A/N:
Essiter1987-Ah, excellent. Well, mostly excellent. Here's hoping the art gets back on track for you two. Orc Lover. Got it. Will hopefully remember that. Also, yes. Why aren't there more stories like that? May need to write something like that on the site myself... I'll think about it. Probably be RWBY related, if it happens.
Nyx has fourteen kids?! ...?! And, I thought the Arcs were bad with eight. Lord, no pun intended, the Gods were horny has heck, especially the Primordials.
Excellent chapter. Love all the praise going to Alfred. If she wasn't a Virgin Goddess I wouldn't be surprised if Hestia developed a thing for the man. He's that good at hospitality.
Also, love the throw down with Eris and now Nemesis. Next chapter's going to be good.
Also, Also, surprised not of the other pantheons have gotten involved yet, but maybe there's some kind of accord between them all.
WE MUST BRING MORE HUMAN MEN X ORC WOMEN STORIES INTO THE WORLD! Seriously, human men falling in love with monster girls feels criminally rare. Disney itself has Beauty and the Beast. Someone on DeviantArt even perfectly gender-bent that and called it Handsome and the Beast and it's GLORIOUS! Vivian is such an adorable beauty, even as a beast. Point is, I'm tired of male monster x female human. GIVE ME HOT MONSTER WOMEN! Not even anime has stories like that. All I can think of is Monster Musume. Anyone know any stories where a human man falls in love with a female monster and it works out? Movies, comics, anime, video games; ANYWHERE!
I was shocked when I found out Poseidon had more illegitimate kids than Zeus. Hestia would have good taste if she did. Oh, yeah. Remember, gods are selfish in mythology. They're usually a "not my circus, not my monkeys" type beings. None of them is taking a threat like Nyx seriously. They'd only get involved when it's already too late and Nyx won.

There are six volcanoes in Greece, each holding one of Hephaestus's workshops. In these burning workshops were weapons, armor, and tools for the Servants of Hephaestus, from the Ancient Cyclops to the Abandoned Sons of Themyscira. It is said that Hephaestus will always be found in the volcanoes, but it is by pure luck for most mortals to find him.
At this time, the Smith God was in the Milos Volcano, hammering away as his loyal workmen forged around him. Hephaestus was a massive man covered in work scars, burn scars, and soot. His massive hands were covered in callouses from centuries of hard work, his long hair covered in soot and singes from the fires of his forges. He was only able to stand thanks to one of his automatons holding him up due to his lame leg from when Zeus threw him off of Olympus, severely crippling the god.
As the god was hammering something away on his anvil, he quickly glanced behind him before immediately returning to his work. "I must admit, I expected you to be here earlier, Diana."
"Glory to Hephaestus, God of-"
"Spare me the honorifics, little sister. For one, we don't have time for that. For another, you don't respect me in such a way."
Diana's hand twitched. "I do respect you, brother. I respect all of the gods."
"The only ones who truly respect me are my sons and my cyclops. All others only come to me when they desire something, such as how you desire weapons and armor."
"You know," Diana asked.
"Of course, I know. All of Olympus knows. Nyx is finally coming to claim what is hers."
Wonder Woman looked back at Batman.
"I don't mean your mortal lover, Diana." Wonder Woman was about to say something. "Don't try to deny it. You don't get to be the ex-husband of the Goddess of Love without noticing these things. It's evident to most that you both have feelings for each other, but your pride prevents either of you from taking what is yours."
"Wonder Woman doesn't belong to anyone," Batman said.
"And what of her heart," Hephaestus asks as he looks back at Batman.
He didn't answer at first. "Lord Hephaestus, you said you knew we'd be here. I'm assuming that means you've already begun work on what we need?"
"Began? I'm almost finished. Your armor is already complete, mortal," Hephaestus said as pointed his hammer toward the wall. Batman looked to see an exact replica of his suit, but it had a certain luster to it. Even a mere mortal could feel the magic radiating from it. "Forged using pure adamant, the exact same metal used to forge Cronus' sickle."
"The same sickle he used to castrate Uranus," Batman asked.
"Ah, aren't we a wise one? With that armor, your fists would be able to harm even Thanatos. It will also bless your mortal weapons to deal damage to Nyx's forces. As for Nyx herself... it's useless."
"I thought as much."
