The premiere episode of Total Drama's second season opened with a shot of Wawanakwa, where the first and previous season of the show took place. Chris McLean then began narrating over this footage. "Last season, on Total Drama Island...Owen and Gwen engaged in a final showdown to win a grand check of a hundred grand! Owen won big time, and as a result of that, he won big bucks! That was, until he chose to give it up to win an even bigger buck of a million dollars! All 22 campers then went mad to claim the million dollars for themselves, but in the end, none of them got to take home the money because a shark gobbled it all up!" The raven haired host explained as the events he described panned by on-screen before it changed to him standing outside of a run down film lot.
"To avoid getting lawsuits up the ample posterior, I had agreed with the 22 campers from last season to meet me here at this abandoned film lot in Toronto, Ontario, where they'll be competing a second time for the million dollar prize they didn't get to keep last time around. Little do they know is that to keep things fresh, I've also invited 6 new competitors to compete in their own shot for the money, making a grand total of 28 competitors for this season! Who will prove themselves worthy of being the second season Total Drama winner? What alliances will form? What loves will potentially get lost? What chaos could erupt? And will any contestants get medically evacuated? To get the answers to all those questions and more, let me welcome you to: Total...Drama...Action!" Chris finished his monologue whilst raising his gradually with each word of the new season he spoke, the camera also gradually zooming out until the entire film lot was shown.
The season's introductory movie then began to play, with two spotlights popping up, and two cameras emerging from a sewer hole with a rat on top of it, and a tree, which caused a raccoon to fall out of it. A director's clipboard was then used as the camera zoomed across the film lot, with Chris McLean driving by in a trolley cart.
Dear mom and dad, I'm doing fine
The camera went past a series of screens and a clothing rack before heading up a fake hill and into a pool below, where Owen was shown swimming underwater together with Maz. Owen proceeded to fart underwater and into the face of Maz and a nearby shark, causing both of them to start coughing up a storm.
You guys are on my mind
The camera then rose to the surface of the water where Harold was seen standing on a surfboard, dodging seagulls being shot at him by Duncan. The former managed to dodge every single seagull before the latter eventually proceeded to launch Ezekiel at him, causing both of them to crash into the water below.
You asked me what I wanted to be,
The camera then panned to Duncan laughing at Harold and Ezekiel's misfortune with a glaring Courtney standing next to him. The two of them then proceeded to kiss before looking at each other in an affectionate manner.
And I think the answer is plain to see...
Sasquatchnakwa then peeked from behind a wardrobe wearing women's clothing, with Cody and Noah in the same predicament as him, and the three of them hurriedly rushed past a set of stage doors before the camera proceeded to go through it.
I wanna be famous!
We then see Edsel and Eva dueling against one another in a space film set, with the former using Katie as a human lightsaber and the latter using Sadie as a human lightsaber, much to the displeasure of the two girls who cried out in pain as Edsel and Eva struck them against one another.
I wanna live close to the sun
The footage then faded to a beach film set, where Beth and Ursula were lounging in a couple of beach chairs together with a pair of sharks. The two girls flashed a smile towards the camera as it zoomed in on them.
Go pack your bags, 'cause I've already won
Meanwhile, Justin and Roscoe were sitting inside the makeup trailer being dolled up with makeup brushes before turning their heads and promptly being sprayed in the face with a pair of spray bottles, causing both boys to clench their faces in pain and frustration.
Everything to prove, nothing in my way
Elsewhere in the film lot, Heather and Leshawna were shown standing on top of two pillars butting away at one another using batons before Leshawna managed to knock off Heather's wig, much to the latter's shock while the former smirked triumphantly.
I'll get there one day
Heather's wig proceeded to land inside a cooking pot filled with a strange green liquid, and Chef Hatchet picked up the pot, noticing the wig inside before shrugging it off and passing the pot to DJ, who proceeded to apply some spices to the liquid before proceeding to taste it and humming in delight.
'Cause I wanna be famous!
The footage then zoomed out to unveil Tyler, Lindsay and Quora sitting in front of a control panel with surveillance cameras scanning the film lot. Lindsay then proceeded to grimace as she pressed a button on the control panel that caused part of the film lot to explode, and Tyler and Quora yelped in shock as they watched this occur.
Na na na na na na, na na na na na, na na na na na!
Panning over to the part of the film lot that was just blown up, Izzy was shown prancing around happily with a bear covered in soot standing next to her, glaring at her and roaring at her, with Izzy quickly retaliating with animalistic behavior of her own, causing the bear to retreat with Izzy chasing after it.
I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous!
The bear proceeded to run past a limousine with Izzy still in pursuit, finding herself joined by Fergus, who also wanted to teach the bear a lesson for scaring the contestants. The window of the limousine then rolled down to reveal Gwen and Trent sitting inside, who proceeded to open the door to the limousine, showing flashing cameras, notepads, microphones and the like.
I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous!
Chris was then shown standing on a stage in front of a podium, dressed in a blue tuxedo with a reddish pink bowtie before flipping open an envelope in his hands, after which Chef appeared next to him with a tray of Gilded Chris Awards in his hands, being dressed in a hot pink dress with a matching chef hat, gloves and pumps, as well as a diamond necklace and earrings, angrily glaring at Chris, with the raven haired host looking away innocently.
[Whistling] I wanna be, I wanna be famous!
The footage then zoomed out towards the Aftermath studio, where Geoff and Bridgette were about to kiss before noticing the camera focusing on them, causing the two of them to quickly pull away in shock and blush before the camera zoomed out to show all the contestants seated in the Aftermath studio, whistling the final line of the theme song.
Afterwards, the camera faded to the entrance to the film lot as a bus proceeded to pull up and come to a stop, the exhaust pipe falling off when it did so. The door then opened, and Duncan proceeded to step out of it, stretching and exhaling in relief.
"Man, does it feel good to be back in mainland Ontario. I really missed the smell of the city after all that time in the wilderness." The delinquent stated as he stepped forward to allow the next person to get off the bus, said person being Izzy.
"Tell me about it! I really loved Wawanakwa and its surrounding islands, but the city of Toronto is just as good of a backdrop for my second string of shenanigans on reality TV!" Izzy replied to Duncan with a crazed chuckle, causing the delinquent to raise an eyebrow at her.
