I know in one of my previous chapters I said that Harvey Dent would be in the next chapter, but after I decided to add a few child ocs I had to change a few things. But I do promise that the next chapter will have Harvey Dent in it.

Fireboy

A little later Leo was sitting in a chair and was watching Martin and Oswald practice with one of Oswald's knives. Sofia then walked in, making Leo smile when he saw his mother, and she said, "You've met Martin, I see."

"He's practicing. No. It's up," Oswald instructs the boy, "Upward, Martin, so that way you drive the blade under the ribs and into the heart."

"Oswald?" Sofia questions.

Oswald answered, "Entirely theoretically speaking, of course."

Mr. Penn came in and said with his hands in front of him, "Urgent matters, Mr. Cobblepot. It seems that Ms. Kean and her associates have failed to retrieve Mr. Nygma."

"Did you dispatch Firefly?" Oswald asked with his arms folded.

"I did," Mr. Penn answers, "And Ms. Firefly was herself, in turn, disabled."

Oswald yelled, "What?!"

"You heard what he said," a young male voice spoke. A boy with curly brown hair and blue eyes stepped inside of the room and he had a very angry look on his face. The boy looked a little older than Martin and Leo and was dressed in gray fireproof clothing and a cloak. "It turns out Nygma has himself a girl toy and she hurt my mom. She will pay for what she did to her."

"Mom?" Leo repeated shocked, and asked, "Who did it?"

The boy looked over at the two younger boys narrowing his eyes he answered, "Not that it's any of your business, but Lee Thompkins or as The Narrows call her, Doc," he then scoffs, "But my name for her is Quack."

Leo's eyes widen and he gasped. "Auntie Lee hurt someone's mom. Why?"

Martin notices his friend's reaction and writes, "Do you know her?"

Leo whispers to Martin, "I'll tell you later." Then Leo decides to change the subject and introduces himself and Martin to the older boy, "My name's Leo and this is Martin." Leo points to his friend, who gives a friendly wave.

"I'm Ethan. Ethan Pike," he introduces himself.

"Nice to meet you Ethan," Leo said smiling.

Ethan nods, "Same to you."

"There's more," said Mr. Penn hesitantly.

"Yes?!" Oswald said in agitation.

"The mayor, at his own discretion, has seen fit to promote Detective Gordon to the rank... of captain," Mr. Penn explains.

Leo and Martin looked at each other as if they were thinking the same thing. Ethan had an impatient look on his face as he rolled his eyes and his arms were folded.

Oswald went to yell, but he instead calmed down, "That is..." he calmed down and said "That is... quite a lot to go awry in one day."

"Very good, Mr. Cobblepot," said Mr. Penn not knowing what else to say and he left.

"You see, Oswald? Business is not the end-all of life. There are other rewards to be had. Companionship, peace of mind. Friendship," Sofia states, "Oh, I have to get back to the estate with Leo, I still have so much to do for the fund-raiser. Will you be joining me later for dinner?"

"I think not," Oswald declines, "Martin needs some more practice."

Ethan groans with annoyance, not because he wanted to spend time with the quiet boy, but because it doesn't seem like he was going to do anything to help Bridgit. And Ethan is sick and tired of people hurting his mother and doesn't care what the reasons were, even before she became Firefly there were people who were hurting her, like his step-uncles and she deserved better.

"I've got to go," Ethan decides and says to Leo and Martin, "Nice meeting you guys. I hope to see you again soon." He then walked out of the room.

"Very well then," Sofia said, "Leo say goodbye to Martin."

Leo walked over to Martin and they hugged each other goodbye. Sofia grabbed Leo's hand and they walked out.

When Sofia and Leo got back home to the mansion, they saw Jim Gordon waiting outside on the steps in front of their home. "Mommy there's something I need to tell you."

"Hold on Leo, go inside," Sofia told her son. Leo got out of the car and walked up the stairs to the front door, but frowns at Jim and looks at him cautiously for a moment. He then went inside and closed the door.

After Leo is inside the mansion, Sofia spoke, "By Captain Gordon. You came to celebrate after all."

"I'm not here to celebrate," Jim replies.

Sofia gives a confused look, "What's wrong I made you Captain didn't I?"

"You made me?" Jim repeats, "Is that what you think?"

"Jim," Sofia began as if she was going to lecture him.

"You can toy with Penguin all you want," Jim told her, "But I am not your puppet."

"No you're not, you're my partner," said Sofia.

"Your partner?" Jim repeats and states, "I just stuck a knife in my partner's back."

"A mercy killing if you ask me," Sofia says coldly, "Grow up. You wanted a gangster to help you get rid of Penguin this is what that help looks like. Harvey had to go." Sofia then put both of her hands on Jim.

Jim took her hands off him and said, "I don't need your help anymore. I think it's time you take your son and left Gotham."

Sofia smiled at that and shook her head a little, "I'm not going anywhere Jim and neither is Leo." Sofia then walked up to the door, "I came to restore the Falcone name and that's exactly what I'm going to do." Opening the door she adds, "So do you want to come in and celebrate, Captain?"

"I think I'll stay out here where I can breathe," Jim said and then left.

After Jim left Sofia went inside the house and saw Leo looking at one of his books. When Leo saw her come in he asked, "What did the detective want?"

Sofia smiled softly and said, "Don't worry baby, it's nothing to worry about, so how did today go?"

After a moment's hesitation Leo answers, "I don't think Mr. Penguin trusts you. He kept saying how friendship must be shunned and how it's a great form of manipulation."

Sofia is silent for a moment and then says, "Oh well thank you Leo, I knew I could trust you."

Leo hugged his mother and Sofia smiled softly at him. Then Leo says looking down at the floor feeling conflicted, "Mommy? Martin isn't going to get hurt right? He's my best friend and my first friend. I mean I love Catherine too, but I hardly ever get to see her and Uncle Alberto, the last time was Uncle Mario's wedding. And Mr. Penguin was so nice and he helped Martin with some bullies. I mean I know what you said about him, but he seems like a nice guy, I don't want him to get hurt either."

Sofia firmly grabs Leo's hand as she led him to the couch as they sat down and Sofia put a finger under Leo's chin to make him look up at her and spoke to him, "Honey, what do I say about friends?"

Leo answers, "That they can hurt you."

Sofia nods, "Yes and I know Oswald seems nice right now but when he finds out the truth he will use you against me. And Martin, he may seem like your friend now, but he won't always be like that. Baby I'm only doing this to protect you."

Leo looks down sadly, but replies, "Okay, but Martin is so nice and he's my friend. I trust him."

"Alright I promise that Martin won't get hurt," Sofia said smiling softly.

Leo hugged her, "Thank you Mommy." Sofia smirked as she had just lied to her son.
