Elena headed into the living room for a drink. Unfortunately, the living room was a bit occupied with Stefan and Rebekah, who were making out on the couch. This had been a normal occurrence since Stefan turned off his humanity. He and Rebekah were constantly at it, much to Elena's discomfort.

Elena contemplated walking away, but she quickly decided she wouldn't give them the satisfaction of sending her away. She wanted a drink, and she was going to get one, so she walked through the living room and pretended that Stefan and Rebekah weren't even there.

Stefan and Rebekah pulled apart moments later. Rebekah smirked at Elena. "Excuse me, but we were in the middle of something."

"Well, maybe you should take it someplace more private. Last I checked you both had bedrooms," Elena said as she poured herself a drink.

Rebekah sighed in annoyance. "Shouldn't you be contending with Nik's other pets. Are you so pathetic that you have to come hound your ex-boyfriend."

Elena laughed. "Pathetic? That's rich coming from you. You're hung up on a guy who doesn't give a damn about you. You had to wait for him to turn his humanity off to even give you the time of day, and that apparently is acceptable to you. Have a little self-respect, Rebekah."

Rebekah glared murderously at the hybrid and started to get up to go after her, but Stefan held her back.

"Don't let her get to you. She's just jealous," Stefan said.

Elena laughed again. "Get over yourself, Stefan. I dumped you if you'll recall, and to deal with that, you shut off your humanity."

Stefan smirked and stood up. He approached his former girlfriend. "Yeah, you dumped me because you didn't think I could accept you. You were right, I only liked you when you were human. That's the only reason I gave you the time of day. It was fun to screw with the weak little human."

Elena couldn't say that she wasn't affected. His words cut. She knew it wasn't all true, but some of it was. However, she would be damned if she let Stefan know how much his words hurt. "I'm sorry, are you still talking to me? I stopped listening moments after you opened your mouth."

Stefan went on as if she never spoke. "I never wanted you to be a vampire, and you're worse than a vampire. You're a freak of nature. A vampire and a werewolf. You'll be hated by both species. You'll never belong in the supernatural world."

Elena didn't even have a chance to respond to that. The next thing she knew, Stefan was flung into a wall and held there by Klaus's hand wrapped around his throat.

"What did I tell you would happen if you tried to make her feel bad about what she is again. I believe I said I'd rip out your tongue," Klaus said.

"Nik, let him go!" Rebekah demanded as she got up and approached them.

"Klaus, we had an agreement. I do what you want, and you don't hurt him. I've done everything you've asked," Elena said. Despite the monster Stefan had become, she still didn't want to see him hurt.

"He has to behave himself as well, love," Klaus said.

Stefan clawed at the hand holding him, but it was unmovable. "I was just screwing with her."

"You don't get to screw with her! Elena belongs to me, and I expect what belongs to me to be treated with care," Klaus said.

Elena was not sure whether she was supposed to be insulted or grateful for Klaus' words. He'd just claimed ownership of her yet again and defended her in the same breath. She really shouldn't be surprised by Klaus. It wasn't as though he was really defending her, she supposed. He was mad that his property was treated poorly. It was as if Stefan had taken a hammer to his television or something.

"Let me make this clear for you. You are useful to me, plus, I like having you around, but make no mistake about it. Elena is more valuable than ten of you. You, I can afford to part with, but not her. Remember that the next time you think of mistreating what is mine," Klaus said before releasing him and letting him slump to the floor. He then turned to Elena. "Come with me."

Elena finished her drink in one gulp before putting her glass down on the table and following Klaus from the room.

Klaus led the way upstairs and down the hall to his rooms. His rooms weren't like the others. He had a small suit. He opened the door and revealed a sitting room with two leather couches, a matching armchair, and a small bar on the other side. "Come in."

Elena hesitated before stepping inside. She didn't feel very comfortable being inside Klaus' rooms, even if the room she was currently in wasn't his bedroom, but she knew better than to tell Klaus no, even regarding something like this.

Klaus closed the door. "This room is soundproof, even from vampires. I had a witch set it up in preparation for my hybrids."

"I don't suppose you'd do the same thing for my room," Elena asked. She knew the answer would be no, but she did miss the privacy. She missed being able to have a conversation with someone without the whole house hearing it.

