3rd person pov:

Eventually the campers finished their dinner and slowly walked over to the campfire not noticing the little girl and the fellow camper sitting near the campfire and whispering to each other about this and that. Almost last Annabeth came out of the dining pavilion holding hands with none other than Chris Wilson the Son of Dolos.

Percy's head snapped around as they approached the campfire sight. And his world broke in a million pieces. Hestia noticing his sudden movements followed his gaze and saw what he saw. Her head snapped back around to her nephew who was looking at the pair holding hands. His eyes weren't showing happiness anymore. There was pain. Unspeakable amounts of pain. Nothing else was visible in the once happy eyes of her nephew. Within mere seconds a happy man had broken down and his heart shattered.

Without hesitation Hestia slipped closer to Percy and embraced him in a warm hug trying to comfort him. But it didn't show any effect. He just kept staring at Annabeth and Chris Wilson.

It was then Chiron stepped forward "Campers. Tonight a visitor arrived. Many of you are already familiar with him. To the ones that are not. Treat him with respect and he will treat you equally." After a break he announced "Nico di Angelo, Son of Hades, Prince of the Underworld" Nico stepped forward scanning the campers until his gaze fell upon Annabeth and Chris. His eyes flicked to the spot Percy usually sat at to find it empty.

He then turned around to greet Lady Hestia at the campfire but what he saw caught him by surprise. He saw Hestia hugging Percy who was not even noticing that she was hugging him instead he was openly staring at Annabeth. His eyes showed betrayal and heartbreak "Fuck I should've included campfire" he mumbled to himself but Chiron heard him since he was standing right next to him. The old Centaur looked at him confused "What do you mean Nico" all Nico could answer was "Brother" and with that he vanished to appear in the Hades cabin again. He took out a box from nowhere and dropped it onto the desk in the back of the cabin.

Later that day when barely anyone was still at the campfire Percy finally managed to rip his stare away from Annabeth who was still holding hands and laughing with Chris Wilson. The name itself made his head spin. Looking around he noticed Hestia still hugging him tightly. Mumbling "please be ok" how could he. How could he ever be ok after this. He had spend months planning out perfectly how to propose to Annabeth. He had spend months on stupid little quests to prove to Athena that he was worthy.

He spend weeks on trying to get Thalia to convince the hunters to purposely capture Annabeth specifically during their capture the flag game so he could heroically rescue her gran the flag on their way out and propose the second they won.

He'd convinced Hades to allow Nico to get him the most fitting gem he could find.

All these months of preparation and suffering for this.

To be betrayed the day before it happened. "Hhh- Hestia" he stumbled. She looked up at him hopefully "Yes Perseus?" "Who is Dolos" the hopeful look turned to confusion "who?" "Dolos. He is the father of that new thing" Percy spat out. "I don't know Perseus. I've not heard that name before" Hestia's heart sank when she looked into Perseus eyes and saw something noone should ever see. "Thank you Aunt Hestia" Percy got up as there where only few campers left. Among them Clarissa La Rue and her Boyfriend Chris Rodriguez, Katie Gardener Will Solace and other campers from the days of the titan war. And of course Annabeth and Chris Wilson.

Noticing the a figure in the shadows Percy nodded towards it grimly. Nico's shoulder sank as he saw Percy nod knowing full well what he was going to do.

Getting up Percy walked towards the campers slowly. Some of them noticing him looking at him in horror as they realised what was about to happen. Before Annabeth noticed him he started speaking. "You." He stopped Annabeth and Chris stopped laughing looking at him. Her eyes opened in fear and she quickly put some distance between herself and Chris. Chris face turned from curiosity to hurt as Annabeth separated from him.

"You treacherous -" "PERCY STOP" Hestia yelled from her place at the campfire. She quickly got up running towards her nephew who turned to her just to break down on her shoulder crying. Hestia held him in a tight embrace and just glared at the 2 campers in front of her. Especially the favorite daughter of the goddess of wisdom. "You should've known better, daughter of wisdom" Hestia growled. A second later a pillar of fire erupted where she and Percy had stood and they vanished.

