" Ritchie calls with Tundra nodding as he quickly jumps to the left easily evading the electric bolt. Tundra then stomps his right foot hard on the battlefield causing it to shake as Noland speaks.
"So, it knows Earthquake huh? Well, it won't work on us. Manectric jump in the air then use Thunder again!" Noland calls with Manectric nodding as it quickly jumps in the air avoiding the attack. Manectric begins to spark its body again and is about to launch another Thunder as Ritchie speaks.
"Okay Tundra use Hail!" Ritchie calls with Tundra nodding as he lets out a mighty roar making the once clear blue sky cloudy as hail begins to come out of it. The Hail instantly makes contact with Manectric causing damage to the mon as Noland speaks.
"Manectric ignore the Hail and fire off the Thunder!" Noland calls with Manectric nodding as it lets out a mighty roar and fires out the large electric bolt that heads for Tundra as Ritchie speaks.
"Tundra counter with Ice Beam then hide in the hail!" Ritchie calls. Tundra nods as he instantly fires out the icy beam from his mouth that collides with the Thunder creating an explosion. After that Tundra then hides in the Hail as Manectric lands back on the battlefield, it takes some Hail damage and begins trying to look for Tundra as Ritchie speaks.
"Use Earthquake!" "Manectric jump to dodge!" Both trainers' call. Hidden in the Hail Tundra causes the battlefield to shake again, making Manectric jump back into the air and dodge the attack as Ritchie speaks.
"Now Tundra use Superpower!" Ritchie calls as suddenly Tundra appears in front of Manectric surprising the mon. Before Noland can call for a command Tundra gains a red outline, bulks up his body and punches Manectric hard in the face with his right fist sending the mon crashing back down on the battlefield creating a dust cloud as Noland speaks.
"Manectric!" Noland calls in worry as when the dust clears Manectric's laying on its stomach groaning in pain but then stands back up and looks at Tundra as Noland speaks.
"Manectric use Thunder!" "Dodge Tundra and hide back in the Hail!" Both trainers' call. Manectric lets out a roar and fires out a large electric bolt that heads for Tundra, but the ice bear easily evades the attack, lands back on the ground and hides back in the Hail. Up in the stands Verity speaks.
"Tundra's doing a great job at evading Manectric's attacks." Verity says as Sorrel speaks.
"Yes, and it's all thanks to Tundra's Snow Cloak ability which increases his evasion while Hail is active." Sorrel says as Scott speaks.
"I see so Ritchie's plan is to have Tundra evade Manectric's attacks letting it take Hail damage and then strike Manectric with a powerful move like Superpower. But while this is a smart plan Noland will find a way to deal with it." Scott says with the two kids nodding. Back on the battlefield Noland has also figured out Ritchie's plan and speaks.
"Manectric use Discharge!" Noland calls. Manectric sparks its body and lets out a mighty roar firing out multiple electric bolts that go everywhere as Ritchie speaks.
"Tundra counter with Blizzard!" Ritchie calls. Hidden inside the Hail Tundra sees a few electric bolts coming and lets out a roar summoning a big Blizzard that collides with the electric bolts creating an explosion. This causes Tundra to appear out of the explosion making Noland and Manectric look at the mon as Noland speaks.
"Manectric use Fire Fang!" Noland calls. Manectric takes some Hail damage then covers its teeth in fire and begins running forward heading for Tundra as Ritchie speaks.
"Tundra quick use Earthquake!" "Manectric jump then use Volt Switch!" Noland calls. Tundra quickly stomps his feet on the ground causing it to shake and head for Manectric. Manectric quickly jumps in the air avoiding the attack then sparks its body and fires out an electric ball that connects with Tundra causing damage to him and allowing for Manectric to go back into its Pokeball. Once Manectric disappears a Camerupt takes its place surprising Ritchie as Noland speaks.
"Now Camerupt use Sunny Day then Lava Plume!" Noland calls. Camerupt lets out a mighty roar summoning the bright sun that easily gets rid of the Hail. Camerupt's body heats up and sends out a wave of scarlet flames that heads for Tundra as Ritchie speaks.
"Tundra block!" Ritchie calls with Tundra nodding as he quickly brings up his arms and begins to block the attack. As Tundra's blocking the flames are burning his arms making it difficult for him to hold on as a couple seconds later the flames knock Tundra's arms away and begin to burn the mon making him cry out in pain as Ritchie speaks.
"Tundra!" Ritchie calls in worry as there's then an explosion. When the explosion clears it showcases Tundra groaning in pain as Ritchie speaks.
"Tundra are you okay?!" Ritchie asks with Tundra nodding as a couple seconds later his body then becomes consumed in flames making the mon cry out in pain and making Ritchie grit his teeth while Noland smiles. Up in the air Sorrel speaks.
"Noland knew that Manectric wasn't going to beat Tundra, so he drew out Tundra with Discharge then used Volt Switch to bring out Camerupt getting rid of the Hail with Sunny Day and cause super effective damage to Tundra with Lava Plume." Sorrel says as Verity speaks.
"Not only that but Tundra's now burned meaning his attack power will be cut in half and will also cause damage to him over time." Verity says as Scott speaks.
"All it took was one move and Noland was able to shut down Ritchie's strategy I'm curious to see what Ritchie will do next." Scott says as back on the battlefield Ritchie begins to think.
"So, this is what battling a Frontier Brain is like Noland was able to figure out my strategy with Tundra and easily dismantled it. Now that Tundra's burned, he's not going to last long against Camerupt so I should switch him out for now." Ritchie says to himself as he pulls out Tundra's Pokeball and speaks.
"Tundra return!" Ritchie says with Tundra nodding as he goes back into his Pokeball. Ritchie then puts the ball away as Noland speaks.
"I have to say Ritchie that strategy you used against my Manectric was pretty smart I can tell that you did a lot of research on my Pokémon. But let me tell you this no matter what strategies you figured out to use against my Pokémon I'll instantly figure them out and counter. Now who will you bring in next?" Noland says while having a confident look on his face as Ritchie pulls out his next Pokeball and speaks.
"Steel you're up next!" Ritchie says as he throws the ball forward and sends out his Aggron. When the mon appears, he lets out a mighty roar then looks at Camerupt with Camerupt looking at him. Up in the stands Verity speaks.
"Steel's his next choice?" Verity says while having a confused look on her face as Sorrel speaks.
"While it is a weird choice Steel is part rock which is super effective against Camerupt's fire typing." Sorrel says as Scott speaks.
"That may be true, but Camerupt is also part ground meaning that its ground type moves will be super effective against Steel who's both a Steel and Rock type." Scott says with Verity and Sorrel nodding. Back on the battlefield Noland speaks.
"I must say Ritchie I'm surprised by your choice but I'm confident that you have a plan, right?" Noland asks as Ritchie speaks.
"That's right I do." Ritchie responds as Noland speaks.
"Well then, I guess I better take down your Aggron before you get the chance to use it. Camerupt use Lava Plume!" Noland calls. Camerupt lets out a mighty roar and sends out a big wave of scarlet fire that heads for Steel as Ritchie speaks.
"Steel block with Stone Edge!" Ritchie calls. Steel lets out a mighty roar as he summons multiple sharp stones that create a wall blocking the scarlet flames. Noland then speaks.
"So, that's your plan but that's not going to last because the Sunny Day is up." Noland says as back on the battlefield the harsh sunlight begins to increase the flames of the Lava Plume as they begin to burn through the sharp stones. Back in the stands Verity speaks.
"Very soon that Stone Edge wall is going to be nothing but dust!" Verity says while having a concerned look on her face while over with Sorrel and Scott they see that Ritchie has a calm expression and is waiting for the Lava Plume to melt the sharp stones. Back on the battlefield the scarlet flames burn down the Stone Edge wall as Noland speaks.
"Looks like this is the end for Steel." Noland says while having a smile on his face as Ritchie smiles and speaks.
"Actually, it's not because now I get to do this. Steel use Meteor Beam!" Ritchie calls surprising Noland as Steel lets out a roar and sends out a large yellow beam from his mouth that's filled with rock energy. The attack easily gets rid of the Lava Plume and heads for Camerupt as Noland speaks.
"Camerupt quick use Protect!" Noland calls. Camerupt quickly summons a protective barrier and begins blocking the attack. As Camerupt continues to block the beam its barrier cracks more and more until it fully cracks, allowing for the beam to hit it and create an explosion as Noland speaks.
"Camerupt!" Noland calls in worry as when the smoke clears Camerupt's still standing but is groaning in pain. Up in the stands Sorrel speaks.
"I see Ritchie knew that the Lava Plume would melt through the Stone Edge and as it was doing that, he had Steel charge up a Meteor Beam to blow away the Lava Plume and damage Camerupt." Sorrel says as Verity speaks.
"Nice one Ritchie!" "Pip!" Verity along with Piplup cheer as over with Scott he has a smile on his face. Back on the battlefield Ritchie looks at Noland and speaks.
"I bet you weren't thinking that I was going to do that now huh?" Ritchie asks as Noland speaks.
"I'll admit I wasn't expecting that and if I didn't call for Protect in time that move would've done more damage to Camerupt." Noland says with Ritchie nodding as Noland continues to speak.
"Now that you've used Meteor Beam, I know for a fact that you won't use it again since it takes a while to charge meaning that it's time for us to counter. Camerupt use Eruption!" Noland calls. Camerupt heats up its body and lets out a mighty roar as it shoots out lava from its humps. The lava heads for Steel as Ritchie smiles and speaks.
"That doesn't scare us! Steel use Meteor Beam!" Ritchie calls surprising Noland along with everyone else as Steel lets out a mighty roar and fires out another yellow beam that connects with the Eruption and easily blows through it and explodes. Noland has a surprised look on his face as Ritchie speaks.
"While it's true that Meteor Beam takes a while to charge, I've trained Steel to instantly fire out another Meteor Beam soon after the first one. Unfortunately, he's still only able to do it twice but that's all we need as it left you surprised. Steel use Stone Edge!" Ritchie calls. Steel lets out a mighty roar, summons multiple sharp stones around himself and sends them at Camerupt as Noland speaks.
