Chapter 47

Dear, God. If I'm dreaming…please don't ever let me wake up!

Nick froze for a second waiting for Judy to pull back and try to sweep away her actions. But she didn't, giving Nick the silent permission, he needed to continue. Gently raising his arms Nick caressed her cheeks pulling her closer into the kiss. Judy hummed in approval furthering Nick's drive.

The warmth from their skin contact as not a gap of air was allowed between them. They danced their tongues against each other for dominance as they traded saliva. Nick felt feral and allowed one of his hands to travel down Judy's back.

Judy at first thought that she was being dumb…actually, she already knew she was. But the minute her lips traded warmth with Nick's…Judy's rationality left the room. And then her rationality decided to go on holiday when Nick deepened the kiss. Every molecule of her being that had told her to run away from the Shadow lost the war to her heart, her lust, and her desire for Nicholas Wilde.

How warm her skin got when Nick's hand began to wander lower down her back. How slow and delicate he was being made her heart beat faster than a racehorse. It was like he was rediscovering what the feeling of her skin felt.

Nick wanted to devour her for a moment. But Judy pulled her head away briefly to breathe. Nick wasn't satisfied with this. Since Judy needed to breathe Nick began to trace his lips around her neck. Judy made a small squeak in surprise before leaning into his warmth.

They missed this. God did they miss this. The connection, the longing, the endless desire for each other.

Feeling a moment of bravery Judy reclaimed Nick's lips with hers before crawling into his lap. She wanted to be closer she needed to feel his warmth even more.

Nick welcomed her openly as Judy straddled his lap. The hand that was exploring her back began to lift her shirt so he could feel her skin directly. While the other cupped the back of her head to pull her closer. He desperately did not want her to disappear into thin air. He was terrified that this dream would end. And when he wakes up Judy would hate him again.

Judy feeling his desperation dance along with her own began to unbutton his shirt. She wanted to explore his chest. She wanted to kiss away any new scars and make him forget the pain by replacing it with pleasure. And if there weren't any scars to kiss away…well Judy would still like to relearn every vein, muscle, and curve of this cunning fox.

It was Nick's turn to feel warm under her touch. He broke away to calm himself from going wild. But Judy wasn't having it. It was her turn to trail her lips against his skin. But she aimed lower than he did turning him on exponentially. He could feel her smirk against his skin as his manhood tried to spring forth from his waistband.

Judy pulled her lips away from her chest and looked at Nick. The two mammals stared into each other's lust-hazed eyes with anticipation and longing.

KNOCK! KNOCK!

"Judy~ Are you okay? Tia called from the other side of the door. "The Shadow disappeared, and I thought we should talk about our next steps."

And just like that Judy's rationality came back early from vacation and went into panic mode. And the heat that once soared through her body vanished in an instant. Nick however wasn't willing to let this moment go.

"Tell her to leave…we can continue." Nick whispered in a husky tone before nipping her ear.

"Nick!" Judy exclaimed in a hushed whisper feeling her face flush.

"Tell her to leave." Nick suggested one more time feeling Judy slip away.

"I-Ah!"

Nick kissed her neck feverishly in desperation.

Please don't let this moment end. Please!

"Judy?"

"I- I um- I'm fine." Judy eventually stated trying not to moan from Nick's deep kisses. "Nick stop."

And just like that Nick stopped his feverish pursuit and slumped forward. One of the first rules Mr. Big taught him when he started showing interest in sex. When a woman says stop you stop, no questions asked. But Nick wasn't ready to let go. He wrapped his arms around Judy pulling her close as he rested his head on her shoulder.

"Are you sure?" Tia called from the door again.

"Yeah." Judy sighed depressingly while rubbing Nick's back. "I just need a minute."

"Just holler if you need me." Tia called before walking off. "I'm gonna go make sure the kid doesn't steal anything else."

"Okay." Judy called back halfheartedly.

When a second of silence passed Judy turned her head towards Nick.

"Don't kill her." Judy joked with a hint of seriousness.

"I'll think about it." Nick eventually answered giving Judy a tighter hug.

"I need to go, Nick." Judy answered pulling her head away so she could face Nick head-on.

He couldn't meet her eyes.

"Nick?" Judy caressed his cheek urging him to look at her.

Nick leaned into her warmth finally mustering up the courage to look at her.

"Will you…will you come back?" Nick asked terrified of her answer.

Judy gave him a small smile before placing a kiss on his temple.

"It is too late for me to run away again."

And just like that Nick was no longer scared of the dream ending and his heart grew lighter. Ecstatic Nick pulled Judy into one more kiss. Judy giggled allowing Nick to feel closure.

Eventually, Nick and Judy were able to pull themselves away from each other. And when Judy was finally ready to leave the bathroom Nick wrapped his arms around her waist hugging her from behind.

"Please return to me." Nick mumbled into her shoulder.

"When the time is right… I will." Judy answered calmly.

She couldn't be mad at his neediness. If anything, she wished to be equally as needy. They annoyed each other, befriended each other, fell in love together, broke each other, and now they were back walking the tightrope of uncertainty. They both were possibly making a mistake again. But it was a mistake they desperately wanted to make together. And they wanted to survive together.

Is this what true love was? Or was this the shadow that hid behind serendipitous moments of life? Nick and Judy didn't know but they desperately hoped they could learn from their mistakes and trust each other again.

Nick released his hold on Judy allowing her to leave. He tried to calm his heart as uncertainty took hold. He trusted Judy's word but he wasn't sure he could trust himself to not somehow fuck this up again.