"Nyx is a being beyond this world. Gaia couldn't defeat her, so nothing born of her flesh could best Nyx either. Only a god could hope to defeat Nyx."
"But there is no god powerful enough to best her," Wonder Woman said.
Hephaestus put down his hammer and turned toward his sister. "That may not be true." He then walked over to her, gently grabbed her arm, and raised it up to Diana's eye level. In front of Diana was her bracelet.
She stared at it before looking at her brother. "I've only taken them off for the worst of situations. I know my limits. I'm not powerful enough to beat her."
"Do you know your limits, Diana?"
"What?"
Hephaestus released her arm and walked back to his forge. "Still, there is one other who has the potential to best Nyx. One not yet of this world."
Diana's eyes widened before she looked down... and placed her hand on her stomach. 'Do I... Do I truly have to fulfill the Prophecy? Am I truly The Mother? . . . Do I... Do I WANT my child to be the one to fulfill it? To have to be the one to defeat Nyx,' she asked herself. As a teacher, she would be proud if her child defeated a being as powerful as Nyx. However, her motherly instincts make her want to keep her child safe.
'Motherly instincts,' Wonder Woman thought before shaking her head. 'I'm not a mother. I'm not a mother.' She took a deep breath. "Lord Hephaestus, about the other weapons?"
Hephaestus slammed his hammer down before using tongues to pick up his creation. He then drenched the creation into the pool next to him, steam hissing into the air for a moment. He then lifted the item, revealing an amulet that crackled like lightning. He then placed it on a cart, and the two heroes finally noticed it, seeing many weapons on it. The Smith God wheeled it over toward them.
"I understand your eldest son is not in your kingdom as of now, mortal?"
"He has other duties to fulfill," Batman said.
"Well, when he returns, give him these," Hephaestus began as he pointed at a pair of vicious-looking Escrima Sticks. "The Fangs of Python. Forged from the snake slain by Apollo himself. The fangs of the beast had a poison powerful enough to threaten gods. It did nearly kill Leto while she was pregnant with Apollo and Artemis, after all."
"For your second eldest, I bestow on him the Stymphalian Wings," he said as he showed a pair of guns that had a wing pattern engraved on them. "Like the birds themselves, the ammunition of these weapons is endless, so long as the wielder lives."
Batman glared at Hephaestus. "Are you saying it feeds off of life energy?"
"Nothing so dramatic. Stamina is more accurate, though. As long as your son is in good health and able to fight the good fight, these will be his greatest partner. The Stymphalian Birds were some of Ares's greatest creations, commissioned by Hera herself in order to bring death to Hercules. They nearly succeeded. That shows the power of those creatures, as well as these fine weapons."
"I still don't like Jason using guns."
"For your youngest and final son, I bestow the Staff of Hermes," he said as he showed off an impressive-looking staff. "Hermes himself blessed the staff, along with the Four Winds. With this staff, the wind will be for the boy to wield as he so pleases. Even flight will be a possibility. Though he will not be as fast as Hermes, he will still have great speed at his disposal, and be able to perceive that which others cannot."
"Now this one, I personally enjoy. For your armored soldier, I bestow upon him the Bolt's Eye," he said as he showed the amulet he just finished. "Place this amulet into the soldier's armor, and he will be blessed by Zeus himself. His power will be unlike any others, save for you and Diana, of course."
"Anything for Batwoman?"
"She is one I cannot bless. Orders from Artemis."
"Why would Artemis prevent her from receiving blessings," Wonder Woman asked.
"Because SHE wants to bless the warrior. Now, last but certainly not least, Diana, is YOUR armor."
Wonder Woman looked to see her armor, looking exactly like hers, save for the full-body armor beneath it. It was radiating magic.
"Adamantine," she said in wonder.
"Did you believe your mortal would be the only one I'd bless such sacred metal to?"
Jason fired at Nemesis, who nonchalantly voided the bullets with mere tilts of her head. She then tried to whip him, but Jason was able to duck, weave, and jump out of the way of her strikes.
"Mm. Impressive, for a mortal," Nemesis said. She then held up one finger and blocked Tim's staff.
"No way," Tim said in shock.
"Please. Did you honestly believe you could strike me," Nemesis asked as she coldly glanced at Tim.
