(26)-Bus Station.
5:50 AM
The taxi pulled over to the bus station property, where several people were lined up at the open entrance of a white bus they were boarding, and Kyle opened the right door and got out with his duffle-bag and backpack, having just paid the driver, followed by putting them on, then he went to the front passenger-door where the driver let down the window for him.
"Thanks for the lift." Kyle said.
"No problem, kid. Hey, keep me in mind for any future journeys you might take should you ever return." The driver said.
"Yeah, you'll be my first call." Kyle said.
"Thanks." The driver said. "I'll take that grand now, if ya don't mind." He said as he held out his right hand at the open window.
Kyle reached inside his left back pants-pocket, got out his wallet-followed by getting out some cash. "Here ya go." He said as he offered the money to the driver through the window.
"Thank you kindly for the cash and thank you for choosing the Taxi Express." Said the driver as he took the money, followed by placing it in his right pants-pocket. "Now..." He began. "how 'bout a little somethin' extra for, uh, you know, for my patience back at the rest-place?"
"So stopping at the rest-stop meant an extra charge?" Kyle asked.
"Hey, a fella's gotta eat, right?" The driver said.
"Wait one sec." Kyle said before returning to the open back door and getting out the rest-stop bag, which now contained only one item. He closed the back door before returning to the front passenger-door. "Wouldn't you rather have this?" The 18-year old asked, offering the mysterious item in the bag through the window.
"What's this?" The driver asked before removing the item from the bag, revealing it to be a small brown pizza box. "A pizza? For me?"
"Yeah, for you. Think of it as me making up for all the time i made you wait for me back at the rest-stop." Kyle said.
"Hey, consider us even. Thanks, kid. I knew i smelled somethin' back there when we left the rest-place." The driver said, smiling.
"Riiiiiight. Remind me on the next trip, will ya?" Kyle said.
"Yeah, yeah, thanks a lot, kid. May you find what you're expecting." Said the driver before driving off.
"I hope i do." Kyle said as he watched the cab drive off into the darkness. The teenage-boy then looked at the bus and the people who were boarding it, wondering where it was going before he turned and ran towards the bus station-which was a small building with steps and a porch and it's lights on.
