I DO NOT OWN TOTAL DRAMA (or mha)

CODY

Cody was in his room, chatting with his friends in discord about the new game they were playing together. He was really in the zone right now, he and his friends were chatting and having fun as they were playing their RPG game. Sure he would have to get another lecture from his mother about staying inside all day and playing games, but he didn't care. I mean what did she expect, Cody wasn't an athletic or social kind of guy, he was a full on 100% nerd and there was no point in denying that.

"Cody! Get down here!" He heard his mother call from downstairs. Cody rolled his eyes and sighed.

"Sorry guys, I have to log off. My girlfriend's calling." Cody told them.

"You mean your mom right." RON_DON47 asked, laughing through the computer audio. "Dude, you gotta get a headset when we have these chats."

"Chill man, he probably meant his imaginary girlfriend." SCARFACE88 added, sharing the laugh.

"Oh haha, very funny. You know what, someday I'll show you guys." Cody said sarcastically, rolling his eyes again. He logged off the game and headed downstairs to what he knew was another lecture from his mother. Today's topic, the importance of not being a total shut in.

Once he made it downstairs, he saw that both his parents were waiting for him in the living room instead of just one. They looked at him with friendly expressions, too friendly if Cody was being honest. It kind of freaked him out.

"Hey guys, what's up?" Cody asked. His parents still gave him friendly smiles, which Cody now found creepy.

"Hi Cody, how have you been? Enjoying the summer?" His mom asked cheerfully.

"I guess." Cody looked back and forth between the two with suspicion. "What's going on?"

"I am so glad you asked such a good question son." His mom said, clapping her hands once. "I've just been wondering if you were lonely at all, even just a little. You can tell me if you were."

"Uh, no I'm good." Cody pointed a thumb towards the stairs. "My buddies online keep me company."

"Right, your friends that you talk to on that computer game that you've never met." Cody noticed the shift in her tone and didn't like it. "It's really a shame you can't meet up with them in person."

"Well, I wouldn't say that, this is just how it is between us."

"Okay, but wouldn't it be great if you had something more, something new." His mom laid out a pamphlet on the table. "Something that will let you meet new friends, maybe even some girls."

Cody picked up the pamphlet in dread, looking at the cover and opening it to read what was inside. It was for some corny, making friends summer camp for those that were anti-social or just shy.

"A summer camp?" Cody said annoyed. "Mom, don't you think I'm too old for this?"

"Don't be so silly, you're never too old to learn social skills."

"Yeah, sorry but no I'm fine with the way things are now." Cody puts the pamphlet in his back pocket. "Thanks but no thanks."

Cody's mom's smile became more strained at this answer.

"Well unfortunately we don't think that's an option, we really think you should do this."

"Do I have a choice?"

"No." This time, both his parents answered at once. Cody looked at his dad surprised and annoyed.

"Dad, seriously?"

"Look Cody, if it was something like sports or some out of state competition then maybe we'd leave you alone. But your mom's right, you need to change it up and stop living like a mole upstairs." Cody's dad dropped the facade. "You better start packing, you leave on Monday."

Cody groaned and headed up the stairs. On his way up, he was unaware that his eyes rolled in the back of his head for a second and then returned to normal. He entered his room and sat down on his bed. He felt frustrated that his parents pushed this on him, though part of him kind of expected this. Cody guessed that they could only put up with him doing nothing until they made him do something.

Cody reached for his back pocket and pulled out the pamphlet again. He looked at the front page and stared at it for the moment. Part of him knew that this summer camp was going to suck, but he figured he should at least read about it before he goes. He opened the pamphlet but the second his thumb touched one of the pages, something unexpected happened. In just a second, his entire body was sucked into the pamphlet, which fell on the bed.

Cody was breathing heavily as he looked around, then realized that something was wrong. He was looking up at his bedroom ceiling, but for some reason he couldn't sit up. He knew he was still standing, but it was like he was still flat on his back. It got even weirder because when he turned around, his eyes widened as he was facing one of the pages of the pamphlet. He moved forward towards the cabin and was surprised that the steps were solid wood like you'd expect from a real cabin. He then tried to open the door to the cabin, but it wouldn't open. Cody figured it might be because there's not supposed to be an inside since it's not real. He left the cabin and walked around, interacting with other objects in the pamphlet.

Cody found this really weird, it was like he stepped in a whole different universe. He then stopped and realized that he never thought about how he was going to get out. He looked up at the ceiling, which was also his front but he couldn't really tell. He decided to just take a chance and reach his hand towards it like before. The second his fingertip touched up, he was ejected from the pamphlet and landed on the floor.

Cody sat up and turned back to the pamphlet in shock. He couldn't believe what had just happened. Was this some kind of dream, or was he becoming a superhero? Either way, Cody needed to learn more.