Tim then smirked. "Nope." He then pushed a button on his staff, the taser function activating. The electricity could be heard, Nemesis was covered in sparks, but she still looked unimpressed.
She raised an eyebrow. "That's the extent of power you can unleash against a Daughter of Nyx?"
"Yeah, in hindsight, using electricity against someone whose mom scares Zeus was a stupid idea."
"Indeed." She then flicked away Tim's staff before preparing to flick him in the head.
However, she was shot in the head, the bullet having enough force to make her stumble away from Tim.
She was then shot several times with high-caliber bullets as Jason ran at her before he drop-kicked her.
But Jason's kick only made her skid back a mere foot at best.
Nemesis then grabbed Jason's leg before slamming him onto the ground back first, creating a small crater. Jason could feel and even hear some of his ribs break, practically seeing his spine getting cracks on it as he coughed up blood.
Still, Jason gritted his teeth and shot Nemesis in the face, the goddess actually grunting in pain as she held her face, glaring at Jason with a glowing red eye through her fingers. When she lowered her hand, she showed that whatever wound she had was already healing, the only sign of damage being the golden ichor on her face. She then spat out the bullets that Jason shot into her head.
"I must admit, you are quite impressive, mortal. No. Jason Todd. Still, it's odd. I sense magic radiating from you. Magic you haven't tapped into yet." Jason just glared at Nemesis. "I could help you unlock it. Help you unleash your true power and potential."
"Lady, I already have a damn good teacher. And I get ordered around enough."
"Shame," Nemesis said as she turned her whip into a sword, preparing to impale Jason. "You would have made a good acolyte. DIE."
Robinrangs stabbed into Nemesis's back.
"Hm?" She looked back to see the weapons stabbed into her, all five of them beeping. The explosion sent her flying off of Jason, the goddess landing in the nearby pool.
"JASON," Tim yelled as he ran over to his brother, helping him to his feet. "You alright?"
"I've got some broken ribs, my spine is ready to snap, and I'm coughing up blood. Just like my Friday nights."
Splashing water was heard, the brothers looking to see Nemesis land in front of the pool, looking angry as water dripped off of her.
"We're dead, aren't we," Tim asked.
"Probably... but let's keep giving her hell," Jason said as he and Tim took their fighting stances.
"The only one 'giving hell' will be me when I send you back to Hades where you belong, boy."
"Pissed that I cheated death," Jason asked mockingly.
"Mortals have no right denying Thanatos his prize. In fact, you're now too valuable to be given back to Hades. I'm sure Thanatos will enjoy having you for a trophy... until you're ready to be my herald."
"Great. First the Goddess of Discord was flirting with me, now the Goddess of Revenge thinks she can own me."
"Eris wanted you, did she? That only increases your value," Nemesis said as she cracked her whip. "Kneel before your goddess, boy."
"Come and make me."
Nemesis glared at Jason before she got ready to charge at him.
However, she was blasted from above by a blue laser that plowed her into the ground.
Jason and Tim looked up to see Batwing fly down toward them. "Heard you guys were having a party."
"Yeah. Hope you brought some extra snacks," Tim yelled up.
Nemesis burst out of the ground and flew toward Batwing, grabbing him by the throat. "You insolent little maggot!"
"Sorry, ma'am. But I'm actually a bat." Batwing then held his arm up underneath Nemesis's chin and fired a Batarang, making the goddess release him. Batwing immediately flew away.
Nemesis growled as she prepared to chase after him, only to hear the roar of a motorcycle. She looked toward it to see Batwoman race out from some shrubbery, using some of the shattered ground as a ramp and jumped off as her motorcycle crashed into Nemesis.
Nemesis fell toward the ground, but landed on her feet, holding up the motorcycle before hearing a clicking. She looked to see Jason pointing his gun at her.
BANG-BANG-BANG.
Nemesis looked to see that Jason had actually shot the motorcycle's gas tank. "Mm."
BOOM.
Batwoman walked up next to Jason. "You owe me a bike."
"Put it on my tab."
"So, who was the rocker babe?" Nemesis then walked out of the fire, not so much as a piece of soot on her vest. "Who IS the rocker babe?"
"Batwoman, meet god. God, meet Batwoman," Jason went snarkily.
"So God's a chick. Knew it."
"Don't get too excited, Kate. That happens to be Nemesis, the Greek Goddess of Revenge."
