I Don't Own Naruto or Fairy Tail
Chapter 6
As everyone split up into their groups, Mira watched as Naruto took the kids to a different area with Minato, Kushina, Jiraiya, and Tsunade following them. She knew that they were going to let them play with their grandparents, and his God parents, and let her mingle with the women that were now approaching her.
He would watch while they all enjoyed themselves and talk with some of the other Shinobi's and see what has become of their world since theirs would be different than his.
An Hour Later
"I think it'd be best if we get back to the story, we can talk about more later. I'd like to know what happens next." Anko said, while she was glad to have gotten to know more about Mira and Naruto over the last hour, she wanted to know what happens next in the book.
"I'll read next." Kurotsuchi said with a grin of excitement as she opened the book to the current place.
It's been 6 years since Tenrou Island had been destroyed by Acnologia, bringing the top mages of Fairy Tail down with it.
Without its core members, Fairy Tail soon went from being the strongest Guild of Fiore to the weakest Guild. They rarely got any mission requests, only just enough to keep the guild alive. It got so bad that they lost their old guild hall to foreclosure. Then Twilight Ogre, a newer Guild of Magnolia, moved into town, forcing the remaining members of Fairy Tail to relocate to a more run down building on the outskirts of town.
Everyone frowned at that, feeling bad about what became of the guild without their strongest members.
"Wait, how did you survive if everyone was blown up on the island, including the island itself?" Minato asked with a frown and confusion visible on his features.
Naruto was about to answer the question, but he felt a hand over his mouth and found his wife was the one to stop him from answering.
"Don't tell him, I'm sure he'll get his answer if she keeps reading." Mira said, getting slow nods from everyone while Kushina was giggling behind her hand at the cute couple.
But things would soon start to change because deep underneath the sea, Tenrou Island remained unharmed, wrapped in a giant protective magic sphere with the symbol of Fairy Tail on the surface.
Inside the sphere, the core members of the Guild were sleeping, as time seemingly didn't move in there. Six years and yet they didn't age a single day, all thanks to the power of Fairy Sphere that protected them.
That explained it and everyone was in awe of the spell that not only protected them and the island, but it kept them from aging as well. It must be a strong spell to be able to protect them from a monster such as Acnologia.
"To think such a spell could be so strong." Tsunade said with wide eyes.
"I couldn't agree Lady Tsunade." Shizune muttered in agreement just as surprised as her along with everyone else except for Naruto and Mira who already knew this.
However, one mage had begun to wake up. Slowly, Naruto's eyes fluttered as he began to flex his fingers before slowly opening his eyes.
"Uh, what happened?" Naruto wondered, as light filled his eyes again. Naruto's eyes widened as he sat up, seeing not a blue sky with clouds, but a golden sphere around the entire island. He could see it was dark beyond the golden light of the sphere. He could see movement in the darkness and he couldn't tell what it was at first but he realized what it was upon closer inspection.
"Fish," He noted as schools of Mino's swam nearby. Naruto flexed his arm and felt his body, which last time he checked was still battered and broken from his fight with Acnologia, and it felt and looked good as new.
"What the hell happened?" Naruto wondered, not knowing what to think. One minute, Acnologia had fired a Dragon Roar at them, and the next moment, he found himself here.
"The Guild, where are the others!?" Naruto said out loud as he looked around but couldn't see them, worried about everyone, but mostly the Strauss siblings. He could barely sense anything, it felt like the sphere that protected them and provided light underneath the sea, was messing with his senses.
A lot of people gave Naruto knowing looks or smirks knowing he was mostly worried about the Strauss siblings. Kushina was giddy that her son cared about them so much, especially his girlfriend at the time.
"You say the guild, but you were more concerned about Mira, than even her siblings." Sakura chuckled as Mira just giggled knowingly. He sighed knowing that saying anything would be ignored.
"There." He said after some intense concentration, he locked onto Mirajane's magic, and found her a dozen or so meters to his south. She was sleeping peacefully, laying next to her siblings. Her chest rose and fell, and he could hear her breathing, which alleviated some of his concern.
"Mira, hey wake up." Naruto said, shaking her lightly, but she didn't wake.
"Why isn't she waking up though? Shouldn't she and the others be awake like you?" Minato asked them.
"It's better if you just keep reading, everything will be explained about the spell and who is responsible for this." Naruto told his father who nodded his head.
"Who?" Everyone had that question running through their minds at who Naruto was talking about.
"That's strange." Naruto heard as he turned around when he saw a young girl with wing like adornments on her head and walking around barefoot. "I didn't think anyone would be awake while the Sphere was active."
"Hey, that's the girl from earlier!" Ino pointed as an image of Mavis appeared on the screen.
"Clearly she's the one responsible for the spell since she was surprised that Naruto was somehow awake." Shikamaru said with others nodding in agreement.
"But who is she exactly is the question I think we all want answered." Choji said as they went back to the book. They would've asked Naruto or Mira, but knew they wouldn't get answers from them.
"Who are you? And where is the rest of the guild?" Naruto demanded as he tensed, ready for a fight.
"Hehe, you don't need to worry about the rest of the guild, they are perfectly fine." The young girl said with a smile as the wing like adornments on her head twitched and fluttered in an almost cute way. He then realized who this was.
"You're Mavis Vermillion, aren't you?" Naruto asked as he relaxed, "The First Master of Fairy Tail." Hades had described the First Master to him several times, before Naruto had been turned into Zancrow.
"Wait, wait hold on." Ino decided to interfere as she suddenly noticed something very strange "In the first chapter, it was stated that Makarov-san was the third master of Fairy Tail, while Mavis is the first master of Fairy Tail… then…" Everyone widened their eyes at that revelation.
"Could it be that… she's an immortal? If so, how?" Tenten asked with wide eyes along with others.
"I believe we'll find out soon enough, but this does make things interesting." Sasuke said as he was silently laughing if what he was hearing was true than Orochimaru would be more than jealous of this woman.
"Yep," Mavis said with a smile, "The others won't wake while Fairy Sphere is still active. When the dragon attacked, I was able to convert the bonds of trust and friendship everyone shared into pure magic power. Such was their bonds that Fairy Sphere was activated, 1 of the 3 Grand Fairy Spells. It is an absolute defense spell, capable of defending against all evil."
Naruto hmmed as he flexed his hand, relaxing his stance. "My wounds, I can't help but notice they've healed." He noted, as he had still been beaten up pretty bad when Acnologia unleashed his breath attack. "Did you have something to do with that?"
"While I waited for the spell to wear off, I took the liberty of fixing up the rest of your wounds. It was a brave thing you did, standing up to Acnologia for the guild." Mavis said in gratitude to him putting his life on the line for Fairy Tail.
"Thank you Mavis-san!" Kushina was grateful to the first master in healing her son.
"That was nice of her to heal you." Minato was just as grateful for her help and that she had helped his son.
"What's going to happen now that you're awake, but you can't go anywhere?" Jiraiya asked curious.
"Keep reading and you'll find out." Naruto said with a grin.
Naruto's eyes widen suddenly as he remembered the dragon and how he had almost killed him with a single blow...and what the Dragon had said to him before attempting to wipe out the island.
"…How long have we been down here?" Naruto asked with a pit of dread forming in his gut.
"Mm, time doesn't really affect us down here, but about 6 years, give or take a few days. It still has a year left before the spell will fully begin to wear off, and I will have to bring the island back to the surface." Mavis said as she thought for a minute.
"S-Six Years!?" Naruto said in complete shock. "Why has it been that long!?"
"Fairy Sphere protects those within it against all manner of things, even the ravages of time itself." Mavis said. "To those within it, only 6 minutes will have passed, but it will be 6 years in the real world."
"Wow." Tsunade breathed out in awe at what she was hearing.
"Wait, but that doesn't leave a lot of time for you to train, I wonder what you'll do." Kakashi said with interest and what his old student would go about it.
"He only has four years left to get stronger, that's not good at all." Tobirama said with a scowl on his face.
"6 years lost, and he only gave me 10 to get stronger," Naruto said as he gripped his head with worry. Even with 10 years, he felt that it would have been a stretch, getting strong enough to defeat the Black Dragon of the Apocalypse, but fucking 6 years had already been lost!? His burden just went from extremely unlikely to almost impossible.
"I know what he spoke about. And I know it seems daunting…" Mavis said but was interrupted by Naruto.
"Daunting!? He gave me 10 years to get stronger, and I've more than half the training time!" Naruto grit out, having a mini-panic attack. Acnologia taking him out with one hit was still fresh in his mind, he still remembered how his body had almost been turned into red paste by the monster.
"Would you rather that the guild and island have been wiped out instead?" Mavis questioned him quizzically.
"Of course not! Don't get the wrong idea, I'm grateful that we are all alive, but that doesn't change the fact that the task of getting strong enough to slay that monster was already going to be difficult enough, and now the task is 10 times harder with all this training time lost!" Naruto pointed out.
"You're not going to give up, are you?" Mavis asked him, knowing she was egging him on, as she wanted to see where his resolve truly was.
"Of course not! I have to get strong enough to not just defeat Acnologia, but kill him! I am burdened with this duty but it is my duty to bear! Only I have ever injured him, only I can injure him, only I can kill him! If not me, then who? Who will protect the world!? Who will protect Fiore from his wrath!? Who will protect Fairy Tail!? Who will protect Lisanna, Elfman, and Mirajane, if not me!? There is no one else to fight him, it can only be me! I don't care what price I have to pay, losing is NOT an option! I have to win! And I will win! I'm Naruto Uzumaki and I don't back down from anything! Believe it!" Naruto stated, his verbal tic coming out during his speech.