"Camerupt use Solar Beam!" Noland calls. Camerupt lets out a roar and fires out a big grass beam from its mouth that easily destroys the sharp stones and heads for Steel as Ritchie speaks.
"Steel block!" Ritchie calls. Steel nods as he quickly brings up his arms and begins to block the attack. As Steel's blocking the grassy beam tries to push Steel back, but the mon manages to swing out his arms and destroy the Solar Beam. Steel lets out a mighty roar as Noland speaks.
"Now Camerupt use Eruption!" Noland calls. Camerupt lets out a mighty roar and shoots out a lot of lava from its humps that head for Steel as Ritchie speaks.
"Steel use Head Smash!" Ritchie calls surprising Noland as Steel lets out a mighty roar covering his body in blue rock energy and shoots forward easily breaking through the lava. Steel keeps going until he appears in front of Camerupt Noland speaks.
"Camerupt quick use Protect!" "Do it Steel!" Both trainers' call. Before Camerupt can summon the barrier Steel manages to hit the mon causing super effective damage. Camerupt's then sent flying and lands back on the battlefield a few feet away creating a dust cloud as Noland speaks.
"Camerupt!" Noland calls in worry as when the dust clears everyone can see Camerupt lying on its right side and is knocked out. The ref makes the call.
"Camerupt's unable to battle Steel the Aggron is the winner!" The ref calls allowing for Ritchie and Sparky to cheer while Steel roars in victory. Up in the stands Verity speaks.
"Nice Ritchie and Steel got the first victory of the match!" "Pip!" Verity along with Piplup cheer as Sorrel speaks.
"Keeping Head Smash hidden was a smart move on Ritchie's part as Noland probably thought Meteor Beam was Steel's strongest rock type move." Sorrel says as Scott speaks.
"Not only that but it seems as though Steel hasn't taken any recoil damage from Head Smash meaning that its ability is Rock Head." Scott says with Sorrel and Verity nodding. Back on the battlefield Noland returns Camerupt back to its Pokeball, tells the mon thank you and to get a good rest. Noland then puts the ball away as we come over to Ritchie who's looking at Steel and speaks.
"Great job Steel I knew you could do it!" "Pika!" Ritchie along with Sparky say with Steel nodding as he smiles back at them Noland speaks.
"You got me good there Ritchie I for sure thought that Meteor Beam was Steel's strongest rock type move." Noland says as Ritchie speaks.
"Thanks, I knew that by showing off Meteor Beam it'd make you think that Steel wouldn't possibly have Head Smash." Ritchie says with Noland nodding as he speaks.
"True but I probably should have thought of that since I am a Frontier Brain. But Ritchie now that you've taken down one of my Pokémon from here on out, I'm not going to be underestimating you anymore I hope you're ready." Noland says as Ritchie speaks.
"Yes, we are!" Ritchie responds with Steel agreeing with him making Noland smile as he then gets a serious look on his face and speaks.
"Now Snorlax come out!" Noland says as he throws the ball forward and sends out a Snorlax. When the mon appears, it has a serious look on its face and looks at Steel with Steel looking at it as Ritchie begins to think.
"So, Snorlax is his next Pokémon I have the perfect Pokémon to go up against it." Ritchie says to himself as he pulls out Steel's Pokeball and speaks.
"Steel return!" Ritchie says with Steel nodding as he goes back into his Pokeball Noland speaks.
"Returning Steel huh?" Noland asks with Ritchie nodding as he speaks.
"Yep, because it's this one's turn! Lola Go!" Ritchie says as he throws the ball forward and sends out his Lopunny. When the mon appears, she looks at Snorlax then turns around to look at Sparky. Lola gets hearts in her eyes as she immediately shoots forward, grabs Sparky and begins to affectionately hug him. Noland along with everyone else have confused looks on their faces as Ritchie lets out a sigh and speaks.
"Lola, I know that you're happy to see Sparky again, but you can hug him after the battle, and you already did this 30 minutes ago when we were training." Ritchie says with Lola nodding as she places Sparky down next to Ritchie, walks back on the battlefield and looks at Snorlax with the mon looking at her as Noland speaks.
"Seems like your Lopunny likes your Pikachu a lot." Noland says as Ritchie speaks.
"Yeah, before I captured her Sparky saved her from some wild Pokémon in the Kanto Safari Zone and after that she's liked him ever since." Ritchie says with Noland nodding as he speaks.
"Well, I hope that Sparky being behind her won't distract her." Noland says as Ritchie speaks.
"We're not worried about that as once Lola's on the battlefield she focuses on winning." Ritchie says with Lola nodding as she has a serious look on her face and gets in a battle stance Noland speaks.
"Interesting. Snorlax get ready." Noland says with Snorlax nodding as it gets in a battle stance too. The two mons along with their trainers look at each other as the ref speaks.
"Let the battle continue!" The ref calls as Ritchie speaks.
"Lola run forward!" Ritchie calls with Lola nodding as she begins running forward heading for Snorlax as Noland speaks.
"Here they come Snorlax use Hyper Beam!" Noland calls. Snorlax nods as it fires out a large orange beam that heads for Lola Ritchie speaks.
"Lola dodge and get behind Snorlax!" Ritchie calls with Lola nodding as she moves to the left easily avoiding the beam. Lola continues to run then slides under Snorlax, getting behind the mon as Noland speaks.
"Snorlax use Hammer Arm!" Lola dodge and use Low Sweep!" Both trainers' call. Snorlax's right arm glows white and goes to hit Lola. Lola quickly jumps in the air dodging Snorlax's attack and does a little twirl. Lola lands back on the battlefield as Snorlax looks at her. Lola quickly kicks Snorlax's left leg with her right foot. This causes super effective damage and makes Snorlax fall forward as Ritchie speaks.
"Now use Sky Uppercut!" Ritchie calls. Before Noland can call for a command Lola jumps upward, covers her left fist in blue fighting energy and uppercuts Snorlax causing super effective damage to the mon as Noland speaks.
"Snorlax use Body Press!" "Jump Lola!" Both trainers' call. When Snorlax goes to slam its body on Lola the bunny manages to jump off Snorlax's head with her feet launching herself high into the air and causing Snorlax to hit the battlefield instead. Lola then begins heading for Snorlax as Ritchie speaks.
"Okay Lola use High Jump Kick!" Ritchie calls. Lola nods as she points her right foot forward going to hit Snorlax as Noland speaks.
"Snorlax use Metronome!" Noland calls surprising Ritchie as Snorlax turns over and is now laying on its back. Snorlax begins swaying its fingers back and forth as Ritchie speaks.
"Lola quick hit it before it's done!" Ritchie calls with Lola nodding as when she goes to hit Snorlax the mon finishes using Metronome and uses Roar. As Snorlax is roaring it stops Lola in her place as she was just inches away from hitting Snorlax and is sent back into her Pokeball. A couple seconds later Steel reappears and has a confused look on his face as Noland smiles and speaks.
"Snorlax use Earthquake!" Noland calls with Snorlax nodding as it slams its left fist hard on the battlefield causing it to shake and making contact with Steel. Steel cries out in pain from the super effective attack as Noland speaks.
"Now use Hyper Beam!" Steel counter with Meteor Beam!" Both trainers' call. Snorlax quickly fires out a large orange beam that heads for Steel. Over with Steel he sees the beam coming, quickly charges up a Meteor Beam and shoots it forward as it collides with the Hyper Beam. When the two attacks collide, they go back and forth for a little while until they create an explosion. Noland quickly calls for a command that only Snorlax can hear and when the smoke clears Ritchie along with his Pokémon look forward and see that Snorlax is gone. Up in the stands Verity speaks.
"Where'd it go?! I'm 100% confident that a Pokémon as big as Snorlax can't just disappear without anyone seeing it." Verity says with Sorrel agreeing with her while over with Scott he has a smile on his face. Back on the battlefield Ritchie takes a closer look at the battlefield, sees a hole and speaks.
"Steel quick back away!" "It's too late! Hit it Snorlax!" Both trainers' call. Before Steel can back away Snorlax appears from underneath Steel and uppercuts him with his right fist causing super effective damage. Steel groans in pain as Noland speaks.
"Now Snorlax use Hammer Arm then Hyper Beam!" "Steel look out!" Both trainers' call. Snorlax's left arm quickly glows white and punches Steel hard across the face causing super effective damage. Snorlax then takes a deep breath and fires out a point-blank Hyper Beam that consumes Steel making him cry out in pain as he's sent crashing back on the battlefield a few feet away creating a dust cloud as Ritchie speaks.
"Steel!" Ritchie calls in worry as Snorlax lands back on the ground and looks forward waiting to see the results. When the dust cloud clears everyone can see Steel lying on his back and is knocked out as the ref speaks.
"Steel the Aggron is unable to battle Snorlax is the winner!" The ref calls allowing for Noland and Snorlax to smile. Up in the stands Verity speaks.
"Darn Steel lost." Verity says as Sorrel speaks.
"I'm guessing that Ritchie wasn't expecting Noland's Snorlax to know Metronome or Dig because if he did, he could've come up with something but since he didn't that allowed for Snorlax to land super effective moves on Steel and easily knock him out." Sorrel says with Verity nodding. Back on the battlefield Ritchie returns Steel back to his Pokeball, tells the mon thank you and puts the ball back on his belt. Ritchie then looks forward and begins to think.
"I wasn't expecting his Snorlax to use Metronome or Dig that caught me off guard. I could send in Lola again but now that he's got to see her speed, I'm sure that he's going to be a lot more prepared for that this time. So, now I should go with a different Pokémon." Ritchie says to himself as he pulls out his next Pokeball, looks forward and speaks.
"Jelly it's your turn!" Ritchie says as he throws the ball forward and sends out his Tentacruel. When the mon appears, she looks forward and has a serious look on her face as Noland speaks.
"So, a Tentacruel's your next choice huh?" Noland asks with Ritchie nodding as the boy looks at Jelly and speaks.
"Jelly let's get revenge for Steel!" Ritchie says with Jelly nodding as she along with Snorlax get into battle stances. The ref calls for the battle to continue as Ritchie speaks.