". . . So Bruce was serious. We're protecting Gotham... from literal fucking gods?"
"Yup."
"We're screwed."
"You have no idea, mortal," Nemesis said as she raised her hand. "Let me show you just how powerless you truly are," she said as dark clouds began to cover the sky, the uncovered areas turning blood red. "This is what happens when you mortals foolishly challenge the gods!"
Batwing flew behind his three teammates. "Anyone got any ideas?"
"Hope we survive this," Jason said.
"Considering we're up against an actual goddess, that might be our only suggestion," Tim said.
"Well, shit," Batwoman said.
Nemesis was about to swing down her hand to activate the magic she had conjured.
However, another, fairer hand grabbed her wrist.
Nemesis's eyes widened as her spell immediately vanished, the sky now turning black... as night.
"That's quite enough of that," a beautiful voice said.
Nemesis looked behind her, fear evident in her eyes. "M-Mother."
The heroes stood across from the goddesses, all of them nervous just by LOOKING at the one who stopped Nemesis.
"So... Tim... I take it THAT'S Nyx," Jason asked after a heavy gulp, sweat dripping down his cheek, his hands shaking.
"Nemesis called her Mother, she stopped Nemesis by just showing up, and the sky turned night black the moment she appeared. Yeah. This is the final boss after Bruce."
"I've been on tours in Iraq, helped take on the worst of the worst in Gotham, saw some messed up freaks on missions for the Justice League, and even survived one of Darkseid's invasions. None of that scared me as bad as the vibe I'm getting from this chick," Batwing said.
"That beauty is basically a god among gods in Greek Mythology," Batwoman began. "I can't even be happy about that. I've never been this scared of anyone. Are we sure she's not the Goddess of Fear or something?"
"Oh, I assure you," Nyx said as she walked behind Batwoman, shocking the entire group, all of them now frozen in place now that they knew Nyx was right behind them. "Phobos is FAR below me, my dear. He's not even one of my underlings. Loyalty to his father, Ares, and all that.
Batwoman tried to elbow Nyx, but when she saw behind her, there was no one there.
"Is that some sort of dance," Nyx giggled out. Batwoman looked to see she was back to being beside Nemesis.
"Fast. How is she that fast?" Batwoman gritted her teeth as she reached for her cowl. "Batwoman to Watch Tower, we need Flash in Gotham!" No response. That confused Batwoman. "Watch Tower? Watch Tower, respond! This is Batwoman requesting backup in Gotham!"
Nemesis sighed, getting Batwoman's attention. "You mortals can be so disappointingly stupid. Did you honestly believe we'd allow your allies to aid you?"
"Kate?" She looked at Tim, who wasn't taking his eyes off of the goddesses. He then pointed upward.
Batwoman looked up at the black sky. ". . . Nyx is in charge as long as she's around. She's making sure we can't call for any backup."
Nyx clapped. "Let us applaud the young mortal."
"What's stopping us from contacting the League when she's gone," Batwing asked his friends.
"I am, of course," Nyx giggled. "After all, if I was after any of your other mortal friends-" Nyx waved her hand, a sleeping Raven appearing in her arms. "I would have taken them by now."
"RAVEN," Tim yelled in concern.
Jason immediately shot at Nyx, but all of his bullets stopped in midair in front of the smiling Nyx, falling to the ground.
"Shh. The poor dear's sleeping." Nyx giggled as she gently traced her hand down Raven's cheek. "My son Hypnos does such a fine job, don't you agree? Able to allow even demons the bliss of sleep. You know, in any other circumstance, she'd make for a fine champion, much like that Superman you mortals champion so much. However, neither of them is of use to me... now anyway," Nyx said as she waved her hand, Raven vanishing as abruptly as she appeared.
"She just casually admitted to us that can beat Superman whenever she wants," Batwoman said.
"Not even Superman is immune to magic. NO ONE in the League is immune to magic. Calling any of them to help us against this threat would be a terrible idea," Tim said.
"So we're on our own against gods, eh," Batwing said.
Nyx giggled. "You make it sound like I'm preparing to kill you." That got the team's attention. "No, no. Much like your leader, you've all proven to be fine Champions. I already have MY Champion, and I'm a one-is-enough type of woman. But my children. They can take you on as Champions. What say you, my dear Nemesis? Any of these mortals catch your eye?"