"I'm surprised that the RCMP hasn't caught up with you yet after you first got voted out last season." The delinquent admitted to the ginger-haired girl.
"What can I say? I'm slippery like linguine, and I got the strength of a bull moose and the speed of a pronghorn! No way they'll catch me as long as there's air flowing through my lungs and blood pumping through my veins!" Izzy told him with a prideful smile while placing her hands on her hips in triumph.
Getting off the bus in time to overhear Izzy making this statement, Ezekiel blinked in confusion at her words. "No offense, but you're a really weird case if you can outrun the constables while being on their Most Wanted List for so long." The Canadian redneck teen admitted to the psychotic one.
"Bold words coming from you, getting voted off first last season for spouting sexist nonsense." Bridgette told Ezekiel with a scowl as she was the next to get off the bus.
"Eh, what can I say? I was a boob back then. But I've learned from my mistakes that I made the first time around, and now I'm a new and improved Ezekiel, ready to go from worst place to first place!" Ezekiel assured her with a reassuring smile.
"He's right, babe! Everyone makes mistakes their first time doing something, and mistakes are what makes us human, you know?! I'm sure that he'll keep to his word and not say anything mean about you and the other girls on this season!" Geoff chimed his agreement with Ezekiel's words as he got off the bus and stood next to Bridgette, putting an arm around her shoulder, which caused the blond girl to calm down as she turned to look at Geoff with a smile on her face.
"I guess you're right, Geoff. Everyone deserves a second chance, Ezekiel included. Thanks for reminding me of that." Bridgette happily told Geoff before kissing his cheek, causing the party-loving teen to blush and grin, flashing a thumbs up at his girlfriend.
Eva got off the bus next and rolled her eyes as she saw Bridgette kiss Geoff on the cheek. "Geez, get a room, you guys." She dryly told the couple before walking past them, getting awkward glances from Geoff and Bridgette as she did so.
"Well, that just happened." Geoff then broke the silence in an awkward manner.
"Give her a break, you guys. Last season, she got voted off second because of Heather's scheming, so she's got a good reason to be snarky with us." Tyler then piped up as he was the next competitor to leave the bus.
"You got that right, chicken wings. Good thing you got what you deserved during that Phobia Factor episode when you got voted off for being afraid of the flightless landfowl that you are." Eva responded to Tyler from where she was standing, folding her arms in front of her chest as she did so.
"Come on, guys! Don't start bickering just yet! We haven't even settled into our new sleeping quarters, and we're already squabbling? That's no fun!" Beth stated as she got off the bus afterward.
"Beth's right, you guys. The actual contest hasn't even begun yet, so why should the dramatics?" Tyler agreed with Beth, trying to add to her effort to defuse the situation.
"Uh, hello. The show is called "Total Drama" for a reason. You knew what you were signing up for when you saw the name of the show." Heather responded as she was the next contestant to get off the bus, glaring at the other contestants as she was wearing a wig replica of her hairstyle in Total Drama Island, due to the actual hairstyle being shaved off during the semi-finals of the last season.
"I don't think you have any say in the matter when you were responsible for more than half of the eliminations last season, Heather." Beth firmly told the Asian teen with a scowl on her face as she walked up to her.
"Likewise, I don't think you have any say in that matter because you made the foolish mistake of cursing our team last season after you took that cursed tiki idol from Boney Island, farm girl." Heather retorted to Beth with a scowl of her own.
"Don't start about that again, Heather! I wasn't present when Chris was explaining about that, so how was I supposed to know?!" Beth fired back at her, now looking much more angrier.
"Girls, girls. You're both beautiful. No need to sell it to the viewers back home." Noah sarcastically told Beth and Heather as he got off the bus, both to defuse their argument and dish out some of his trademark condescension.
"You're one to talk, Captain Smart Mouth. You got booted off third last season because you didn't do jack for your team." Duncan smirked at the Indian teen while folding his arms in front of his chest.
"Gee, wiz. If memory serves me, if you hadn't woken up during that episode's challenge to do anything for your team, you're the one who would've gone home instead if your team had lost that challenge." Noah taunted the delinquent with a smirk of his own, causing Duncan to glare and grit his teeth at him.
"Well, that, and because his ego got the better of him during the real final four challenge last season, causing him to get voted out right before the semi-finals." Leshawna pointed out as she got off the bus, standing next to Noah as a result.
"I'm still seething over that..." Duncan growled under his breath in disdain, getting a giggle from most of the contestants in response.
A yelp could then be heard coming from the bus as Harold proceeded to trip and fall flat on his face while trying to get off the bus, landing right next to Leshawna in the process. "Ugh...Sorry for almost hitting you, Leshawna..." Harold groaned as he glanced up at the sassy black teen.
"All good and forgiven, Big Hay." Leshawna smiled as she reached down, grabbed Harold by his collar and pulled him to his feet without looking. Harold then smiled and sighed happily as he looked at Leshawna, getting a giggle from some contestants while getting an eye roll from others in the process.
Gwen was the next contestant to get off the bus, and she looked up at the film lot as she did so. "A film lot, huh? I gotta say, it doesn't look too bad compared to Camp Wawanakwa." She said with a slight smile.
"Tell me about it. I could get used to being holed up in here for the next 8 weeks or so." Trent chimed in as he got off the bus next to Gwen, smiling as he looked at the film lot once he did. Gwen reared her head towards Trent and smiled at him, with Trent smiling back at her in return.
Katie and Sadie were the next pair of contestants to depart from the bus, and both girls let out a high pitched squeal as they saw the film lot. "Ohmigosh, Sadie! Can you believe that we're actually staying at a film lot for the next 8 weeks?!" Katie asked her best friend in a little bit too excited tone of voice.
"I know, right?! Camp Wawanakwa was something, but this film lot really is a next level experience! And I look forward to seeing it through with you by my side from start to finish, Katie!" Sadie responded in an equally overly excited tone of voice.
"Unless you girls manage to rally up enough allies to last until the final three, I think your chances of making it through this season from beginning to end are up a rat's delicate posterior." Noah bluntly told Katie and Sadie, who immediately lost their smiles and excitement as their faces drooped from the Indian teen's straightforwardness.