"Awe you're verbal tick is coming out again Naruto-kun, it's so cute." Mira teased much to his embarrassment, he blushed in embarrassment as everyone laughed at the blonde being teased.
"Blame her, she's the reason I even have one in the first place." Naruto pointed at his mother who gawked at the accusation and pouted.
"Hey don't blame me for it dattebane!" K.N. comically shouted with her pout growing at the flat look her son gave her.
"Be nice to baa-chan, papa or I'll kick your butt!" K.U. shouted with a glare that did nothing, but looked too cute to everyone as the women cooed at the little girl.
The redhead hugged her granddaughter and cried while thanking her repeatedly for standing up for her while giving her little kisses on her face.
Mavis smiled at his resolve. Makarov had chosen wisely to welcome Naruto into the guild, despite his troubled past. In his heart, beat the spirit of a true member of Fairy Tail. Mavis turned towards that center of the island. "Follow me." She said, with Naruto walking behind her as she floated in the northern direction of the island.
They walked for several minutes before Naruto decided to ask some of his questions. "So, how come I woke up but the others didn't?" He asked, as was one of the things confusing him.
"I believe it's because you don't bear the mark of Fairy Tail. Not yet, anyway." Mavis said after thinking about it for a minute.
"You believe? You don't sound very sure of it." Naruto noted.
"Well, to be fair, no one has ever been involved with Fairy Sphere that wasn't a member of a guild, so this is a first time this has happened, so I can only make an educated guess. Because you are awake again, time will flow normally for you again, but the others will remain asleep until the spell ends, and only another minute will have passed for them." Mavis informed him.
"Why can't I wake them up?" He wondered.
"They are essential to maintaining Fairy Sphere. If you were to wake them up now, the spell will break before it's time. I think it should be obvious what would happen next." Mavis told him.
Naruto hummed in thought, before looking at the deep ocean around them, understanding her meaning. "I don't want that to happen to any of them." Naruto said resolutely.
Everyone paled as they also made the connections themselves while others shivered at what would happen to them. They couldn't imagine waking up to suddenly drowning with the island under the ocean. That would be a horrible way to die.
"I know, and though it will be difficult, you will need to keep your distance from the others until it wears off." Mavis told him, having enough to know it would particularly hurt with him being separated from the Strauss siblings.
"So be it. There is no choice." Naruto sighed, resigned to that little fact. He had waited near a decade to see the Strauss's again. What was one more year in the grand scheme of things?
The women cooed or awed at how much devotion Naruto had for the siblings or more specifically Mira. Said woman gave her husband a sad smile seeing how much he must have felt. They had finally reunited, but he wakes up a year before everyone else and can't even be with her while she was asleep. It must've been painful for him to know he was so close to her, but had to keep his distance until the spell wore off completely. She leaned her head on his shoulder and show her support.
Mavis and Naruto kept walking, until they reached her gravestone. There, Mavis waved her hand and a square piece of stone faded away to reveal a set of stairs. Mavis floated over to the stairs and looked back at him. "This way," She said.
Naruto followed her down 10 flights of stairs, until they reached a massive cavern. Mavis waved her hand lightly, and yellow balls of light appeared all throughout the cavern, the sudden influx of light blinding Naruto for a moment. Once his vision cleared, Naruto was able to clearly see again.
The light revealed a monumental library, built mainly of stone. The columns and walls had mosaics and columns decorated with the effigy of fairies and were full of shelves filled with books and scrolls. There are also shimmering gold ornaments decorating the interior of the library. In the center of the library was a large seat of stone seats. The lights that blinded him earlier were hovering atop pedestals every 10 feet and illumination for the library.
Naruto turned back to look at Mavis. "This was here this whole time?" He asked, he didn't remember Hades ever telling him about this.
"Yep" Mavis said with that cute little smile of hers, "I know your task is perilous, so let me offer you the knowledge of Fairy Tail to aid you in your quest."
Naruto turned back to the library. There had to be thousands of tomes and scrolls here. Information that was probably lost to history. He was excited but at the same time… "Why are you offering to help me?" He wondered.
"So much a person could learn from that vast library. I'm a little jealous that I would never have the chance to read it. The knowledge you could gain would be immense." Shizune said in awe and a little jealous.
"It was a lot for sure, but it helped me prepare for what was to come when I had to face Acnologia." Naruto smiled with gratitude. He knew if it hadn't been for Mavis's help, he wouldn't have stood a chance against him.
"What was it like to have access to the library?" Tsunade asked, very curious.
"It was something to behold since I doubt I would be able to get through it all, but it was something that I won't ever forget." Naruto smiled, but it changed to him looking at them blandly when he saw some of them looking at him with hope and some had even somehow had pencils and some paper to write down. "However I won't be telling you what's in there, I promised Mavis I wouldn't reveal anything regarding the library. However, whatever the book reveals is an exception and I can't get in trouble for it." He told them who pouted, but the last bit of what he said brought some hope to those interested.
"Because while you may not bear the mark yet, in you beats the heart of a Fairy Tail Wizard. You're family, and I help those in need." Mavis said, touching Naruto with her words. "And you are right. About Acnologia. Somebody needs to become powerful enough to protect the guild from him. And the way I can ensure that, is by making sure you get strong enough to win."
"I don't even know if it's possible. Acnologia is the strongest being in the entire world. But perhaps, you might be able to." Mavis admitted, worried and skeptical but having no choice but to trust him anyway.
"Well, what are we waiting for then? There's no time to waste. Let's get started." Naruto said as he began day one of his training.
1 day Later
He had discarded his torn battle uniform from when he fought Hades, having swapped them out for a new set of clothes that he had made with Arc of Embodiment. He now wore black shinobi pants that were tucked into white shinobi tape wrapped around his shins, which were complimented by black shinobi sandals. He wore blacks shinobi tape around his forearms and fingers like Lee used to, and completed the clothing with an orange sleeveless shirt. On his left shoulder, was the number 10, signifying his center of gravity was currently under 10 times Earth's normal gravity. Before his enslavement as Zancrow, he had been training at 5 times Earth's normal gravity. He never got to advance further due to his enslavement, so he was starting here.
"To be able to move around in that kind of gravity is intense and now he's working on moving 10 times the planet's gravity is very impressive." Ay said with a smirk, already liking the kid's physical training.
"If he hadn't been enslaved and betrayed, he would've gotten stronger than he currently is. I wonder what he would've been like if he had actually gotten away from Hades?" Yugito growled, she was still upset about what happened to her fellow Jinchuriki.
Naruto began his warm-up routine, involving a 1000 push-up's, 1000 squats, and 1000 Sit ups, followed by a 10 km run around the island.
"So, I've been thinking. You have Arc of Embodiment. You were telling me about your chakra network yesterday and how you were very certain you lost it when you came to this dimension. You could use Arc of Embodiment to give yourself your chakra back, could you not?" Mavis offered as she floated nearby.
"There are a couple problems with that. First, I can create anything I want, that is true, but something intricate like an extra circulatory system needs to understood in its entirety, or something could go horribly wrong. Even IF I had paid more attention in Shinobi classes, they don't teach you the intricate workings of the chakra network until you're a medical ninja or you specialize in dealing with chakra networks, like they Hyuuga's. Second, because I don't understand much about how a chakra network works, beyond knowing how to use it, I never learned how it was routed within the human body. Trying to recreate a whole circulatory system in my body could go south easily if I run one of the paths right through an artery or vein, and then I'll slowly die of internal bleeding. And 3rd, and this is the less obvious but equally important one, I have no idea what will happen if I were to mix chakra with Magic." A sweaty Naruto pointed out as he finished his sit ups. "Simply put, the risks far outweigh any potential benefits."
Everyone that understood what he was saying couldn't help, but gulp as they wondered how dangerous that would be. To create a chakra network from nothing when he no longer had it would be impossible if not extremely dangerous. No one would be able to even know what would happen if he did attempt it. What would happen to his body?
"Please tell me, you didn't do something so dangerous that could more than likely get yourself killed." Tsunade practically begged the blonde mage who shook his head making her and others sigh in relief.
"Good, who knows what would happen to you if you tried something like that and I sure as heck don't want you trying something like that." Kushina said, narrowing her eyes at him.
"Oh he knows that it wouldn't be wise for him to try something so foolish and it had nothing to do with him knowing it wasn't a good idea. He actually tried thinking of ways to go about it, but I made sure he never attempted something so foolish, isn't that right, my dear husband?" Mira asked with a sweet smile making the guys shiver, but noticed Naruto just pinched the bridge of his nose.
1 Week later
Naruto was currently running up a tree. He made it up about 3 steps before when his foot touched the tree for the 4th time, the trunk completely blew apart and the tree fell over. Naruto jumped away to avoid the tree falling over him. As he landed, there were several felled trees behind him.
"Damn it, this was tough when I first gained magic, but I at least had it under control. My control isn't what it used to be since I got my powers back." Naruto said, as when he first got magic, he found that the same principles that applied to Chakra control in his world could be applied to Magic in this world, in that, by increasing his control over his magical energy, he could drastically reduce the amount of magic he spent on spells, allowing him to cast more spells when in a fight. Granted, that had not bothered him too much in his fight against Hades, but now that he was actually training his magic control again, he began to realize his reserves had drastically increased since he got all his magic back.
Shaking himself out of his thoughts, he prepared to perform the Tree Climb Magic Control exercise again.