"Jelly use Hydro Pump!" Ritchie calls. Jelly nods and instantly fires out a large stream of water from her mouth that heads for Snorlax as Noland speaks.
"Get rid of it with Hammer Arm!" Noland calls. Snorlax's left arm glows in white energy and punches the Hydro Pump easily destroying it as Ritchie speaks.
"Use Poison Jab!" Ritchie calls. Jelly covers all of her tentacles in poison and shoots them forward going to hit Snorlax as Noland speaks.
"Snorlax use Dig to dodge and hit Jelly!" Noland calls with Snorlax nodding as it quickly digs underground evading Jelly's attack. Over with Jelly she can feel Snorlax moving underground as Ritchie speaks.
"Jump Jelly!" Ritchie calls with Jelly nodding as she quickly jumps in the air when Snorlax appears from underground missing its attack. Snorlax looks at Jelly and has its mouth opened as Noland speaks.
"Use Hyper Beam!" "Jelly counter with Screech!" Both trainers' call. When Snorlax's about to fire the Hyper Beam Jelly lets out a loud screech that hurts Snorlax's ears, making it stop using Hyper Beam and fall back on the battlefield landing on its back. Snorlax can feel that its physical defense has been lowered as Ritchie speaks.
"Now Jelly use Poison Jab!" Ritchie calls. Jelly nods as she quickly shoots down, covers all of her tentacles in poison and jabs Snorlax causing damage to the mon. Snorlax groans in pain as Ritchie speaks.
"Great job Jelly now use Wrap then Toxic!" Ritchie calls. Jelly manages to wrap her tentacles all around Snorlax's body and begins to squeeze the mon. Jelly then spits a toxic blob into Snorlax's face making the mon cough as it's now poisoned Snorlax's groaning in pain as Ritchie speaks.
"Great job Jelly now finish it off with Poison Jab!" "Snorlax use Outrage to break free!" Both trainers' call. When Jelly goes to jab Snorlax with her tentacles, Snorlax's body becomes covered in dragon energy and begins to thrash about making Jelly stop her attack. As Snorlax's thrashing Jelly tries to hold on but is having a hard time as Snorlax then grabs Jelly and slams her hard on the battlefield. Jelly lays on the ground groaning in pain and sees Snorlax going to punch her with its right fist as Ritchie speaks.
"Jelly quick use Hydro Pump!" Ritchie calls. Jelly quickly shoots out a large stream of water that consumes Snorlax and begins pushing the mon back. A couple seconds later Snorlax manages to stop itself and destroys the Hydro Pump. Snorlax is about to attack Jelly again but stops as it takes poison damage then becomes confused. Ritchie lets out a relief sigh as he speaks.
"Okay looks like Snorlax's confused." Ritchie says to himself as Noland speaks.
"Snorlax use Rest!" Noland calls. Snorlax manages to break through its confusion and goes asleep, healing not only the damage it has received but also getting rid of the poison affecting its body. Ritchie then calls for his next command.
"Jelly Poison Jab!" Ritchie calls with Jelly nodding as she covers her tentacles in poison and jumps forward going to hit Snorlax as Noland speaks.
"Snorlax use Sleep Talk!" Noland calls surprising Ritchie as Snorlax lets out a roar and fires out a big Hyper Beam that connects with Jelly and sends her flying. Jelly's sent crashing back down on the battlefield a few feet away, creating an explosion as Ritchie speaks.
"Jelly!" Ritchie calls in worry. When the dust clears it shows Jelly laying on her back groaning in pain but can still battle as Noland speaks.
"Snorlax use Sleep Talk again!" Noland calls with his Snorlax nodding as in its sleep it uses Metronome again and begins to sway its fingers back and forth until they glow. Snorlax glows in green bug energy (Using U-Turn) shoots forward and hits Jelly who was in the process of standing back up. Before Jelly can counter Snorlax goes back into its Pokeball as a Golduck comes out to take its place. The mon has a serious look on its face as Noland speaks.
"Use Psychic!" Noland calls. Golduck's eyes glow as it sends out multiple waves of psychic energy at Jelly Ritchie speaks.
"Get rid of it with Brutal Swing!" Ritchie calls with Jelly nodding as she covers her tentacles in dark energy and begins to spin easily destroying the Psychic as Noland speaks.
"Golduck use Disable!" Noland calls surprising Ritchie as Golduck looks at Jelly and disables her Brutal Swing. Jelly has a surprised look on her face as Noland speaks.
"Now Golduck use Psychic again!" Noland calls with Golduck nodding as it fires the waves of psychic energy Ritchie speaks.
"Jelly use Knock Off!" Ritchie calls with Jelly nodding as she covers her tentacles in dark energy and slams them down hard on the Psychic easily destroying it as Noland speaks.
"Golduck use Aqua Jet!" Noland calls. Golduck nods as it covers its body in water, shoots forward and hits Jelly causing damage to her. Golduck then puts its fingers on the gem on its forehead as Noland speaks.
"Now use Psybeam!" "Jelly quick use Mirror Coat!" Both trainers' call. When Golduck fires the psychic beam it connects with Jelly causing super effective damage to her. Jelly groans in pain then manages to summon a mirror and out of it appears a big blast that consumes Golduck sending it flying as it crashes back on the battlefield a few feet away creating a dust cloud. Noland then speaks.
"Golduck!" Noland calls in worry as when the dust clears it showcases Golduck lying on its back groaning in pain but can still battle. Over with Ritchie he pulls out Jelly's Pokeball and speaks.
"Jelly return!" Ritchie says with Jelly nodding as she goes back into her Pokeball. Ritchie then puts the ball away as he then looks at Sparky with the yellow mouse nodding as Ritchie speaks.
"Sparky you're up next!" Ritchie says with Sparky nodding as he immediately jumps on the battlefield and looks at Golduck with Golduck looking at him. Up in the stands Verity speaks.
"Nice it's Sparky's turn." Verity says as Sorrel speaks.
"Ritchie now has the type advantage." Sorrel says as Scott speaks.
"That may be true but that doesn't mean that Noland's Golduck will go down without a fight." Scott says as back on the battlefield the ref calls for the battle to continue Ritchie speaks.
"Sparky use Thunderbolt!" Ritchie calls. Sparky sparks his cheeks and fires out an electric bolt that heads for Golduck as Noland speaks.
"Stop it with Psychic and send it back!" Noland calls. Golduck nods as it quickly fires out the waves of psychic energy and catches the Thunderbolt. Golduck then sends the attack back at Sparky as Ritchie speaks.
"Sparky dodge! Then use Wild Charge and boost yourself with Extreme Speed!" Ritchie calls. Sparky nods as he quickly moves to the left and dodges the electric bolt. Sparky then covers his body in electricity and shoots forward. Sparky boosts his speed with Extreme Speed making him go faster and is about to hit Golduck as Noland speaks.
"Golduck use Endure!" Noland calls. Golduck nods as it readies itself. A couple seconds later Sparky rams his head hard into Golduck's stomach causing super effective damage and making Golduck cough in pain. Up in the stands Verity speaks.
"Nice Sparky landed a big blow on Golduck!" "Pip!" Verity along with Piplup say happily as Sorrel speaks.
"But why did he have Golduck take the hit?" Sorrel questions while Scott smiles. Back on the battlefield Ritchie sees that Sparky has taken recoil damage and is also wondering why Noland had Golduck take the hit. A few seconds later Ritchie realizes something and speaks.
"Sparky quick get out of there!" Ritchie calls as Noland speaks.
"It's too late! Golduck use Endeavor!" Noland calls. Golduck roars as it quickly punches Sparky hard in the face with its left fist before he could dodge. Sparky's sent flying and crashes back on the battlefield a few feet away as Ritchie speaks.
"Sparky!" Ritchie calls in worry as when the dust clears it showcases Sparky lying on his back groaning in pain, but he manages to stand back up and is panting heavily. Up in the stands Sorrel speaks.
"I get it now the reason as to why Noland called for Golduck to use Endure was so he could have Golduck's health not only be lower than Sparky's but also draw in Sparky close so that he could use Endeavor which increases the power of the users attack the lower their health is compared to their opponent." Sorrel says as Scott speaks.
"That's right." Scott says as Verity speaks.
"Wow this really is a tough battle for Ritchie" Verity says with her Piplup and Sorrel agreeing with her. Back on the battlefield Ritchie begins to think.
"He purposely had Sparky attack his Golduck by using Endure then after Sparky took recoil damage from Wild Charge, he used Endeavor to do even more damage to Sparky. He really is on the level of the Elite 4." Ritchie says to himself while looking at Noland who has a smile on his face then speaks.
"Well then let's continue. Golduck use Psychic!" Noland calls with Golduck nodding as it fires the waves of psychic energy at Sparky Ritchie speaks.
"Sparky counter with Thunder!" Ritchie calls. Sparky quickly fires out a large electric bolt that collides with the Psychic creating an explosion. Ritchie then calls for his next command.
"Sparky use Extreme Speed!" Ritchie calls. Sparky nods as out of the smoke appears Sparky who shoots forward at a fast speed and is heading for Golduck as Noland speaks.
"That's not going to work! Golduck use Endure!" Noland calls. Golduck nods as it readies itself and takes the hit as Sparky rams his head hard into Golduck's stomach. Golduck groans in pain then gets its right fist ready as Noland speaks.
"Okay Golduck end it with Endeavor!" Noland calls with Golduck nodding as when it goes to punch Sparky Ritchie smiles and speaks.
"Sparky use Double Team!" Ritchie calls surprising Noland as when Golduck's fist is about to connect with Sparky, the yellow mouse quickly creates multiple clones of himself and dodges the attack. Golduck has a surprised look on its face as it sees Sparky sparking his cheeks Ritchie speaks.
"Now Sparky use Thunder!" "Golduck quick use Endure!" Both trainers' call. Unfortunately for Noland Golduck can't use Endure in time as Sparky lets out a loud "Pika!" and fires out a large electric bolt that makes contact with Golduck. Golduck cries out in pain until there's an explosion Noland speaks.
"Golduck!" Noland calls in worry as when the smoke clears it showcases Golduck lying on its back knocked out as the ref speaks.
