Chapter 1: Ten Years Later and Old Faces

Scene 1: Ula'Ula Island, Mount Lanakila, Pokemon League

The biting wind whipped around Elio and Hau, stinging their cheeks as they stood on the precipice of Mount Lanakila. Ten years had etched themselves onto their faces, sharpening their features and adding a layer of maturity that contrasted sharply with the youthful exuberance they once possessed. The Alolan sun, usually a comforting presence, felt particularly harsh at this altitude, reflecting off the pristine snow that blanketed the landscape.

Before them stood Mamoru, the Captain of the Champion's Elite Guard, a figure of immense strength and unwavering loyalty. His normally stern face was etched with a hint of pride as he watched Elio command his Incineroar. Flames danced around the powerful Pokemon, illuminating Elio's determined gaze. He moved with a grace and confidence that only years of dedicated training could instill, a far cry from the naive boy who had first embarked on his island challenge.

"Alright, Incineroar, Flare Blitz!" Elio commanded.

With a roar that echoed across the mountaintop, Incineroar charged, engulfing himself in a torrent of fire. He collided with Mamoru's Kommo-o, the force of the impact sending a shockwave through the air. The Legendary Pokemon stood its ground, but the sheer power of Incineroar's attack was undeniable.

Mamoru watched with a keen eye, observing Elio's strategy and Incineroar's execution. He had been training Elio for the past decade, honing his skills and pushing him to his limits. But today, it was clear that Elio had surpassed him. The battle raged on for several more minutes, a clash of titans that showcased the incredible bond between trainer and Pokemon. Finally, with a well-timed Darkest Lariat, Incineroar managed to break through Kommo-o's defenses, leaving the Legendary Pokemon battered and weakened.

"Kommo-o is unable to battle! Incineroar wins! Elio is the victor!" Hau declared, his voice laced with excitement. He had been acting as the unofficial referee, bouncing on the balls of his feet, eager to celebrate his friend's victory.

Mamoru recalled Kommo-o, a small smile playing on his lips. He walked towards Elio, extending a hand in congratulations. "Well done, Elio," he said, his voice deep and resonant. "You've surpassed me. Your skill, your strategy, your understanding of Pokemon… it's all truly remarkable. I have nothing more to teach you."

Elio accepted Mamoru's hand, a sincere smile gracing his face. "Thank you, Mamoru. But I wouldn't be where I am today without your guidance."

Hau clapped Elio on the back, his grin wide and infectious. "He's right, Elio! You're amazing! Lillie would be so proud of you!"

Elio's smile softened at the mention of Lillie. Her memory was a constant source of inspiration, a reminder of the bonds they had forged and the challenges they had overcome together.

"So, what do you say we celebrate?" Hau suggested, his stomach audibly rumbling. "I heard they opened a new Krusty Burger in Iki Town! Let's go grab a bite!"

Elio chuckled. Hau's appetite was as insatiable as ever. "Sounds good to me. Mamoru, care to join us?"

Mamoru shook his head. "I appreciate the offer, but I have duties to attend to. You two go ahead and enjoy yourselves."

With a final nod of respect, Elio and Hau descended Mount Lanakila, the promise of greasy burgers and laughter spurring them onward.

Scene 2: Melemele Island, Hau'oli City, Krusty Burger

The Krusty Burger in Hau'oli City was a vibrant and bustling place, a kaleidoscope of colors and aromas. The air was thick with the scent of frying potatoes and sizzling patties, a symphony of culinary delights that made Hau's mouth water. They weaved their way through the crowd, finally managing to snag a booth in the corner.

"This place is awesome!" Hau exclaimed, his eyes wide with appreciation. "I'm starving! I'll get us a table." He ran to order his food.

Elio chuckled and took a seat, taking in the scene. It was a welcome change of pace from the rigorous training he had been undergoing.

"Can I help you sir?" a voice suddenly spoke.

Elio looked up to see a young man with a kind smile holding a notepad and pen. He looks vaguely familiar. "Yes, just a moment."

"Name for order?" the man asked again.

"Elio" he stated simply

The server stopped writing in his notepad and looked up to Elio with a shocked expression. "Elio? Is that really you? It's been so long!"

Elio stared at him, trying to place the familiar face. "Wait… Liam? Is that you?"

Liam's face lit up with a wide grin. "The one and only! Wow, I can't believe it's you! What are you doing here in Alola?"

