The Boy with the Mysterious Eye

Chapter 3

Haruhi was very curious about this boy, Kyoya brought up. She went back to the Mega Mart the next day to find reporters, police and paramedics everywhere. She gasps, going up to a police officer.

"Excuse me, sir. What happened here?"

"Hm? A shooting happened yesterday at closing time. That's what the paramedic said from finding out how long the manager of the store was dead for," said the police officer. "You should go back home now. You can turn on the TV to figure out more if you really want to know."

"Wait. The manager is dead?" Haruhi gasped. She looked over to an ambulance and ran over there.

"The manager and all the employees minus one are dead," said a paramedic to another.

"Yeah, that one kid isn't here. Whoever was responsible for the shooting must've took him. What was his name again?"

"Lane Hikarta, I believe. I wish there was something we could do for the poor boy," said the paramedic as he closed the doors to the ambulance.

Haruhi gasped again, remembering yesterday. Lane had brought her that instant coffee she asked for… and now he's gone. She couldn't believe it.

"Excuse me. Would you happen to know where he lived?" Haruhi asked the paramedic before he got in the front seat.

"Hm? Oh, Haruhi. I didn't see you there," said the paramedic. "Lane Hikarta, you mean?"

"Yes. Do you know where he lives?"

"Two miles that way in an orange house. He lives with two girls who were nice enough to take him in. Becky and Kana are their names."

"Thank you," Haruhi said and ran off towards the house. She wanted to know more about this.

Once she got to the house, she was out of breath. Although, she could hear voices coming from inside the orange house.

"I knew this was going to happen one day, Kana! I can't take this anymore! That boy is no longer coming to our house to stay! He's smart. Once he escapes from whoever grabbed him this time and sees his things on the porch, he'll know exactly what I'm telling him! I can't take this anymore!"

"Yeah, yeah alright sis. I'll go get his things." Haruhi knocked on the door after hearing that. Becky opened the door to see who it was.

"Can I help you?"

"Uh, well. I'm curious about Lane Hikarta. Why would someone want to abduct him?"

"Tsk, you can figure it out if you see the dumbbell alive. Good day," Becky said in a snotty way and slammed the door shut.

"Well that was rude," Haruhi thought. She left for her place. Once she got there, there was a limo parked outside and Tamaki with the twins at her door.

"Hikaru, Koaru, Tamaki senpai, what are you three doing here?" she asked up.

"Haruhi!" shouted the twins.

"Where were you, young lady?" Tamaki asked, like he was her father. All worried and protective.

"Investigating something. I'm curious about the boy Kyoya senpai told me yesterday," she explained.

"Oh, no. That stuff is for the police. Not an innocent young woman," Tamaki told her.

"Come on, Haruhi. We're going to be late for school," the twins said, taking her to the limo.

"Yeah, okay," Haruhi sighed. Her mind was on the boy and not the Host Club right now.

It's been a full two weeks and Haruhi went back to Becky's place to see if Lane picked up his stuff yet. So far, his stuff was still on the front porch in a bag.

"Oh, man. If he hasn't gotta his stuff by now… then that means… he's still with those one guys that did the shooting at the store," Haruhi thought. "I know I don't know him very well but, who wouldn't be worried about a young boy like him? Even if he is a bit taller than me."

She decided to go to school. Still dwelling on the events that happened a couple weeks ago. Not wanting to forget about it right now. It was bugging her too much. Even with Tamaki out bursting and the Host Club.

It was not until that night… that Lane finally escaped. Late at night all the forest animals stampeded through the rusted up building he was in and kept the bad guys with guns busy while the rats and mice bit through the ropes on Lane's wrists.

While the building was in chaos mode Lane thanked the animals and ran off with broken bones. He forced himself to run as far away from that building as possible.

A mare came running beside him, neighing at him. The mare could see that he couldn't run very fast with a broken leg. Lane nodded and jumped on the mare's back, grabbing her mane.

"Thank you," Lane coughed out. The mare neighed and ran out of the forest. Occasionally looking back to make sure the boy she picked up was still there on her back.

The mare ran to a huge mansion neighing franticly for someone to wake up and come out. There was a light on in a room on the second floor. The mare tried to get that person's attention.

The person came to the window to see what all the ruckus was about. He ran down the stairs and to the door. Opening it to see the mare and the boy on her back passed out and about to fall off the mare's back.

"And I've been worrying about Haruhi all this time?! This kid is in bad shape," it was Tamaki's place. He went to the mare and caught the boy as he started to fall off her back. Tamaki takes the boy inside calling for his personal doctors and all that to come to the front door immediately. He got on his cell phone calling the other Hosts and Haruhi.
