At midnight, Archie stood outside the bedroom door, his hand trembling slightly as he knocked. The door creaked open, and Veronica stood there, her eyes red from crying, her expression a mixture of hurt and anger.

Veronica: "What do you want, Archie?"

Archie: "Can we talk about what happened this afternoon?"

Veronica hesitated but then stepped aside, allowing Archie to enter. She sat on the edge of the bed, arms crossed, waiting for him to speak.

Archie: "I invited Betty over. It was a mistake, and I'm sorry. I didn't mean for things to get so out of hand."

Veronica's eyes narrowed. "Why would you even think of inviting her, Archie? After everything she's done?"

Archie: "I thought maybe we could clear the air, end the drama. But Betty... she initiated the whole mess."

Veronica's anger flared. "How? Explain it to me, Archie. How did she initiate it?"

Archie: "When she arrived, she... she changed into that lingerie and started coming onto me. I didn't know how to stop it. I was stupid, and I froze."

Veronica stood up, pacing the room. "So you just let her? Do you realize how that makes me feel, Archie? Where's your loyalty? Your trust in me?"

Archie: "Veronica, I love you. I swear, I didn't want any of this to happen. It was a mistake, a huge one. I didn't know how to handle it, and I'm sorry."

Veronica stopped pacing, her eyes filling with tears again. "Why were you with her, Archie? Why?"

Archie: "It was a lapse in judgment. I thought I could fix things, make the situation better. But I was wrong. I'll never do it again. I promise."

Veronica stared at him for a long moment, searching his eyes for any hint of deceit. Finally, she sighed, her shoulders sagging with the weight of her emotions. "Archie, you need to understand how much this hurt me. Betty has always been a thorn in our relationship, and inviting her here was a betrayal."

Archie: "I know, Veronica. And I regret it more than anything. Please, believe me when I say that I love you, and I never meant to hurt you."

Veronica took a deep breath, wiping away a tear. "I forgive you, Archie. But this can't happen again. We need to communicate better and trust each other."

Archie: "Absolutely. I'll do whatever it takes to make things right."

Veronica nodded, taking his hand. "We'll work through this. Together."

Archie squeezed her hand gently. "Together."

They sat in silence for a moment, the tension slowly dissipating. Veronica leaned her head on Archie's shoulder, feeling a glimmer of hope amidst the chaos.
