Little Mac pounded on Kirby's door, his fists landing like thunder. The door creaked open, revealing Kirby's wide, startled eyes as she took in his tense stance.
Little Mac: "Kirby! I-I'm so sorry!"
Kirby: "Little Mac! W-where were you? You never showed up to the wedding…"
Little Mac: "I'm so sorry, Kirby. I was stranded on an island."
Kirby: "What?"
Little Mac: "It's true! You can ask my friends. We were all stranded togetha."
Kirby: "Why?"
Little Mac: "I invited my friends to my bachelor's party. Remember? I told you about it. Then I was dumb and said it was okay for K. Rool to switch course. Then a tornado came thunderin' down on us, and we woke up on an island for like five days."
Kirby: "I'm confused."
Little Mac: "I'm sorry I didn't show up to our weddin'. You know I love you and I would never ditch our most important day."
Kirby: "..."
Little Mac: "Please ya gotta forgive me. I-I still wanna get married."
Kirby: "Do you?"
Little Mac: "Yes! More than anything. You can ask the boys, it was terrible. We were trapped and we couldn't use our powers."
Kirby: "Why?"
Little Mac: "I dunno. Ness was sayin' it was the smash yada pyramid. Somethin' like that."
Kirby: "Wha?"
Little Mac: "It was crazy! We all went crazy and tried to eat Pit! I'm not joking."
Kirby: "Oh, I ate Pit once."
Little Mac: "I mean you've eaten everyone at least once before. I'm not talkin' about your suck power."
Kirby: "Neither am I."
Little Mac: "Wait, now I'm confused."
Kirby: "I ate Pit's wings before."
Little Mac: "What the fuck!"
Kirby: "I didn't know Villager cooked his wings."
Little Mac: "Wait, huh?"
Kirby: "Villager fed me Pit's wings."
Little Mac: "Wait, is that why he was in the hospital?"
Kirby: "Could be."
Little Mac: "What the—we're gettin' off topic. Kirby, I just want you to know that I love you and if you would please give me another chance, let's get married."
Kirby: "I dunno, you really hurt me that day…"
Little Mac: "I promise, I'll be there. I won't take any more risky chances like that again."
Kirby gazed at Little Mac's face, the desperation and sadness etched into every line. Her heart softened—she could never stay mad at him. A gentle smile spread across her lips as she took his hand.
"Okay, I forgive you~"
Little Mac: "R-really?!"
Kirby: "Yeah. Let's get married~"
Little Mac: "Oh my god, I love you!"
Grinning, Little Mac scooped Kirby into his arms and spun her around, just like one of those over-the-top rom-com moments. She squealed with laughter, clinging to him as the world blurred around them. When he finally set her down, their eyes met—warm, electric, inevitable.
Then, they kissed.
Around them, other Smashers exchanged bewildered glances, murmuring, "Little Mac and Kirby?" But the two didn't care. Let them stare. Let them wonder. All that mattered was each other.
At their wedding, Little Mac invited all his friends, and the celebration was nothing short of magical. Cheers and laughter filled the air as everyone congratulated the happy couple. They danced, sang, and indulged in the sweetest treats.
Of course, Kirby had a cake all to herself—a towering masterpiece of sugary perfection. The sight of her happily devouring it made everyone burst into joyous laughter. It was a day of love, friendship, and pure happiness, one they would all cherish forever.

Shy Blonde
After the wedding, Ness and Lucas trudged back to Lucas's place, completely drained. Weddings weren't exactly an everyday event, and the excitement had left them wiped out. They wasted no time changing into comfortable clothes—though, as always, Ness opted to use the bathroom. Even now, the whole them being a couple thing still felt a little awkward for him.
Once settled under the blankets, they let the conversation drift, reflecting on the ridiculous misadventure of getting stranded on an island—something Lucas was still low-key traumatized about.
Sensing the tension creeping back in, Ness smirked. "At least we didn't lose it completely and try to eat Pit."
Lucas groaned, burying his face in the pillow. "Ness."
"It took Sonic five minutes."
Despite himself, Lucas snorted, shaking his head. Leave it to Ness to turn even their worst moments into something to laugh about.
Ness: "Five minutes and he was down to eat someone. That's insane!"
Lucas: "It is."
Ness: "But hey, we got out of there alive."
Lucas: "Do you think Pit will stop hanging out with us?"
Ness: "I mean if I were him I would, but it's Pit, so I doubt it."
Lucas: "He's kinda dumb."