"Ahh, so in response to not having Chakra anymore, he's applying the exercises in magic to learn to do it, interesting." Hashirama smiled at the dedication the young man was showing and the ingenuity.
To be able to recreate walking over surfaces and water from scratch is something only the young man sitting with them would be able to do.
1 Month Later
Naruto was in the middle of a field with a set of wooden targets around him in a perfect circle, a Devil Sword at his side, the number on his shoulder having changed to 15.
Behind him, shuriken came from all directions. In a flurry of slashes, Naruto deflected all the shuriken, as they fell harmlessly to the ground.
Suddenly, he jumped high into the air and spun, letting kunai he just created fly from his fingers. They would not have hit their targets had he not let loose other kunai, to redirect the other kunai, deflecting them off each other, which ensured the first set of kunai hit their targets. Each of his original kunai hit the targets in the wooden posts, right in the center.
"Just like Itachi was able too when he trained his shuriken jutsu. Naruto never had level of skill with his kunai before." Kakashi said with nostalgia as Sasuke nodded having seen his older brother be able to do that.
"It's impressive that he's able to pull that off. I never thought I'd see Naruto or a version of him have that much skill with a kunai like that." Sasuke agreed with his sensei.
As Naruto landed, he was assaulted by 11 enemy ninja. He deflected several slashes and pivoted on his left heel, cutting one ninja in half at the waist. He sliced the head off of another, before spinning and slicing open the throat of another. He parried a slash from one and cut off his arm, before moving him in the way of another's stab, making him take the stab in the heart. The blonde Uzumaki then cut off the head of the one who stabbed his fellow ninja. The ninja's notably, instead of bleeding like humans normally do when cut or dealt lethal blows, instead popped like balloons and in their place was puff of smoke.
Naruto then spun and ducked under a wild sword swing and pivoted until his back was against the ninja's back. He reached behind with one arm, and jerked the enemy ninja's head backwards, violently snapping his neck. Naruto let the body drop to the ground as blood pooled in the ninja's mouth, before it poofed out of existence. Naruto then stabbed another ninja in the chest before pulling it out and throwing his Devil Sword straight into the head of another ninja. Naruto then caught a sword aimed at his face between the palms of his hands before he wrenched it out of the ninja's grasp. He gripped the hilt of the blade and swung it in an arc, decapitating the 9th ninja. Naruto then parried several slashes from the final ninja before cutting open his stomach. The ninja fell to the ground but pulled himself to his feet, one hand holding his guts in. As Naruto approached, the ninja knew his fate was sealed and accepted it, bowing his head in deference. Naruto stabbed the ninja in the chest, making the ninja groan as he went poof, before Naruto pulled out the sword.
Everyone watched as he killed off each clone having come to the conclusion that he was using the Shadow Clone technique. The way he fought and killed each one made them uneasy with how brutal he killed them off, though some weren't as concerned since this was a different Naruto, but also liked how this one wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty should he need too. Minato and Kushina covered the kids eyes they were holding, but it ended up not being necessary. Naruto, anticipating this event when he saw the clones rush his younger self, had created a Kanji in front of his kids eyes and ears to block their site and hearing. Mira was giving Naruto a look that made him chuckle nervously at the look she was giving him.
"He's so brutal unlike our Naruto who'd never kill anyone. It's just not in him to do something like that." Kiba said with surprise at seeing this Naruto not even bothered with butchering them even if they were clones.
"It certainly is different, but we have to remember that this Naruto has experienced different things than the one we know and so it's only logical that he'd be different." Hiruzen said with a sigh not sure if he liked how ruthless this Naruto could be compared to the one in his dimension.
Everyone agreed with that statement and went back to the viewing screen, though Mira was still staring at her husband.
Mira looked at her husband, who looked back. "You're seeing what was til now something only I remember. How I trained was nobody's business but mine. I certainly wasn't going get strong enough to beat Acnologia by playing patty-cake with my clones."
"Besides," Naruto said to Mira as he turned back to the screen. "You've seen worse than this, Mira. This is quite tame, in comparison. I ain't going to apologize for how I was trained since it helped me become stronger and a better mage." Mira nodded, knowing what he was talking about, which left the rest of the viewers baffled and confused.
"So glad I figured out how to recreate the Shadow Clone jutsu using Arc of Embodiment," Naruto said to himself.
With the final clone, he delivered a swift kick to the clone, with the clone raising it's arm in defense, though it's defense collapsed against the real one's attack, and poofed out of existence.
"Ow, I hit harder than I thought." Naruto said absent-mindedly as he rubbed his arm, coincidentally being the same spot where he had hit his last clone. He walked for a moment until he stopped and realized something. How would he know what his clone just felt? He then began to think back to the time he first learned the Shadow Clone Jutsu. He remembered absent-mindedly skimming over one of the lines of text that said that the clone shared it's memories with other clones and the original maker upon dispersal.
"That's another thing that's different between you and the Naruto we know." Kakashi said with Naruto and Mira looking at him in confusion.
"What do you mean?" Naruto asked with a raised brow at the copy ninja.
"You were younger when you learned about the secret to the Shadow Clone Jutsu when you were completing the Rasengan. Although unlike you, he was told about it instead of discovering it himself like you did." Kakashi said as Naruto nodded at the explanation.
"With this new revelation, I wonder what you'll be able to accomplish since you can speed up your training if your magic reserves are anything like your chakra reserves?" Kurotsuchi asked with a hum as everyone nodded and became excited to see how much he'll grow in the year.
Naruto made two more clones. "Go over there behind the bushes and play a game of rock paper scissors. Whoever loses has to dispel." Naruto ordered and the clones nodded, walking away. A minute later, Naruto heard a poof and he got memories of the one that dispersed, who lost when he chose paper and the other clone used scissors.
"Did you get all that, boss?" The Clone said.
"Yeah, I got all of it. It's just…" Naruto trailed off.
"What?" The clone asked as Naruto was in deep thought.
"…How come this never happened before? I've dispersed more than a couple thousand clones in the year I was a shinobi, this memory feedback never happened before." Naruto pointed out. Given all the clones he had used before, this should have happened at least once while he was a shinobi. Why did using magic as the source for the spell/jutsu make it work the way it was supposed to, apparently?
"Maybe it had something to do with the Fox. He could have been filtering out all the memories." The clone offered up.
"Maybe so." Naruto said, wondering if the Nine Tails had filtered out the memories of the clones for Naruto so his brain didn't explode from surges of sensory and information overload. "Still, if that's not gonna happen anymore, better keep it to a max of 20 so I don't accidentally turn my brain to mush from the sensory and knowledge overload."
Everyone had to wince as that would have sucked if that had happened. At least this Naruto is more careful and less of an idiot than the one they know. Their Naruto would produce hundreds of clones to train and he'd dispel them all at the same time and probably knock himself out if not destroy his mind.
He created 8 more Shadow Clones and gave them orders. "Figure out how to recreate Rasengan using Magic. I've got some laps to run." Naruto told them, to the salute of the clones.
2 months later
Naruto stood in a field, with a number of wooden posts for targets for him. The number on his left shoulder was now 20.
Naruto pulled his arm back, black flames gathering in condensing around his fist. "Flame God's Explosive Flame!" Naruto said and with a punching motion, unleashing a black fireball that hit some of the targets and exploded.
Naruto turned sharply 90 degree's, and clapped his hands together. "Giant Vortex!" A violent stream of water rose quickly from the ground and spun in a circle in front of his body, before shooting forward in a tidal wave-like column of water and destroying a quarter of the targets.
"Earth Stone Spears!" He shouted as stone spears erupted from the ground to stab some of the wooden posts.
"Great Devastation!" Naruto shouted as he held his hand out to his side, unleashing violent gust of air that blasted the wooden posts out of the ground and into the air.
"That was quite impressive." Mavis said as she floated nearby. "You already learned the basics of the other 3 elements you were lacking and made brand-new spells for them."
"I have a lot of inspiration to draw on, admittedly." Naruto said, as he had all of the jutsu he had ever witnessed to use as the basis for creating new spells.
"So he's taking what he's seen in our world and using that to create spells in the other elements, very good." Mei said with a nod as she thought it was ingenious.
"And not only creative, but also gave him a lot to use for himself." Yugito was just as impressed as she wouldn't have thought of doing that.
"Anyway, you've mastered the basics. You're now ready to begin learning that spell we talked about." Mavis said with a serious look. "Remember, I'm only going to teach the theory of it, I don't want you casting this while Fairy Sphere is active."
"You don't need to tell me, I'm well aware that casting Abyss Break inside of this sphere would be catastrophic. But it will still be good to have a Spell of Mass Destruction in my back pocket for when I go up against Acnologia again." Naruto told her with a nod.
"Good," Mavis nodded, before she started her explanation, "The next step to learning Abyss Break is…"
"What's Abyss Break?" Minato asked his son who was looking whether to tell them or not.
It wasn't Naruto that answered, but Mira instead. "Abyss Break is the combination of elements consisting of wind, water, earth, and fire, or any other appropriate derivatives of the aforementioned elemental magic. Uniquely, the spell absolutely requires the use of a magical circle, which is later seen as the four different magic are actually embedded into the said magical circle. Whilst the exact magnitude of the spell varies depending on the amount of magical power within it, it may be theorized that the functionality of the spell works akin to that of a Unison Raid. Albeit, if one employs it by oneself, it can be called a "Self" Unison Raid; additionally, adhering to the Unison Raid his spell can be employed by four different users or a single user with mastery over the four elemental types." She explained as everyone was impressed with the spell and what could it do if it was used. Not only that, but her knowledge was pretty detailed.