"Don't say that, Noah! Sadie and I won't ever be separated from each other again like we did last season! We won't let it happen!" Katie assured Noah as she hugged Sadie, who proceeded to hug Katie back in response.
"Katie is right! We'll manage to stay together throughout the whole game from start to finish with all the wit I have and all the skill Katie has!" Sadie informed Noah, who rolled his eyes in annoyance at how dramatic the best friends were being.
"Aw, c'mon, Noah! Give the girls a break, will ya? Just let 'em enjoy each other's company during the game while it lasts, and when they inevitably get separated from each other down the line, be sure to give them the emotional support they need to get over being away from each other for a while and then encourage them to fight through the remainder of the game!" DJ gave his ten cents on the matter as he was the next in line to get off the bus, with Katie and Sadie looking at one another with a worried expression from the muscular Jamaican teen's words.
Lindsay got off the bus shortly after DJ did, and she looked at the film lot in awe. "Wow...I can't believe we're at a real film lot for this new season...Do you think Chad the host knows if any actual movies were filmed out here?" She asked the other contestants, with some of them looking annoyed at the dumb teen's appearance while others looked confused or unsure at her question.
"Knowing Chris, I doubt he'd give us much insight on that type of stuff." Bridgette responded to Lindsay, with Geoff nodding his agreement.
"Yeah, the guy isn't really generous when it comes to the details on the filming locations for the season. I mean, apart from the basic necessities knowledge-wise, he never gave us much of the juice on Camp Wawanakwa either." Geoff added onto his girlfriend's statement.
Lindsay pondered Geoff and Bridgette's words before smiling and nodding. "Yeah, I guess you're right. Thanks a lot, Chef. Thanks a lot, Pigeon." She thanked the couple for their input.
"Uh, it's Geoff and Bridgette, Lindsay." Bridgette kindly pointed out as Geoff put his arm around her again.
"I'm sure she'll get our names right in due time, babe. Don't worry about it too much. Instead, be happy." Geoff assured the surfer with a reassuring smile.
Bridgette looked back at her boyfriend and returned the smile. "I'm sure she will." She agreed with Geoff's reasoning.
In the meantime, Owen proceeded to get off the bus, being as excited as ever to kick off the second season of Total Drama after winning the last one. "Woo! Are you guys ready for Season 2 of Total Drama?! 'Cause I am! Woo!" The overweight teen yelled excitedly, raising his arms triumphantly as he did so.
"Right on, Owen! We're gonna be having a ball this season!" Izzy cheered as she walked up to Owen and slapped him a high five, both of them grinning as they did so.
"I'm still amazed how that guy made it all the way to the final two last time and even won the whole thing." Eva said in a dry tone of voice as she folded her arms in front of her chest and glanced at Owen in an uninterested manner.
"Tell me about it, girl. Boy has a big heart, and I think that, combined with his dumb luck got him all the way to the end last season." Leshawna agreed with Eva as she glanced at Owen with a puzzled look.
"Out of my way, out of my way. Future attorney coming through." Courtney excused herself as she barged her way off the bus and through the crowd of contestants that were already standing outside the film lot.
"Hey there, Courtney! Glad to see you back here for another season!" Beth kindly greeted Courtney while waving towards her.
"Yes, I'm glad to be back for another season myself, Beth. And this time, I hope to be competing from start to finish, and if I do end up being eliminated, I hope to be eliminated fair and square rather than being eliminated in an unlawful manner like a certain dork-to-dork salesman did to me last season." Courtney responded to Beth in a kind manner before shifting her focus to Harold, her tone becoming more hostile as she did so.
"Gosh, Courtney. I already apologized for it, and I still feel remorseful for doing that last season, so why don't you give it a rest, will ya?" Harold put up his hands in a defensive manner as Courtney got up close to him while fiercely glaring at him.
"Just know that I've got my eye on you at all times during this second season." Courtney warned Harold as she made an "I'm watching you" gesture with her index and middle fingers towards the red haired dweeb before backing off.
Justin was the penultimate contestant to get off the bus, and most of the contestants lit up with glee as he did so. "A film lot is the backdrop for this next season of Total Drama, is it? Heh. I could get used to this, seeing as a model such as myself feels like a fish in the water in a movie-themed environment." The hunky tan teenager said in a delightful manner whilst flashing a charismatic smile as he did so, causing most female contestants as well as a couple of male ones, mainly Owen to fan their faces as they had turned a shade of red from being head over heels of Justin's presence.
"I still can't believe we have the privilege of competing with someone like him again this season..." Katie gushed with a bright red face.
"Me neither...I could never get tired of staring at him..." Sadie gushed more with an equally bright red face.
The final contestant of last season's cast to get off the bus was Cody, and as he looked around him, he saw Gwen and Trent staring at each other in a loving manner, causing him to sigh somberly and just quietly walked up to the gates of the film lot without saying a thing to the other contestants. Suddenly, Ezekiel caught notice of him and decided to strike up a chat with him.
"Yo, you're Cody, ain't you?" Ezekiel then asked Cody, hoping he had the right name in mind.
Hearing Ezekiel speak to him, Cody quickly dropped his dejected mood and put up his cool guy act as he turned to face the homeschooled teen. "You bet, Chet. Name's Cody, but I'll also settle for Codemeister." He told Ezekiel with a stylish smirk as he shot him a pair of finger guns.
"Cool, yo. Listen, I'm trying to get better at talking with my fellow contestants so that I'll hopefully stay on the show longer this time, so I was hoping you'd be able to pass along some advice?" Ezekiel asked Cody with a hopeful smile.
"No sweat, man. Just take a look at me, and first place is where you're gonna be." Cody grinned as he proceeded to walk up to DJ. "Heyo, DJ. What's going on, man?" He asked the tall and built black teen with a put on swagger voice.
"Uh, hey there, Cody. I'm uh, just waiting for things to kick into gear for this season, is all. What about you?" DJ asked Cody in return, being a bit confused by the shorter brunette boy's act.
"Pretty much the same on my end, thank you. I'm just hoping that the Chrismeister will be going easy on us this season compared to the last one, know what I mean?" Cody asked as he folded his arms in front of his chest in a confident and stylish manner, his smile appearing just as confident and stylish.