"Golduck's unable to battle Sparky the Pikachu is the winner!" The ref calls allowing for Ritchie and Sparky to cheer. Up in the stands Verity along with her Piplup cheer too while Sorrel and Scott smile. Back on the battlefield Noland returns his Golduck back to its Pokeball, thanks it and puts the ball away. Noland looks over at Ritchie and speaks.
"You knew I'd do the same strategy so when Golduck was going to hit Sparky with Endeavor you called for Double Team then Thunder to defeat Golduck as his health was low." Noland says with Ritchie nodding as Noland speaks.
"You really are skilled Ritchie, and I think it's time to bring this one back in. Manectric come back out!" Noland says as he throws the ball forward and sends in his Manectric. The mon lets out a roar then looks at Sparky with Sparky looking at it as Ritchie begins to think.
"Manectric's back out it took some damage earlier from its battle against Tundra and I know for a fact that Noland will have it use Volt Switch again at some point, so I need to defeat it now before it uses that move again." Ritchie says to himself as he looks at Sparky and speaks.
"Sparky I'm keeping you in for now!" Ritchie says with Sparky nodding as he along with Manectric get into battle stances. The ref calls for the battle to continue as Noland and Ritchie speak.
"Use Thunder!" The two trainers call with the two-mons nodding as they both fire out large electric bolts at each other creating an explosion as Ritchie speaks.
"Now Sparky use Extreme Speed!" Ritchie calls. Sparky nods as he shoots forward at blinding speed and hits Manectric hard in the face causing damage to the mon.
"Manectric groans in pain then looks at Sparky as Noland speaks.
"Use Fire Fang!" "Sparky use Double Team to dodge!" Both trainers' call. Manectric covers its teeth in fire and goes to bite Sparky, but Sparky quickly creates multiple clones of himself dodging the attack. Manectric then begins to spark its body as Noland speaks.
"Use Discharge!" Noland calls. Manectric lets out a roar and fires out multiple electric bolts everywhere that easily destroy Sparky's clones. Sparky sees a few electric bolts heading for him as Ritchie speaks.
"Sparky use Dig!" Ritchie calls. Sparky nods as he quickly digs underground and dodges the attack. Sparky begins heading for Manectric as Noland speaks.
"Manectric back away!" Noland calls. Manectric quickly jumps back as Sparky appears missing his attack Ritchie speaks.
"Sparky use Extreme Speed then Iron Tail!" Ritchie calls with Sparky nodding as when he's about to shoot forward Noland speaks.
"Use Roar!" Noland calls surprising Ritchie as Manectric lets out a loud roar that makes contact with Sparky and sends him back into his Pokeball. Jelly then comes back out taking Sparky's place and is groaning in pain from her previous battle with Golduck as Noland speaks.
"Manectric quick use Thunder!" Noland calls. Manectric lets out a roar and fires out a large electric bolt that heads for Jelly as Ritchie speaks.
"Jelly use Protect!" Ritchie calls. Jelly quickly summons a barrier and blocks the attack as Noland speaks.
"Use Discharge!" Noland calls. Manectric roars and fires out multiple electric bolts that head for Jelly as Ritchie speaks.
"Jelly knock them away with Knock Off!" Ritchie calls. Jelly nods as she covers all of her tentacles in dark energy and begins swinging them around easily knocking the electric bolts away. Then once Jelly is done Manectric suddenly appears in front of her and has its teeth ready as Noland speaks.
"Use Thunder Fang!" "Jelly look out!" Both trainers' call. Before Jelly can dodge Manectric covers its teeth in electricity and bites down hard on Jelly's beak appendage. When Manectric does that the electricity then begins to travel throughout Jelly's body and begins to shock her. Jelly cries out in pain from the electric attack making Noland smirk while Ritchie's gritting his teeth, but Ritchie then smiles and speaks.
"Jelly now that Manectric's close use Screech!" Ritchie calls. Still being shocked, Jelly nods as she manages to break through it and let out a loud ear-piercing screech that connects with Manectric. This causes Manectric to stop using Thunder Fang and let go of Jelly's beak like appendage as it can feel that its physical defense has decreased. Jelly then gets her tentacles ready as Ritchie speaks.
"Now Jelly use Poison Jab!" Manectric quick use Thunder!" Both trainers' call. Unfortunately for Noland Manectric can't use Thunder in time as Jelly quickly covers her tentacles in poison and begins jabbing Manectric repeatedly causing more damage to the mon as Ritchie speaks.
"Now Jelly end it with Sludge Wave!" "Manectric quick use Volt Switch!" Both trainers' call. When Manectric's about to use Volt Switch, it stops because it's now gained the poisoned status surprising Noland. Jelly lets out a roar and summons a large wave of sludge that consumes Manectric making it cry out in pain as it's sent a few feet away. Then when the Sludge Wave goes away everyone can see Manectric lying on its right side knocked out. The ref makes the call.
"Manectric's unable to battle Jelly the Tentacruel is the winner!" The ref calls allowing for Ritchie and Jelly to cheer. Over with Noland he returns Manectric back to its Pokeball, thanks it and puts the ball away. Noland then pulls out his next Pokeball and speaks.
"Flygon come out!" Noland says as he throws the ball forward and sends out a Flygon. When the mon appears it lets out a mighty roar then lands on the ground and looks at Jelly with Jelly looking at it. Ritchie begins to think.
"His Flygon's next. Jelly's taken a lot of damage but as long as she lands one hit it should be fine." Ritchie says to himself as he looks at Jelly and speaks.
"Jelly hang in there!" Ritchie says with the mon nodding as she along with Flygon get into battle stances. The ref calls for the battle to continue as Ritchie speaks.
"Use Hydro Pump!" Ritchie calls. Jelly roars and fires out a large stream of water from her mouth that heads for Flygon as Noland speaks.
"Fly in the air to dodge Flygon then use Dragon Pulse!" Noland calls. Flygon quickly flies in the air and dodges the Hydro Pump. Flygon then fires out a large Dragon Pulse from its mouth that heads for Jelly as Ritchie speaks.
"Jelly knock it away with Knock Off then use Poison Jab!" Ritchie calls. Jelly covers one of her tentacles in dark energy then swings it easily knocking the dragon beam away. Jelly then covers her tentacles in poison and shoots them upward making them head for Flygon as Noland speaks.
"Dodge Flygon!" Noland calls. Flygon nods as it begins to fly around and is easily evading the tentacles. As Flygon continues to dodge Ritchie watches closely as when Flygon gets to a certain spot Ritchie makes his move.
"Now Jelly use Ice Beam!" Ritchie calls surprising Noland as before he can call for a command Jelly fires out an icy beam that makes contact with Flygon's stomach along with its left wing causing super effective damage and making Ritchie smile as Noland speaks.
"Flygon use Giga Impact!" Noland calls. Flygon roars as it covers its body in an orange sphere with purple streaks and descends. Flygon easily destroys the Ice Beam and hits Jelly creating an explosion as Ritchie speaks.
"Jelly!" Ritchie calls in worry as out of the smoke appears Flygon who flies over to Noland's side of the battlefield and looks forward waiting to see the results. When the smoke clears it shows Jelly lying on her back knocked out as the ref speaks.
"Jelly the Tentacruel is unable to battle Flygon's the winner!" The ref calls allowing for Noland to smile while Flygon roars in victory. Over with Ritchie he returns Jelly back to her Pokeball and tells her thank you. Ritchie puts the ball away as he pulls out his next Pokeball and speaks.
"Tundra come back out!" Ritchie says as he throws the ball forward and sends Tundra back out. Once Tundra appears he lets out a roar then stops and begins to groan in pain as up in the stands Sorrel speaks.
"Even though Tundra has the type advantage he's still weak from his battles against Manectric and Camerupt so Ritchie will need to in this fast." Sorrel says with Verity and her Piplup nodding. Back on the battlefield Tundra continues to groan in pain as Ritchie speaks.
"Tundra I know you're tired but hang in there!" Ritchie says with Tundra nodding as he looks over at Flygon with Flygon looking at him. The ref calls for the battle to continue as Noland speaks.
"Flygon use Flamethrower!" Noland calls. Flygon quickly shoots out a stream of fire from its mouth that heads for Tundra as Ritchie speaks.
"Tundra use Aqua Jet to dodge then use Ice Beam!" Ritchie calls. Tundra covers his body in water and shoots upward easily dodging the stream of fire. Tundra then fires out an icy beam that heads for Flygon as Noland speaks.
"Use Iron Tail then Giga Impact!" Noland calls. Flygon nods as it covers its tail in steel energy, spins around and easily destroys the Ice Beam. Flygon lets out a roar as it covers its body in an orange sphere with purple streaks and shoots forward heading for Tundra as Ritchie speaks.
"Tundra block!" Ritchie calls. Tundra quickly brings up his arms and blocks the attack as he's sent towards the battlefield and lands on his back. Tundra groans a little in pain and takes some burn damage but then stands up and sees Flygon covering its mouth in fire as Noland speaks.
"Flygon finish it off with Flamethrower!" Noland calls. Flygon roars as when it goes to use the move it suddenly stops making Noland confused as he speaks.
"Flygon what's wrong?!" Noland asks he then takes a closer look on Flygon's left wing and sees ice starting to form around it. Noland has a surprised look on his face and begins to think.
"But Tundra didn't land an ice beam on Flygon so how did it?" Noland says to himself as he then remembers when Jelly used Ice Beam on Flygon that not only hit Flygon's stomach but also its wing too. Noland looks over at Ritchie who has a smile on his face as Noland speaks.
"I see so that was your plan but now it's time to do this. Flygon use Flamethrower to burn the ice off your wing!" Noland calls with Flygon nodding as when it goes to do that Ritchie speaks.
"Oh no you don't! Tundra quick use Aqua Jet to stop it!" Ritchie calls. Tundra nods as he covers his body in water, shoots upward and hits Flygon making it stop. Flygon groans a little in pain but sees Tundra open his mouth as Ritchie speaks.
"Now use Blizzard!" "Flygon dodge!" Both trainers' call. Unfortunately for Noland Tundra was faster as he lets out a roar and fires out a big Blizzard that consumes Flygon causing super effective damage to it. Flygon cries out in pain until it then becomes frozen solid surprising Noland as Ritchie speaks.