Nemesis immediately pointed at Jason.
"Ooh, a fine choice, my dear. He isn't as brilliant as my Champion, but I do appreciate how ruthless he is. Unlike his father, he's tasted blood. A fine warrior."
"He also embodies the true essence of revenge. A Warrior of Retribution. HE will be my Champion."
Nyx clapped. "Aren't you lucky, mortal?"
"Oh, I'm honored. Unfortunately, I'm too busy with my day job in the family business and my night shift is pretty tough. Plus, my boss is a bit of a hardass, so I don't think he'd appreciate you trying to recruit his employees, especially when they're family, so I have to decline."
Nyx giggled. "You mortals are so cute when you think you have a choice. After all, every mortal in this city will bow before me. Then, every mortal on this entire planet will be mine to do with as I please. In short," Nyx began as she raised her hand. "You already belong to me," she said with a dark smile as magic collected around her hand.
"Hm? Well, he arrived sooner than expected," Nyx said as she looked up at the sky.
"Mother, should we retreat?"
"It isn't time for him to know my face just yet. It seems the Fates favor you this day. You get to keep what little freedom you have. For now. Hypnos."
Before any of the heroes could react, they all fell to the ground, dead asleep, except for Jason, who fell to one knee, trying to desperately stay awake.
"Impressive." He looked up to see Nyx standing over him, her face hidden by darkness as her hair flowed beautifully in the wind. "It seems the magic that brought you to life is more special than I had thought. Still..." Nyx knelt down and gently caressed Jason's cheek in a motherly way. "It's time to sleep, my dear. And don't worry. You... and the rest of your friends... will NOT remember my face. Sweet dreams, my pet." Nyx then kissed Jason on the forehead.
Somehow, that was all that was needed for his will to break, Jason falling asleep.
Jason groaned as he opened his eyes. He sat up and looked around. "My room?"
The door then opened, and Jason looked to see Alfred come in. "Ah, Master Jason! Thank heaven you're awake."
"Not the best thing to say in this context, Alfred," Jason said.
Alfred sighed. "No. I suppose not," Alfred said as he walked in, Jason noticing he had medical supplies. Alfred then gently grabbed Jason's head and pulled at his eyelid before shining a flashlight into his eye. When the pupil contracted, Alfred checked Jason's pulse. Alfred then checked Jason's bandaging, the young vigilante hissing in pain as Alfred rewrapped his with fresh bandages.
"Everything seems to be in order," Alfred diagnosed.
"Seems to be," Jason asked.
"Unfortunately, my skills in the medical field do not give me insight on... divine injuries."
Jason looked down. "We didn't stand a chance. Nemesis was one thing, but Nyx? She was on a completely different level. I've fought gods before. I've beaten Supergirl when Ra's hypnotized her, survived a fight against Superman, humiliated Kalibak- Fuck, I took a punch from Diana herself one time! My girlfriend is an Amazon, Alfred! But that!? Nyx is... she's the first person I've ever thought to be... unbeatable. Give me Darkseid. Bruce has beaten him. I mean, remember that whole fiasco with that alternate universe? Codename: Injustice?"
"Master Bruce still researches that file to this day."
"We have the data for the pill. Superman even makes sure everyone in the League has at least one pill for emergencies like another Apokolips invasion or Doomsday showing up. But... that wouldn't work against her. She isn't someone we can beat with tech, techniques, or anything normal like that. She's basically magic, but even I could tell that even a guy like Dr. Fate couldn't beat her. We need something... more."
"I agree."
Jason looked at his doorway. "Bruce."
"Can you stand, or do you need more rest?"
"Please, I can-ow," Jason went as he tried to get back up from his bed, sitting back down.
"Master Bruce, Master Jason is in desperate need of rest. I took x-rays of him in the Batcave's medical bay. Three of his ribs are broken, with two more cracked. Worse yet are the cracks in his spinal cord."
"Wait a moment, Alfred," Jason said, getting the butler and hero's attention. "There was something weird about that pain. It felt like... a jolt?" Jason then stood up, looking as shocked as Alfred. "What the hell?"
"You're confused," Bruce stated.
"Yeah. Even I knew I was beaten up like a pinata. I thought I'd be pissing and moaning, but... I feel... fine. Did you throw me into a Lazarus Pit or something?"