"Hehe, that's my wife for you. She's smart that's for sure." Naruto smirked smugly at seeing the jealous looks he got from some of the men while Mira giggled into her hand at her husband's antics.
"Oh, my daughter-in-law is not only beautiful, but is also smart too. He definitely picked after you dear." Kushina gushed and smiled at the young parents. Minato nodded in agreement and had a smirk of pride on his face for his son, but also sorry since she could somehow emit an aura that's just as scary as Kushina.
"Scary." Minato thought to himself with a shudder.
4th Month
"You should take a minute to relax. You've been pushing yourself really hard lately." Mavis said as she floated above Naruto.
"I'll…relax…when Acnologia…is dead." Naruto gritted out as he struggled to force out his last set of push ups for the day.
"You'll burn yourself out if you keep pushing yourself with this much intensity without any sort of break." Mavis offered but Naruto wasn't having none of it.
"She's right son, you can't be burning yourself out like that. You won't be doing anyone any good if you hurt yourself because you pushed yourself too hard." Minato said, though it sounded more like he was scolding him with the way he was looking at his son his eyes narrowed.
"He's never been one to sit still, so I'm not too surprised he's working too hard. Naruto doesn't know the meaning of the word rest." Jiraiya bellowed with a laugh with others that knew Naruto well nodded with their own smirks or giggles. Naruto pouted and quickly changed to an air of depression when he saw his wife and children nodded in agreement.
"My own family thinks that of me." Naruto muttered with a rain cloud appearing above his head showing how depressed he was.
"I don't have the luxury of taking a fucking break. The fate of world is literally resting on my shoulders." Naruto grunted out rudely as sweat poured all over his brow.
"Besides, you know as much as I do how lucky Fairy Tail got with Acnologia. This is the same dragon that genocided all of dragon kind. I can't imagine he wouldn't have been interested in finishing the job. They were just lucky that he was either more interested in me or wasn't really in the mood for killing dragon kin." Naruto said. "You and I both know if I don't win, your dragon slayers are toast. Natsu, Gajeel, and the kid. All the Dragon slayers are as good as dead." At that, Mavis didn't really have a retort. Because she knew he was right on that point.
"..."
"..."
"..."
"WHAT?!" Everyone said though it wasn't loud enough to upset the kids knowing that Naruto and Mira would not be happy with them.
"He killed all of the dragons? His own kind?" Matatabi asked with wide eyes at what she heard and no one could blame the two tailed cat for being horrified as everyone else was like her.
"How could he kill off his entire race?" Mei asked with rage in her tone, clenching her fists tightly as they started turning white. And why shouldn't she, it reminded her of how the civil war and how they're entire village had been nearly wiped out at one point by one of their own mist Shinobi.
"It's what he does. He doesn't care who you are or what you are. All he cares about is causing destruction and killing. He wouldn't care if the entire world was destroyed, it wouldn't matter to him as long as he gets to do it." Naruto said with a serious expression as some shivered at his words.
"He's insane. Why did he do it?" Kushina was just as frightened and angered that a dragon woul kill off every one of its race.
"If I say too much, I'll spoil it. But let me say this, he had his reasons, and while I don't condone them, I understand the reason for them." Naruto said with a sad smile.
No one had an answer as they couldn't comprehend at what could possibly be the reason for the destruction of an entire race. What sort of reason could have been for one to nearly kill off his own race like that?
"Now, I may not care for the other Dragon Slayers, but Gajeel deserves a chance to fully turn his life around. Natsu is basically like I used to be and deserves to live a happy life. And Wendy is a good kid with a kind heart. You think I want their blood on my hands because I decided to relax instead of making sure I can protect them?" Naruto questioned Mavis, giving her an intense look. Knowing her point of view was falling on deaf ears, she decided to not say anything more and let him continue training.
'I'm starting to stall out on this level of increased gravity, it's becoming too easy. I'll need to up it again soon.' Naruto thought as he continued with his sets, the trauma from Acnologia nearly killing him and the all-encompassing desire to protect his new family driving him to keep going, to keep pushing his limits, no matter what.
'I can't stop. I have to keep growing.' Naruto thought to himself darkly as sweat poured down his brow. 'I need more POWER!'
"Power huh?" Sasuke whispered, where only Sakura who was next to him heard and sighed sadly. "What will you do to achieve power Naruto? What will you cast aside to get it?" He asked mentally while folding his arms over his chest, staring at the screen intently waiting for what would happen next.
Month 5
It quiet on this day of training, or as quiet as it could be when you are underwater.
The sounds of clashing could be heard inside the Fairy Sphere as a thick mist enveloped the area where Naruto was training. Naruto stood in the middle of that, a Devil Sword clasped in his right hand, the number on his left shoulder at 25.
For many moments, he remained perfectly still. Then all of a sudden, he sharply pivoted, blocking a strike from a large cleaver blade. "You're going to have to do better than that, Zabuza." Naruto commented, as the mist faded some to reveal the Demon of the Hidden Mist.
"Zabuza?" Kakashi asked with his eyebrow raised.
"I don't think that's Zabuza, but a clone or created using his Arc of Creation Embodiment magic to make it a challenge for him." Shizune said, hand on her chin as the others agreed though some thought it was just a clone.
"Gragh!" came a voice from above him as a large appendage came towards him.
"Bleve!" Naruto said as several sparkles appeared above his head, before hitting the copy of semi-Shukaku possessed Gaara with a blast of explosive energy, knocking him back in the air.
"Gaara too!" Temari said in surprise, not having expected her brother to be included in this training session..
"Naruto!" Came Sasuke's voice directly behind him in his Curse Mark Level 2 state, running at him with a dark Chidori, the same one that he had clashed with before arriving in this universe. Naruto broke the power struggle with Zabuza and kicked him in the chest, sending him flying. He turned, forming a Rasengan in his hand, meeting the Chidori head on.
The two techniques collided, eerily recreating the scene from his childhood, with both struggling for dominance as shockwaves emanated from their struggle. However, this wasn't his childhood, where they had been evenly matched. Naruto pumped more magic into the spell, turning the Rasengan into a Giant Rasengan, which overpowered the unnatural Chidori and slammed into the clone of Sasuke, destroying its body.
Naruto surveyed the downed copies of his former foes and friends with a look of disappointment and frustration. This just wasn't doing it for him anymore. These copies couldn't make him work up a sweat, much less warm him up. Granted, with Zabuza, he had only fought a Water Clone back in the old universe, but since those start with 1/10th of the strength of the original, he used that as the base and tenfolded the strength, speed, and aggression. It was a challenge at first, but it was too easy now. He needed some way to push himself and keep progressing.
A metaphorical lightbulb went off in his head as he got an idea and waved his hand. Sasuke, Gaara and Zabuza were all dispelled as Naruto created a copy of Lee.
"Reporting for duty, sir!" the Lee Copy said with an enthusiastic salute.
Everyone groaned at the copy of the taijutsu expert, knowing he was exactly like his master. Lee meanwhile ignored all the groaning and complaints while he stared intently at the screen in excitement wondering what he'd have the copy of himself do.
"Okay Lee. Here's the deal. I need a proper opponent to push me so I can keep progressing. I already took the liberty of spawning you without your ankle weights on. I want you to open the first 3 Gates and come at me hard." Naruto said.
"Yes Sir!" Lee's copy said as he got into a stance. "First Gate, Gate of Opening, OPEN! Second Gate, Gate of Healing, Open! 3rd Gate, Gate of Life, Open!" Lee's shout accompanied by his skin turning red and gaining his green aura. He crouched down and with a burst of speed, shot forward destroying the ground as he ran, punching Naruto in the stomach. Naruto gasped as the wind was knocked out of him. He was sent flying but managed to recover in mid-air, flipping and landing on his feet. He pulled himself to his feet, wiping the blood on his lips away.
"Yes, this is the kind of challenge I need!" Naruto said excitedly as he reduced his Gravity resistance on himself to 5. The mage and fighter roared and clashed with each other, creating a shockwave.
"Jeez, he really did want a challenge, to have it open all three gates on him isn't going to be easy, but is also going to push him." Kakashi said with a grimace.
"YOUTH!" Lee and Gai couldn't hold it in anymore and shouted in their usual enthusiastic selves. The kids looked around where the voices came from and made their thoughts known about it.
"They're weird." K.U., G.U., and Griselda said at the same time making everyone break out into laughter as the duo mentioned just took it in stride and grinned with their teeth showing.
6th month
Naruto was gazing at his hand, his brow furrowed as he concentrated and created a Rasengan in his palm a moment later.
With a sudden movement, he thrust his Rasengan into a nearby rock formation, destroying it completely. As the dust settled, Naruto gazed at the destroyed formation, quite pleased that the magic version of his Jutsu was just as good as the chakra version.
Still…
"I wonder," Naruto pondered to himself as he created another one in his left hand. Then, he covered his right hand with his god slaying black flames. Slowly, he brought his hands together. The black flames touched the Rasengan and were blasted away. Concentrating harder, veins becoming visible on his arms and his forehead, he willed his black flames to join with the Rasengan. For a moment, the flames spun around the blue orb in sync with it's spinning.
"Interesting, it looks like he's trying to combine his god slayer flames with the Rasengan instead of using his wind affinity." Minato was very interested in what the outcome would be and turned towards him. "Did you do it?" He asked, but was disappointed when he just shrugged his shoulders in response much to Kushina's and Mira's amusement by their giggling.
