Neb: The King of the Gods is no more, I do not own Ducktales. What happens if Vincent wears Zues's wreath?
Della and Vincent both stared at the woman in the blue dress and the man in the toga. Also an older man in a toga was laying on the floor.
"This is supposed to be Zues," Vincent commented. "Given how much trouble the Mask of Helios has caused me, I gotta say I'm disappointed."
"Selene, Storkules hi... what?", Della questioned as she pointed at the powerless Zues trying to smite them.
"The gods of Olympus have decided that Zues is a jerk," Selene explained.
"Tis you who are jerks," Zues grumbled. "All I did was steal Selene's Chariot. Zap her stead Pegasus with lightning for more horse power and then crash into a volcano sending lava raining down on Pompeii."
"That's horrifying," Vincent admitted.
"Tis a godly whim," Zues shrugged his comment off. "Now give me back my wreath so I can regain my powers."
"A god needs a magic item to have power," Vincent realized. "Without the wreath you're."
"Powerless," Selene finished his sentence.
"Retired," Storkules also finished his sentence.
"Still all mighty," Zues growled before trying to grab for his wreath, but he couldn't get past Storkules.
"My level of disappointment is growing," Vincent groaned. "These were the people I studied. I religiously read Medusa's tragic story every night as a child for two whole months before I moved on to other Pantheon characters."
"It gets worse, Zues hasn't done a worthy thing since trapping the Titans eons ago."
"What about fighting Typhon?", Vincent argued.
"Who?", the three of them responded.
"Very disappointed!"
"Oh like you could do better mortal," Zues yelled at him.
"Which is why we're here," Selene cut back in as she made the wreath appear in her hands. "We need a new god to take Zues's place."
"The mortal who proves worthy will gain all mighty powers that will make them part of the greatest team of gods the world has ever known," Storkules hyped up the situation. "So we came to the noble family of the epic heroic... wait, where is Donald? Nobody make any epic engravings of this moment until we get back."
"So you want Della, Scrooge, or Donald?", Vincent figured.
"Not Scrooge, he'd just throw the wreath in his bin," Selene shook her head. "We came to recruit Della."
"Ah I see," Vincent nodded. "Della is a more experienced adventurer, she'd know how to handle having powers. Better than I ever did."
Della looked at him and then looked down. Vincent needed a confidence boost after having been stuck in bed for two weeks.
"Selene, I think you should let Vincent would make an amazing god," Della figured.
"The destruction mage?"
"See you've already heard of him," Della pointed out.
"Because he's been ransacking the Pantheon's temples for almost three years," Selene shook her head. "I don't think he's a good fit. You on the other hand."
"Am busy being a mother," Della pushed. "Vincent's already experienced with having magic powers, give the kid a shot."
"Hmmm, ok," Selene decided. "Let's see what he's got."
So the interview was set up. Vincent would be given Zues's wreath to gain temporary god powers. Meanwhile, they'll be watching his progress in a mystical fountain.
Vincent was unsure about all of this. He literally has stated multiple times that he wasn't trying to be a god whenever he went out collecting magical artifacts, but the sooner he fails this, the sooner he can move on.
"Oh hold on," Selene spoke up. "Are you injured?"
"Oh yeah, I got shot at and slashed a few time a couple weeks ago... and thrown off a roof."
"No that won't do," Selene sighed before clapping her hands. "There, you're officially recovered."
"W-what? Why weren't you helping out during the Moon Invasion."
"I was ordered to not intervene," Selene shook her head. "Again, Zues is a jerk."
"Are not!", Zues whined.
"Are too," Della yelled back at him.
"I smite thee!", Zues yelled at her and aimed his non magical fingers.
"How did Lena put it?", Vincent wondered. "I was expecting something more magical, and less... pathetic."
"Alright, we are losing daylight," Selene explained. "I know I'm a Moon Goddess, but finding worthy members of the Pantheon is easier during the daytime." She clapped her hands and the wreath appeared in Vincent's hands. "So, just tell us what God you'll be and put the wreath on your head."
"Well the Sooner he fails, the sooner I'll get my powers back," Zues assumed.
"No," Selene shook her head. "If we don't find a replacement here, then we'll find them somewhere else."
Vincent thought for a moment, what would the others pick? Louie would pick money, Huey would pick Knowledge, Dewey would pick style, and Webby would pick friendship. But what about him, he's been bound to the element of destruction for so long, what if. "I've been forced to be a Mage of Destruction, but now... perhaps I can create instead." Vincent put on the Wreath, and for a moment, he felt his power shift as a Green Aura flowed over top of himself. But then, everything became completely blank white, and Vincent stood in an endless blank void. "What is this? Della, Selene? Where did you go?" He heard Selene's clap again and suddenly everything phased back into place around him.