DJ nodded in agreement with Cody's statement about Chris going easy on the contestants. "Yeah, I hope so too. Last season, he was a little bit too rough on all of us at times, so I'm also hoping things will be tamer this time around." He replied to Cody with a worried look on his face.
"Glad we're on the same line right there, bro. Well, I gotta go, but I do hope that after Chris' introductory instructions have gotten out of the way, we'll be able to take it slow, you know?" Cody asked DJ in his put on swagger voice, which just confused DJ even more than he already was.
"Uhhh, yeah, I guess." DJ smiled and nodded reluctantly, hoping that Cody wouldn't catch on to the fact that the brunette teen was really making him uncomfortable.
"Sweet. See ya later, alligator." Cody finished as he held up his hand to slap a high five.
"In a while, crocodile." DJ reluctantly smiled and slapped a high five with Cody, after which Cody walked off again, heading back to Ezekiel.
"Ya see that, dude? That's the way you gotta get that social food." Cody told Ezekiel as he triumphantly placed his hands on his hips like a big cheese, with Ezekiel looking reluctant after he could notice how confused and uncomfortable DJ was during his conversation with Cody.
"Yeah, I did see that. I'll be sure to uhhh, get the social food with the other competitors that way, yo." Ezekiel nodded, both because of his own social awkwardness and Cody's own social awkwardness caused by his pretensions of being cool.
Before long, Chris proceeded to drive out of the gates of the film lot in a trolley that held 28 seats, which caused a good number of contestants to raise their eyebrows in curiosity. "Ah, I see you guys all arrived at the film lot safe and sound! That means that the bus driver wasn't as incompetent as the network made him out to be!" Chris said with his trademark smile and a delighted tone of voice.
"Hey, I'm not trying to be obvious here, but there's 22 of us, and your trolley's got 28 seats. What's up with that?" Duncan asked the raven haired host in an inquisitive tone, a puzzled look decorating his face as he pointed at the number of seats in the trolley.
"Yeah, Slick McLame. Enlighten us about those 6 additional seats you've got on that jonnybee of yours." Eva chimed in as she placed her hands on her hips in an inquisitive manner, though her tone remained as dry as ever.
"Glad you guys asked! You see, you guys aren't just coming back for a second chance at bagging the million dollar prize, you're also going up against 6 brand new contestants to keep things fresh for both yourselves and the viewers back home!" Chris announced as he raised his arms into the air proudly, with the 22 contestants looking surprised and gasping in shock upon hearing that.
"Speaking of those 6 brand new contestants, here they come!" Chris continued as a white and gold-colored limousine proceeded to pull up to the film lot before parking itself next to the bus. The door of the limousine then opened as the first new contestant proceeded to step out of it.
This first new contestant was a Caucasian girl with dirty blond hair in a wavy style that turned into curls at the end along with cobalt blue eyes. She had a toned swimmers build and a C-cup breast size. Her outfit consisted of a bright red t-shirt with an unzipped bright red hoodie worn over it, completing the look with a pair of midnight blue jeans and bright red leather ankle boots.
"Everyone, meet your first new competitor throwing their own bid for the million dollars this season; Maz!" Chris introduced the blond girl. "She's a mermaid, so she's a bit of a fish out of water here in the city of Toronto!" The raven haired host added onto his introduction.
"Whoa, dude! You're a mermaid?!" Geoff asked Maz in shock, unable to believe being in the presence of a mythical being.
"Yeah, do you like, turn into one when you're exposed to water like Daryl Hannah in the 1984 Splash film?" Bridgette chimed in with an intrigued smile, her surfer instincts kicking in at the mention of mermaids.
Maz laughed at the questions her soon-to-be competitors were bombarding her with. "No, though I do wish that were the case. I actually dress up as a mermaid and perform as one for shows at aquarium parks across Canada." She explained to Geoff and Bridgette, having a distinct British accent when she spoke.
"Oh, that's so cool! I've tried doing that when I was little, but I was never really able to get the hang of it!" Bridgette beamed, happy to find another competitor with interests similar to her own.
"Word up! Do you wear one of those seashell bras that Disney mermaids wear when you dress up as a mermaid for your shows?" Geoff then asked Maz, growing more interested in her performing background.
"As a matter of fact, I do. I did happen to have brought my mermaid costume with me to use as swimwear in case any water-based challenges take place during this season, so perhaps I could show you and your girlfriend what it looks like during the downtime in between challenges." Maz smiled and nodded.
"I'm already looking forward to it!" Bridgette happily replied.
"Yeah, it's gonna be totally awesome, ladydude!" Geoff chimed in with equal excitement. Maz laughed at being given such a warm welcome by her fellow competitors.
Duncan just rolled his eyes in annoyance. "The surfers always get along with the other aquatic sporters." He quipped, with Courtney, who was standing next to him, nodded her agreement.
"They certainly do. It's only natural, too." Courtney replied, having her hands on her hips while observing the situation with a calm poker face.
Maz then proceeded to slap a couple of high fives with Bridgette and Geoff before walking over to stand next to the surfer couple as the next new contestant made their entrance by stepping out the limousine.
This one was a male, with a dark chocolate brown skin tone and purple eyes, which intrigued the other contestants. His hair was olive brown in color and styled in a crew cut. He had a slightly muscular build, but wasn't a beefcake by any means. His clothing of choice included a baby blue polo shirt paired with sand yellow knee length capri pants, black socks that had a white anchor logo imprinted on them and royal blue suede sneakers.
"Now for our next newcomer of the bunch, here we have Edsel! He's a rather passionate thespian, which works favorably in both competing on a movie-themed season and having a penchant for dramatics to boot!" Chris introduced the dark skinned boy to the returning contestants, who proceeded to walk up to them.
"Hello, everyone. Like Chris McLean over there said, my name's Edsel, and I hope that we'll be having a wonderful time together on this next season of Total Drama that's to come for the next two months or so." The thespian kindly greeted his castmates with a warm smile.
"Nice to meet you, man! I'm Owen!" Owen enthusiastically greeted Edsel while shaking the latter's hand with equal enthusiasm.
"The feeling's mutual, my bulky yet attractive friend." Edsel told Owen with a kind voice and warm smile, causing Owen to blush in awe at the compliments he was getting from the dark skinned teen.
