Pink Crisis Addendum: Return of Kimberly Hart
Earth-2808
The Angel Grove Cemetery was empty except for a single visitor wearing a black coat over a pale pink shirt and white trainers, who kneeled to place a single yellow rose over a tombstone.
Kimberly sighed. This was an impromptu visit. One of the many she made by herself, because she missed her friend.
Trini had been her best friend since they were children, and though they had briefly parted ways when they had both left Angel Grove to pursue their dreams elsewhere, the moment they came back home, it was as if they had never left each other. Trini was the sister she never had… a part of her soul.
She had been through her fair share of heartbreak, but nothing amounted to the pain she felt when Trini was ripped away from them.
She had stayed strong for the others. For Minh, who was hurting infinitely more than herself.
However, she wondered how she would survive in a world without Trini Kwan.
Except now, it had been nine years since her passing. She wasn't forgotten. Kimberly thought of her almost every day, and the pain had gone numb, but it was still very much there.
"I miss you, Trini…" She murmured. "Everyone does… And Minh. I wish you could have seen her yesterday at her tournament. She is so much like you, it hurts sometimes."
"She has your kindness and your smarts, though she got Zack's sense of humour, and picked up that hip hop kido stuff of his, except she took it one step further. She combined it with your mantis style." She laughed, wiping the tears with the back of her hand. "We all try to be there for her, especially Zack and Billy, but we can never replace you. You deserved to be there for her, see her grow up…"
"Nothing is fair, is it?" She asked. "But life goes on… Because what else can we do? I just miss you so much, Trini. Every time something good happens, I want to tell you but then I remember I can't."
Just then, she felt something behind her. Years of being snuck upon by monsters when she was least suspecting them had honed her senses to the slightest changes in her surroundings. Even though she was no longer an active ranger, there were plenty of monsters out there after all of them, wanting to avenge their fallen masters.
She immediately turned around to face whatever was there, her hand reaching into her purse for her morpher. Best case, she was paranoid and it was just another visitor or some squirrel or some animal. Worst, it was one of her old enemies.
To her surprise, it was someone she hadn't expected.
"Billy?" She asked, seeing one of her closest friends, in front of her, except she had bid farewell to him when he left for some intergalactic science conference to Eltar a week ago. There was no way he was back on Earth, this soon. Well, stranger things had happened… But still, something seemed off.
Billy looked different. He had a scar running across the right side of his face from the lower margin of his eyebrow to the level of his lips. He had long hair with specks of grey and sported a thick beard. He wore a grey hoodie over his usual blue ranger suit and a pair of combat boots.
Something was not right. The scar was new and Billy always shaved his beard and trimmed his hair without fail.
"Hello, Kim." He said with a light smile. His eyes pandered over to Trini's grave and his smile waned.
"Here too…" He murmured softly. "I read the files, but seeing it in my own eyes… No matter the universe, I always mess up."
"Billy, what is going on?" She asked. "What are you doing here?"
"I am sorry. This must be confusing." He nodded. "I am Billy, but not from this universe, and I need your help to save all of existence."
She shook her head. Of course, he was from an alternate universe or parallel timeline. Or maybe both. She never understood the difference, no matter how many times Billy, Justin or any of the other Blues tried to explain it to her.
That didn't matter though.
The man before him may not be one of her closest friends, but he was, in some strange way. She saw it in his eyes. And if he needed help, who was she to refuse?
"What are we up against?" She asked with a smile, taking out her morpher.
Hope you liked this. Another thing that will tie into some other things.
This Billy variant is from the 2016 PR comics, and from a point after his final appearance in the Darkest Hour finale.
