Elena approached Klaus' suite and hesitantly knocked on the door. She had decided to wait a few hours after her conversation with Rebekah to give Klaus a chance to cool off after his confrontation with Stefan. Reasoning with a pissed off Klaus probably wouldn't go over well. Hopefully, he had a chance to simmer down by now.
"Come in," Klaus' voice called out.
Elena walked in to find Klaus sitting on one of the leather couches with a drink in his hand.
Klaus smiled. "There's my favorite hybrid. Why don't you pour yourself a drink and come join me?"
Elena reluctantly shut the door before going over to the booze and pouring herself a drink. She took a sip and then started over to Klaus, who patted the spot directly next to him. She hesitantly sat beside him.
Klaus put his free arm around the back of the couch where Elena was sitting. He didn't touch her, yet. "You know, Stefan owes you his life. He ought to get down on his knees and thank you profusely. Although, from what I heard, he hasn't been the most grateful.
Elena turned to him in surprise. "You heard us? I thought these rooms were soundproof."
"They are for the most part," Klaus said before taking a sip of his drink. "The spells on this room keep anyone from hearing what happens within these walls, but they don't stop me from hearing what goes on outside of them. I'm surprised you didn't notice the last time you were in this room. Then again, we were otherwise engaged."
Elena chose to ignore that comment. "Then you know that Rebekah told me about Mikael."
"If I didn't want you to know, I would've stopped her. However, if you want to know something in the future, you will come to me," Klaus told her. It wasn't a request.
"Understood," Elena said.
"Good," Klaus said before moving his arm from the couch to Elena's shoulder. He pulled her closer and began kissing her neck. If she asked him to stop, he would, but he doubted she would. She'd already essentially admitted to Rebekah she planned to sleep with him again. If she said no now, she wouldn't for long.
Elena groaned, but she didn't exactly pull away. "Klaus, we need to talk."
"What's left to discuss, love. The Salvatores' idiotic plan failed before it even began," Klaus said as he continued to give her body his full attention.
Elena had to force herself to pull away from him, which wasn't easy. She hated Klaus, but she wasn't lying when she told Stefan that Klaus was good in bed. That's how she knew she'd end up here again. Still, she had to focus. "That doesn't solve the problem."
"My father has been a problem for a thousand years. Nothing has changed in that regard," Klaus said.
"Well, maybe it's time it did, unless you want to spend the rest of eternity running like a coward," Elena said. She was baiting him, which was dangerous, but she wanted to make him fight.
Klaus' eyes narrowed dangerously at her. "Careful, love. You may be my favorite hybrid, but never forget your place. You are my subordinate. You will show some respect."
Elena smirked. "That's what I'm talking about. That's the Klaus Mikaelson I've come to hate so much. You don't run. You don't cower. You fight and you win."
"Mikael is different," Klaus said before getting up and going over to the table on the other side of the room to pour himself another drink.
"He's different because he's in your head. You think you can't beat him because he's beaten you down so badly that he's convinced you that you can't, but you're both wrong. You said so yourself, we're stronger than vampires, stronger than werewolves, and now there's an army of us ready to take him out. Wasn't that the whole point of this army?"
"Tell me something, Elena. Would you be trying to get me killed?" Klaus asked distrustfully.
Elena scoffed in response and finished her drink before addressing his paranoia. "If that's what I wanted, I would've tried to convince you that Damon was telling the truth about Mikael. I'm not an idiot, Klaus. Mikael killing you isn't in my best interest. Even if he killed you, he'd still want me dead."
Klaus laughed. "That he would, love. In fact, he'd probably kill you before me just to punish me."
Elena nodded as she placed her empty glass on the coffee table. She stood up and walked towards him. "And that is why I will stick with the enemy I know, the enemy I know is invested in my survival. Unfortunately, Mikael is going to come for us no matter what we do, and eventually, he will find us."
"I know," Klaus said grudgingly.
"And we won't be ready for him when that happens. He'll have the element of surprise, unless we turn the tables," Elena said.
Klaus raised an eyebrow. "I'm listening. What are you suggesting, love."
"Damon and Mikael think everything is going according to their idiotic plan. They think Stefan will be able lure you back to Mystic Falls, to your death. I think we should let them think they're right. We go back and end this on our terms," Elena said. She hated the idea of bringing a war to Mystic Falls, where everyone she loved would be in danger, but the only alternative was waiting for Mikael to find them. They wouldn't have the element of surprise then.
"You want me to walk into a trap?" Klaus asked.
"No. I want us to spring our own. A trap inside a trap. They won't see it coming," Elena said with a smirk.
Klaus contemplated her words. She was right. Mikael wouldn't see it coming. His arrogance wouldn't allow him to. He would never accept that Klaus could outsmart him. He always believed him to be weak. Klaus could use that to his advantage and take him out once and for all. "End it on our terms. And you would willingly fight by my side?"
"I would. I have made no secret of my disdain for you, but I at least know where I stand with you," Elena said.
Klaus smirked. "Now, love, you don't always have disdain for me. It wasn't too long ago that you showed me something else."
Elena rolled her eyes. "What do you say? Are we doing this?"
Klaus grinned. "I knew from the moment I realized that you were a hybrid that you'd be fantastic. I look forward to seeing that in action. I'll have Stefan contract his brother tomorrow. Of course, I'll have to dictate what he's to say word for word to ensure he doesn't try to warn him."
"Speaking of Stefan, when Mikael is dead, I want you to let Stefan go," Elena said. This might be a touch sell after what Stefan did, but she was determined to try.
Klaus raised an eyebrow. "You expect me to reward Stefan for his betrayal?"
"No. I want you to reward me. Your agreement was with me, not Stefan. I didn't betray you. I have done everything you've asked, and I will continue to do so. When Mikael is dead, I will have proven my loyalty to you. I want Stefan gone. I don't even want to look at him anymore,"
"Well, if you want him gone so badly, I can make that happen permanently," Klaus said with a smirk.
"Klaus," Elena said in an unamused tone.
"Very well. You've proven yourself. Once Mikael is dead, Stefan will be sent on his way. However, once that happens, he will no longer be under your protection. If he does anything else to betray me, his life is forfeit," Klaus warned.
"Understood. One more thing," Elena started.
Klaus laughed. "You're pushing it, love."
"I'm willing to take the risk on this issue. I want my loved ones kept out of this. I don't want them hurt," Elena said.
"Well, that depends on their involvement. For instance, this idiocy might just cost Damon Salvatore his life," Klaus said.
"Damon made his own bed. I have no interest in protecting him. I'm talking about my brother, my friends," Elena said.
"Like I said, it depends on their involvement, however, if they're not involved, I will not harm them, but I can't control collateral damage," Klaus said.
"I understand. Thank you," Elena said.
"You're welcome, love. Now, where were we?" Klaus asked before pulling the young hybrid to him. He had her back pressed against his chest and resumed his attention on her neck.
"Klaus," Elena started.
"Come on, love, stop fighting it. After all, I am the best lover you ever had," Klaus said in an amused and smug tone.
"Of course you heard that. To be fair, I've only been with three," Elena said.
Klaus laughed. "Well then, I guess I'll just have to show you that it doesn't get any better than me."
Elena felt Klaus's hand run down to her backside as he continued to kiss her neck. She shivered, her resolve faltering more every second. "What the hell? I've already sold my soul to you," she said before shifting his arms so that they were face to face and then kissing him.
Klaus chuckled before picking her up and carrying her towards the bedroom.