Chris looked at a crying Annabeth trying to comprehend what just happened before his eyes. "Annabeth what-" he didn't get further as he was interrupted by a crying daughter of Athena throwing herself against his chest looking for comfort. A shadow appeared in front of them and the Son of Dolos looked up into pitch black eyes that were looking down on the crying demigoddess in his arms. He didn't say anything but if looks could kill Chris was sure that Annabeth would've died right then and there in his arms.

Nico pov:

The next morning came and the campers slowly got into the pavilion. One by one they got their food sacrificed to their parents and sat down to eat. Everyone but one demigod. The Son of Poseidon was still missing so i decided to bring him here myself. Shadow travelling to the Poseidon Cabin I hammered against the door until a sleepy Percy with red eyes and completely messed up hair opened. "Breakfast now" I said firmly. He grumbled something in response but I just took the next best thing to throw at him which happened to be a bucket of ice cold water. I don't know whether it was the heartbreak or the sleepiness but he did not have the focus to stay dry and warm and instead was drenched with ice cold water from head to toe. That woke him up fully. Before we headed for the pavilion he freshened up a tiny bit. At least it wasn't clearly visible now that he had cried all night long.

I entered the pavilion alongside Percy and excused myself right away to go back to my place to finish my meal. As Percy was grabbing his food a demigoddess approached him. Looking back at him I saw her approach. I should've known she'd try something like this I thought to myself.

Barely audible Annabeth whispered "Percy please tell me. I'll do anything to make it up to you" I watched my best friend and brother in everything but blood stiffen "No" he coldly said before turning away from her. He made his way towards the hearth greeting Hestia before making his sacrifice to the gods. Whilst that was happening Annabeth turned around and left the pavilion. Visibly holding back her tears.

Annabeth pov:

"No" my heart sank when he said it. I was barely able to hold back my tears. When I left the pavilion and was out of sight I started running and I let my tears flow openly. I just ran away sobbing not knowing where I went. Eventually I bumped into someone. I muttered an apology not caring about who I ran into or where I was. "Annabeth?" A surprised voice came from the person I ran into. I looked at her "Thalia?" I sobbed.

"What's wrong, what happened" Thalia was looking at me worried. I knew that she was worried but I couldn't help it. All I managed to say between sobs was "Percy" to which a collective "ah" came from the hunters behind Thalia which up until now I hadn't noticed. I looked behind Thalia to see them firing looks at each other.

Thalia pov:

I couldn't believe it. Percy? Out of all people Percy would break someone's heart like this? This just wasn't right. Something was wrong and I would figure it out. But first we had a game of capture the flag to win. With the news about Percy breaking up with Annabeth in mind the hunters made their way to camp. Where Chiron announced their arrival and announced the tradition of a game of capture the flag camp vs hunters of Artemis.

A couple hours later:

Gathering around Zeus fist the hunters discussed their plans and their traps. Carefully preparing tripwires and other traps on strategic locations. A whistle was blown and the game began.

3rd person pov:

The campers were cautiously entering the territory of the hunters. Annabeth leading the strategic discussion as per usual had warned them about traps and hunters suddenly dropping out of trees to ambush campers. While she and the Athena cabin stayed back to protect their own flag Percy and the ares cabin lead the assault onto the hunters flag. As they cautiously made their way through the forest Percy suddenly stopped causing everyone behind him to stumble and barely be able to stay on foot. "Why are we stopping Prissy" Clarissa hissed. Percy just pointed ahead at a small clearing that looked like a good spot to ambush campers. "Here's the plan. I'll wrap around behind them and ambush their ambush. Wait 5 minutes after I leave and the continue. Be careful about traps"

With that he left to the side and started to make his way around the clearing carefully avoiding several tripwires and a countless number of other traps like random nets or fake floors.