Izzy then proceeded to pop out from behind Owen's right shoulder, startling the overweight teen in the process. The orange haired girl then laughed in amusement at the interaction between Edsel and Owen. "Not trying to be obvious here, but I think someone's got a crush!" She teased Owen, causing the latter to blush even more.
"Izzy!" The chubby boy exclaimed in an embarrassed tone of voice, which got a laugh out of most of the contestants, Edsel included.
"Don't worry about it, Owen. I like both genders, and I am willing to give you the time of day once we've gotten to know one another better, alright?" Edsel assured Owen, who proceeded to nervously chuckle in response while still blushing.
Chris also chuckled at the scene he was witnessing. "Looks like the board was right about Owen being the perfect competitor to match the show's progressiveness quota." He mused to himself under his breath before moving on and speaking out loud again. "Anyway, we've got a season to get on the road, so let's try and move things along for the next contestant, shall we?" The raven haired host then suggested as Edsel nodded and joined his fellow contestants while the next newly competing teenager departed from the limousine.
Said teenager was another girl, being roughly the height of Beth. She had a pale Caucasian skin tone along with dyed lavender purple hair styled in three ponytails and possessed pale green eyes. She had freckles running over her face, mainly her cheeks and nose, but was otherwise aesthetically presentable. For clothing, she wore a silver colored sweatshirt along with dark brown trousers and matching dark brown loafers.
"Our next contestant who will be newly and freshly joining this season is Ursula, who doesn't go out much and has been homeschooled by her aunt and uncle, who took her in and raised her after the death of her parents." Chris explained to the returning contestants as Ursula meekly walked up to the other contestants.
"Hey, you guys. Like Chris said, my name is Ursula, and I'm gonna be joining you all for this next season of Total Drama...I really hope we'll be able to get along with one another..." Ursula meekly greeted her fellow competitors, just nervously tapping her fingers against one another.
Ezekiel was the first to approach and return Ursula's greetings. "Nice to meet you, Ursula. I'm Ezekiel." The pale boy smiled as he shook Ursula's hand, to which the purple-haired girl smiled back at him and returned the handshake.
"Hi, Ezekiel. It's nice to meet you too." She kindly greeted the other homeschooler back, beginning to feel more at ease now that her attempts at initiating social interactions were starting to work.
"I'm calling it now, those two are gonna be one of the first new romantic hook-ups on this season." Beth whispered to Lindsay excitedly.
"Who?" Lindsay asked her friend, completely oblivious to what she was talking about.
"Ursula and Ezekiel." Beth explained, pointing at the two of them who were still shaking each others' hands.
"Ohhh, yeah. I do see the two of them being a cute couple together." Lindsay said a little too loud, getting the attention of Ursula and Ezekiel, who proceeded to stop shaking their hands and blush in response to Linday's statement, which made Beth feel embarrassed as her scatterbrained friend unintentionally brought the homeschoolers' attention to her.
Chris chuckled at the situation that was developing. "As entertaining as this is starting to get, I think we should get ready to introduce the next new contestant of the bunch. Everyone, give a warm welcome to the fourth of our six new cast members, Roscoe!" The raven haired host announced as the next contestant, Roscoe left the limousine at the host's cue.
Roscoe was a tall Caucasian male about the same height as DJ and Justin, having slicked back blond hair and striking light blue eyes along with a toned build and an outfit consisting of a light blue tank top and matching light blue jean shorts, completing the look with a pair of black socks with a yellow lightning bolt imprinted on them and a pair of dark gray sneakers with a white flame pattern imprinted on them.
Most of the contestants looked impressed by Roscoe's looks, though Justin obviously didn't like another handsome womanizing guy joining the season to give him competition. "Look at that, Justin! Another smoking hot dude to give you a run for your money this season!" Tyler chuckled as he jokingly elbowed the model.
"Yeah, fantastic..." Justin said in a sarcastic tone of voice, with Tyler continuing to grin at Justin, being completely oblivious to the model's sarcasm and/or annoyance.
"I gotta agree with Jock Itch over here, Pretty Boy. That blond dude is miles more good looking than you are." Eva chimed in, smirking at Justin in an attempt to pester him.
"Greetings, second-timers and fellow first-timers. I'm looking forward to a good game on this second season of Total Drama, and I do hope that all you share that excitement with me." Roscoe kindly greeted his fellow competitors.
"Oh, I share that excitement with you, alright." Eva smirked some more as she fist bumped Roscoe, which the blond boy proceeded to return with a grin on his face, making Justin even more annoyed than he already was.
"I'm liking this guy already. Assuming that boys and girls are all getting their own sleeping arrangements like last season, I'm calling top bunk on the bed he'll be taking." Duncan smugly grinned as he folded his arms in front of his chest.
"Don't get too cocky, Duncan. Need I remind you again that getting cocky ended up being your downfall last season?" Courtney pointed out to her boyfriend as she turned to face him.
"No worries, Courtney. I'll be more careful with that stuff on this next season, honest." Duncan assured his girlfriend, dropping the smug grin and letting his usual edgy frown take its place.
"You better do." Courtney responded in a short tone of voice as she turned away from Duncan again, folding her arms in front of her chest whilst she did so.
Heather smirked as she eyed Roscoe. "I'm sure that falling in good graces with pretty boy over here could prove to be beneficial to my strategic options on this season." The Asian girl mused to herself, but happened to be overheard by Gwen and Trent.
"After the crap you pulled on me and Trent last season? Not a chance that Roscoe over there is gonna become a pawn in your next string of schemes on our watch." Gwen told Heather with an angry glare.
"Exactly. If you're the Wicked Witch of the West, then the two of us are the water that'll end up melting you out of this next season." Trent chimed in with an equally angry glare.
Heather glared back at Gwen and Trent. "Drop dead, Romeo and Juliet. I'm not interested in talking to you for the time being." She barked back at the goth girl and musician boy.
"Alright, now that our fourth newcomer has made himself known, it's time for our penultimate fresh meat to do the same thing! Meet Quora!" Chris then moved on to the next contestant as they stepped out of the limousine.
