Chapter 40

"…You. You're the mole?"

I knew it. Judy's heart sank as Fenton glared at her with a searing venom.

She remembered the day he got sworn in. When Clawhauser showed him where the good coffee was. And that time when Bogo gave him some advice after a bad case. But what really tipped Judy off was when Judy remembered Fenton talking about his twin brother Dalton. Fenton once said that he got all the brain while Dalton got all the muscle. Making perfect henchmen for Ermine to use and abuse. A smart, charming, and cunning figure on the inside. While the other did the outside dirty work with his muscle, imposing figure, and harsh tongue. Plus…Nick might have given her a hint or two after he informed her about his 'interrogation' with the badger that had helped blow up the house.

"Why?" Judy asked, hoping the true part of the plan would work.

"You don't need to know." Fenton answered pressing the gun closer to Judy's head. "Isn't that right boss?"

"Indeed." A voice echoed through the alley sending a chill down Judy's spine, freezing her in place.

She knew that voice she'd remember on her deathbed. And in a way she had once remembered it already.

"Release the rabbit…and maybe, just maybe, I'll let you live." Nick's voice echoed through her head as she was forced to reminisce.

"I think… I'll do something else!" The feeling of her ears being pulled as she fell down that cliff into the cold water.

"JUDY!" The last thing I heard was the fox I so desperately love calling out my name in panic.

"Dean." Judy hissed under her breath trying to remain strong and not let the fear take hold.

"In the flesh."

Judy listened past his cackling to hear the distinct sound of a limp.

The bastard didn't get away unharmed either…good. Judy was able to stand straighter in pride at how she came out of the situation breathing and walking with no limp. Even though it was clearly Dean's last-ditch effort to kill Judy.

"Hand it over." Dean ordered standing behind Judy.

Judy strained her ears and was able to eat at least two more sets of breaths.

"Hand what over?" Judy feigned ignorance.

Dean, annoyed, slapped Judy on the back side of the head. However, Judy figured he'd do something violent, so she was prepared.

"I'll make sure to add assaulting an officer to your arrest charges."

"You won't live that long." Dean declared aggressively grabbing Judy by the shoulder to turn her around.

Judy's eyes went wide, and her heart skipped a beat at the sight of Dean, not in a good way. The last time she had seen the weasel he had stood tall, spoken concisely, and appeared refined. But now it was like his outward appearance matched his inside personality. His leg had been bent in a bad way making it appear as though someone had just kicked it and it's been frozen in time. A scar ran over his left eye rendering it practically useless. As well as a missing ear surrounded by a bald patch. And a few teeth were missing from his upper and lower jaw. He very clearly didn't get all those injuries from falling into the river. It was his punishment for failing.

"Search her." Dean ordered.

Fenton obeyed immediately patting Judy's pockets feeling for the flash drive.

"So, what's your story after this Fenton? If I end up dead and you have no injury people, my people, will get suspicious." Judy asked, trying not to flinch when his claws neared her abdomen.

"You ran after a suspect, I failed to catch up, and discovered your body just in time to watch your life slowly sliped away." Fenton lazily said as he dug deeper into her pocket that he watched Judy place the flash drive into. "The usual lame shtick that keeps my record clean and your death unsolved."

"Fuck you." Judy hissed, wishing she could be defiant enough to hit someone. But she feared the retaliation could bring harm to her unborn child.

"You wish." Fenton teased as he excitedly grabbed the flash drive. "Got it, boss!"

Dean didn't say anything to Fenton. He just simply held out his hand for the tiger. Only once the flash drive was in his hand did Dean decide to show any emotion besides annoyance. He smirked at Judy, almost defiantly, before dropping the flash drive on the ground.

"You should have stayed with the fox, Rabbit." Dean hissed before stomping on the flash drive.

Judy flinched at the sound of the flash drive cracking. And she continued to flinch as Dean stomped on it repeatedly.

"Now that that's taken care of. Fenton, a gift for you." One of the two mammals that guarded Dean threw a gun for Fenton to catch. "I suggest you don't lose it."

"Obviously." Fenton scoffed as if his intelligence was insulted.

"If I may." Judy spoke, grabbing everyone's attention. "Before you start planning my murder…I suggest you worry about yours first."

"What are you-" Dean stopped speaking as a bright red light placed itself in the middle of Fenton's temple.

"Boss?" Fenton asked unaware of the situation.

"What?" Dean began to look around in a panic. There was only one red dot, but Dean knew that didn't mean there was only one sniper. "You-you set us up?!"

"Who?" Judy cocked her head to the side innocently. "Certainly not me, the dumb cop bunny."

"You...You bit-"

BANG!

A loud crashing sound erupted through the alleyway making everyone jump in place. Judy looked in the direction of the sound only to panic.

There, collapsed on her knees, at the side of the alley was a young grey fox child. She stared at everyone wide-eyed with fear.

This isn't part of the plan!