And then…
BOOM
Naruto was blown back several feet as the two magic energies destabilized and exploded.
"That is going to be harder than I thought." Naruto said as he dusted himself off. "But I was able to combine them for a moment. So that means it is possible to add elements to the Rasengan."
7th Month
"Come Forth, Master of the Grimoire Heart, Hades!" Naruto intoned as his hands glowed and perfect copy of Master Hades was created. A perfect copy, except for one thing.
"Why does his magic feel so weak?" Mavis wondered outloud from the tree branch she was sitting on nearby.
"Because this is him as he truly was, without the enhancement he got from his Devil's Heart." Naruto said, making Mavis blink, as she was unaware of what he was talking.
"Devil's Heart?" She asked, making Naruto turn to her.
"As you know, Hades was one of the original founders of Fairy Tail, and he was the eldest of your pals when it was founded more than a century ago. Hades was over 120 years old when I killed him, yet he looked no older than early 80's and fought like a man still in his prime. There is a reason for that." Naruto began as Mavis listened, as he created a shimmering image of the device he was talking about, showing the purple heart that used to be on the airship of Grimoire Heart.
"On board of his ship, there was a special device he called the Devil's Heart. It was the actually the heart of a Greater Demon that he had killed in the past, and he kept it's heart and demonic blood pumping using the ship. He had a direct link between his own heart and the Devil's Heart, and it granted him his immense durability, strength and unnatural vitality despite being so old. It also supplemented his Magic Power and allowed him to have access to the Devil's Eye. Without that, Natsu, Gray or Erza alone probably would have been enough to defeat him. Without the heart, his abilities would have been cut to a 1/10th of what they were with it."
"..."
"..."
"Eh?!" Everyone shouted once they processed why they heard about Hades and how old he was, but also that he enhanced himself with the Devil's Eye.
"He prolonged his life by using the heart of a demon." Tsunade said with a look of horror.
"That's insane." Were one of the several words to describe Hades.
"He wouldn't have been as much of a challenge as he was if he hadn't had that then. I would've loved to have seen one of them kick his ass!" Kushina shouted with a fist pump in the air.
"Mom, dad, what's ass?" Naruto sighed when he heard his oldest son ask that. This wasn't going to be good.
Suddenly a heavy presence could be felt in the air and when everyone looked at where it was coming from, they like Naruto grew scared. And the reason for their terrified expressions, Mira had a purple aura surround her, but unlike last time when she was giving them a smile, she had a glare on her face that had many of them cowering, even ones like Tsunade, Mei, Ay, Minato, and Onooki were terrified. Hell, even Kurama and all the Biju were looking nervous also were impressed.
"Oh, Kushina-san, did you just swear in front of my children?" Mira asked with her blue eyes darkening making the redhead shiver at the look she was getting and she was sweating.
"I take it back, she's worse than Kushina!" The thought went through several heads such as Minato, Kakashi, Jiraiya, Tsunade, etc.
"uh...no?" She asked nervously and it didn't help when her glare didn't lessen.
Mira calmly stood up and put Makarov in her husband's arms who didn't say a word knowing it would only land him in trouble as he watched his wife make her way to the redheaded mother. When she got there, she took G.U. and gave him to Tsunade. She quickly grabbed Kushina's hand and pulled her towards a door that appeared making the model smile in appreciation. They went inside and it wasn't long before the shouting started happening and heard screaming from Kushina who was trying to apologize, but the takeover mage wasn't having it and was going to punish her mother-in-law.
Minato gulped and looked over at his son who didn't even look the least bit worried because he was chuckling. CHUCKLING! He had a fond smile on his face making the fourth hokage even more nervous.
"You have one hell of a wife Naruto-kun and I don't know whether to be proud or terrified that she can even put the fear of God into Kushina of all people." Minato thought to himself.
"I think it would be best if we kept reading, they may be gone for awhile." Naruto said and they nodded slowly.
In fact, when we fought, that was the only part of the ship that survived when I activated my God Force. I had a whole array of Bomb Solid Script's ready to destroy the heart if I felt it was needed." Naruto revealed, surprising Mavis.
"Why didn't you destroy the heart from the start? It would have made your fight much easier." Mavis said.
"Because it wouldn't have been a clean win. When I came out of my mental enslavement, the only thing that I wanted…was revenge. I wanted the chance to kill him at his absolute best. I wasn't fool enough to not have a contingency in the event he was too much, but that contingency was not needed." Naruto revealed.
"I'd say he got his revenge, but he didn't put anyone at risk or throw away anyone. I'd say he was the better man than me." Sasuke whispered to himself and a small smile appeared on his face, proud of his friend not letting it drive him to push his loved ones away to get it. He put them first and still got what he wanted in the end.
Not long after that did Mira and Kushina come back who looked like she just got done fighting Kurama all by herself with all the tears she had in her clothes, the cuts and bruises she had over her body. Mira plopped her down back in her seat before going back to her seat by her husband and just smiled sweetly at him. He sighed and gave his mother a wince at her condition.
8th Month
Naruto was training, spending all day in God Force, so he could get used to the form and it would be natural for him to be in this state, so it wasn't a drain on his magic reserves. The biggest downside to God Force is the drain on his Magic Power, even with his vast reserves and his improving his control to grant him initially a 30-minute time limit in the state, that simply wasn't long enough, especially if he got into multiple fights throughout the day. By conditioning himself to remain in God Force for extended periods of time, he can desensitize himself to the negative side-effects of the transformation, i.e., the drain on his magic, til he reached the point where the drain was basically non-existent. He would then be able to maintain the form indefinitely. Once it was to that level of control, he would be able to devote the maximum amount of Magic Energy to his attacks, not have to split his attention while maintaining the transformation.
Still, he had only just started trying this a week ago, so he had only gotten another 45 minutes out of the transformation, before he ran out of a sufficient amount of Magic to maintain it. But he was getting there. He suspected by the start of the 11th month, he would be able to maintain God Force for a full 24 hours, at which point, he should be able to drastically increase it beyond that point.
Everyone except for Naruto who had a smirk on his face was in awe of his goal and what he's wanting to achieve. His kids all had stars in their eyes and were looking at their dad in awe and admiration making Mira giggle at her kids. She loved how they were acting. Not a single word was said.
"Not much more I can do with this today." Naruto said as he exited God Force.
"Hey Naruto, come join me by the campfire and relax some." Mavis offered.
"Are we really gonna bring this up again? While I appreciate the offer to sit and chat, I'm really not in the mood, Mavis-sensei." Naruto said, sort of apologetically, as he understood Mavis was trying to foster a friendship with him, but he would rather focus on the important stuff, like getting stronger.
"You've been training at an insane level nonstop for 8 months. And your clones are working on ideas for new spells, battle strategies, and tactics while you sleep. Would it really hurt to relax for a few minutes?" Mavis offered him.
Naruto took a breath, as he had a feeling that Mavis was not going to let up about this. And really, she had him there. After 8 months of non-stop training, a few minutes of downtime…wouldn't hurt. "Sure. Why the hell not?" Naruto said as he followed Mavis.
Later
Naruto and Mavis were sitting in front of a fire, burning Marshmallows.
"Wah," Mavis said happily as she took a bite out of her marshallow. "This is just as I remember it".
Meanwhile, Naruto looked at her with a funny look on his face. 'I mean, she is a spirit, so how is she able to eat food,' he thought to himself, with a bit of a sweat drop on his brow. 'It does not make much sense.'
This made everyone sweatdrop as they could only imagine how ridiculous that indeed did sound and it only got stranger when the screen showed her eating the marshmallow made it even crazier.
"You know he has a point, how is she doing that if she's a spirit?" Fu asked, but got no response as everyone was dumbfounded by what was happening.
'Still,' he thought as he took his burnt marshmallow and ate some it, enjoying it as it melted in his mouth. 'I do see the appeal to doing this.'
The two mages sat in silence for a while, just sitting there, eating marshmallows, before Mavis said something. "I'm glad you decided to finally join me after a long day, Naruto."
"Well, Sensei, you did have the right of it that I have been working my ass off. A little downtime might be good for me." Naruto said with a bit of a smile.
"I was just worried with how focused you were on gaining the strength you needed, you were gonna end up like that Sasuke person you were always telling me about." Mavis said. And at that, Naruto's gaze gained a bit of a hardness to it as he stared into the flames.
He stayed silent for several minutes, which made Mavis a bit nervous, thinking she had said something wrong. Finally, he broke the silence and spoke. "You really shouldn't have said that," he said. "Sasuke and I are nothing alike."
"Sasuke and I, we come from 2 different worlds. See, he had everything growing up. A father that could take pride in his son's accomplishments, a mother to care for him when he needed it, an older brother to look up to and aspire to be like, at least until that brother went and killed off the whole family." Naruto explained.
"And even after that, he still was the most talented of the class, and the whole village wanted to help him in some way. I never had that. I've told you how they treated me before, I don't need to rehash that. But the point is, he had everything I didn't have. And the moment he runs into the slightest bit of trouble, he abandons everything he had, everything that he had been freely given that I had to struggle for to even earn a fraction of, for a bastard that just wanted to possess his body."
Sasuke didn't say anything, but lowered his head in shame while Sakura rubbed his back, hoping to comfort him. When it was all thrown at him like this, it made him feel like trash and didn't help that what was all being said was true. He had been given everything and had a family that loved him. Even after the massacre happened, the village gave him everything he wanted and spoiled him with teachers, and really anything to help him, he didn't care about them. The sad thing is, Naruto is right, as soon as he felt inferior and that he had some trouble, he ran away like a rat.
