Radahn had hoped that the guard wouldn't react quite so defensive at his appearance, not that he would blame them for acting to protect their town. It honestly would have been disappointing if they didn't react to a possible threat. However, it does make speaking with them more difficult. More apprehensive and quicker to conflict.
He started to approach the town wall, where a guard was stationed. Expectedly, he was spotted instantly upon stepping out of the forest. Although, the guard just stared at him while he was moving. Caught in shock Radahn assumed. She was studying his form, looking over his equipment, most likely having never seen an armor set like his. The guard's eyes stayed up at his helmet or hair before snapping over to what he judged to be his sword. When she spotted the weapon, the guard pivoted on her feet to face the town. She leaned over the edge to no doubt issue orders or warn fellow guards. Once done with that she draws an object out from a compartment in her uniform and talks into it. Highly likely that it is imbued with something that allows for fast communication. Radahn knew there was once a small team in the Lucaria Academy who played around with something similar. He's unsure if anything came of it. Impressive of these people to have managed to develop a widespread version of that concept for common guards.
He decided to halt his advance towards the town there, wanting to clarify his intent as a cordial visitor. However, it appears that Radahn perhaps spoke too loudly. The guard stopped what she was doing just to stare at him again. Even more concerningly, from his view over the wall, he spotted many of the townsfolk cease what they were doing only to look in his direction. Radahn questioned if they even spoke the same language, for some time had passed since he announced himself.
Eventually, the guard answered him. "You wish to speak with the mayor?" Her voice was filled with suspicion and trepidation, eyes narrowed with a stiff poster. Considering the direction this conversation is going, it would be wise to talk to the guard on her level. Literally in this case.
Radahn knelt down on one knee, having it so neither one would be looking up or down at each other. The loud sound he made when his knee fell startled the guard, hand clenched tighter on her spear.
"Truly, I seek audience with thy leader, naught but to learn of this land and the folk who dwell within. As thou hast surely marked, mine own home lies far from these shores." Radahn said sincerely, hoping to put an end to the guards unease. His deep voice rumbling, yet still holding that noble tone to it.
And easing her concern it did, at least somewhat. He saw her muscles loosen, and her grip on the spear becoming more lax. Though she remains sceptical of him, its progress to building rapport with the town and obtaining information.
"Well, if you just want to talk with the mayor, that would be fine. Although, you will have to wait until the rest of the guard shows up to escort you to him." She said in a semi-casual voice, still acting as a guard would.
Radahn's passive face changed, now spotting a small frown. He didn't like being escorted at all. In fact, he found it insulting. Not because he thought they could restrain him. But being treated as if he was some mindless beast, wanting to attack at any moment, to be no small amount of disrespect. But, Radahn understood that these people would feel safer. More at ease and most importantly, be more cordial when regarding talking.
"Agreeable terms. When might they appear?" Radahn asked, voice even as his face returned to its passive look. He hoped they wouldn't be long. But it seems he spoke too soon. Because, as if summoned, around seventy guards came charging up the walls. Many holding the same or similar spears to the guard he was talking to. But half of them are welding weapons he didn't recognise. It being held like a crossbow does give away its purpose, though he wonders on where the bolts are being held.
There was a problem however, and it was the fact all of their weapons were pointed at him.
"Lower your weapons! He's peaceful!" The only guard who wasn't pointing her weapon at him said. Her voice loud and full of panic as she tried to calm the other guards, who were hesitant to follow her advice. Radahn's brow knit together and mouth became a firm frown. Gravity magic simmering under his skin, ready to be casted if he was to be attacked. He decided to try and quell the situation too.
"She doesn't lie, I don't wish any harm upon thee." Radahn said, meaning the words fully, but still willing to defend himself. Both his and the guard's words appear to calm them enough, lowering their weapons and standing in a more passive pose. They remain silent however, looking over Radahn.
The guard he was talking to sighs in relief, happy that a fight wasn't about to happen. She turns back to him. "Alright, let me connect the captain and inform him about you talking to the mayor." She said swiftly before pulling out the same object she had before and talking at it. She walks off soon after, probably not wanting Radahn to hear or see the conversation, trusting the other guards to stay civil without her.
No conversation was had in that time, what with the guards being on edge around him. They kept trying to sneak glances at him, looking over his weapon and armor. Few even looked directly at his eyes, before making a face and turning away. He's unsure if glowing eyes are common here and the significance they hold. Hopefully there won't be any problem concerning them, since he won't be anything less than prideful regarding them.
The guard he was talking to walked back to them. "Got orders. Captain has been informed and contacted the mayor about talking to you, and the mayor is willing to have a chat. Me and some of the guards have been tasked with escorting you over there. Name's Claret by the way." Said the now named Claret. Her voice is firm and spine straight. She still held caution towards Radahn, but it was more of a measured calm than the trepidation she had before.
"I am pleased to hear it. You have my thanks for your assistance Claret" Radahn said, meaning every word. He is sure that without her help, or someone similar, these talks would be a lot harder to handle peacefully.