"Okay Tundra use Superpower!" Ritchie calls. Tundra lets out a mighty roar as his body bulks up and gains a red outline. Tundra clenches his right fist and goes to punch Flygon but then becomes consumed in flames again. Tundra groans in pain but manages to fight through it and punches the frozen Flygon causing it to crash hard back on the ground creating a cloud of smoke as Noland speaks.
"Flygon!" Noland calls in worry as Tundra lands back on the battlefield and looks forward to see the results. When the smoke clears it shows Flygon out of the ice and lying on its stomach knocked out. The ref makes the call.
"Flygon's unable to battle Tundra the Beartic is the winner!" The ref calls allowing for Ritchie and Tundra to cheer. Up in the stands Scott speaks.
"Ritchie knew going forward that Flygon would be difficult to deal with because of its speed so he made sure to have Jelly use Ice Beam on one of its wings which would make Flygon slower and allow for Tundra to defeat it." Scott says with Sorrel and Verity nodding as Sorrel speaks.
"And now Noland only has two Pokémon left while Ritchie has 4." Sorrel says as Scott speaks.
"True but remember Noland's last two Pokémon are fully healed and one of them hasn't even battled yet. Ritchie may be in the lead but 3 of his final 4 are injured so he still needs to be cautious." Scott says with Sorrel nodding as Verity speaks.
"Go! Ritchie!" "Pip!" Verity along with Piplup let out a loud cheer. Back on the battlefield Noland returns Flygon back to its Pokeball as over with Ritchie he begins to think.
"Noland's down to his last two Pokémon even though I still have 4 of mine I can't get too confident." Ritchie says to himself as Noland speaks.
"Well Ritchie I have to say you've done well in this battle as I'm now down to my last 2 Pokémon. I hope you don't get too confident because you have 4 Pokémon left." Noland says as Ritchie speaks.
"You don't need to worry about that as I'm still focused and know that I shouldn't underestimate your final two." Ritchie says with Noland nodding as he speaks.
"I like that you're keeping a cool head Ritchie and now I think it's time to bring this one back out." Noland says as he pulls out his next Pokeball and speaks.
"Snorlax come back out!" Noland says as he throws the ball forward and sends his Snorlax back in. Once the mon appears it's still asleep. Ritchie looks at Snorlax and begins to think.
"Okay Snorlax is still asleep that's good and while I'm happy that it's still asleep it'd probably be best to switch out Tundra for now as he's suffered a lot of damage, and I'll need him for Noland's final Pokémon." Ritchie says to himself as he pulls out Tundra's Pokeball and speaks.
"Tundra return!" Ritchie says with Tundra nodding as he goes back into his Pokeball. Ritchie puts the ball away as he pulls out another Pokeball and speaks.
"Lola come back out!" Ritchie says as he throws the ball forward and sends Lola back in. Once she appears she looks at Snorlax and immediately gets in a battle stance. The ref calls for the battle to continue as Noland speaks.
"Snorlax use Sleep Talk!" Noland calls. Snorlax instantly fires out a big Hyper Beam that heads for Lola as Ritchie speaks.
"Lola dodge then use High Jump Kick!" Ritchie calls. Lola nods as she moves to the left and easily dodges the attack. Lola then shoots forward at a fast speed and kicks Snorlax hard in the stomach with her right foot causing super effective damage to the mon. Snorlax coughs in pain causing it to wake up as it looks at Lola Noland speaks.
"Snorlax use Body Press!" "Lola quick back away!" Both trainers' call. When Snorlax goes to slam on Lola the bunny quickly jumps away and lands on the ground a few feet away as Snorlax hits the ground instead Noland speaks.
"Use Rollout!" Noland calls. Snorlax curls into a ball and shoots forward heading for Lola as Ritchie speaks.
"Counter with High Jump Kick!" Ritchie calls. Lola shoots forward and collides with Snorlax while using her right leg. When the two mons collide, they begin pushing each other back and forth trying to see who's stronger. They continue to do that until they then back away from each other as Noland speaks.
"Now Snorlax use Metronome!" Noland calls with Snorlax nodding as it manages to stop itself and begins swaying its fingers back and forth Ritchie speaks.
"Lola quick use Power-Up Punch!" Ritchie calls with Lola nodding as she covers both of her fists in orange fighting energy and shoots forward reaching Snorlax instantly. Lola goes to punch Snorlax with her right fist but Snorlax stops swaying its fingers causing them to glow as Noland speaks.
"Do it Snorlax!" Noland calls as Snorlax lets out a mighty roar making Lola stop and sends her back into her Pokeball. Sparky then comes back out taking Lola's place as Noland speaks.
"Okay Snorlax use Rest!" Noland calls with Snorlax nodding as when it goes to use the move Ritchie speaks.
"Sparky quick use Extreme Speed!" Ritchie calls. Sparky nods as he quickly shoots forward at a fast speed and hits Snorlax hard in the face causing damage to the mon as Sparky's bounced into the air. Snorlax groans in pain as Sparky begins to spark his cheeks Ritchie speaks.
"Sparky use Thunder!" Ritchie calls. Sparky lets out a loud "Pika!" and fires out a large electric bolt that heads for Snorlax as Noland smiles and speaks.
"Snorlax use High Horsepower!" Noland calls as Ritchie speaks.
"That's right I forgot that it has that move." Ritchie says to himself as Snorlax gains an orange outline, shoots upward, easily goes through the Thunder and reaches Sparky instantly. Snorlax goes to punch Sparky with its left fist as Ritchie speaks.
"Sparky quick use Double Team!" Ritchie calls. Sparky quickly creates multiple clones of himself and dodges Snorlax's attack. Noland isn't worried as he calls for his next command.
"Snorlax use Hyper Beam!" Noland calls. Snorlax roars and fires out a large orange beam that easily destroys all of Sparky's clones and hits the real Sparky creating an explosion as Ritchie speaks.
"Sparky!" Ritchie calls in worry as out of the smoke appears Sparky who's groaning in pain. Snorlax lands back on the ground and begins running forward heading for Sparky while clenching its left fist as Noland speaks.
"Snorlax use Mega Punch!" "Sparky block with Surf!" Both trainers' call. Unfortunately for Ritchie Sparky can't use Surf in time as Snorlax reaches him and punches him hard in the stomach with its left fist. Sparky coughs in pain as he's sent flying going past Ritchie and crashing into the wall behind him as Ritchie looks back then speaks.
"Sparky!" Ritchie calls in worry as over with Sparky he's stuck in the wall but then a couple seconds later he falls on the ground landing on his stomach. The ref looks at Sparky, sees that he can't battle anymore and makes the call.
"Sparky the Pikachu is unable to battle Snorlax is the winner!" The ref calls allowing for Noland and Snorlax to smile while over with Ritchie he begins running over to Sparky. Up in the stands Verity speaks.
"Aw Sparky lost." Verity says as Sorrel speaks.
"If it wasn't for Snorlax using Metronome and getting Roar Sparky wouldn't have been in the battle." Sorrel says as Scott speaks.
"That may be true, but Ritchie made a mistake in having Sparky use Thunder as he forgot that Snorlax can use High Horsepower which is a ground type move allowing it to go pass the Thunder. And Noland knew Ritchie would have Sparky use Double Team to dodge then called for Hyper Beam to get rid of the clones and hit Sparky with Mega Punch to defeat him." Scott says with Sorrel and Verity nodding. Back on the battlefield Ritchie has made it over to Sparky, picks the mon up and speaks.
"Hey Sparky, are you okay?" Ritchie asks as Sparky wakes up, looks at Ritchie and nods telling Ritchie sorry as Ritchie speaks.
"It's okay Sparky you did your best take a good rest." Ritchie says with Sparky nodding. A couple seconds later Lola comes out of her Pokeball to check in on Sparky. Sparky tells Lola that he's okay and not to worry with Lola nodding. After that Ritchie along with Lola walk back to their side of the battlefield as Ritchie places Sparky down next to him. Ritchie then looks at Lola and speaks.
"Okay Lola you're up." Ritchie says with Lola nodding as she immediately jumps on the battlefield and looks at Snorlax while having an angry look on her face. Noland looks at Lola and speaks.
"Wow seems like she's angry." Noland says as Ritchie speaks.
"Lola cares about Sparky a lot so now that Snorlax has defeated him she wants to get revenge." Ritchie says with Noland nodding as he looks at Snorlax and speaks.
"Snorlax get ready!" Noland says with Snorlax nodding as it along with Lola get into battle stances. The ref calls for the battle to continue as Ritchie speaks.
"Lola use High Jump Kick!" Ritchie calls. Lola instantly shoots forward going to hit Snorlax with her right leg as Noland speaks.
"Snorlax use Dig to dodge then Hyper Beam!" Noland calls. Snorlax nods as it immediately digs underground dodging Lola's attack. Just when Lola's about to hit the battlefield she readjusts herself and safely lands. Lola can feel the ground beneath her shaking as Ritchie speaks.
"Back away Lola!" Ritchie calls. Lola quickly jumps back as out of the ground appears a large Hyper Beam that almost hits her. Snorlax appears out of the ground and has its fingers ready as Noland speaks.
"Use Metronome!" Noland calls. Before Ritchie can call for a command Snorlax quickly sways its fingers back and forth until it stops causing them to glow. Snorlax roars to the sky as it shoots out a purple orb of dragon energy high into the air. When the orb gets high enough it then explodes, creating multiple purple meteors that head for Lola as Ritchie speaks.
"Dodge Lola!" Ritchie calls. Lola nods as she begins running around the battlefield doing her best to dodge the meteors. As Lola continues to dodge Snorlax opens its mouth as Noland speaks.
"Use Hyper Beam!" Noland calls. Snorlax roars and fires out a large orange beam that heads for Lola who's still dodging the meteors Ritchie speaks.
"Lola kick it in the air with High Jump Kick!" Ritchie calls. Lola nods as when the Hyper Beam goes to hit her, she manages to kick it upward with her left leg causing it to collide with the meteors and create an explosion getting rid of all the meteors. Ritchie has a smile on his face as Noland speaks.
