As Veronica and Archie dealt with the BBQ crisis, Veronica's frustration continued to mount. She pulled out her phone and texted her bridesmaids Tabitha Tate, Olivia Baker, Emily Cooper, and Mindy Chen in a group chat.
Veronica: Guys, we've hit a major snag with the wedding catering. The BBQ place can't ship to Paris. I don't know what to do.
A flurry of responses quickly followed.
Emily: Oh no! That's terrible!
Mindy: Can't we find a local place in Paris that does BBQ?
Olivia: This is such a mess. We were counting on that BBQ.
Tabitha, always quick to look for the source of problems, chimed in.
Tabitha: I bet it's your dad, Veronica. Hiram Lodge is probably behind this.
Veronica paused, considering the possibility. Hiram had a history of meddling in her life, and it wouldn't be the first time he tried to sabotage something important to her.
Veronica: You might be right, Tabitha. He's done worse.
Emily shifted the conversation to another pressing issue.
Emily: Speaking of the wedding, Veronica, who's replacing Betty as your maid of honor?
Veronica hesitated. She hadn't settled on a replacement yet, but she knew Emily wouldn't like her initial choice.
Veronica: I was thinking about Cheryl Blossom.
Emily: Cheryl? Really? Veronica, you said she was just a wedding guest. She's... intense.
Veronica sighed, understanding Emily's concerns. Cheryl was a wild card, and having her as maid of honor might add unnecessary drama.
Veronica: I know, I know. What about Sarah Cameron from Outer Banks?
Olivia, ever the voice of reason, stepped in.
Olivia: Veronica, a maid of honor isn't just a title. It's a role of responsibility. Sarah's great, but do you think she can handle it?
Veronica felt overwhelmed. The choice of maid of honor was supposed to be special, but now it was turning into another source of stress.
Olivia: You can't count Sarah as your maid of honor just because she's available. It's a recipe for disaster. Besides, this is supposed to be someone really close to you.
Veronica sighed, knowing Olivia was right. Before she could respond, Olivia continued.
Olivia: Honestly, Veronica, have you thought about giving Betty another chance?
Veronica's fingers hovered over the screen. After everything Betty had done, it felt impossible to consider.
Veronica: After what Betty did to both Archie and me? She betrayed me, Olivia.
Olivia: I know she did, but think about your friendship. Everyone makes mistakes. Maybe this is a chance for reconciliation.
Veronica felt a pang of sadness. Betty had been her best friend for so long, and losing her had left a void. But the betrayal still stung deeply.
Veronica: I'll think about it, Olivia. But it's hard.
Olivia: I know it is. But sometimes giving someone a second chance can be worth it. Think about it, okay?
Veronica ended the conversation feeling more conflicted than ever. She knew Olivia had a point, but the wounds were still fresh. She walked over to where Archie was sitting, focusing on some wedding details.
Veronica: "Archie, Olivia thinks I should give Betty another chance."
Archie looked up, his face showing a mix of concern and understanding. "Do you think you can?"
Veronica shrugged. "I don't know. Part of me wants to move on and forget about her. But another part misses my best friend."
Archie reached out, taking her hand. "Maybe talk to her. See if there's a way to mend things. But only if you're ready."
Veronica nodded, feeling a bit of hope. "I'll think about it."
The next few days were a whirlwind of wedding preparations and unresolved emotions. Veronica knew she had to make a decision about Betty soon. As much as she wanted to hold onto the anger, she also missed the bond they shared.
One evening, Veronica sat down and drafted a message to Betty, her heart pounding with each word she typed.
Veronica: Hey Betty, I know we've had our differences, and things have been really tough. But I miss our friendship. Can we meet and talk?
She hesitated before hitting send, but eventually, she did. She watched the screen, waiting for a response, her heart heavy with anticipation and fear.
A few minutes later, her phone buzzed.
Betty: I miss our friendship too, Veronica. Let's talk.
Veronica felt a mixture of relief and apprehension. This was the first step toward possibly mending their broken bond. She looked over at Archie, who smiled encouragingly.
"Maybe this will be the start of something better," Veronica said, more to herself than to Archie.
Archie nodded. "One step at a time, Veronica. One step at a time."