Those from Konoha being reminded of how they treated Naruto lowered their heads in shame knowing they were part of the cause for how he had been treated. It didn't help that said person's parents were getting angrier the more they heard had what the village they gave their lives. And this is how they treat their son for keeping them alive? A silent amount of killer intent filled the room making it feel heavy.
A large and heavy intent filled the room overshadowing what Minato and Kushina began pouring out, but was abruptly stopped. "Everyone, please calm down." It was all shattered from Mira's voice who was calm, but had a commanding tone in her voice. While she was angry at hearing how her beloveds former village had treated him, she didn't want all this negativity being thrown around with the kids present. Minato and Kushina saw that she was looking at them and than gestured to the kids who were feeling uncomfortable by what they were feeling. They took deep breaths and lowered their killer intent making the kids feel much better and she nodded at them in gratitude. "Let's keep going, I'm sure everyone wants to finish this and not think about it anymore." She said in finality silencing any further debates as they went back to the book.
"So, that's why being compared to him bothers you." Mavis whispered as she understood Naruto, to a certain extent, hated Sasuke for how he threw away everything he had and betrayed everyone that he professed to care about.
"It's a couple of reasons. He had everything I ever wanted from my home, and he still threw it all away. It's also the fact that he shoved a hand covered in lightning through my chest to gain the same power his brother had." Naruto said with a bitter tone.
"So, I take it you don't consider him your friend." Mavis asked, making Naruto look at her with raised eyebrows.
"Why the hell would I?" Naruto asked. "I mean, sure. Back then, I considered him my friend. But while I've been in this dimension and even more so while I was imprisoned inside the Zancrow personality, I had nothing to do between watching my life through a lens but to think. And at some point during all that thinking, I realized something. Sasuke was NEVER my friend."
"After all, real friends don't try to kill each other for power to kill their brother. I made better friends out of Haku and Gaara, both of them being my enemies. Haku could have easily killed me before I accessed the Kyuubi's chakra that first time had he been more cold-hearted and Gaara was kind of insane before I knocked some sense into him. But it also wasn't really his fault, the fault in how he turned out when I first met him lays with his father."
"If I regret somethings about being in this dimension instead of my original, it's that I couldn't save Haku, who was my first real friend, and I didn't realize how much of friend Gaara was until it was too late. Whatever has happened to him, I hope he has achieved everything he wanted in life." Naruto said as he looked away from the fire and looked to the sky with a wistful look on his face.
Those words again made Sasuke wince. He didn't know what to think, but hearing this Naruto not consider him a friend let alone his best friend did nothing to help his already self loathing. He felt even worse than before which he didn't think was possible.
G.S. had a small, barely noticeable smile, but it was still there nonetheless glad that even in another world, his friend still thought about him and considered him his friend. They were brothers in everything, but blood and glanced at the Naruto in the room with him and his smile grew a little at seeing him interact with his kids. He also noticed how close his sister seemed to have gotten with Mira and chuckled knowing what that was about. He actually approved of it even if there were others that showed affection as well for the God slayer. For now though, he turned back towards the screen to keep watching.
Mavis stayed silent as Naruto continued, "To get back on track though, Sasuke may have been a good kid at one point, but his brother fucked him up beyond all repair. He became an ungrateful, spoiled, egotistical maniac. He betrayed and tried to murder the people he professes to care about, while I would given everything to protect them had they only given me a fraction of what they gave him. I don't betray the people I love for power. "
That was something that all the Konoha nin could agree with since he used Tsukiyomi on him during the massacre. It's no wonder he turned out the way he did with how fucked up he became. Itachi went a little too far to get him to want to kill him.
"That is the difference between us. The only way he could have ever been redeemed, was if I had never given up on him. And I've long since given up on him." Naruto said with a finality in his tone.
"I understand how you feel, but you mustn't forget why you are training to beat Acnologia. You can't forget to live, else what will you have left whether you win or lose?" Mavis told him and Naruto didn't really have a retort. She had him there.
They say sat in silence for a few moments, before Naruto a gained thankful look on his face. "Thanks for this, Mavis-sensei. I did really need this." Naruto said as he ate some more marshmallow as he enjoyed what was left of the first, and only break he would take in the time he had left.
9th Month
"I wish to learn your grand Fairy spells, Mavis." Naruto said to her one day in the 9th month after finishing the usual routine he did. "While Abyss Break is great and all, it would be good to be able to understand the others."
"Why do you want to know all 3? Usually, members of Fairy Tail only learn 1 of them." Mavis said.
"Hades used Fairy Glitter as the basis for his Devil's Imperium and that spell seriously injured me. And having an ultimate defense spell and a deterrent spell should be self-explanatory." Naruto said.
Mavis thought about it, and he did have a point. And if she taught him herself, there would be little to no risk of him suffering the nasty side effects she suffered when she first was figuring out how to create Fairy Law.
"Very Well, then. We'll start with the easiest to learn. The first step to learning Fairy Law is…" She trailed off as she explained the first step to learning the Fairy's ultimate deterrent spell.
"You know those spells?!" Several people shouted and looked at the blonde mage who didn't respond, but smirk at them which told them everything they needed to know. Kushina had an excited gleam in her eyes at this bit and wanted to know what else her son knew.
"You have to teach me boss!" Konohamaru said with a large grin on his face, but it quickly changed to a pout when Naruto shook his head.
"I can't, I promised Mavis I wouldn't share the spells with anyone and to keep it to myself. I just can't since usually only the guildmaster is the only one who should know them or at least one of them." Naruto said making the teen grumble, but everyone understood the reasoning. They're spells only selected individuals are allowed to learn.
11th month
Naruto was in a seated position, his eyes closed as he was concentrating, the number on his shoulder signifying his level of Gravity resistance was now at 50. Feeling the warmth on the sun on his face, down here at least, was difficult, but some sunlight was able to get through the water.
After months of struggling to learn this on hard mode, he could now safely say he had at least learned the ability to absorb fire and heat from other sources. He knew it was working because his magic was being replenished at a faster rate than when he wasn't using it.
"Amazing, to be able to absorb heat from the sun itself through the water shows how much in tune with fire he is." Minato said in awe while Kushina had healed most of her injuries was just as proud and in awe of him.
"Imagine if he could absorb heat without the water in the way or if he could get close to the sun to get its power." Tsunade said getting everyone to have wide eyes at that possibility.
That would make him a literal sun god if he could take directly from the source itself. No one would be able to match his prowess in flames. That made everyone shudder a bit at the amount of power he would have at his disposal.
"There isn't much more I can do with this right now. The sphere is blocking most of the sunlight that is getting through the water. I'll have to continue this when we resurface." Naruto said to himself as he finished absorbing the sunlight.
Now it was time to work on the other idea he had. With a shout, he released a tremendous amount of black flames, shooting up in a large pillar around him and then outward along the ground from him in all directions.
After a few moments, he poured all of his concentration into his right hand, a hilt of a sword forming within it. A glowing white blade took shape, as the tremendous volume of flames he released started to be absorbed into the blade. For 5 minutes this process continued, until finally, all the flames were absorbed.
In the middle of the burned and charred area of the island, Naruto opened his eyes to gaze at the weapon. In his right hand now, was a katana, with a dark purple handle, a circular bronze handguard, and a brown sheath.
Naruto marveled at the weapon he had just created, pondering on what to name it, before settling on a name. "I think I'll call you…Ryujin Jakka."
"You know, I could teach you what I know about Uzumaki Kenjutsu if you want." Kushina offered and became excited when her son nodded with a smile. She couldn't wait for the chapter to be over, so she could start teaching him.
Mira smiled at her mother-in-law, happy that they're bonding and wondered if she could learn anything from the woman or her father-in-law for that matter. She'd ask them about it after the chapter.
12th month
Naruto was seated once more in a meditative stance, this time surrounded by thick green tree's growing in an arc around him.
"I've worked hard on Great Tree Arc. I've long been past the point where if I overuse it, I could turn into a tree. But the point between intermediate level and master is a wide gap. It took a while, but I've finally gotten here." Naruto said as he concentrated, drawing in the power of nature into him through the trees.
Slowly, a bright green pigmentation formed around his eyes, extending slowly to his ears. He gained 3 slash-like marks on each cheek where his whisker's used to be, as well as a round marking in the center of his fore-head with a dot in the center. Opening his eyes, the irises were now yellow.
"Great Tree Sage Mode." Naruto stated as he entered the penta-ultimate state that Great Tree Arc masters can utilize.
"Sage mode!?" Jiraiya and Hashirama shouted as they looked at Naruto with ecstatic looks. Naruto saw their looks and it made him wonder what got them so excited.
"How do you know Sage Mode? I thought you could only learn it from a summons." Jiraiya said in shock with Hashirama nodding in agreement since it's how he learned it.
"I didn't learn it from a summons if that's what you're thinking. Just keep reading and you'll get your answers." Naruto said, making them pout. They wanted to know damnit!
"Hmm, that took too long to enter the state. I won't be able to use it effectively if I can't enter the state within a second during a fight. I'll need to devote this month to mastering this powered up form and getting the time to enter it down. There isn't much more time before the island will need to resurface." Naruto said as he stood up and started practicing his kata's.
