Chapter 7: Trouble Happens

The Kanto sun beat down on the makeshift campsite near Cerulean City, bathing everything in a warm, golden light. Lillie, Elio, and Hau laughed as their Pokémon frolicked in a nearby stream, Pikipek splashing playfully at a bewildered Squirtle while Rowlet preened under the shade of a tall oak. It had been ten long years since Lillie had last seen Kanto, and the reunion with her old friends, the familiar scent of the region, and the joy of being surrounded by Pokémon again filled her with a sense of belonging she hadn't realized she'd missed so deeply.

Moments later, a familiar chorus of voices interrupted their revelry. Mamoru, leader of the Elite Guard, stood at the edge of the camp, his face beaming with genuine warmth. Behind him, a small contingent of trial captains – Brock, Misty, and Erika – offered Lillie shy smiles and welcoming nods.

"Lillie! It's been too long!" Mamoru boomed, striding forward to engulf her in a hearty hug. "We heard you were back in Kanto. Welcome home!"

For the next hour, Lillie was bombarded with questions and well-wishes. She recounted her adventures in Alola, her growth as a trainer, and the bond she shared with her Pokémon. The trial captains listened intently, their eyes wide with admiration. Lillie felt a surge of pride as she introduced them to Elio and Hau, emphasizing the crucial role they had played in her journey.

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple, the group dispersed, leaving Lillie and Elio alone near the crackling campfire.

"It's good to see you like this, Lillie," Elio said softly, his gaze fixed on the dancing flames. "Happy."

Lillie turned to him, her heart swelling. "Thank you, Elio. For everything." She reached out and gently took his hand, her fingers intertwining with his. A nervous flutter erupted in her stomach. Ten years. Ten years of unspoken feelings, of suppressed desires. Lillie had changed. She was no longer the timid girl afraid to touch Pokémon. She was strong, confident, and ready to embrace what she truly wanted.

She tilted her head, her gaze locking with Elio's. The firelight danced in his eyes, reflecting the same unspoken emotions she felt brewing within her. Slowly, she leaned in, her breath catching in her throat.

Just as their lips were about to meet, a deafening roar shattered the peaceful atmosphere. The ground trembled beneath their feet. A massive Tauros, its eyes wide with panic and foam dripping from its nostrils, burst through the trees, scattering tents and sending Pokémon scattering in all directions.

"Tauros! Everyone, get clear!" Mamoru shouted, his voice laced with urgency.

The Tauros charged blindly through the camp, its powerful hooves tearing up the ground. People scrambled to safety, their shouts adding to the chaos. Lillie and Elio were caught off guard, separated in the pandemonium.

Elio, without hesitation, stepped in front of the rampaging Tauros, positioning himself between the beast and a group of terrified Pokémon. He knew he couldn't use his own Pokémon without risking serious injury to the already agitated creature.

He braced himself, drawing on the inner strength he had honed over years of battling. As the Tauros charged, Elio sidestepped at the last moment, narrowly avoiding its horns. He delivered a powerful punch to the Tauros's flank, targeting a pressure point he remembered learning from a martial arts master in Alola. The Tauros bellowed in pain and stumbled. Elio followed up with a swift kick to the back of its neck, a technique designed to temporarily stun the creature.

The Tauros collapsed to the ground, its breathing heavy and ragged. Elio, panting and bruised, stood over it, ready to defend himself if it tried to rise again. After a few moments, the Tauros's breathing slowed, and its eyes drooped shut. It was finally asleep.

As the dust settled, Lillie rushed to Elio's side, her face etched with worry. "Elio! Are you alright? You could have been seriously hurt!"

Elio grinned, despite the throbbing pain in his side. "I'm fine, Lillie. Just a little shaken up."

Lillie helped him to his feet, her eyes scanning the unconscious Tauros. She noticed something peculiar. The Tauros wasn't behaving like a wild Pokémon defending its territory. It was scared. Terrified, even.

"Elio, look," she said, pointing to a small, metallic collar hidden beneath the Tauros's thick fur. "This Tauros was running from something. Someone."

Suddenly, the air crackled with energy. A shimmering, iridescent rift tore open in the sky above the camp. An Ultra Wormhole.

From the swirling vortex emerged a group of figures clad in black armor, their faces hidden behind menacing masks. They carried strange devices that hummed with an unsettling energy. Lillie recognized them instantly: Pokémon Hunters. Merciless poachers notorious for capturing and exploiting Pokémon for profit.

"There it is!" one of the hunters shouted, pointing at the sleeping Tauros. "Secure the target!"

The hunters moved with ruthless efficiency, deploying nets and energy weapons. Elio, Lillie, and Hau, realizing the grave danger, immediately summoned their Pokémon.

"Incineroar, Flamethrower!" Elio commanded, unleashing a torrent of fire towards the approaching hunters.

"Comfey, use Draining Kiss!" Lillie cried, her Comfey showering the hunters with a barrage of draining kisses, sapping their energy and slowing their advance.