"Don't even joke about that," Bruce said sternly.
"Yeah, low blow, even for me. Still, how am I so... fine?"
"Nyx."
Jason looked up at Bruce in shock. "You mean... SHE did this? Why?"
"We'll save that for the debrief. Come on. Everyone else is waiting," Bruce said as he walked away, Jason following him.
The two then entered the repaired dining room.
"It's like new. How long was I out?"
"Just three days," Luke said.
"About a few hours longer than most of us, actually," Kate admitted.
"Nyx knocked us out for three days," Jason yelled.
"Not Nyx," Tim began. "Hypnos. Her son, the God of Sleep."
"And he just snuck up and knocked all of us out like it was nothing," Jason asked as he and Bruce took their seats.
"Well, he is a god," Luke said.
"How the hell are we supposed to go up against someone who can put us to sleep with just a snap of their fingers? The last villain with a power similar to that was Dr. Destiny and he nearly took out the entire Justice League," Kate said.
"What's worse is that he was just a normal guy," Tim said. "Hypnos is an actual god. I don't think even Bruce can handle a force like that."
"Not before, no." Everyone looked at Bruce.
"You and Diana brought something, didn't you," Kate asked.
Bruce looked over at Diana, who was sitting right next to him and nodded. Diana then lifted what looked like a rug and placed it on the table before rolling it out. It held Jason's new guns, Tim's new staff, and Luke's new power sources.
"Whoa," Jason went.
Meanwhile, in Empire Enterprises.
"Alright, people," Veronica began as she stood up at the Executive Table. "It's been a while since Gotham has officially been placed under quarantine. Literal monsters have been roaming the streets, the sun hasn't shined in the city, and the situation is so bad that the crime rate has been replaced by monster attack rates. We have live footage of petty criminals getting mauled by lions the size of minivans, some of Gotham's top gang lords waging turf wars with monsters out of mythology books, and some of the world's deadliest supervillains taking on freakin' dragons. Killer Croc taking on a multi-headed dragon is still one of the most viewed videos on the web to this day. Now, I want ideas on how to help Gotham."
"Ma'am?"
"Yes?"
"Why are we attempting this?"
Veronica sighed. "Wayne Enterprise is doing its damnedest to keep the city safe. They're developing some next-generation weaponry for the police to handle these things. Sonia, you said that if they can survive this...?"
"Um, Gotham would have the most advanced police force in the world?"
"EXACTLY! And if Empire Enterprise can get on Wayne Enterprise's good side, say help them with this little monster movie problem?"
"We'd have stock in Privatized Policing before anyone else on the market," another executive realized.
"Now we're starting to use our brains," Veronica went, getting the rest of the board excited. "Now, I want some ideas. What can we-" Veronica was interrupted when she looked up and saw Nyx leaning against the glass door, smiling before she beckoned Veronica over with her finger.
"Uh, I have some business to attend to. The rest of you start brainstorming."
"Uh, Madame President?"
"First idea to get the green light gets a pay raise and a one-week paid vacation." That got the executives talking among each other, trying to think of a good way to help Gotham.
Veronica ran out of the room, chasing after Nyx. "What the fuck were you doing," Veronica hissed at the goddess under her breath.
"Oh, I just needed to get you away from your pet slaves."
"They're not my slaves. They're my... well, technically, they might as well be my slaves."
Veronica followed Nyx through her own building, the two reaching Veronica's office.
"Now then, now that you're done with your slaves for the day, let's have a REAL meeting."
"You really dragged me to my own office? Couldn't you have waited?"
"No," Nyx said as she opened the door.
Veronica was shocked. What she saw wasn't her office. Instead, it was a meeting room with a massive table, with six individuals sitting there already. When they all looked at her, Veronica froze, absolutely frozen in terror. What's more, she had no idea how, but she knew the name... of the gods before her.
The one closest to the head of the table was Nemesis herself, the Goddess of Revenge glaring at Veronica. "This is the mortal mother has been using? The thorn in Diana's side? I expected more."
Across her was a handsome man, but he looked dark. His skin was deathly grey, his eyes as black as the night, and his iris a silvery-white color, as if he were already dead. It made sense... since he was Thanatos. "Mortal or not, she has taken enough lives to earn a minuscule amount of my respect. Very few are able to kill Amazons at that."