"I figured this would happen," Selene sighed. "It seems Vincent is tied to a predetermined destiny of destruction. Giving him the power to create only interrupts that flow and throws the whole universe out of order. I supposed I could just let it happen and see if you could create everything back afterwards, but I don't think you want that."
"N-no.. I don't," Vincent sighed as he handed the wreath to Selene and turned away with his head hung low. He remembered when he had lost his memories what Phantom Blot stated.
"Like Magica, you are a blight on this world," the past form of Phantom blot yelled. If you exist you will only bring pain!"
"No wait a minute, what is my destiny? Why am I tied to the element of destruction?"
"That is a question for the Fates, not I."
Vincent grumbled and then turned away to storm off.
"W-wait Vincent," Della responded as she got in front of him. "It's not so bad, being terrifying can be cool."
"Not helping!"
"W-wait hold on, Huey told me about your books and how you were trying to find answers... what was it. Oh yeah!" Della ran upstairs. "Hold on a minute!"
Vincent wasn't sure where she was going with this, but decided he'd give her a chance at least. Then he can put all this god business behind him.
Della came running back downstairs after a few minutes and held out one of Vincent's journals to him labeled The Logic in Destruction. "Remember before you could use all that friendship magic, you were only stuck with throwing crystals to blow things up. Well maybe you just have to figure that out with Godhood. If you can't become a God of Creation, maybe you can find some logic in being a God of Destruction. You know, you don't have to cause disasters, just use that power to do good things."
"Blowing stuff up can be good?", Vincent questioned, but then mentally facepalmed at himself. Of course it wasn't all bad, he had been asking that question since he was thirteen and found ways to control his explosions. He'd point them at magical foes and use it to break down barriers. He could even control his explosions size by using smaller magic crystals. This was all before he gained Friendship magic and could fly, seal things away, shoot beams of energy, and create magic shields. "Fine, I can used controlled explosions to maybe prevent disasters I guess..."
"Worth a shot," Selene cut in. "We'll give you one more chance Vincent."
Vincent opened up his book and begun skimming through it. He realized he was actually close to a breakthrough before his destruction magic problem was solved and he no longer felt the need to write in this journal. Maybe he needed to draw from the Path of Order again. "Alright, my predetermined destiny is destruction, but it doesn't have to be evil. As the God of Destruction I can make it so things that halt human progress can be removed, or things that cause human progress to turn in terrible directions can be removed as well."
Selene clapped her hands and Vincent appeared at the Duckburg Pier wearing a toga and the golden Wreath. Instead of glowing green like he was before, he was now glowing red and filled with the power of the Path of Order.
Everybody at the pier appeared to be sad, as the day was filled with cloudy gloom. Ok, so progression was halted do to the poor weather. Vincent could fix that by removing the clouds and allowing sun to shine in. He pointed his fingers at the clouds and they withered away. It was unnatural given his powers revolved around explosions when he drew from the Path of Order, but his destruction magic had changed with Godhood.
The point was, that people were now happy. Vincent was smart, he knew this was where he should probably stop using his powers and let everyone else deal with their own problems. But something about seeing Glomgold hogging a kids ride while a long line of disappointed children waited on him was ticking Vincent off. His blue eyes suddenly radiated as energy begun to spark around him. "Let someone else have a turn Old Man!"
"Old man? Why you little, I am Flintheart Glomgold. No toga wearing teenager can tell me what to do!" Then Flintheart Glongold was zapped into nothingness.
It was better for the rest of the world right? Then why was everyone running away screaming. "No, no, no, I messed up again!"
"Glad you see it that way at least," Selene commented as Vincent was now back in the manor. "Glomgold is fine by the way, I moved him before you could zap him."
Vincent fell to his knees. "I messed up!"
"What, for blasting Glomgold?", Della questioned. "You didn't mess up, that guy had it coming for a long time."
"And who am I to decide that?", Vincent growled. "I... he reminded me of my own old man, always thinking of himself when he's supposed to be setting an example for others. No.. I should have set a better example as someone who knows this. But I gave in to my power. I need time alone."
"Wait Vincent, maybe she'll give you a third shot, best of three."
"Best two out of three Della," Selene corrected her. "Even if Vincent gets it right this time, it still won't change what happened the past two times."
Vincent was already gone, not wanting to hear any of this.
"Ah phooey," Della groaned.
It was later at night Vincent could hear crashing outside. He got up, threw on his brown jacket, left his hat behind as he made his way down the stairs and outside along with Della. Donald was going for a swim in a trash filled pool when a giant monster made of trees and stone grabbed hold of him. The creature had large horns and you could see through it's stomach like a prison cell.
"A titan," Vincent assessed. "I thought they were all sealed away in the underworld! Scrooge and the kids aren't back yet, what do we do?"
"This is your chance," Della grinned at him. "Let's go." The two of them rushed after the Titan into the woods in order to save Donald.