As he made his way through the forest he thought to himself that he hadn't spoken to anyone really what happened and was wondering what the hunters were gonna do since he asked Thalia to capture Annabeth so he could rescue her and propose. Those plans didn't exist anymore, he thought. If the hunters capture Annabeth he wouldn't specifically go for her. He wouldn't rescue her heroically and propose after winning. Lost in thought he didn't notice the 2 hunters that had creeped up to him catching him by surprise. Quickly tying his hands together before he could even make a move. They carried him like a sack of potatoes towards the clearing where he meant to ambush the ambush. To his surprise Clarisse and the others were holding their own fighting against the hunters that had surrounded them the second they stepped foot on the clearing.

The fights shifted upon the arrival of another huntress. Wearing her signature black green day shirt Thalia Grace stepped foot on the clearing. Wielding her electric spear she ran into the battle causing the campers to lose slowly but surely.

Eventually all of them were tied up.

The 2 hunters carrying Percy threw him in line with the other campers. "Nice ambush prissy" Clarisse hissed. He looked at her "if you want someone to expect the ambush of the ambush to get ambushed you have the wrong person. Why don't you ask Miss Wisdom next time to lead the offensive with you" he coldly turned towards Thalia who witnessed the short exchange between him and Clarisse "Hi thals" he managed.

Examining him for a while Thalia looked up and down at her effectively brother. No way he broke her heart, she thought. There has to be a big misunderstanding here. At the sound of footsteps approaching from the other side of the river Thalia looked up to see Phoebe carrying the campers flag dodging the arrows of the Apollo cabin skillfully. As she jumped over the river. A horn was blown and Chiron trotted out of the forest announcing "with that the hunters of Artemis win again for the 73rd time in a row"

Thalia watched as Phoebe made her way towards the clearing. As soon as she was easily in range she asked "What are you doing Thalia let's go get away from him" eyeing Percy as she said that. Thalia swirled around to watch her cousins go from confusion to anger to heartbreak in a couple of seconds. She then turned back to Phoebe and followed her to the rest of the hunters to celebrate their victory.

The campers at the clearing freed themselves with the help of other campers. After all the campers were freed Chris Wilson walked up to Percy spitting on the floor in front of him "this is your fault" "MY FAULT?" The nearby river exploded, drenching everyone present in water. All but a few campers. Among the few campers that stayed dry were will solace, Clarisse La rue, the Stoll twins, Chiron and Nico. "Well I guess I'm not needed anymore" Percy said looking back at Chiron, Nico and the other with a sad smile on his face. A few seconds later the hero of Olympus was gone. All that was left were campers drenched in water whilst Nico looked at where Percy stood in shock.

"We're better off without that liar anyways" The son of Dolos was the first to speak. Nico was about to say something when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked around to Chiron quietly shaking his head "don't. You'll make it worse"

Percy pov:

I don't know how I did it but suddenly I appeared in the cabin I built in my bay that no one else seemed to see a faint black mist surrounding me. I felt bad for leaving Nico and the few that cared about me behind but I couldn't bear it anymore. The only reason I hadn't left before today was because I wanted to see Thalia again but after hearing what Phoebe said to her it appears they ran into Annabeth or Chris Wilson before.

As I was sitting there on the bed I made, lost in thought about what to do now that I lost everything, the black mist around me starting floating towards a chair in the room slowly forming into a humanoid being. "Who are you?" I asked. The being out of black mist chuckled "That's refreshing. Normally people fall on their knees and ask what they did for the honor of me appearing" I put a hand in my pocket grasping riptide "I won't ask again. Who are you and what are you doing here?" The figure waved her hand and I lost the grip on riptide as it suddenly appeared in her hand "a fine sword" she said examining riptide "but I'm not here for the sword. I'm here for you daughter" My face must've reflected how I felt since the person in front of me burst out in laughter. "You should see your face" she laughed. "I'm Chaos, Perseus Achilles Jackson"