Quora was a yellowish-brown tanned girl with black hair styled in a shaggy pixie cut that had a couple of prominent white streaks running through it along with mismatched eyes of dark blue and brown as a result of heterochromia. Her outfit consisted of a dark green and yellow crop top that showed off her midriff along with a pair of green camo pants with a black belt holding it up, completing the look with a pair of bright red soccer socks and purple hi-tops.
"Hey, guys, my name is Quora, and I'm really looking forward to-" Quora began to happily greet her fellow castmates, but as she approached them, she proceeded to trip over a stray pebble laying on the road and as she went tumbling to the ground, she tried to save herself by grabbing onto Courtney's pants, but unintentionally ended up pulling down the Type-A's pants along with her as she fell.
"Ah! My pants!" Courtney exclaimed angrily while Duncan proceeded to break out laughing, with a couple of contestants as well as Chris joining in on the laughter. "This isn't funny, you guys!" Courtney hissed at those laughing at her while she pulled her pants back up to her waste before pulling Quora back up to her feet by grabbing her by the hair.
"Ow! Sorry, I didn't mean to pants you! I just tried to break my fall by grabbing your legs, but that apparently went horribly wrong..." Quora apologized to Courtney in a panicky tone of voice.
"Save the excuses for later, Quora. I'm not in the mood to be around you right now." Courtney scoffed at the clumsy girl before proceeding to walk away, grabbing Duncan by the ear and pulling him along with her.
"Ow! Ow! Ow! I'm sorry, Courtney! I didn't mean to laugh at you!" Duncan exclaimed in pain as his girlfriend was dragging him by the ear. The laughter from Chris and the other contestants then proceeded to die as the raven haired host cleared his throat and recomposed himself.
"Alright, alright. That was great. And now, for our final newcoming competitor of the season, please put your hands together for Fergus!" Chris announced as Fergus, the final newcomer of the season departed from the limousine.
Fergus was a male who appeared to be of Native Canadian descent, given his golden brown skin color combined with his chestnut brown eye color. His spiky hair was a dark brown tone, and his outfit consisted of a simple black t-shirt with a pair of worn out blue jeans, dark green and white sneakers with white laces and a sleeveless light gray bodywarmer worn over the t-shirt.
"Heya, guys. It's nice to meet all of you after having seen you guys in action over at Camp Wawanakwa last season. I really hope that you guys will appreciate having me and the other five new people along for the ride this time." Fergus told his castmates in a cheerful tone of voice.
"Hey, dude. It's nice to meet you too. I hope that all these other guys will enjoy having you and the other newbies along for the ride too." Harold told Fergus with a kind and friendly smile.
"Oh, I definitely will, Harold, bro. But don't go tampering with votes to cheat me out of the game, yeah? I saw what ya did with Courtney last season." Fergus responded to Harold with a playful wink as he shot the dweeb a pair of finger guns.
"After that ass whipping Courtney gave me at Playa des Losers last season? No way am I gonna be pulling that again this season. My bum is still sore from that pounding she laid back then." Harold admitted as he looked regretful whilst rubbing his lower back.
"Don't worry about it, Fergus. Harold over here won't be using any cheap or dirty tricks on this season as long as people go easy on him and that raven haired host man is more consistent on the rules of the game." Leshawna pitched in with a reassuring smile as she put an arm around Harold, causing the dweeb to blush and smile in response.
"Works perfectly fine for me, Leshawna. Best of luck to you and the other returning competitors." Fergus grinned as he high fived Leshawna, which the sassy young woman happily returned before Fergus proceeded to walk over to the rest of the contestants.
"Alright, now that all of the contestants for this season are here, it's time to hop aboard the McLean Train so we can get this show on the road!" Chris declared as all 28 contestants proceeded to step onto the trolley and sit themselves down, after which Chris proceeded to drive the trolley into the premises of the abandoned film lot where the season was going to take place.
"So, old and new teenage people alike, welcome to Total Drama Action, Season 2 of the hottest new reality show! As written in the instructions each and everyone was given prior to your arrival, this season will be filmed right here, on this abandoned old film lot!" Chris then proceeded to start explaining to the contestants.
Katie and Sadie proceeded to squeal happily as they looked around the abandoned film lot. "I just can't believe that I get to be staying at a film lot with my best friend in the whole wide world of all places and all people!" Katie yelled in an excited tone of voice as she hugged Sadie close.
"Ohmigosh, I know, right?! I've always wanted to go to a film lot in my life, and now I'm finally going to one with my best friend for life! It's like a dream come true!" Sadie chimed in with just as much excitement as she hugged Katie just as close.
"Why don't you two get a room if you wanna share your friendship that much?" Heather sarcastically asked the two valley girls as she folded her arms in front of her chest with an annoyed expression on her face.
"Back off, eh. Don't spoil those girls' excitement to be in a place they've been wanting to visit for years." Ezekiel shot back at the Queen Bee, coming to Katie and Sadie's defense, much to the surprise of many of the female competitors.
"You're actually defending the girls now instead of demeaning them?!" Bridgette asked Ezekiel in disbelief.
"I know, it's a total shocker." Noah sarcastically pitched in with a deadpan tone of voice.
"Eh, I told you that I was getting better at social involvement with girls, and it's starting to pay off." Ezekiel responded as he turned to look at Bridgette.
"See? I told you he was gonna keep to his word and not say anything mean about you and the other girls this time, Bridgette!" Geoff told his girlfriend with a reassuring smile as he proceeded to put an arm around her shoulder.
Bridgette looked a bit doubtful about that still. "I guess. While I still don't fully trust him, I am willing to give him the time of day to clean up his act from last season." She admitted.
"Good enough for me, yo." Ezekiel grinned and gave a thumbs up.
"Like last season, you guys will be staying here over the course of 8 weeks, competing in challenges for not only immunity as a team or as individuals, but also rewards, and last but certainly not least, a Monster Cash prize of a million dollars!" Chris moved on as the trolley continued to drive through the film lot, across multiple film sets.
"Oh, I'm ready to throw my hat into the ring again for that ginormous pile of moolah that's gonna be handed out to the winner of this season, alright!" Owen chuckled and rubbed his hands excitedly, with Izzy, who was sitting next to him, smiling and nodding her agreement.