Before Elio could answer, another voice called out from behind the counter. "Liam, order up! And who's your friend?"

Elio turned to see a young woman with bright pink hair, expertly flipping burgers on the grill. Her eyes widened when she saw Elio. "No way! Elio? Is that really you?"

"Sarah!" Elio exclaimed, equally surprised. "What are you doing here?"

A third voice chimed in from the cashier's station. "What's all the commotion? Oh my gosh! Elio!?" It was Mark, his face beaming with surprise.

Elio grinned, a wave of nostalgia washing over him. "Liam, Sarah, Mark! It's so good to see you all! What are the odds of running into you guys here in Alola?"

In a moment, Liam, Sarah, and Mark were all surrounding Elio, engulfing him in a group hug. Hau, who had just returned with a tray laden with burgers and fries, stared at the scene with a confused expression.

"Uh, Elio?" Hau asked, his voice laced with curiosity. "Who are these guys?"

Elio chuckled, disentangling himself from the group hug. "Hau, these are my old friends, Liam, Sarah, and Mark. Guys, this is Hau, my best friend."

Hau gave a polite wave, still trying to process the unexpected reunion. "Nice to meet you all," he said, a hint of suspicion in his voice.

Liam, Sarah, and Mark bowed at the same time, "It's nice to meet you too!"

"So, what are you all doing here in Alola?" Elio asked, settling back into his seat. "I thought you were still back in Kanto."

Liam sighed. "Well, things didn't exactly work out for us back home. We were never really good with Pokemon, and it was hard to find decent jobs. So, we decided to pack our bags and try our luck here in Alola. We heard the tourism industry was booming, and we figured we could find work in the service sector."

Sarah nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it's not exactly our dream job, but it pays the bills. Plus, the weather here is amazing!"

Mark chuckled. "And the food is incredible! I've never seen so many different kinds of fruit in my life!"

Elio listened intently, a mixture of surprise and admiration on his face. He had always known Liam, Sarah, and Mark were hardworking and resourceful, but he had no idea they had faced such struggles.

"Wow, I'm really impressed," Elio said, genuinely. "It takes a lot of courage to leave everything behind and start over in a new place."

Liam, Sarah, and Mark looked at each other, a flicker of pride in their eyes. "We do what we have to do," Liam said with a shrug.

"By the way, Elio," Sarah asked, curiosity piqued. "What are you doing here in Alola? Last we heard, you were just starting your island challenge."

Elio grinned, a hint of swagger in his voice. "Well, a lot has happened since then. I completed the island challenge, became the first-ever champion of Alola, and now I'm training to become even stronger." He paused for dramatic effect. "So you are all working for the champion... that's an honor, we thank you for allowing us to work here!" they all bowed once more.

Liam, Sarah, and Mark's jaws dropped in unison. "The champion?" Liam stammered. "You're the champion of Alola?"

Elio nodded, a playful smirk on his face.

Liam, Sarah, and Mark exchanged astonished glances before bowing deeply. "We are honored to be in your presence, Champion Elio!" they exclaimed in unison.

Elio laughed, waving his hand dismissively. "Guys, you don't have to do that! I'm still the same old Elio you knew back in Kanto."

Hau, however, was silent, his eyes fixed on Elio's old friends. He couldn't shake the feeling that he was somehow being excluded from this reunion. He had always been Elio's closest friend, his confidant, his partner in crime. But now, these strangers from Elio's past were suddenly vying for his attention, and Hau didn't like it one bit.

As Liam, Sarah, and Mark peppered Elio with questions about his adventures and his Pokemon, Hau felt a pang of jealousy. He had always known that Elio had a life before Alola, but he had never truly considered the possibility that he might have close friends from his past.

The conversation flowed easily, filled with laughter and shared memories. Elio was clearly enjoying the opportunity to reconnect with his old friends, and Hau couldn't help but feel a sense of resentment. He wanted to be the center of Elio's world, the one who knew him best. But now, he felt like an outsider, a spectator in a scene that he didn't belong in.

The food arrived, but Hau barely touched his burger. He picked at his fries, his gaze fixed on Elio and his friends. He couldn't help but wonder what other secrets Elio was hiding, what other pieces of his past he had yet to reveal. He chewed on the inside of his cheek, trying to suppress the growing wave of jealousy that threatened to consume him.