"Snorlax use Body Press!" Noland calls. Snorlax jumps forward and goes to hit Lola as Ritchie speaks.
"Lola dodge then use Power-Up Punch!" Ritchie calls. Lola sees Snorlax coming and quickly jumps back as Snorlax hits the ground instead. When Snorlax stands up Lola lands a couple feet away then shoots forward, covers her right fist in orange fighting energy and punches Snorlax hard in the face causing super effective damage. Snorlax groans in pain as Lola can feel her physical attack increase and has her fists ready as Ritchie speaks.
"Use Close Combat!" Ritchie calls. Lola lets out a loud "Lop!" and begins punching/kicking Snorlax repeatedly with each hit doing more damage than the last. Over with Noland he watches Snorlax getting hit and isn't worried. Back to the battle Lola punches Snorlax hard across the face with her right fist causing more damage and making Snorlax groan in pain. Up in the stands Verity speaks.
"Yeah, that had to have done it!" Verity says happily as over with Sorrel and Scott they continue to watch silently as they look over at Noland who doesn't have a worried look on his face. Back on the battlefield Ritchie speaks.
"Okay Lola let's end this! Use Sky Uppercut!" Ritchie calls with Lola nodding as her left fist glows and uppercuts Snorlax causing more damage to the mon as Noland speaks.
"Snorlax use Counter!" Noland calls surprising Ritchie as he speaks.
"Lola quick dodge!" Ritchie calls but was too late as Snorlax gains a red outline on its body and punches Lola hard in the stomach with its right fist. Lola coughs in pain from the super effective attack as she then sees Snorlax open its mouth Noland calls for a command.
"Snorlax use Hyper Beam!" Noland calls. Snorlax lets out a roar and fires out a large orange beam that consumes Lola causing her to crash on the battlefield a few feet away and create an explosion as Ritchie speaks.
"Lola!" Ritchie calls in worry as when the smoke clears it showcases Lola lying on her back groaning in pain and has scratches all over her body. After struggling for a bit Lola manages to stand back up but is panting heavily as Noland speaks.
"So, she can still stand but it doesn't look like she can last for long. Snorlax finish Lola off with Body Press!" Noland calls with Snorlax nodding as when it goes to use the move it stops making Noland confused as he speaks.
"Snorlax?" Noland says as when he looks at the mon he sees that Snorlax has heart eyes and begins to do an affectionate dance for Lola. Noland has a surprised look on his face as over with Ritchie he smiles and speaks.
"Looks like it activated." Ritchie says as up in the stands Verity speaks.
"I don't get it what happened to Snorlax?" Verity asks as Sorrel speaks.
"After Snorlax hit Lola with Counter Lola's ability Cute Charm activated which makes the target infatuated when they make physical contact with the user." Sorrel answers as Scott speaks.
"Cute Charm has a 1/3 chance of activating so Ritchie got lucky or maybe he was expecting that." Scott says with Sorrel and Verity nodding as they look over at Ritchie who has a smile on his face and speaks.
"Okay Lola it's time for a counterattack get ready!" Ritchie says with Lola nodding as she gets in a battle stance Ritchie speaks.
"Lola use High Jump Kick!" Ritchie calls with Lola nodding as she shoots forward Noland speaks.
"Snorlax use Dig to dodge!" Noland calls but Snorlax doesn't listen to him as it's too infatuated, allowing for Lola to kick it hard in the stomach with her right leg causing damage to Snorlax. Lola then gets her left fist ready as Ritchie speaks.
"Lola use Sky Uppercut!" Ritchie calls. Lola nods as her left fist glows and uppercuts Snorlax causing more damage to the mon as Noland speaks.
"Snorlax hit it back with Counter then use Rest!" Noland calls. Over with Snorlax when it goes to use the move it looks at Lola and gets infatuated again causing it to stop using its attack and making Noland grit his teeth while Ritchie smiles and speaks.
"Okay Lola let's end this! Use Close Combat then Power-Up Punch!" Ritchie calls. Lola nods and begins punching/kicking Snorlax repeatedly with each hit she lands doing more damage than the last causing super effective damage. Lola then covers her right fist in orange fighting energy lets out a roar and punches Snorlax hard in the face sending Snorlax flying/spinning. Snorlax goes past Noland and crashes into the wall behind him, creating an explosion as Noland speaks.
"Snorlax!" Noland calls in worry as when the dust clears it shows Snorlax leaning against the wall knocked out. The ref makes the call.
"Snorlax is unable to battle Lola the Lopunny is the winner!" The ref calls allowing for Ritchie, Sparky and Lola to let out a loud cheer. Up in the stands Verity speaks.
"They finally took down Snorlax!" "Pip!" Verity along with Piplup cheer as Sorrel speaks.
"Yes, and now they have one more Pokémon to defeat." Sorrel says as back on the battlefield Ritchie looks at Lola and speaks.
"Great job Lola, I knew you could do it!" "Pika!" Ritchie along with Sparky say with Lola nodding making her smile. Over with Noland he returns Snorlax back to its Pokeball, tells it thank you and puts the ball away. Noland then looks over at Ritchie and speaks.
"You really are a skilled trainer your Lopunny having Cute Charm didn't even cross my mind." Noland says as Ritchie speaks.
"Thanks, I had a feeling that you were going to have Snorlax use Counter seeing as you weren't worried about it getting hit by Lola's attacks. It was a gamble to see if Cute Charm would activate but I'm happy that it did." Ritchie says with Noland nodding as he speaks.
"Indeed, and now it's time for me to bring in my final Pokémon" Noland says as he brings out his final Pokeball and speaks.
"Now! Venusaur come out!" Noland says as he throws the ball high in the air and out of it appears his Venusaur. The mon lands on the battlefield causing it to shake then lets out a mighty roar creating a shockwave showcasing its power. When Venusaur's done roaring it looks at Lola and has a serious look on its face as Ritchie speaks.
"Just like I thought Venusaur's his final Pokémon and I can tell that it's probably the strongest Venusaur I've ever seen." Ritchie says to himself as up in the stands Verity speaks.
"So, Venusaur is his final Pokémon." Verity says as Scott speaks.
"Ritchie will need to be careful as Noland's Venusaur is no joke." Scott says with Verity and Sorrel nodding as they continue to watch the battle. Back on the battlefield Noland looks at Ritchie and speaks.
"Let me tell you this Ritchie whenever my Venusaur's on the field not many trainers can defeat him, but you probably already know that." Noland says with Ritchie nodding as he speaks.
"Yeah, before coming here I did do research on your Venusaur and have a plan to defeat it." Ritchie responds with Noland nodding as Ritchie looks at Lola and speaks.
"Lola get ready!" Ritchie says with Lola nodding as she along with Venusaur get into battle stances and look at each other. The ref calls for the battle to continue as Ritchie speaks.
"Lola use High Jump Kick then Fire Punch!" Ritchie calls. Lola nods as she instantly shoots forward and kicks Venusaur hard in the face with her right leg causing some damage to the mon. Lola then covers her right fist in fire and punches Venusaur hard in the face causing super effective damage. Venusaur groans in pain then looks at Lola as Noland speaks.
"Venusaur use Giga Drain!" "Lola dodge!" Both trainers' call. Venusaur shoots out multiple green vines that go to grab Lola, but she manages to dodge all of them as Noland speaks.
"Venusaur keep using Giga Drain!" "Lola keep dodging and use Fire Punch!" Both trainers' call. As Venusaur shoots out more green vines Lola continues to dodge, covers her fists in fire and begins punching the vines away. As Lola keeps dodging, she suddenly stops and begins to feel the fatigue from the damage she received from Snorlax. Noland sees this as his chance and speaks.
"Venusaur grab it now!" Noland says with Venusaur nodding as it quickly shoots its vines forward and wraps them around Lola. Once Venusaur does that it begins sucking Lola's energy allowing for Venusaur to heal itself. Lola's groaning in pain as Noland speaks.
"Venusaur finish it with Seed Bomb!" "Lola get out of there!" Both trainers' call. Unfortunately for Ritchie Lola can't break free because of the vines sucking her energy making her tired. Venusaur then fires out a large seed from its flower that makes contact with Lola and creates an explosion as Ritchie speaks.
"Lola!" Ritchie calls in worry as out of the smoke appears Lola who falls back on the battlefield landing on her back and is knocked out. The ref makes the call.
"Lola the Lopunny is unable to battle Venusaur's the winner!" The ref calls allowing for Noland and Venusaur to smile. Over with Ritchie he returns Lola back to her Pokeball, tells her thank you and to get a good rest. Ritchie puts the ball away as he pulls out his next Pokeball and speaks.
"Tundra come back out!" Ritchie says as he throws the ball forward and sends Tundra in. Once Tundra appears he has a serious look on his face and looks at Venusaur with Venusaur looking at him. The ref calls for the battle to continue as Ritchie speaks.
"Tundra use Hail then Blizzard!" Ritchie calls. Tundra lets out a roar as the once clear sky becomes dark and hail begins to fall. Tundra then summons a large Blizzard that heads for Venusaur as Noland speaks.
"Venusaur use Protect then Sunny Day!" Noland calls. Venusaur quickly summons a protective barrier blocking the Blizzard along with the hail. Then when the blizzard goes away Venusaur roars to the sky and summons a bright sun that easily gets rid of the Hail. Once Venusaur does that it sees Tundra in front of it having his right fist ready as Ritchie speaks.
"Tundra use Ice Punch!" Ritchie calls. Before Noland can call for a command Tundra covers his right fist in ice and punches Venusaur hard in the face causing super effective damage. Venusaur looks at Tundra as Noland speaks.
"Venusaur use Giga Drain then Solar Beam!" Noland calls. Venusaur nods as it quickly sends out multiple green vines that wrap around Tundra and begin to suck his energy making him groan in pain. Venusaur then fires out a big grassy beam that consumes Tundra creating an explosion as Ritchie speaks.
"Tundra!" Ritchie calls in worry as out of the smoke appears Tundra who lands on the battlefield a few feet away landing on his back and is knocked out. The ref makes the call.
"Tundra the Beartic is unable to battle Venusaur's the winner!" The ref calls allowing for Noland and Venusaur to smile. Up in the stands Verity speaks.
