THE PLOT
Chapter 1
SG-1 arrived on PT8-109 to complete negotiations and hopefully sign a treaty. To sweeten the deal the FRED rolled through the Stargate loaded with shovels, pickaxes, saws and plowshares. It looked as though they had raided a Home Depot, which they kind of did.
The locals had recently arrived in their most advanced state of development - the Iron age. However the deposits of ore were scant and their facility at smelting and forging the metal was not highly developed. The few items made of iron were rare and extremely costly.
SG-15 had made the initial visit to this planet and found it to be rich in lithium and cobalt. Both of which were much in demand on Earth.
The central village, the largest of the territory with a population of barely three thousand, was hosting the Tauri. They were glad for the alliance with this superior race who were willing to share some advances in exchange for a few tons of rocks.
SG-1 was not only viewed as new friends and allies but as a curiosity. As the team emerged from Stargate, people were waiting for them all along the route to town. The crowds followed growing in size and volume.
The people from neighboring villages swelled the welcoming crowds as the team marched through the town square on their way to the village elders. It was a village wide party, which seemed like a cross between Oktoberfest and a Medieval Renaissance fair. Joyous crowds of men, women and children overwhelmed the team with their curiosity.
Chatting, happy villagers reached out eager hands to touch these people from another world. They were clad in clothing and had weapons unlike anything they had ever seen or imagined.
There were a few, however, who were suspicious of the strangers, fearful of their superior power. These were men steeped in their traditions, unwilling to change their way of life.
Jack O'Neill was walking beside his 2IC Sam Carter, but soon found himself besieged by children and teenagers. Jack glanced over at Carter and smiled. Sam returned a grin. Sam, a few yards distant, was surrounded by some young men who were quite attentive to the attractive blond Major. Her eyes went wide and she gave a surprised yip and glared at one who was a bit handsy. O'Neill was not pleased.
The team was divided by a long reflecting pool surrounded by flowers down the center of the town square. Teal'c and Daniel Jackson were across the square and they were also mobbed by admirers. There definitely was a festive aire. And after a few hard missions this was a relief.
Jostled by the crowds a man came up behind O'Neill. When he got close to him he whispered "Go back where you came from. We don't need you, we don't want you." He said this while stabbing Jack's back with a thin sharp blade. As he fell Jack thought someone shoved him hard and fell upon him. Sam turned to see the Colonel's eyes squeeze shut as he lurched forward. The crowds thought they tripped. That was until the screaming began.
At first neither Teal'c nor Daniel noticed the man attacking O'Neill. At the sound of screaming Teal'c in three steps ran right through the water and pulled the man off O'Neill, as he raised his arm to strike again with the blade. Teal'c turned and struck another man attempting to grab Carter.
Order was restored shortly and the band of three men who instigated the plot were apprehended and banished from the village. The village leader apologized profusely while Jack merely slapped at the dirt on the front of his uniform. He suspected he'd have a bruise from the P-90 that was strapped to the front of his vest. Outside of that he didn't feel too bad. Carter insisted that she look at his back. He, of course, balked and said he was fine but acquiesced - she was always right.