The Final Day
Naruto had grown over the past year in his training and his outfit was different as well. Still sporting the hairstyle Zancrow had, he now wore a snow white, long sleeved kimono on his upper body that were tucked into black arm guards of some kind(Same style that Zancrow had worn), a red sash holding it tight at the waist, with black shinobi pants tucked into shinobi sandals that were similar to the ones Tobirama Senju had worn when he donned his battle armor. By his side was a simple wooden staff that was as tall as his body.
Naruto was laying on the ground, his hands locked behind his head as he gazed at the fish going about their business. He then blinked when he saw Mavis floating above him, looking down at him with a smile. "You're blocking my view, Mavis."
"You do know that we're underneath the sea, right?" the first guild master asked as she smiled at him "We can't see much of anything down here."
Naruto chuckled, closing his eyes. "How much longer before we resurface?"
"Seven minutes." Mavis said.
"Seven years passed up there and they will only age by 7 minutes. This guild really is something special." Naruto said to himself.
"The bonds of Fairy Tail have become stronger with each new generation." Mavis said softly, closing her eyes.
"So, the stronger the bond, the greater the Sphere." Minato nodded his head "Seven minutes for seven years, from the way Naruto is saying that, I can tell that their bond is something very impressive."
"It's not just magic that is magical,…" Hashirama smiled with the others nodding in agreement with the First Hokage.
"You know, I have the same feeling when I first heard about Konoha after all those years." Hashirama smiled brightly at he looked at the next generation of his pride village, the ones that inherited the will of fire and would soon pass it down to the next generation of leaf Shinobi and Kunoichi.
"It is, Shodaime-sama, it is." The Sandaime Hokage smiled before continuing his reading.
Naruto started to sit up but was surprised when the spirit hugged him, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Thank you, Naruto...for protecting the guild from Acnologia." she whispered softly. Even though she was supposed to be a spirit, he could still feel the warmth from her.
"Aw~" The Kunoichi cooed warmly at such scene between Naruto and Mavis, which appeared on the flat-scene TV to show it to everyone. Their similarities in hair and eye colors made them look like biological brother and sister if Naruto still had his blue eyes. Minato and Kushina also smiled, but inside they couldn't help but feel a little sad, wondering if they were alive and tried for another child, perhaps a daughter, would that be the scene that they would see every day.
Mira agreed wholeheartedly and kissed her husband's cheek and gave him a smile that made many guys blush along with women who looked at her in jealousy.
"I never did give you my thanks for helping us, perhaps after we're done here, I can properly thank you." She whispered to him. He perked up and grinned pervertedly and nodded making her giggle at her excitement further increasing the men's jealousy of Naruto getting a hot woman like Mirajane.
"It was nothing." Naruto smiled and stood up as he passed through her ethereal body. "There is a ship approaching. I better make my way back to the others."
"And Naruto," Mavis called out to him, as he stopped and turned back her. "Don't forget what we talked about." Naruto said nothing, but he did nod in acknowledgement. And with that, he walked back towards the group as Mavis prepared to appear before the ship and raise the island.
Earlier
Seven years had passed since the day Tenrou Island, disappeared completely from the surface of Earthland. Fairy Tail, once the strongest Guild of Fiore, had become the weakest mage guild in Fiore. Without its former members to bring in the income generated by various mission requests, the guild fell into a destitute state and couldn't keep their old building, which was eventually forced into foreclosure. After they left it, the remaining members of Fairy Tail moved into a small tavern at the edge of the town and made it their new base of operations.
"So all of the strongest were on the island then?" Kurotsuchi asked, having stayed quiet for most of the chapter now decided to speak up.
"It was for the S-class trials for those that were contending to become S-class mages. We would've been back the next day if we hadn't been attacked." Mira said, getting understanding looks and nods. It they hadn't been attacked, they would've been back to keep their guild from weakening as much as the book said.
"So you aren't given the title when you've reached that skill, but have to earn it in a test?" Anko asked, getting nods from Naruto and Mira.
"Yes and every guild has their own tests for wizards to reach that rank. ANd only one person is given the rank every time." Mira told her.
"That's very different from how those classifications are given, if a person is skilled enough to do those missions, that person will be given the rank without going through a test." Anko told them with Naruto nodding since they only had tests to get to Chunin and Jonin ranks.
For years, the remaining members of Fairy Tail searched for their family, but they never found any leads. Other guilds had joined together in the search, some of their leaders like those of Blue Pegasus, Lamia Scale and Quatro Cerberus had been former Fairy Tail members, after all. But none of their efforts had resulted in anything. The Magic Council had eventually let them know that it was Acnologia who had attacked the island and wiped it out. It had shocked them to the core and taken all hope from them because very few didn't know of the legendary dragon.
However, now they were given one more chance. Blue Pegasus had come to Fairy Tail with new information, that they had basically picked up readings that matched Tenrou Island, indicating that it still existed somewhere. Without needed much push, some of the remaining members boarded a ship and sailed out to the location where Tenrou used to be.
"Are you sure we're looking in the right spot?" Bisca said as they neared the old location.
"It is odd we haven't seen anything yet." Alzack, her husband, said to the green haired woman.
A picture of Bisca appeared with her attire at the time and many of the guys having nosebleeds while some others looked away not wanting to piss off the women with them getting nods of approval from them. Kushina however had covered Minato's eyes, but he winced since she basically slapped them over his eyes.
When an image of Alzack appeared next to Bisca's a few women had blushes on their faces though most of them weren't as impressed compared to what they've seen so far like Laxus, Gray, Natsu, Gildarts, and Naruto.
"Even after seven years, they continued looking for you guys. That's some dedication right there." Temari said in surprise.
"We wouldn't have even looked for long if at all back before the Fourth Ninja war happened." Tsunade said with a whistle, but also sighed knowing how things were back then much to Mira's horror.
"You would never even look for your ninja that would be missing? You'd just abandon them just like that? How could you?" She asked quietly, but it wasn't enough as several nearby heard her still and had to fight down flinches.
No one had an answer and just continued to look back to the book, hopefully they'd move past the topic.
"How do even know they are still alive?" she asked.
"We don't, but if the guys from Blue Pegasus are so sure then we have to have faith." he replied.
"You picking anything up with your Telepathy?" Max asked Warren.
Warren let out a sigh. "No, I'm not picking up anything at all."
Meanwhile Jet and Droy were excited to see Levy again, the both of them dancing along the railing, eventually irritating Warren. "WILL YOU TWO SHUT UP!" Warren yelled as they were breaking his concentration. A few moment's later, the ship suddenly stopped.
"That's weird," Bisca noted, "It's like the breeze just stopped."
"Yeah, the ship just stopped all of a sudden." Alzack said.
"And there's no birds either." Jet noted.
"Hey do you see that?" Max asked as he pointed out off in the distance, seeing a girl standing on the water.
"Yeah what is it?" Wakaba asked.
"It's a person standing on the water." Alzack said.
"It's a girl!" Wakaba said.
"How is she doing that?" Jet asked.
"How should I know?" Droy asked.
With a smile on her face, Mavis Vermilion raised her arms on either side into the air. As she did so, golden pillars of magic came out of the ocean. The ship began to rock as the waves got rough, the waves growing as something massive rose from the ocean depths. Soon, the water bubbled up and allowed Tenrou Island, still protected by the glowing golden Fairy Sphere, to emerge from the bottom of the ocean, shocking the members of Fairy Tail on the ship. After the waves settled, she gestured them to follow her, and Mavis turned around making her way back towards the island.
Fairy Tail's wizards moored the ship near the beach and went ashore, trying their best to catch up to Mavis, but she kept floating away from them. Bisca glanced around, but was unable to see the little girl, "Hey, where'd that girl go?" she asked.
"I don't know, she just vanished." Alzack said.
"Jet, go after her!" Max said.
Jet gave a nod and he was off to the races, disappearing from view in a burst of his Speed Magic. However, after running for a minute in the general direction Mavis had went, he slowed down, confused. He should have caught up to her by now. He then came to a screeching halt and looked around, and suddenly he gasped as he came face to face with a familiar mop of pink hair face down in the dirt.
"Natsu…" Jet said while the rest came running up behind him and stopped as they too gasped in shock. As quickly as they could, they went to the Dragon Slayers side. After checking Natsu and seeing he was still alive, they pulled him out of the dirt and tried to wake him up. "Natsu, are you alright!? Speak to me!" Jet said to the pink haired dragon slayer
"Natsu, get a hold of yourself!" Droy said.
"You gotta get up, man!" Max cried out.
"WHAT!? LET ME FUCKING SLEEP, JERKS!" Natsu shouted out suddenly and sat straight up, ready to fight.
"Wha… I believe we have found another, pink haired version of when Naruto first became a genin." Jiraiya laughed loudly. "A noisy brat who blindly fights first and thinks later." The closest people to Naruto, such as Kakashi and Iruka, nodded their head in agreement with a long sigh. There were some who snickered, especially Mira whose was the loudest making Naruto look embarrassed by what was being said about him.
"I'll need to hear all about this as I'm quite curious about what you were like back then." Mira tapped her chin in thought while Kushina and Minato were chuckling at the young parents with how they were interacting.
"I don't think we need to do that." Naruto replied though she ignored him and looked some of the Konoha nin expectantly while those watched while chuckling while others looked nervous under her gaze.
"I'd be more than happy to share stories as long as we have a drink-" Jiraiya offered though was cut off when he felt himself get punched out of his seat sending him into the ground. It wasn't Tsunade this time that did it.