She nodded simply before turning to the other guards and assigning 9 of them to guide him to the mayor alongside her. Once chosen the group led him through the gate on the north wall. The large doors swing inwards, allowing passage into the town which had mostly stilled in activity. It seems the town folks had noticed the large number of guards moving and had retreated into their homes. Though there are few who linger on the streets, and their eyes quickly widen as they spot him entering. Some had probably seen him in the distance over the wall, but it was another matter to see someone 7 and a half meters tall walking right by you.
Radahn steps are loud and heavy, causing some of the people hiding in their homes to have a look at what was causing the noise. Upon noticing Radahn, and the guards around him, many stepped out of their houses to have a proper look at him. He found it amusing, if only from some expressions. Most stared in awe, some had a confused face, few looked afraid. He was familiar with the first and last faces, being a general and Demi-god. However, the confused looks were something he had never experienced. Those, for some reason, he found really amusing.
They were nearing a building, larger than others around it, and in front of it stood a man and a woman. The lady seemed to be wearing a more armored and detailed version of the guard uniform, while the other man wore a type of attire he hadn't seen before. The outfit is no doubt a part of their culture in some way, a culture he would likely have to learn if he wants to further relations. The three of them were not surprised upon laying their eyes on him, they were probably informed of his stature. They were, however, very anxious. He could see their stiff poster, the fretful looking hiding just behind their eyes and the brittle smiles worn on their faces.
Radahn stopped in front of them and took a knee, intending on giving them some comfort by being closer to the floor. "Greetings, I am Radahn, I am here to converse with the mayor of this town." Radahn said plainly, yet not unkindly.
The man stepped forward. "Good evening Sir, I am the mayor of this town. Name's Dutch Oldwood." Dutch said in an upbeat tone, though it was slightly forced. He was shorter compared to the normal humans and appeared to be on the olderside, greying hair and winkels make that clear.
The lady next to him spoke. "And I am Mor Bolu, Commander of the town's guard. Haven't seen anything like you before." Mor's voice was filled with authority, yet it held suspicion and fear. She is similar in age to the major, yet her form still holds some of the muscle she once had. On the taller side of humans as well, standing a head and a half over mayor Dutch.
"Nor will you again, unless one of mine siblings comes to these lands." Radahn responded, "I digress, I meet with thee to learn more about these lands. Of the people, the beasts, and geography. I know nothing of the land I stand on." Radahn said, leaving the mention of his siblings hanging over their heads. He doesn't know what state the majority of them are in, only that most wouldn't be an ally to him.
"Of course, and this town has the information. But I was hoping for your assistance in return for it, if you wouldn't mind hearing us out." The mayor spoke with a great deal of nervousness, though still trying to keep a chirpy, upbeat tone from before.
Radahn frowned at what the mayor asked. He would be happy to assist this town, his concerns are regarding what type of assistance he needs. He was not a mercenary to be brought. "What do you ask?" He said simply after
The Commander spoke up at his question. "There has been an increase in grimm activity lately, a concurring increase. We think there's an Alpha with how the grimm have been acting. And this town doesn't have the money needed for a Huntsmen or a Huntress needed to take down a threat like that. We are hoping you'll be able to take care of the beasts as a trade for information." Mor said finally. There's clear desperation in her voice, fearing for the town's safety.
"If that is all thy ask of me, then I agree to assist you by ridding you of these grimm." Radahn said. He doesn't know if these 'grimm' are the black wolves he fought in the forest, but he was asked to fight beasts that threatened this town. Civilian lives in addition to the information he required made it clear that he needed to rid the town of these grimm. "Do you know the exact location of these beasts?"
Radahn saw their bodies relax when he agreed, eyes full of relief and muscles unstiffen. The commander spoke. "We know the general location. Lookouts over the wall have seen the grimm return to the forest east of the town, but we don't know exactly where they are hiding. We've only seen Beowolfs, unsure if there are other types of grimm."
Radahn considered the information. He was no hunter, tracking down the beasts may take awhile. The sun is about to set as well, and despite being able to see in the dark, he doesn't think it would help him hunting.
"I will hunt for the grimm come next morning. Might there be a place for someone of my stature to sleep in?" Radahn asked, hoping that they might actually have one for a person of his size.
Sadly, that was not the case.
Hello again people, this chapter was a tad rushed. I wanted it to be bigger, but I didn't have time on my side with this chapter.
Concerning upload schedule and the length of the chapters? I want to make future chapters longer, around 5k words each, but that will take around 3 weeks for one chapter. Telling you fellas now. Also, next chapter is gonna be a bit, got a camp for my spot that lasts a week.
Got some questions Ima answer now.
1. The body Radahn is in now is Starscourge Radahn, which is 7.62 meters or 25 feet tall.
2. Radahn gravity magic will be more like the lore then the game, also he will know some basic spell from other schools of magic.
3. The demi-god will not be enrolled at beacon.
Thank you for reading, tell me if I fucked up at all, and see ya.
