"Well, Charles, I just want to hear your report on the situation in Freeside now."

"Well, Ashley, the Iron Gang is effectively fighting among themselves on their own turf, and that's, of course, due to their leader letting us go. I also surveyed many of the Freeside gangsters attacking us from Westside using stealth boys, but after their move to Westside, their Stealth Boys just don't hit the same. The NCR is dealing with it effectively now."
"All right, that's good. Thanks, Charles," said Ashley.

"Yeah. Also, have you heard about the situation at the front? I haven't been keeping up with the news lately—mostly been focusing on helping with the money and just dealing with Freeside," said Charles.

"Yeah, I mean, not much to mention. It's mostly been static—they're still fighting in Boulder City, and the Legion still has Forlorn Hope. But in regards to the situation up north, the Anti-NCR League hasn't been able to take Arroyo. With Arroyo's history, they should've expected it wouldn't be an easy task, even with Arroyo's inferior tech."

"Yeah, the Chosen One's legacy lives on. He was a hero, and because of that, Arroyo gives us what we need—time," said Charles.
There was a faint pause before Ashley said

"So, this is just an off-the-cuff question, but based on my info do you think the Anti-NCR League will attack us after they're done with Arroyo?"

"More than likely, but from what you said if Arroyo is holding out, we have time. Even if it falls, the league will still need time to recover. That's why the NCR needs to get troops to take back Searchlight and Cottonwood Cove quickly. It can be done now that from what I've heard, the Rangers have finally stabilized the NCR's new regions. And from that, these Navajo traps can be dealt with by the Rangers and we can cut off the Legion's center from supply. Plus, their deployment can't be limited anymore by that bastard Oliver, who kept restricting their capabilities for his own glory rather than using them for the benefit of winning this war."
"Yeah, sounds reasonable, Charles. But I also didn't bring you here just for a report—General Moore wants you at Boulder City."
"For what?" said Charles.

"Well, from what House told me, they need you as a representative there for something."
"They got a ride?" said Charles

"Yeah, it should be arriving in a few minutes from what I've heard, so just wait out there." said Ashley

Then Charles left the agency and waited a few minutes until the truck arrived. When he saw Lieutenant Cromwell, he said,

"Lieutenant, you're the one taking me?"

"It's Captain now, sir."

"Well deserved, Captain, but what are you doing here if you're a captain?"

"Well, the General thought you would prefer someone familiar to you."
"Sure," said Charles before hopping into the truck.

"Wait, we're waiting for your guy, Theodore." said Cromwell

"Why's he coming?" said Charles.

"Well, apparently you're so important, sir, that you need a bodyguard," said the now-Captain Cromwell in a sarcastic tone.

Then there was an awkward silence before Theodore arrived and said,

"Sir, sorry for my intrusion, but Ms. Ashley forgot to tell you I was coming for your protection," said Theodore quite sternly.

"Yup, Captain Cromwell already told me. Well, I guess hop on in then."

Without much noise, Theodore got in, and Cromwell started the truck.
Driving outside of Freeside, with the blank stares of the Freesiders looking back, they continued on as the Mojave air breathed over them.

As they drove on, they encountered a few dead Freeside gangsters lying on the ground near Westside, and Charles commented,

"Well, at least our militant problem is being taken care of."

"They simply didn't have the resources necessary to hinder our efforts. If they were still staying in Freeside, I would butcher them. They're lucky they left."said Theodore

"Ha, your Freeside problem seems equivalent to our Legion problem," said the captain while driving.

"And that's why we're going to help you," said Charles.
Continuing on, they eventually reached the outskirts of Boulder City, which was war-torn back from the First Battle of Hoover Dam and, even more so now, with the Legion and NCR fighting in the city.
Once they were in the city, they eventually parked in a garage near the main command base.

As they heard the pounding of artillery, the captain said,

"Let's just wait here for a bit. Artillery strikes happen periodically, and we wouldn't want any of you to be blown off your feet, would we?" she said sarcastically.

"That certainly wouldn't be good," Theodore said plainly.
Once the artillery strikes stopped they continued on, leaving the garage and entering the main command base.
Once there, many soldiers were patrolling, while others were making reports. The captain then led them to General Moore's office.
Once there, the captain knocked on the door, and then the general opened it and said:

"Well, alright. Thank you for bringing Charles, Captain. You're dismissed. And Charles, come on in and bring your guy in here with you."

"Guns can stay on?" said Charles.

"Yeah."

Then, once they entered, the general said:

"Well, I'm sure you heard from your people that you were brought as a representative. While that's true, I'll explain what that means. I heard you were in California when the nukes hit and crawled through thick and thin to reach New Vegas. Plus, you've got 200 years of combat experience — that true?"

"Yeah."

"So I'll be honest — the war isn't going well for us, Charles. So we asked your people if they would allow you to serve as a military advisor and representative for New Vegas, and they accepted. There'll be a contingent of your Freeside agents and securitrons here to help in the fight. So what I'm asking is: would you accept this job to protect both New Vegas and the NCR against Legion aggression?"

"I shall," said Charles.