"Decidueye, Spirit Shackle!" Hau shouted, his Decidueye firing a volley of spectral arrows, pinning the hunters to the ground.

A fierce battle erupted. The Pokémon Hunters, despite their advanced technology, were no match for the combined power of Elio, Lillie, and Hau's teams. Incineroar's flames scorched their armor, Comfey's draining kisses left them weak and disoriented, and Decidueye's Spirit Shackles trapped them in place.

One by one, the hunters fell, their weapons clattering to the ground. Finally, the trio stood victorious, panting but triumphant.

The Elite Guard, alerted by the commotion, quickly secured the remaining hunters. Mamoru, his face grim, approached Elio, Lillie, and Hau.

"We need to understand what's going on here," he said, his voice low and serious. "These hunters are not acting alone. We need to interrogate them."

The interrogation of the Pokémon Hunters revealed a chilling truth. They were part of a larger organization, a shadowy group dedicated to exploiting Pokémon for nefarious purposes. Their current mission: to capture powerful Pokémon and transport them to a secret facility, a 'Pokémon Concentration Ship,' where they would be subjected to cruel experiments and ultimately killed.

The revelation sent a chill down everyone's spines. The thought of innocent Pokémon being tortured and killed was unbearable. They had to do something.

"We can't let this happen," Elio said, his voice filled with determination. "We have to stop them."

A plan was quickly hatched. Elio, Lillie, Hau, Selene, and Gladion would infiltrate the Pokémon Concentration Ship and free the captured Pokémon. It was a dangerous mission, filled with unknown risks, but they were determined to succeed.

Under the cover of darkness, they approached the ship, a massive, ominous vessel anchored in a secluded cove. Using their Pokémon's abilities, they stealthily bypassed the security patrols and gained access to the ship's interior.

Inside, they were met with a horrifying sight. Pokémon of all species were crammed into small, filthy cages, their eyes filled with fear and despair. The air was thick with the stench of neglect and suffering.

A fierce battle ensued as they navigated the ship's corridors, battling waves of Pokémon Hunters. Their Pokémon fought bravely, unleashing their full power to liberate their imprisoned brethren.

Finally, they reached the main hold, where the most powerful Pokémon were being held. Among them, they spotted a familiar face: the Tauros they had encountered earlier. It was clear now why it had been so terrified.

As they were freeing the Pokémon, they were confronted by the leader of the operation, a ruthless man with cold, calculating eyes. He sneered at them, his voice dripping with contempt.

"So, the heroes have arrived," he said. "You think you can stop me? I have the power to reshape the world!"

Suddenly, his eyes widened in disbelief as he spotted Nebby, Elio's Solgaleo, standing protectively beside Lillie. "Impossible!" he exclaimed, his voice trembling. "A Solgaleo… here?"

Elio and his friends fought with renewed vigor, their determination fueled by the leader's apparent shock at seeing Nebby. They overwhelmed the remaining hunters, freeing the last of the captive Pokémon.

As they were evacuating the ship, Nebby suddenly stopped, his ears twitching. He turned towards a large, reinforced cage hidden in a dark corner of the hold, a cage that seemed to emanate a strange, mournful energy.

"Nebby, come on!" Elio called, sensing the urgency in his friend's hesitation. He didn't like the feeling he was getting from that cage.

Nebby seemed torn, his gaze fixed on the cage. He took a step towards it, drawn by an unseen force.

"Nebby, no!" Elio shouted, his voice laced with desperation. "We have to go! Now!"

Reluctantly, Nebby turned away from the cage and followed Elio towards the escape route.

But it was too late. The leader, recovering from his initial shock, activated a hidden mechanism. The reinforced cage swung open, revealing its occupant: a Lunala.

The Lunala, weakened and disoriented from its captivity, let out a mournful cry. Its silver wings fluttered weakly as it gazed at the group with huge, pleading eyes.

The sight of the Lunala sent a wave of shock and fear through the group. Two legendary Pokémon in one place? It was unheard of.

Realizing they were hopelessly outnumbered and outmatched, the leader triggered the ship's self-destruct sequence.

"You may have freed the Pokémon," he shouted, his voice echoing through the ship's corridors, "but you won't escape this alive!"

With the ship rocking violently, Elio, Lillie, Hau, Selene, Gladion, Nebby, and the freed Pokémon raced towards the nearest escape pods. They barely managed to launch before the ship exploded in a blinding flash of light and a deafening roar.

The scattered escape pods sailed through the air, propelled by emergency thrusters. Elio looked back at the burning wreckage of the Pokémon Concentration Ship, a sense of grim satisfaction washing over him. They had saved the Pokémon, but at a great cost. And the knowledge of the Lunala's existence, and the dangerous organization behind its capture, hung heavy in the air.

As if summoned by the explosion, the Ultra Wormhole reappeared, its swirling vortex growing larger and more unstable. The burning wreckage of the Pokémon Concentration Ship was pulled towards the rift, disappearing into the unknown depths of the Ultra Space.

Elio knew, with a chilling certainty, that this was just the beginning. The threat to Pokémon was far from over. And he and his friends would have to be ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