Ness: "Whoa! Lucas, that's mean."
Lucas: "C'mon, you were thinking it."
Ness: "You're right. He's really stupid."
Lucas: "I feel bad shit talking."
Ness: "Yeah, what the hell? This isn't like you."
Lucas: "It must be the trauma."
Ness: "What am I saying? You've always secretly been a gossiping jerk~"
Lucas: "Shh! Keep it down, I don't want my shy sweet boy reputation to crumble."
Ness: "It's not like that would hurt me in any way."
Lucas: "Your reputation is already fucked."
Ness: "I know…"
Lucas: "Have you checked Twitter?"
Ness: "I'm too afraid."
Lucas: "Oh no! What if Snake heard me gossiping? Where is he?"
Lucas glanced around nervously, pretending to be spooked, his shoulders tensing as if something lurked nearby. Ness's laughter burst out, light and genuine. Heat rushed to Lucas's cheeks—he'd made him laugh plenty of times, but after everything they'd been through, this one felt different. Special.
Lucas's laughter blended with Ness's, their voices filling the quiet room. As the laughter died down, they locked eyes, still smiling—until those smiles slowly faded into something else. Something deeper.
Their breaths hitched, cheeks warming as an unspoken tension settled between them. They were finally alone. No distractions. No interruptions.
No Sonic to get in the way.
Ness: "Yeah, haha… I'm never sailing again."
Lucas: "Same here."
Silence settled between them once more. Their eyes drifted downward, fixating on their legs as uncertainty lingered in the air. Neither knew what to do next.
Lucas hesitated—he didn't want to push it. Ness fidgeted, still feeling awkward about the whole thing. But why? He'd kissed Lucas before. So why did it feel so different now?
Nate.
Ness's mind swirled with conflicting thoughts, the tension tightening in his chest. He knew he needed to talk to Lucas about everything, but fear gripped him. What if Lucas got mad? What if he made the wrong choice by inviting Nate to stay?
He felt guilty for being dismissive toward his brother, but it wasn't Nate's fault for being the way he was. Mario created him, taught him how to live. Still, he couldn't ignore the damage Nate caused, especially to his friends. He understood why they'd be upset if they found out Nate was back in Smash.
He was stuck between right and wrong, unsure of where to stand. Another thought stung him deep: What if they like Nate more than me? Especially Lucas. Lucas was his, and— no, calm down. Don't be a controlling asshole.
He took a deep breath. Lucas has been crushing on me for a decade. Nate won't change that. He grounded himself trying his best to think of the positive, but deep inside it still gnawed at him.
"Ness?" Lucas's voice pulled him out of his spiraling thoughts.
Ness blinked, a bit startled, before offering a sheepish smile. "S-sorry. I'm a little sleepy. Let's go to bed."
Lucas felt a pang of disappointment as Ness pulled the blanket over him. For a brief second, he thought maybe—just maybe—Ness was about to kiss him. But instead, Ness just looked down, avoiding his gaze.
Lucas mentally sighed as he pulled the blanket over himself, trying to shake off the feeling of unease. He had to remind himself to be patient. Ness wasn't the type of guy to jump into anything lovey-dovey right away. Besides, he could tell Ness was still uncomfortable with the idea of being intimate, especially with a guy—let alone his best friend.
Maybe the other times they kissed were just in the heat of the moment? Lucas thought. He wasn't sure. Ness was complicated, unpredictable—like a whirlwind of emotions that changed in an instant. It was hard to read him, but Lucas knew one thing for sure: he was willing to wait.
And if Ness wasn't into it, at least he tried. Sure, it would hurt, but he would know he gave it his all. That was all he ever wanted—a chance. And now, with this moment finally unfolding, he couldn't be happier. He wished they were already together, but he understood that things took time.
With that reassuring thought, Lucas slowly moved closer to Ness, gently wrapping his arm around the brunet's.
Ness could feel the warmth of Lucas's arm around him, and his heart raced, his cheeks heating up with a blush he couldn't hide. This was really happening. He still couldn't quite believe it. But part of him, deep down, didn't want it to end.
What? No! He quickly tried to convince himself. He liked having someone give him this kind of attention. It's just nice… that doesn't mean I like him or anything. Wanting attention was perfectly normal, especially after everything he'd been through with his broken heart. That's all this was.
Once he told Lucas that he wasn't interested, Ness was sure his friend would understand. He knew how reasonable Lucas was. Everything would be fine. It's just for a little longer.
