The next day, Archie left for work at Andrews Construction early, not wanting to wake Veronica after her rough night. About 20 minutes later, Veronica, still asleep, began to stir, her head pounding from the hangover. A gentle knocking on the bedroom door interrupted her restless sleep. The door opened to reveal one of her best friends, Emily Cooper.

Emily tiptoed into the room and softly called out, "Veronica? Are you awake?"

Veronica groaned and rolled over, burying her face in the pillow. "What happened last night?" she mumbled, her voice muffled.

Emily sat on the edge of the bed and gently shook Veronica's shoulder. "You had quite a night. You drank way too much, and we had to help you home."

Veronica opened one eye and looked at Emily, her memory hazy. "I don't remember any of it."

Emily sighed and handed Veronica a glass of water. "You were pretty out of it. We tried to stop you, but you kept drinking."

Veronica took a sip of the water and closed her eyes, wincing at the headache that followed. "I need to go back to sleep."

Emily gently shook her head. "I don't think that's a good idea. What about the wedding preparations? We only have a few months left."

Veronica's eyes snapped open. "Oh no! I completely forgot about that!"

Emily smiled sympathetically. "It's okay. We can handle it. But first, let's get you feeling better. Do you want some Blowfish? It's great for hangovers."

Veronica nodded weakly. "Yes, please. I feel awful."

Emily stood up and headed to the kitchen, where she prepared a Blowfish tablet in a glass of water. As the tablet dissolved, she poured herself a cup of coffee. Returning to the bedroom, she handed the glass to Veronica.

"Here, drink this. It should help with the hangover."

Veronica took the glass and sipped the fizzy drink, grimacing at the taste. "Thanks, Emily. I don't know what I'd do without you."

Emily smiled and sat back down. "That's what friends are for. Now, let's talk about the wedding. What still needs to be done?"

Veronica rubbed her temples, trying to clear her head. "We need to finalize the guest list, confirm the caterer, and I still haven't picked out my wedding dress."

Emily nodded, making mental notes. "Okay, we can handle that. Let's start with the guest list. Do you have it somewhere?"

Veronica pointed to her desk. "It should be in the top drawer."

Emily retrieved the list and sat back down, scanning the names. "Looks like we have most of the important people, but we might need to cut a few. What about the caterer?"

Veronica groaned. "I haven't confirmed with them yet. I should do that today."

Emily patted her hand. "We'll take care of it. First, finish your Blowfish and get dressed. We have a lot to do."

Veronica nodded and finished the drink, feeling a slight relief from the pounding in her head. She slowly got out of bed and headed to the bathroom to freshen up.

Emily returned to the kitchen, texting Mindy and Olivia to update them on Veronica's condition and the wedding preparations. By the time Veronica emerged from the bathroom, looking slightly more alive, Emily had already started making breakfast.

As Veronica sat down at the kitchen table, Emily placed a plate of scrambled eggs and toast in front of her. "Eat up. You need your strength."

Veronica smiled weakly. "Thanks, Emily. You're a lifesaver."

They ate breakfast together, discussing the remaining wedding plans. Veronica felt grateful for Emily's support and determination to make sure everything went smoothly.

After breakfast, they tackled the to-do list, starting with the guest list. Veronica crossed off a few names and added a couple more, then they moved on to contacting the caterer.

By midday, they had made significant progress. Veronica felt more in control and less overwhelmed, thanks to Emily's help. They even managed to squeeze in a few laughs, easing the tension from the previous night.

As they wrapped up their tasks for the day, Emily looked at Veronica with a smile. "See? We're getting there. Everything's going to be perfect."

Veronica nodded, feeling a sense of relief. "Thanks, Emily. I couldn't have done this without you."

Emily shrugged. "That's what friends are for. Now, let's get some rest. Tomorrow's another day, and we'll keep moving forward."

Veronica agreed, feeling more optimistic about the wedding and confident that, with her friends' help, everything would turn out just fine.
