I work through a quiet day; I rub my forehead, feeling a headache coming in. My shift ends at the supermarket, and I head on over to 'The Exit Racks' to go meet Erika. When I get there, she's already there, sipping some coffee. "Hi Erika." She looks up at me and smiles. That's when I notice a big bruise all over the right side of her face. I go into panic mode. "Mom! What happened?!" "This is why I need some help. I can't stay with that jerk anymore." I sit down next to her and hug her, almost crying. "Mom, please don't go away again. I need you." She hugs me tighter. "I'm not going to leave ever again. I promise." "Thank you, Mom." After a minute of hugging, we start talking, and I find out the reason why Erika's husband is being abusive. It's because of his childhood father. Turns out his father also abused him, and Erika's husband, when he was a kid, made his dad hit him. Now, he's the abusive person. After hearing all that from Erika, I wanted to punch the guy, but I also wanted to feel sympathy for him. Mom notices my facial expressions and puts a hand on my shoulder. "No, my boy, no. He may be like that, but it's still wrong to go and punch him. I am not leaving you, but I am leaving him forever. I will never choose him over you again." We finish talking, and then I take her to my apartment. When we get there, Veronica and Leia are asleep on the couch, snuggling, watching a Rom-Com. I go and put a blanket over the two of them. "Now, who are these beautiful girls?" "The ginger is my girlfriend, Veronica. The blonde is my baby sister, Leia. She's fifteen, you know." "She is, huh?" Veronica wakes up.