"And now they both have one Pokémon left." Verity says with Sorrel and Scott nodding. Back on the battlefield Ritchie returns Tundra back to his Pokeball, tells him thank you and puts the ball away. Once Ritchie does that Noland speaks.
"Looks like we're both down to our last Pokémon Ritchie." Noland says with Ritchie nodding as he speaks.
"Yeah, and I'm confident that my last one will win this battle for me." Ritchie says while pulling out his final Pokeball, gets ready to throw it and speaks.
"Zippo, I Choose You!" Ritchie says as he throws the ball high in the air that opens revealing his Charizard. Zippo lands on the battlefield causing it to shake then lets out a mighty roar creating a shockwave. Once Zippo's done roaring, he looks over at Venusaur and feels a lot of power from it as Noland speaks.
"So, a Charizard's your final one huh? Can't say I'm surprised and seeing as I'm facing a Charizard I guess it's time to use this." Noland says as he reaches into his left pocket and pulls out a keystone. Ritchie looks at it and speaks.
"Wait is that a Keystone?" Ritchie asks with Noland nodding as he speaks.
"Yes, it is. Venusaur it's time to Mega Evolve!" Noland says with Venusaur nodding as Noland touches the stone with his right finger causing it to glow. The mega stone hidden inside Venusaur's flower begins to glow too as it along with the keystone shoot out beams of light that connect with each other. Venusaur's engulfed in a bright light and begins to change. Venusaur continues to change more and more until a few seconds later it breaks out of the light as what was once a regular Venusaur is now a Mega Venusaur. The mon lets out a mighty roar creating a big shockwave along with a strong gust of wind that tries to blow Ritchie, Sparky and Zippo back, but they stand their ground. A few seconds later Venusaur stops roaring and looks forward while having a serious look on its face. Ritchie along with Sparky and Zippo have surprised looks on their faces as up in the stands Verity speaks.
"He mega evolved Venusaur? I wasn't expecting that." Verity says as Sorrel speaks.
"And neither was Ritchie." Sorrel says as back on the battlefield Noland looks at Ritchie and speaks.
"From the looks on your faces am I safe to assume that you weren't expecting me to mega evolve my Venusaur?" Noland asks as Ritchie speaks.
"Yes, as out of all of the research I've done on you along with your Pokémon it's not stated that you've ever mega evolved your Venusaur." Ritchie says with Noland nodding as he speaks.
"I bet as Venusaur, and I just attained mega evolution recently so it would make sense as to why you didn't know prior to this battle." Noland answers with Ritchie nodding as Noland continues to speak.
"So, Ritchie now that I've mega evolved my Venusaur you're not scared, are you? Because I'm sure this probably messes up your plans" Noland says as Ritchie looks at him and speaks.
"I'll be honest I wasn't expecting this but at the same time I'm not worried as I can still see the path to victory. Right Zippo?!" Ritchie says as Zippo lets out a loud roar agreeing with his trainer and making Noland smile as he speaks.
"We look forward to seeing what you'll do. Venusaur get ready!" Noland says with Venusaur nodding as it along with Zippo get into battle stances the ref begins to speak.
"This is the final battle both trainers have one Pokémon left! Whoever defeats their opponents Pokémon first will be declared the winner!" The ref says with both trainers nodding as the ref continues to speak.
"Now let the final battle begin!" The ref says as on the battlefield both trainers along with their Pokémon look at each other in silence waiting to see who'll make the first move. They continue to look at each other until a gentle wind breeze goes by Noland speaks.
"Venusaur use Sludge Bomb!" Noland calls. Venusaur lets out a roar and fires out multiple bombs of sludge from its mouth that head for Zippo as Ritchie speaks.
"Zippo dodge then use Fire Blast!" Ritchie calls. Zippo quickly flies in the air dodging the bombs of sludge then fires out a big blast of fire that's powered up by the Sunny Day and makes contact with Venusaur creating an explosion. When the explosion clears it shows that Venusaur has some scratches on its body but is overall fine as Ritchie speaks.
"Looks like the Fire Blast didn't do much damage thanks to Venusaur's Thick Fat ability. But that's fine as Zippo has other moves besides fire." Ritchie says to himself as he calls for his next command.
"Zippo use Ancient Power!" Ritchie calls. Zippo lets out a loud roar as he summons multiple rocks covered in purple energy and shoots them at Venusaur as Noland speaks.
"Venusaur blow them away with Solar Beam!" Noland calls. Venusaur roars as it fires out a giant grassy beam from its flower that easily destroys all of the rocks and heads for Zippo as Ritchie speaks.
"Zippo dodge then fly forward!" Ritchie calls. Zippo nods as he moves to the right easily evading the grassy beam then begins to descend heading for Venusaur as Noland speaks.
"Venusaur use Frenzy Plant!" Noland calls. Venusaur roars as it summons multiple large green vines and sends them at the incoming Zippo as Ritchie speaks.
"Zippo dodge and use Air Slash!" Ritchie calls. Zippo nods as he begins to fly around easily evading the vines. Once Zippo dodges all of them he begins heading for Venusaur again and starts shooting out multiple slashes of wind from his wings as Noland speaks.
"Use Sludge Bomb!" Noland calls. Venusaur fires out multiple bombs of sludge from its mouth that collide with the slashes of wind creating multiple explosions. Out of the smoke appears Zippo who's now in front of Venusaur and is heating up his mouth as Noland speaks.
"Venusaur use Protect then Toxic!" Noland calls with Venusaur nodding as it quickly summons the protective barrier to block Zippo's attack Ritchie speaks.
"Zippo back away!" Ritchie calls with Zippo nodding as he quickly flies back making Noland along with Venusaur confused as Venusaur's protect barrier goes down Ritchie smiles and speaks.
"Zippo use Hurricane!" Ritchie calls. Zippo lets out a mighty roar and summons a large Hurricane that heads for Venusaur as Noland speaks.
"Venusaur quick block with Frenzy Plant!" Noland calls. Venusaur nods as it quickly creates a wall of large vines to block the Hurricane. When the Hurricane connects it begins to easily destroy the vines and is making its way to Venusaur as Noland speaks.
"Add more vines Venusaur!" Noland calls. Venusaur nods as it summons more vines to block the Hurricane's path. The Hurricane continues to destroy more and more vines until a few seconds later it disappears. Noland along with Venusaur smile as over with Ritchie he smiles too as Zippo appears behind Venusaur and is covering his mouth in fire as Ritchie speaks.
"Use Fire Blast!" Ritchie calls. Zippo lets out a roar and fires out a big blast of fire from his mouth that connects with Venusaur creating an explosion and causing super effective damage to Venusaur. The Sunny Day then goes away as Ritchie speaks.
"Great job Zippo now use Hurricane!" "Venusaur use Frenzy Plant!" Both trainers' call. When Zippo goes to use Hurricane, suddenly a large vine appears and jabs Zippo hard in the stomach causing damage and making him stop. Venusaur appears from the smoke and looks at Zippo as Ritchie speaks.
"Zippo quick use Flamethrower!" "Venusaur use Sleep Powder!" Both trainers' call. Before Zippo can use Flamethrower Venusaur sends out a grassy powder that connects with Zippo causing him to go asleep. Ritchie has a surprised look on his face and speaks.
"Zippo wake up and use Flamethrower!" Ritchie calls but Zippo doesn't do that as he's fast asleep Ritchie grits his teeth while Noland smiles and speaks.
"Okay Venusaur now use Giga Drain!" Noland calls. Venusaur nods as it shoots out multiple green vines that wrap around Zippo and begin to suck his energy. Zippo's groaning in pain while Venusaur's healing itself as Noland speaks.
"Now Venusaur use Sludge Bomb then Frenzy Plant!" "Zippo use Hurricane!" Both trainers' call. Unfortunately for Ritchie Zippo's still asleep which allows for Venusaur to fire out multiple bombs of sludge that hit Zippo causing damage to him. Venusaur then summons multiple vines that wrap around Zippo, send him high into the air then slams him back down on the battlefield causing it to shake and create a dust cloud as Ritchie speaks.
"Zippo!" Ritchie calls in worry as when the dust clears it shows Zippo lying on his stomach groaning in pain and is now awake. Zippo begins to stand up as Noland speaks.
"Now Venusaur use Toxic!" Noland calls. Venusaur quickly spits out a toxic blob that makes contact with Zippo and gives him the poisoned status. Zippo groans from the poison damage then looks over at Venusaur with the mon looking at him and having a smile on its face. Up in the stands Sorrel speaks.
"This isn't good now that Zippo's poisoned, he'll be taking damage over time and now that Venusaur's healed most of the damage it's received so far it'll take a lot to defeat it." Sorrel says as Verity speaks.
"Go Ritchie and Zippo!" "Pip!" Verity along with her Piplup cheer as over with Scott he's silent and is curious to see what Ritchie will do next. Back on the battlefield Ritchie looks at Zippo and begins to think.
"This is bad now that Zippo's been hit with Toxic, he'll take damage over time, and he's already taken a lot of damage from Venusaur's previous attacks meaning that he doesn't have a lot of health left. Venusaur on the other hand has healed most of the damage that Zippo did to him so if Noland wants his Venusaur to stall long enough until Zippo faints, he can actually do that. What do I do now?" Ritchie says to himself as he continues to think Noland speaks.
"Looks like you're thinking on what your next move will be, so I think I'll attack while you're lost in thought. Venusaur use Frenzy Plant!" Noland calls. Venusaur nods as it roars summoning multiple large vines and shoots them forward at Zippo as Ritchie speaks.
"Zippo use Hurricane then fly in the air!" Ritchie calls. Zippo nods as he lets out a mighty roar summoning a large Hurricane that connects with the vines and begins to easily destroy them. Zippo then flies in the air and opens his mouth as Ritchie speaks.
"Use Fire Blast!" Ritchie calls. Zippo takes some poison damage then roars as he fires out a big blast of fire that heads for Venusaur as Noland speaks.
"Venusaur use Protect then Sludge Bomb!" Noland calls. Venusaur quickly summons a protective barrier and blocks the Fire Blast which gives Ritchie an idea. Venusaur then fires out multiple bombs of sludge at Zippo as Ritchie speaks.