Klaus chuckled. "I think not, love. I don't trust you enough for that. Have a seat. Would you like a drink?"

"Of course," Elena said before sitting down in one of the chairs. She might have a bit of an alcohol problem, if that was even possible for vampires, but who cared. Her life sucked. The least she could do was make it bearable with alcohol.

Klaus poured them each a glass of Scotch and walked over to Elena. He handed her hers and then took a seat on one of the couches. "How are my hybrids progressing."

"They're coming along well," Elena told him before taking a sip of her drink.

"No problems with authority?" Klaus asked.

"Surprisingly, no. I was expecting some pushback, but they do everything I tell them," Elena said.

"I see," Klaus said. He wasn't thrilled with that, actually. He was starting to suspect that he was not the only one his hybrids were sired to. If they were sired to Elena, it could become problematic if she ever turned against him. Which was why he'd keep his suspicions from her for as long as possible.

"They're not as strong as me," Elena commented. Even Tyler wasn't as strong as her. She pushed all of them hard to see if any of them were on par with her. None of them were. The only one stronger than her was Klaus.

Klaus laughed. "No, I imagine they aren't. You're one of a kind, love. That's why you'll always remain with me. I knew you'd be different from the moment I realized what you were. You were turned different than the others. You know, you've been angry at the elder Salvatore for making you part vampire, but I don't think he did. I think this was always how it was going to end."

"I don't think it really matters how it happened anymore. It's not like it changes anything," Elena said.

Klaus smiled. "You've accepted it then, good. You now, Stefan wasn't wrong. Both vampires and werewolves will consider our kind to be abominations. You'll have to learn not to care what people think about you. Just remember that you're better than both. You are stronger, faster, and more durable. Neither can stop you. You're above them."

Elena found Klaus' words oddly comforting. It was the first he'd spoken to her like she wasn't just an extension of him or something that belonged to him. He seemed to want to make her feel better. She was sure it was for his benefit, but it was still nice. "Thanks. I don't care about what vampires or werewolves think of me in general."

"Ah, it's just Stefan then. It's as I said, you're worth ten times of what he's worth," Klaus said.

"I just want him gone," Elena said as she finished up her drink.

"Not quite yet, love. Soon, if you keep up the good work," Klaus told her.

"Then I want to forget about him," Elena said before getting up and heading for the bar. She poured herself another drink and took a big gulp of it.

"I can make that happen if you want. One little compulsion, and you'll forget all about him. Or you could turn your humanity off," Klaus suggested.

"I'm not Stefan. I'm not going to take the easy way out. Besides, that's not what I meant," Elena said before swallowing her drink in one more gulp. She then poured another. Honestly, even if she could be compelled, she wouldn't do it. Forgetting Stefan sounded good in theory, but she didn't want to forget the good that came with knowing him. "I just meant that I want to forget about him for one night. I want the pain to go away. I want to pretend he doesn't matter."

Klaus slowly smiled before placing his drink on the table standing up. He approached his favorite hybrid. "I can make that happen. In fact, when I'm through with you, Stefan Salvatore will be the last thing on your mind."

"And how will you manage that?" Elena asked before taking a sip of her drink.

Klaus took the glass from her hands and placed it on the table. He then gently brushed a stray strand of hair from Elena's face and placed it behind her ear before leaning closer to her. "I make you mine in every way imaginable."

"Klaus…" Elena said nervously. She was very much aware of what he was suggesting.

"It's the best way to forget your troubles, love," Klaus said before leaning forward and capturing her lips with his own. He waited to see if she'd pull away, but she didn't. She didn't exactly reciprocate either. He pulled away after a moment. "In this aspect and in this aspect only, you can say no, but you had better do it now."

Elena knew she should say no. She hated this man. This man had had made her life hell. He murdered her and her aunt. He'd made her a murderer time and time again. But what he offered appealed to her more than anything else right now. She would regret this in the morning, there was no doubt, but right now, she didn't care. "I'm not saying no."

Klaus smirked and crashed his lips into hers possessively. This time, she hid reciprocate. She kissed him back, and he felt her hand travel to his neck.

Elena kissed him and soon found herself lost in the man she hated most in the world. She'd already forgotten about Stefan when Klaus led her to his bedroom and threw her onto the bed.
