The Boy with the Mysterious Eye

Chapter 2

Lane walked a few miles before entering a building that looked like a weird pawn shop with tons of stuff on high shelves. It was like a Mega Mart for anything and everything.

"Good to see you, Lane," said a man over the counter once he looked up. "I was hoping you made it home safely."

"I did get chased but I'm fine. Still have a pulled muscle in my leg but other than that I can still work," Lane told him.

"Okay, you know what has to be done today. Just don't overdo it," said the man.

"Understood," Lane said as he went to the back of the store. He got started organizing the products that got scattered everywhere yesterday.

He got half way through the mess when a costumer came in asking the guy over the counter for something. "Oh, that's on the high shelf. Lane!"

"Aw, man," Lane groaned to himself. He walked back out in front as the guy over the counter told him what he needed to get for this costumer. "Instant coffee?" Looks over at the costumer to see that he wore a light blue blazer.

"Oh great. Wait…" Lane thought. "Okay, he gives off a girly vibe." Goes to where the instant coffee was located in the store. He climbs up the shelves to get a couple down.

Lane goes back to the front and places the items on the counter, "here."

"Uh, thanks. How'd you do that so fast?" asked the costumer.

"Uh…" Lane didn't know what to actually say.

"He's fast at climbing than most others," said the man over the counter. "Alright, here's your stuff, Haruhi. Have a good day at school."

"Thanks," Haruhi smiles and walked out of the store.

At Ouran High School, Haruhi entered the music room with the supplies. "I'm back," she said.

"Oh, Haruhi!" shouted a tall boy with blond hair as he rushed over to her, grabbing her shoulders. "Are you okay?! Did you run into any shady people?! Are you alright?!"

"Uh, Tamaki senpai, I'm fine. What's wrong with you?" Haruhi said blankly, staring at him. Tamaki just cried and hugged her. Haruhi looked to the side to see Kyoya.

"Uh, Kyoya senpai?" she asked.

"Well, to answer your question Haruhi… the area you go to – to get that instant coffee and all that, has gangs and people who wish to harm others. Specifically this one young boy that we still don't know about. Tamaki has been worried about you, Haruhi," Kyoya explained.

"Well, when isn't he?" Haruhi asked herself. "Tamaki senpai… I can't breathe," she said aloud. Tamaki released his grip on the young girl, apologizing.

"Do you know anything about this 'boy', senpai?" Haruhi asked Kyoya.

"Hm? Well, it's very hard to say right now. Other than the kid has long black hair, we don't know anything else."

"Long black hair?" Haruhi thought as she thought on it for a while.

The sun was setting on another day of work. Lane was packing up a few loose ends. But before he was able to leave for home… a few men with loaded guns came into the store demanding the manager to get his employees in a line. The manager did as the men demanded and got on the P.A.

"All employees please come to the front of the store. And please stand in a line. Again, all employees to the front in a line."

Lane sighed, knowing what was going on from the little mice that squeak to him. He and the other employees went to the front of the store and got in a line. The men with guns started going to each employee. They were clutching their hair in the back and forcing them to look up so they could see their eyes.

Lane started to sweat as the men got closer to him. "I know what they are looking for. Who, they are looking for," he thought. The leader of the men walked over to Lane and just stared at him with a wicked grin. He reached forward to move Lane's bangs so he could see his eye. "Got ya. Gold mine." Before Lane could do something to get away, the man clutched his throat and pulled him out of the line.

"No wait! Please don't. He's just a kid," the manager of the store begged. Trying to get the guy to reconsider taking Lane.

"Ha, I don't think so gramps," said the guy holding Lane's throat. "I've found what I came for. Anyone who tries to follow us will be killed on sight or better yet…" shoots the manager a few times in the chest. "Just kill them all." His men shot a rain of bullets at the other employees. Killing them instantly.

"No," Lane thought, trying to get the guy's hand off his neck. "I knew it was me they wanted but… but why did they…"

"Alright. Tie up Gold Mine here," the leader shoves Lane to his men. They grab onto him and start tying him up. Forcing his arms behind his back.

"Ah! Hey, not so tight," Lane yelped.

"Shut it. I don't want to hear a single word out of you. I just want that eye of yours," said the leader, getting in front of Lane again.

"Tsk, like I'd give my eye to anyone. You guys are jerks," Lane said as the men got done tying his wrists together. The leader slapped Lane across the face before grabbing a cloth and shoving it into Lane's mouth. Then grabbing another and tying it around his mouth so he couldn't spit it out. One of the men put a thick sack over Lane's head.

Lane just growled lightly as the men shoved him out of the store. They lead him deep into the forest. Lane had a good idea what was in store for him once they reached their destination. He didn't want to think about it right now. He tried to figure out a way to escape as they kept going, deeper into the dark, eerie forest.