"If you are, then you better bring on your A-game this season, big guy, 'cause you were last season's winner, and people are not gonna be giving you any mercy this season as a result of that." DJ pointed out to Owen before noticing the other contestants staring at him. "What? Just 'cause I'm a nice guy and I don't like hurting people's feelings don't mean I can't point out the obvious." The towering black teen defended himself, to which everyone nodded their agreement and looked back towards Chris, satisfied with DJ's explanation.
"Also returning from last season, the formula involving that one team will win the challenge, and a potential reward to boot, while the other team will be forced to watch one of their own make their way down the dreaded Walk of Shame, and into the Lame-o-sine, which will drive them out of the film lot, and over to the Hotel of Losers that's just up the street from the film lot." Chris explained to the contestants as they proceeded to drive past the area where the elimination ceremonies would be taking place, with a red carpet, the aforementioned Walk of Shame being rolled out in front of the place, and a run down limousine, the aforementioned Lame-o-sine being parked out in front of it. The Lame-o-sine then began sputtering smoke from its exhaust pipe, with both Chris and the contestants coughing up a storm in response.
"Man, are you sure they couldn't have opted for a ride that's not on the brink of breaking down whenever it's about to be driven?" Trent asked Chris curiously.
"Sadly, no. I did try to get a limo that's in better working condition, but the producers insisted on that old rust bucket you see over there, 'cause they deemed that losers aren't worthy of comfort while they leave the contest behind." Chris admitted to the musician before moving on.
"One thing that's unfortunately not returning from last season is the outhouse confessional for you guys to spill your deepest, darkest secrets away in. So instead, we've opted for a brand new makeup trailer confessional for you to dish away your dramatic dirt!" The raven haired host then announced as the trolley drove past the makeup trailer confessional that he was talking about.
-Confessional: Lindsay-
"Wow, I could totally get used to sitting around in here, letting out my true feelings about the contest and getting dolled up with all kinds of makeup!" The ditzy blond girl said in awe as she looked around the makeup trailer.
-End Confessional-
-Confessional: Ezekiel-
"This is a neat confessional booth they've put up for this season, yo! Shame I never got to stay in the game long enough last season to make use of the confessional, so I gotta make up for that this season by making use of this season's confessional! By the way, those make up puns were totally unintended..."
-End Confessional-
-Confessional: Beth-
"Personally, I don't care much for the make up in the trailer itself. I care much more for the fact that they got a proper place for us to give our thoughts on everything going on at this film lot rather than a smelly old outhouse like last season!" Beth exclaimed with pure joy.
-End Confessional-
-Confessional: Noah-
"A confessional that isn't a literal toilet. Big whoop. Not much else for me to say here." The Indian teen quipped in a boring tone of voice, his face radiating equal boredom.
-End Confessional-
-Confessional: Maz-
"Blimey, a makeup trailer for the season's confession booth is quite reminiscent of the makeup trailers back home in England that I use to prepare for my mermaid show performances in. That said, so far, I feel quite at home playing Total Drama in a film-oriented setting. It's my pièce de résistance, as my country's southwestern neighbors, the French would say." The British teen gave her ten cents, or pence, as the case might be.
-End Confessional-
-Confessional: Fergus-
"Heh heh, quite the cozy little spot they've set up in here for us to air our dirty laundry away in, figuratively speaking, of course. I doubt that this film lot's budget for sanitary services is so poor that we have to wash and dry our clothes in here using a tub of soapy water, a rag and a makeshift clothesline." Fergus said with a cheerful smile before shifting into a hopeful frown as he mentioned the show's sanitary services.
-End Confessional-
"Up here on your left, you'll find the Craft Services Tent, where my dedicated co-host, Chef will be serving you breakfast, lunch and dinner over the course of the season." Chris informed the contestants as he drove up to a decently sized catering tent before stopping in front of it before looking confused at a small ruckus that could be heard inside said tent before Chef Hatchet came storming out of it, brandishing a butcher knife with a pissed off expression on his face while he chased after a raccoon that was yelping in fear.
"If Chef's culinary qualities are anything like last season, then we can expect to be eating nothing but muck for the next 8 weeks." Gwen spoke up as she shivered in disgust at the thought of it.
"Tell me about it. My body is a temple, and I won't stand for having to inject Chef Hatchet's sorry excuse for food into it." Roscoe replied to the goth girl with a dissatisfactory glare on his face while he gestured towards his torso.
"Glad to know we're on the same page regarding the catering services of Total Drama, to say the least." Justin begrudgingly admitted from his seat, which happened to be right behind Roscoe's.
"Quit your whining, you spoiled elite stallion." Eva harshly quipped to Justin, who she happened to be sitting right next to, with the model looking annoyed at her in response.
Continuing to drive through the film lot, Chris moved on to the final part of his explanation of the season's rules and the commodities and services the film lot had to offer. "Should you be fortunate enough to survive Chef and his grueling food, you'll have to make it through our dreaded Awards Ceremony, where all but one safe competitor will receive a Gilded Chris Award!" The raven haired host told the competing cast as golden film awards modeled after the raven haired host in his image were shown.
-Confessional: Gwen-
The goth girl laughed at the idea of Chris having an award modeled after himself. "A Gilded Chris Award? Talk about narcissism at its finest." Gwen said before shifting to a more neutral expression and mood. "Don't get me wrong, though, I'd still like to have one if it means I get to stay in the competition longer and get myself closer to winning."
-End Confessional-
-Confessional: Edsel-
"Leave it to a vain dude like Chris McLean to have the show's safety symbols likened to resemble himself. I'm not gonna lie though that those awards look pretty cool, and if they're real awards, I wouldn't mind sneaking one home and putting it up on the mantle above my parents' fireplace." The thespian gave his thoughts about the Gilded Chris Awards.
-End Confessional-
"Are we almost finished with our tour of this place, dude? My cheeks are getting pretty dang sore from sitting around in this thing." Geoff admitted with a bored look on his face.
"I agree with Geoff, man. I know you love hearing your own lips flap, but this is starting to get a bit drawn out." Quora chimed in with an equally bored look on her face.
"Fear not, you guys, for we're almost done with our tour of the facility, which means that we're about to be able to move on to our very first challenge!" Chris assured the restless teenagers with a reassuring smile.