This was no time for Vincent to be feeling sorry for himself, he channeled his friendship magic and begun firing beams of energy at the back of the titan's head. His powers didn't seem to have affect, so he grabbed hold of one of his runes filled it with manna and chucked it at the creature causing the titan to stumble from the explosion. Vincent made sure that time to aim low given he didn't want to hit Donald.
"You're doing great Vincent," Della reassured him. "Keep it up!"
A car suddenly pulled into the woods and a woman in a pink dress got out of it. "Donald," she called out.
"Everything is going according to plan," Storkules commented. "Oh."
Donald was now swallowed by the Titan imprisoning him inside it's stomach. The titan then reached down for the woman, but Storkules caught it's hand and held it back with his own power.
Vincent was so disappointed by the Greek gods he saw, he did forget that Storkules was the god of strength.
"You killed my boyfriend," the woman yelled.
"Who is that?", Vincent wondered.
"Daisy," Della explained. "Donald's girlfriend."
"Ah." Donald wasn't killed though, he was inside that prison now overjoyed by the boyfriend comment. He was definitely saying something, but Vincent could barely understand him when they were talking in person, so being far away definitely did not help with that.
Selene started using beams of light from the moon to blast the Titan back with a blue flame like magic. Storkules started smacking it in the face with a tree.
That victory was short lived when the Titan grabbed hold of both of them and then ate them. Then it ate Zues who tried to grab hold of the wreath.
"So disappointed!" Vincent reiterated. "We need to get other gods here now!"
"There's no time," Della shook her head as she was dodging the Titan. "You're just going to have to blast it yourself!"
"It was impervious to a full blast from the moon, what can I do!"
"I'm sorry I can't help you much more," Della admitted as she was grabbed hold of. "Grab the wreath and stop this beast before my kids and Scrooge get back. He'll eat them, Beakley, and everyone else nearby until it's consumed everything on the planet! Good luck kid!"
Vincent watched his last hope get swallowed by the Titan. Thanks to Selene's magic Vincent was at least healed back again in peak condition, and the wreath wasn't too far away. He'd have to be a god in order to stop this thing. It's just.. a god of destruction, after all the harm he's caused. Aleister had once talked to Vincent about making sacrifices. About how Vincent understood sacrifice and hardships, and how if the whole world ends so will the children. That was Vincent's drive, to make sure the other kids in this world didn't have to go through what he had. If that meant becoming a God of Destruction, then so be it. Vincent ran for the wreath and the Titan reached down towards him to grab him next. He was going to blast it back, but Daisy stood in his way.
"Listen you overgrown lawn statue, I've had enough!", Daisy yelled.
The Titan roared at her and she roared back causing either fear or confusion to slow down the Titan.
Vincent wasn't sure which it was. But he had to respect Donald's new girlfriend, not many people can get into a shouting mach with a Titan and force it to a standstill. He grabbed the Wreath and put it on again, as his Brown Jacket was replaced with a Toga, and the Blue Celtic markings on his hands were replaced with letters from the Ancient Greek Alphabet. The words on his hands read, I destroy to protect.
The Titan reached down to grab for Vincent and Daisy, but Vincent reached out and touched the Titan's hand. His Green Aura extended across the beast's hand and turned it's hand to ash. The Titan fell back in fear unsure how that was happening. The blue energy begun to spark around Vincent again as he begun zapping the creature with blasts of lighting causing other parts of it's body to disintegrate. "Free them!"
The Titan coughed up it's victims in attempt to save whatever remained of itself as it backed away from Vincent and Daisy. Vincent was about to finish it off, but remembered what he had learned from attempting to destroy Glomgold. He sighed before backing off and he could see the Titan looked somewhat relieved by his mercy.
"That was amazing Vincent," Della yelled as she ran over to him.
Daisy ran over towards Donald and had a very touching moment until Storkules self inserted himself as the third wheel of their trio. Selene left to go use the shower.
Everything seemed to be fine, but... Vincent took the wreath off turning back to his old self. "I don't need this."
"But I do," Zues yelled as he grabbed the Wreath. He blasted the already defeated Titan with lightning and shoved it back to the Underworld. "I defeated him. Once more Zues has saved the mortals, defeated the titan, and reclaimed his throne, for I am the mighty Zues!" He then fell off the ledge into the Underworld right after the Titan.
"So Disappointed!", Vincent shouted after him once more. He could have sworn he could hear someone else laughing at Zues down into the chasm.
"Are you sure you wanted to give up godhood Vincent?", Della wondered.
Vincent watched the markings turn from Ancient Greek ones to Celtic ones again. "I think I had enough of gods for a while. Selene mentioned pizza?"
As the group left the Chasm, Hades continued to laugh at Zues until he realized something. "Wait, wasn't that Balor's grand kid?"
