The Millenium Journey (A Yu-Gi-Oh! Remake Story)

Hey guys! Another fanfic in the works! And it is based on one of my favourite animes growing up. I've seen the dubbed anime since I was a little kid beside Pokemon, Sailor Moon, DragonBall Z, Digimon, and such.
So, I currently watching the subbed version of my favourite anime growing up and nearly in the middle of Season 3. I've read the entire manga series. And a few years back, I've had the pleasure of meeting both Dan Green and Eric Stuart whom are very nice people and was such an honour to meet them.
I also wanted to pay my respect to the creator of the franchise - Kazuki Takahashi – whom unfortunately passed away a couple of years ago and this was a shock to me.
Here is the summary:
"Yuna Mutou joins her cousin, Yugi, when he completes the Millennium Puzzle and becomes the host to an ancient spirit and because of this, the Shadow Games is unleashed onto the world." Based on the manga and anime of Yu-Gi-Oh! (Toei Anime) and Duel Monsters.
(Sorry if the summary/title was bland. It's hard to come up with ideas like this.)
My OC is Yuna Mutou, Yugi's cousin and she wields the Millennium Bracelet – a mysterious item that ties to Yugi's Millennium Puzzle as their grandpa found both the artifacts in the same box. He has given to them at a young age and they come together when the puzzle is completed. Yuna was born in Domino City, Tokyo, Japan but moved to America for her father's job when she is only five. She has managed to stay in touch with her cousin via mail, email, phone and text and still remained close to this day.
Personality-wise: Kind and caring but a bit stubborn and a little bossy (only because she cares for her family and friends). She is smart in almost every subject in school and very organised as she participates in all curriculum activities and clubs. She tends to be very overprotected of her cousin, especially when it comes to threats of troublemakers (like Jonouchi and Honda) and potential love interests (like Anzu) and she is a black belt in Karate since she was six years old. Like her cousin and grandfather, she loves to play games and picks up Duel Monsters very quickly.
Her dad, Yukihiro (means "Warrior" in Japanese and ironically, named after the director & storyboard artist, Yukihiro Shino) will also appear in the fanfic. Yuna's mother, Maki (means "true, precious/true, timber trees/true, hope" and named after Maki Saito – VA for Anzu Mazaki in the subbed version.) is also in the fanfic as mention and seen in flashbacks. More on her later as I don't want to give it all away.
Here is what to expect in this fanfic:
- I will be doing a combination of the manga, the anime (both sub and dub plus the movies). There will be changes with the episodes/chapters like Jonouchi's little sister and I don't know about the first movie as I want the Red Eyes and Shizuka to be in the Duel Monsters saga, rather than introduced early on in the story if that is alright with you guys.
- I will be using their original Japanese names and not their Western ones (makes much more sense since I've started watching the sub version of Duel Monsters.)
- I am planning to ship Yuna with Jonouchi as I am a sucker for slow burn (enemies-friends-lovers).
Guess that is it for now. I get the first chapter up and running. The question is how it should start? The manga version? Or the anime version? Your choice!