"Dropping us straight into the first challenge after the tour of the film lot wraps, huh? Sounds right up my alley." Cody smirked confidentally as he lounged in his seat with his hands behind his head and his legs crossed over each other.
"Tell me about it! It should be a great way for me to practice my skills during challenges so that I'll hopefully be able to last longer into the game than I did last time!" Tyler chimed his agreement as he was sitting next to Cody, pumping his fist in excitement.
Soon, the trolley began driving through an outer space film set, with Harold looking around in awe. "Gosh, I can't believe that despite this film lot having been abandoned, the film sets left behind still appear to be in great shape!" Harold said in amazement, with the other contestants smiling and nodding their agreement.
"That's because, Harold, this film lot wasn't abandoned up until a few months ago! You see, a few months ago, this film lot was used for its final shoot prior to the network buying it up for usage in this season of Total Drama!" Chris explained as the trolley left the outer space set behind and arrived in what looked like a big city film set.
"I'm probably gonna be jinxing things by asking this, but what exactly did that final film shoot prior to our arrival here involve?" Heather then asked the raven haired host.
"Well...it just so happened to be a monster film shoot, but the production was brought to an abrupt end after the main star went through some...malfunctions on set." Chris responded vaguely.
"Oh no...did she have a mental breakdown or fall into a coma or anything like that?" Lindsay asked in a concerned tone of voice.
"Actually, the main star wasn't a woman. Nor was the main star a man. It was actually an animatronic monster." Chris informed her as a couple of shots of large bite marks in the backdrops were shown, after which Gwen and a couple of other contestants looked frightened once Chris revealed this.
"...Just...what happened to that animatronic monster after filming?" Gwen asked in an unsettled tone of voice.
-Confessional: Gwen-
The goth girl sighed. "Looking back, that was probably a stupid thing to ask."
-End Confessional-
Suddenly, monstrous footsteps could be heard, alongside a roar just as monstrous, making the contestants cringe from how loud the roar was. "Relax, you guys. Chris over here's just pulling our legs." Duncan assured the other contestants before the animatronic monster used its gigantic tail to knock over an electricity pylon that came crashing down in front of the trolley, with Chris grimacing in fright upon noticing this, so he slammed on the brakes of the trolley, managing to stop it just in time so that the electricity pylon wouldn't crush the trolley with Chris and the contestants inside.
"Holy crap, that was close..." Chris said, taking a moment to catch his breath and take in what just happened, with the contestants peering over the side of the trolley railing to take a look at the remains of the electricity pylon in front of them.
"You mean to tell me that even you didn't see that one coming?!" Courtney asked the raven haired host in disbelief and shock.
"No, I didn't..." Chris responded, with the contestants looking concerned at one another afterward. The raven haired host then took a deep breath and recomposed himself as he turned back towards the contestants. "Well, while we try to forget about that, I wanna end the tour by letting you guys know that since we're shooting this season on a film lot, all of the challenges will be themed around movie genres as a result. And I think it's needless to say at this point, but the first challenge for this season happens to be themed after monster movies." The raven haired host explained to the contestants, after which they saw the animatronic monster walking by.
"Food...Shelter...Mama..." DJ muttered in shock before proceeding to faint. Chris and the rest of the contestants proceeded to get out of the trolley as the raven haired host kneeled down in front of DJ and listened to his breathing and heartbeat. He then looked back to the contestants.
"He's fine. He still has a pulse, and he's still breathing. Just out of it." Chris assured the other contestants as he proceeded to help DJ up and threw his arm around his shoulder to help the towering black teen stand while he was unconscious. "Anyway, for your first challenge, your goal is to get from the trolley to the cast trailers, which will serve as your sleeping arrangements for this season, while that animatronic monster over there will do anything in its power to prevent you from accomplishing that. And it just so happens that Chef could find it in his charitable nature to control the animatronic's movements. Chris explained to the contestants before the scene flashed to an indoor studio, where Chef was shown wearing a motion capture suit and standing in front of a series of monitors that showed footage of the film lot. Chef was moving his arms and legs up and down to control the movement of the animatronic, just as Chris said he was. "Further instructions will follow as soon as you've all made it to the cast trailers without getting caught by the monster."
The contestants all looked at one another with uncertainty, but readied themselves for their first challenges regardless. They then awaited the cue from the raven haired host to start the challenge. "Well then, without further ado, Lights, Camera, Action!" Chris announced with a smile before blinking in confusion as the contestants stared at him blankly. "That's the cue that the challenge has started." He explained, after which the contestants all made a dash for it, pushing one another or otherwise getting physical with one another as they were determined to be the first to get to the cast trailers.
"Well, I do wish we could show you how this first challenge plays out, but sadly, we're out of running time for this first episode, since the introductory formalities were too big of a mouthful to mix the actual challenge in with. So tune in next time, and we're gonna look at the first challenge, on...Total...Drama...Action!" Chris wrapped up the first half of the first episode while he still had the unconscious DJ hanging over his shoulder.

And with that, we've come to the end of the first part of the first episode of Total Rewrite Action! I've been a fan of Total Drama for years on end, but only recently have I been playing around with rewriting Action as the first entry in my series of Total Drama fanfics that I've decided to appropriately dub "the Rewriteverse". Action had its fair share of issues compared to the 2007 version of Island, the main one being the small cast roster in spite of the 26 episode format, and many non-elimination episodes being issued as a result, so I aimed to fix that by having all 22 contestants who appeared in the 2007 version of Total Drama Island return alongside 6 of my OCs to make a huge 28-person contestant roster to avoid having too many filler episodes in this story. Another notable change that you might have noticed in this story is the personality of Chris McLean, who is much nicer here than he is in the canon Total Drama seasons. I never really liked the evil psychopath route they took with Chris in the canon seasons, so I decided to tone that down a lot and have him be much nicer in my story, similar to Jeff Probst, the host of the American version of Survivor that Chris McLean was based on, as well as a couple of other Total Drama fanfics on this site that I've happened to read.
Anyway, that's about all I got to say here! Be sure to leave a review on this story and let me know your thoughts on the story so far, along with any feedback that I could use to improve the story wherever possible! See you guys next time!
Sincerely, ZoltanKnight26