"Zippo dodge then use Air Slash!" Ritchie calls. Zippo manages to easily dodge the poison bombs of sludge then flaps his wings forward sending out multiple slashes of wind that head for Venusaur as Noland speaks.
"Venusaur knock them away with Frenzy Plant!" Noland calls. Venusaur roars and shoots multiple large vines upward that collide with the slashes of wind and easily destroy them. The vines head for Zippo as Ritchie speaks.
"Zippo dodge the vines and head for Venusaur!" Ritchie calls. Zippo nods as he takes some poison damage but manages to dodge the vines and begins heading for Venusaur as Noland speaks.
"Venusaur have the vines go after Zippo and summon more of them!" Noland calls. Venusaur nods as it has the vines from before go after Zippo then summons more vines in front of itself and shoots them at Zippo too. Zippo can see multiple vines in front of him and behind him but continues heading for Venusaur. When the vines are about to make contact with Zippo Ritchie speaks.
"Now Zippo use Hurricane then use Sunny Day!" Ritchie calls. Zippo lets out a mighty roar and summons a big Hurricane that easily blows away all of the vines and heads for Venusaur as Noland speaks.
"Venusaur use Protect!" Noland calls. Venusaur quickly summons a protective barrier and blocks the attack. Over with Zippo he continues to roar as he summons the bright sun and can feel that his fire power is increasing Ritchie calls for a command.
"Now use Blast Burn!" Ritchie calls. Zippo lets out a roar as orange fire circles around him then goes into his right fist. Zippo punches the ground that creates a large crack with the fire going inside and heads for Venusaur as Noland speaks.
"Venusaur quick block with Frenzy Plant!" Noland calls but was too late as the Blast Burn makes contact with Venusaur creating an explosion as Noland speaks.
"Venusaur!" Noland calls in worry as when the smoke clears it shows Venusaur groaning in pain and has some burn marks on its body. Venusaur looks over at Zippo who has steam coming off his body showing that he's now in his recharge phase and also takes some poison damage as Noland speaks.
"Seems like his Charizard hasn't fully mastered Blast Burn yet as it's in its recharge phase meaning this is my chance." Noland says to himself as he looks at Venusaur and speaks.
"Venusaur it's time we end this! Use Solar Beam!" Noland calls. Venusaur lets out a mighty roar as it fires out a large grassy beam that heads for Zippo. Up in the stands Sorrel speaks.
"Now that Zippo's in his recharge phase he won't be able to move." Sorrel says as Verity speaks.
"Does this mean that Ritchie loses?" Verity asks as Sorrel speaks.
"I'm afraid so." Sorrel says with Verity nodding as over with Scott he continues to watch and looks over at Ritchie who's still calm. Back on the battlefield as the Solar Beam's getting closer to Zippo Ritchie smiles and speaks.
"Zippo dodge!" Ritchie calls. Zippo nods as he quickly moves to the right avoiding the beam and causing it to hit the wall behind Ritchie instead creating an explosion. Noland along with everyone else have surprised looks on their faces as Ritchie speaks.
"Zippo use Fire Blast!" Ritchie calls. Zippo roars and fires out a large blast of fire that's powered up by the Sunny Day and connects with Venusaur creating an explosion. When the explosion clears Venusaur's groaning in pain as Zippo appears in front of it Noland speaks.
"Venusaur use Sleep Powder!" Noland calls and when Venusaur goes to do that it suddenly bursts into flames surprising Noland as he speaks.
"He's burned?!" Noland says in surprise as over with Ritchie he smiles and speaks.
"Zippo grab Venusaur and use Seismic Toss!" Ritchie calls. Zippo nods as he grabs Venusaur and begins flying high in the air. Once Zippo gets high enough, he spins around making Venusaur dizzy then throws the mon back down on the battlefield as hard as he can. Once Venusaur hits the battlefield it causes it to shake and creates a dust cloud. When the dust clears it shows Venusaur lying on its stomach groaning in pain. Zippo then lands on the ground and looks at Venusaur as Ritchie speaks.
"Okay Zippo use Blast Burn again!" Ritchie calls with Zippo nodding as when he goes to use the move, he stops because of the poison making Ritchie grit his teeth as Noland speaks.
"Venusaur quick use Frenzy Plant!" Noland calls. Venusaur lets out a mighty roar, summoning multiple vines and shoots them forward heading for Zippo. Over with Zippo he's still groaning from poison damage as Ritchie speaks.
"Come on Zippo you can Do it!" "Pika!" Ritchie along with Sparky cheer as over with Zippo he hears their cheers and lets out a roar. Zippo fights through the poison, covers his body in an orange fire that goes into his right fist and punches the ground creating a large crack. The flames travel through the crack and are easily burning through the vines. Once the vines are gone the flames head for Venusaur as Noland speaks.
"Venusaur use Protect!" Noland calls and when Venusaur goes to do that it suddenly bursts into flames because of the burn status. Noland grits his teeth as Ritchie speaks.
"GOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Ritchie yells as a couple seconds later the Blast Burn makes contact with Venusaur and creates a big explosion causing the battlefield to shake and creates a strong gust of wind. When the shaking along with the wind go away there's a big cloud of smoke making everyone look at the battlefield to see the results. When the smoke clears it shows that Noland's Venusaur is still standing while having burn marks all over its body. The Sunny Day goes away as up in the stands Verity speaks.
"It's still standing?!" Verity says in surprise as back on the battlefield Ritchie's pretty surprised too as over with Zippo he's panting heavily with steam coming off his body and is looking at Venusaur. The two mons continue to look at each other until a couple seconds later Venusaur closes its eyes and falls on its stomach. Venusaur reverts back to its normal form meaning that it can't battle anymore as the ref speaks.
"Venusaur's unable to battle Zippo the Charizard is the winner! Seeing as Frontier Brain Noland has no more Pokémon left the challenger Ritchie of Littleroot Town is the victor!" The ref calls making Ritchie smile as he speaks.
"WE WON!" "PIKA!" Ritchie along with Sparky let out a loud cheer while Zippo roars in victory. Up in the stands Verity speaks.
"They won!" "Pip!" Verity along with Piplup cheer as Sorrel speaks.
"They did it" Sorrel says while having a smile on his face as over with Scott he smiles too. Back on the battlefield hidden inside Ritchie's shadow we see Marshadow, who's happy that Ritchie won. Over with Noland he's surprised that he lost but then smiles and begins walking on the battlefield heading towards Venusaur. When he makes it, he bends down and speaks.
"Hey Venusaur, are you okay?" Noland asks as Venusaur wakes up and nods making Noland smile as he then helps the mon stand back up. Over with Ritchie he along with Sparky have made it over to where Zippo is and wrap the mon in a hug as Ritchie speaks.
"Great job Zippo I knew you could do it!" "Pika!" Ritchie along with Sparky say with Zippo nodding as he hugs them back. Ritchie then feels his Pokeball's wriggle as Tundra, Lola, Jelly and Steel come out of their Pokeball's. Ritchie looks at them and speaks.
"You guys were great too, thank you!" Ritchie says making the 4-mons happy as they also congratulate Zippo making the fire lizard smile. After that they then see Noland along with his Venusaur walking over to them. Once they get close enough Noland speaks.
"Well Ritchie you've defeated me and how did your Charizard manage to dodge Venusaur's attack while he was in his recharge phase?" Noland asks as Ritchie speaks.
"Even though Zippo hasn't fully mastered Blast Burn I've been having him increase his evasiveness whenever he uses Blast Burn so that he's not just stationary." Ritchie responds with Noland nodding as he speaks.
"I see that was a good idea and you have earned this." Noland says as he pulls out a gold coin and speaks.
"This is called the Knowledge Symbol it's proof of your victory against me congratulations." Noland says as he hands Ritchie the coin with Ritchie taking it. Ritchie looks at it and speaks.
"We got the Knowledge Symbol!" "Pika!" Ritchie, along with Sparky and his other Pokémon let out a loud cheer making Noland along with his Venusaur smile. A few seconds later Verity, Sorrel and Scott have made it to where they are as Verity speaks.
"You did it Ritchie you beat Noland!" "Pip!" Verity along with Piplup say as Sorrel speaks.
"Congratulations" Sorrel says while having a smile on his face as Scott speaks.
"Good job in winning your first Frontier Battle Ritchie you along with your Pokémon did well." Scott says with Ritchie nodding as Noland pulls out something from his pocket and speaks.
"Also, Ritchie take this. This is a frontier portfolio where you can put your symbols in. This is the least I can do after you gave my Pokémon and I a good battle." Noland says with Ritchie nodding as he takes the item and tells Noland thank you. When Ritchie puts it away Scott speaks.
"So, Ritchie for your next Battle Facility I was thinking that you should take on the Battle Arena next." Scott says with Ritchie nodding as he speaks.
"Cool I was thinking on taking that one next too but before that we're going to head over to Pewter City so that Verity can have her contest then once that's done we'll make our way for the Battle Arena." Ritchie responds with Noland and Scott nodding as Noland speaks.
"Good luck on your future Battle's Ritchie and let me tell you this. If you thought that today's battle was intense then I hope you're ready for the other Frontier Brain's as they have surprises of their own too." Noland says with Ritchie nodding, as after that the group say goodbye to Noland and Scott and begin heading for Pewter City. As they're walking Sorrel looks at Ritchie and speaks.
"Again, Ritchie congratulations on your victory against Noland." Sorrel says as Ritchie speaks.
"Thanks, I was surprised that Noland Mega Evolved his Venusaur, and it makes me wonder if the other Frontier Brains have access to Mega Evolution too or something else." Ritchie says with Sorrel and Verity nodding as Verity speaks.
"Well, I'm confident that you'll be able to beat them like you did with Noland today." Verity says with Ritchie nodding as he speaks.
"Yep, but before the Battle Arena we need to head for your contest in Pewter City." Ritchie says with Verity nodding as she speaks.
"Yep, and I'm going to win it!" Verity says happily making Ritchie along with Sorrel smile as they continue to walk forward the chapter comes to an end.
