Who Drew It?
Murder Mystery
Undetermined date in the future.
Two patrol officers were walking along Piers 52-54, checking the security of the new Esplanade. The ribbon-cutting opening was two weeks ago, and former Congressman Drew Cain gave a speech about the planned expansion to tear down the old offices and studio apartments, including an art studio owned by former serial killer Franco Baldwin. He said he was getting rid of the sordid history of the PC Waterfront and his intent to revitalize the area. His press release included new apartment buildings and shops, relocation of the launch to Wyndmere to Pier 57, the last pier, and considered the industrial district. He also laid out plans to expand Bobbie's Diner, formerly known as Kelly's Diner, to a trendy restaurant and replace the boarding rooms with business offices. The proposed name of the restaurant is Esplanade Ristorante. Drew also announced his plan to run for Senator of New York.
The proposed name change angered most PC residents, who adjusted from the long-time name Kelly's to Bobbie's Diner, the namesake of beloved nurse Bobbie Spencer. This prompted the start of a petition to keep the name intact.
Officer Blake says, "I had to watch Drew Cain cut a ribbon and suggest changing Bobbies. My sister rented a room above Bobbie's to save money while she went to school."
Officer Meyers says, "My mother used to wait tables at Kelly's and told me stories about the Spencers, Ruby, and she met Miguel Morez before he became famous. I can't believe that after he was recalled, he's running to be a senator of New York."
As they walk to Drew Cain's campaign office, the officers nod in agreement. Drew had a sign listing "Drew Quartermaine for Senator." Someone crossed off the "Quarter" part of the name and added "Shmuck" after Senator.
Meyers sees a body slumped on a bench and says, "Drew Cain hasn't done a good job cleaning up the Waterfront. This is the end of our shift, and we have to roust a drunk."
Blake looks at the form lying on the bench and says, "That is no drunk. It's Cain, and he's dead!"
"Shit! We've got to call it in." He calls the PCPD and says, "This is Officers Blake and Meyers; you need to wake the Commissioner and the Mayor. Drew Cain has been murdered."

Kai tries to explain to Trina all the reasons why he's having the surgery. He's already told Drew he's having the surgery scheduled for the following week.
Portia still thinks it's an ill-informed choice.
Curtis has spoken to Trina earlier about accepting Kai's choices, even though she disagreed with him.
Trina says, "While I don't trust Drew's intentions, it is your choice. I'll wait outside while you have the surgery and be there when you are in the recovery room."
Kai pulls Trina to him and kisses her. "I know what I am doing. I trust Drew, and I accept the risks."
Willow tells Drew she needs to make peace with Michael and that she is flying to Germany to see him. Drew thinks it is a bad idea and tries to persuade her against going. "Drew, I don't think I should take the kids from Michael. Despite our separation and filing for divorce, he is a good father, and the kids love him."
"Willow, you signed papers for me to be Wiley's and Amelia's guardian should something happen to you. I want Scout, you, me, and the kids to be a family."
"I think I was too hasty; Michael is still their father. Jason was right; I should talk to Michael before moving forward with you."
"Jason! Of course, it's Jason in your ear. My brother is a thug and a criminal. He shouldn't be around Wiley or Amelia."
"Jason is their uncle. Michael wants him around the kids. Besides my mother, Jason has been the only person who has encouraged me to make decisions for myself."
"Willow, we love each other. We should be making decisions together."
"Well, maybe you are right. I need time to think."
"Of course." Drew kisses Willow, and they make love. She begins to think Drew is right. She takes a shower to prepare for work. She hears hushed voices from the front door as she leaves the bedroom. It's her mother and Drew arguing.
Nina says, "If I tell Willow the truth, she will hate you."
"She will hate you too, and I don't think you want that."
Carly tells Drew she won't let him take the kids from Michael. "Michael is healing and is on his way home soon. Allow Willow and Michael to sort out their marriage and custody."
"Carly, Wiley, and Amelia love me. They rarely ask about Michael. I'm a better father than Michael."
"There is no way I will let that happen. I have Diane on standby if you try to take the kids away. You have no legal rights!"
Jason walks in on Drew, telling Danny he can't see Scout anymore. "I think Jason is a bad influence on you, and it's rubbing off on Scout." He places his hand on Danny's shoulder, and Danny pushes Drew off him. Jason charges Drew.
"Get your hands off my son. Leave now, or I will relish beating you up again."
Danny tells Drew to go to hell and that he will see his sister if she wants him to.
Drew shrugs them off and says, "I'm a Congressman now; you can't touch me."
Elizabeth waits in the car while Lucky runs into Bobbies to pick up a couple of muffins and lattes. Elizabeth has about two more weeks in her chair, and Lucky is still hanging around, playing the hero. When Drew approaches her, she is already annoyed at relying on others for help. He's had a few bad weeks and thinks a friendly face could lift his spirits.
"Elizabeth, good morning. I hear you are getting out of that chair soon."
"Yeah, I'm getting physical therapy. Soon, I'll be on crutches." Lucky walks out, talking to Kristina, his hands full; she continues, "And then, if I'm lucky, I can ditch my helpful aide." She smiles sweetly at Lucky.
"Well, I want to discuss a project I have in mind once the vote on the eminent domain on Sonny's piers is in my favor."
"It's not a done deal. The vote hasn't been scheduled, and you don't know how I will vote."
Lucky arrives with Kristina and sets the tray on the car's hood. "You have a lot of nerve. First, you are going after Sonny's piers, and Sidwell is helping to finance you."
Elizabeth says, "Sidewell, the guy who tortured you and Issiah and could have killed all of you, including Anna and Jason? That Sidwell?"
"Yeah, that guy."
"Elizabeth, Lucky, Jenz is a businessman. He wants to improve the city. He's never been accused of any crimes in the US, unlike Sonny or Jason."
Kristina says, "Didn't you do a stint in Pentonville? You're no saint, either. I also heard you are looking at homes in DC for Scout and are bringing your mistress, Wiley, and Amelia, to live with you. How could you do that to my brother and Sam's memory?"
"I went to prison for Carly, and look where that got me. Helena and your crazy family ruined my life and tried to control me for years. Kristina, Sam is dead, and I am Scout's father. I want her with me. It will be Willow's choice to be with me, and as a mother, she's more likely to get custody."
Kristina tries to charge at Drew, but Lucky holds her back. He whispers, "Not now. He's not worth it."
Drew says, "Elizabeth, I'll be in touch. I have a proposal I want to run by you. I'm sorry if I upset you, Kristina; you can visit Scout if you call ahead."
Kristina shrugs Lucky off her. "You should have let me deck him!"
Elizabeth laughs, "It's tempting, isn't it? Lucky, I need to be at GH. Can we leave, please?"
"Sure, Kristina, I'll see you at Charlie's."