A handsome man with droopy eyes that gave him a sleepy look smiled at Veronica as he sat next to Thanatos. He was the Death God's brother, the God of Sleep, Hypnos. "According to my son, Morpheus, she has some interesting dreams. Dreams I don't mind making reality, especially since they would aid mother in her endeavors."
Veronica looked at the seat next to Nemesis, but it was empty.
"Wait for it," Nyx said, as if she read Veronica's mind.
A portal then opened. Out of it walked Eris herself, holding something in her hand. "Well, that was fun," she said with a smile. She then lifted her victim, revealing it to be Granny Goodness. "I must thank my new Champion for sending me to such a fun place. Your leader was certainly entertaining my dear Granny. Tell him that the next time we meet, REAL Discord will rain down upon Apokolips, and he'll lose much more than an eye when next we do battle." Eris then kissed the bloody Granny Goodness and violently threw her into the portal, closing it behind her.
This was indeed a portal of ERIS'S making, not a Boom Tube created by a Mother Box. Veronica knew in her soul this was true, meaning that the goddess who just appeared took on one of the Justice League's worst threats on her own... and won.
Eris then pulled out her chair and sat in it, stretching like she had just woken up from a nap before getting comfortable in her seat. "And who says mortals have no use? My pet just sent his new master to a world of discord and misery. It was like a buffet. You would have loved it, Thanatos, Nemesis. So much HATRED and DEATH. That Darkseid thought he had order in that world, but it was a chaotic HELL. It's almost as tasty as Gotham. Almost. But you just can't beat the madness of humanity."
"This champion you speak of," Nemesis began.
"Hm," Eris went with a smile.
"Who is he?"
"Oh, he's just the cutest little mortal. Has a bit of a white streak in his hair from stress, likes to use guns, used to be vicious and ruthless, but I think I can bring that bloodlust out again."
Nemesis slammed her fist on the table. If it wasn't enchanted by Nyx, it would have shattered. "Choose a new Champion, sister. He is MINE."
"Oooh, tut-tut-tut-tut-tut. Nemi, don't you know the rules? First come, first serve. Ah, who am I kidding!? That rule gets broken all the time! But one rule doesn't: I want that mortal, so he's mine. Pick another one. Mother's Champion has plenty of children to choose from."
"I want that one. He is an embodiment of revenge. If not for his father, he would have continued his crusade of retribution. As MY Champion, he will return to his perfect state!"
"He was a being of discord, causing chaos wherever he went. He nearly killed his own beloved father out of sheer madness."
"He is of greater military might than of sheer destruction like you so desire! He's mine!"
"Is he," Eris asked with a smirk, her eyes glowing.
Nemesis's eyes also began to glow.
The two goddesses were radiating their divine power, their godly magic causing an earthquake in Boston.
Nyx, at the head of the table, snapped her fingers. That action alone caused the sisters to shiver in terror before all of the children looked at their mother, who had a sweet yet oddly terrifying smile on her face. "That's enough, my children."
"Sorry, Mother," both went in perfect unison.
"Also, sorry, my dear Eris, but I have plans for Nemesis and the mortal."
"Aaw."
"Don't worry, my dear. I have a choice for you." Nyx then snapped her fingers, a portal opening in front of Eris.
In the portal, sounds of explosions, people screaming, and a maniacal laugh were heard, Eris's eyes widening in awe and amusement.
"He may not be part of my Champion's family, but he is one of the few beings who have posed a genuine threat to both my Champion and his city. Many times, he proved a threat to Gaia herself."
"He tricked one of those imps into giving him his power. The chaos and madness he spread. The suffering. The insanity. The madness." Eris gave a dark smile. "He's perfect."
"Wonderful. Now then, now that this simple matter is out of the way, on the more pressing business." Nyx and the gods then looked at Veronica, making her shiver.
"Veronica, my dear, take a seat."
"Y-Yes." The gods' magic then flared, save for Nyx. "MY LADY!" They calmed down.
"Children, though I am flattered by your devotion to me, that is not necessary. I need this mortal ALIVE. Do I make myself clear, Thanatos?"
"Of course, Mother," he said with a bow as Veronica sat at the opposite end of the table.
"Now then, let us begin our planning... on making sure our dear sweet Veronica here... becomes The Mother."