"Ero-sennin! That's our mother you're talking about." G.A. said with no emotion in his voice as he glared at the toad sage along with his sister Kushina who didn't look happy at him either.
"I'll beat you up if you talk about mama like that again." K.U. threatened as her hair started flowing behind her making everyone cower in fear except for K.N. who was amazed at her grandkids and how her granddaughter was able to make her hair float like she could do to hers.
Everyone heard coughing and looked towards Mira who looked at them that promised nothing, but pain.
"Let's get back to the book please, I'm sure everyone's wanting to get back to it." She said with the same smile not leaving her face. They all nodded and looked at Kurotsuchi who started reading again.
"NATSU!" The older Fairy Tail members cried happily as Warren, Jet, Droy, and Max dog-piled him in a big hug.
"What the hell?" The pink haired boy wondered out loud, "Why are you guys on the island?"
He then took a closer look and widened his eyes in shock. "AND WHY DO YOU GUYS LOOK SO MUCH OLDER!? AND WHY DID DROY GET SO FAT!?" He cried out and pointed at the chubby man standing next to Jet, his eyes as wide as dinner plates.
"Seven years did pass, after all." Minato chuckled "But to the people on Tenrou, it's only seven minutes… it must be a lot for them to handle once they get back to civilization."
"You haven't changed at all..." the four men cried happily.
"Ugh, is it morning already?" came Happy's voice, as Alzack and Bisca turned around and found his head sticking out of the dirt. "Can I have some fish for breakfast?"
"HAPPY!" Bisca and Alzack cried out in surprise.
Natsu groaned and grabbed the side of his head. "Ugh, my head is killing me. Last thing I remember, we had just been attacked by Acnologia," he said, trying to recall his memories.
His eyes then snapped open, remembering the last thing before he had lost consciousness. "What happened to everyone else?" he asked in worry.
"They're right over here." Mavis said softly, getting the attention of the group.
"Who are you?" Natsu and Happy asked at the same time.
"My name is Mavis, Fairy Tail's first master, Mavis Vermilion." She introduced happily, making the Fairy Tail group to cry out in absolute shock. She then slowly turned around and floated away, leading them to the spots where the other members of Fairy Tail were.
Every one of the others started to wake up, with Mira, Elfman, and Lisanna in a group of their own. Mira soon realized something when she looked around. "Wait, where's Naruto-kun at?" She asked, making her siblings look around for him as well. Last time they saw him, he had been seriously injured by Acnologia.
"I'm right here, Mira-chan." Naruto said as he came out of the tree's in his new attire. Mira ran up to him and crashed into his body, hugging him tightly.
"You're okay." Mira whispered as she hugged him tightly, glad he was safe. Absentmindedly, she noted that his muscles felt more dense and filled out compared to before they went under when he had been under Zancrow for too long.
"Oh, it seems Mira got a feel of his chest and abs, how was it~" Mira blushed at the question that came from Anko, remembering how it did indeed feel and it made her remember a lot of other things that she wasn't going to be mentioning, but her face couldn't stop from flushing a bit more.
Anko was practically cackling at seeing how flustered she was becoming. It seems there was more to her than she thought and by the expression on her face, she must be remembering something juicy and if she had to guess, it involved Naruto. Mei, Yugito, Fu, Temari, and Samui came to the same conclusions and looked interested or blushed at the thoughts that were entering their heads making the blush in arousal.
"Okay, moving on." Minato didn't want to hear or think about his son's sex life or the other women showing interest in him.
"Yeah, I'm all better." Naruto said as Lisanna and Elfman also came over to him.
"We were so worried., Naruto-nii." Lisanna said as she hugged him.
"Yeah, I know me getting almost one-shot didn't help matters, but you don't need to worry about me." Naruto said, dislodging himself from Lisanna, placing a hand on Elfman's shoulder, firmly clasping it. Despite Elfman technically being taller than Naruto, in that moment, Elfman felt like a little kid, relief that his big brother was well. "I'm all good now."
"Come on, lets go join the rest of the guild." Naruto said as everyone was gathering around Mavis.
The rest of the guild then gathered in front of Mavis, with everyone but Naruto being surprised at Fairy Tail's First Master being here as a spirit.
"My word, to think we were saved by Fairy Tail's Founding Master." Makarov said happily through tears with a smile
"No...I'm just a spirit. I used what little strength I had to convert your bonds into Magic Power." Mavis smiled with her eyes closed as her spirit began to glow in brilliant golden light. "It was your bonds of friendship and unwavering love for one another that brought forth Fairy Sphere." She then looked at them and smiled with her head tilted to the side. "Be proud of the Guild you've built, Makarov. They're wonderful."
"That is some really wise words for someone so young." The Sandaime Hokage said in surprise. During the time when he was still the Hokage of the Leaf and alive, only Itachi Uchiha had shown such wisdom when he was still very young.
"I don't think she is that young." Kakashi said "She is a spirit, after all."
"Oh, I like that." Hashirama made a small smile and nodded his head "Those words sounds amazing, don't they?" He asked his brother, he kept a stoic expression and nodded his head nonetheless "I have great hope for the future" But of course, it wasn't the same hope as Jiraiya the Toad Sage.
"Risking their life to save one of their own, and consider them their family. These people's bonds must be really, really strong." Sarutobi smiled, "Please continue, Shodaime-sama."
Naruto smiled at the scene, this really brought back some memories about when Hiruzen took care of him when he was young.
Although he was pulled out of his inner reverie when he noticed something strange as Mavis's spirit disappeared from view but he filed it away to look into later.
Later on the boat
"Blegh..." as soon as the ship began to move, Natsu groaned with his hand covered his mouth as he stood at the side of the boat, his face turning green.
"Motion sickness?" Naruto asked Lucy, who happened to be the closest person to him. "Seriously? That's a thing with him?"
"Yes." She nodded her head before turning to the other dragon slayer. "All of them are really bad with transportation, save for Wendy."
"But I do wonder… is motion sickness a unique trait of every dragon slayer."
"And from the look of it, it's rather bad." Kushina followed, making everyone chuckle lightly.
"So lame." A grumbled.
"It makes sense though." Naruto suddenly spoke up, getting everyone's attention. "It's because their sensory system cannot handle something like dragons' vision, which is far more powerful than that of a normal human. The gap between a human's semicircular canals and a dragon's visual acuity is simply too much for time to cover and as they get stronger, so does their sickness, which is why the weaker ones won't find this as much of a problem as the strong." He answered, getting nods from people as it made sense really.
"I see…" Tobirama nodded his head while rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
Naruto looked over at Gajeel and he could tell he was trying and failing to act tough, as he too was about ready to hurl. Wendy was scrunching her eyebrows as she worked on healing the others, but she wasn't doing so bad. She must have cast a spell on herself so it doesn't bother her as much. Naruto found it interesting, at least, this was something all the ancient texts he had read on Dragonslayers had never mentioned.
"I didn't thank you for saving us so...thank you." Lucy offered Naruto.
"Like I said, no need for that." Naruto shook his head.
"But still..." a frown made it to Lucy's face but then she smiled, "I'm still grateful for what you did, I'm Lucy Heartfilia, nice to meet you." she offered him her hands.
"Naruto Uzumaki." Naruto took it and shook Lucy's hands. He then looked around and noticed all the members of Fairy Tail were gathered around him. For the older members who were standing off to the side, they didn't know who this guy was. For the Tenrou members, they wanted to thank him for all he did for them. "Something I can help with?"
"Young man, the guild wanted to take a moment to thank you for coming to our aid. Both against Grimoire Heart, and The Black Dragon." Makarov started.
"You probably saved us multiple times, Naruto-nii." Lisanna said.
"We owe you our lives." Erza said humbly with a slight bow, the other members, even Natsu and Gajeel despite suffering from motion sickness, nodded their heads in agreement.
"It was nothing. I would have helped you whether you needed it or not. I wanted revenge on Grimoire Heart, and no decent man would just let you face Acnologia by yourselves." Naruto said as he was thinking about Mavis's words to him in the back of his mind.
'You can't forget to live, else what will you have left whether you win or lose?' She had said.
'She's right,' Naruto thought to himself. 'That was another area where Sasuke failed. He had no plan when he abandoned the Leaf besides gaining power to get revenge, nothing set for what he would do after he had killed Itachi. I mustn't become so consumed by gaining power, that I forget why I'm gaining it in the first place.'
Sasuke had a sad smile on his face as he realized how right this Naruto was. He hadn't thought what to do after he had killed Itachi and his anger hadn't disappeared. Even after it was all done, he had been manipulated and used by Obito to attack the Leaf village in his anger for why Itachi had killed off the clan. What Obito hadn't told him was how he was also responsible for helping kill off the clan as well and did it because of how he hated them.
He had lost sight of himself in his need for revenge and anger. This guy though isn't letting this become an obsession consume him, he was a little jealous, but it was mostly happiness that he didn't make the same mistakes he had made. It seems Naruto was right in his way of doing things.
'I've made great progress to closing the gap between me and Acnologia, but will I be strong enough when the time comes to face him? I don't know. But, I can't burn every bridge in front me trying to get strong enough to find out.' With that final thought, he walked over to the join the others, as the ship sailed back to Magnolia.
Kurotsuchi closed the book as the chapter finished. It was a long one compared to most of them that they had read so far.
"That was certainly an interesting chapter, we got to see what Naruto did the last year and them returning to the world." Minato said with a smirk. His son had grown very strong, but wonders how he compares to himself. Maybe a spar to test is in order?
"Who wants to read next?" Kurotsuchi looked around when the book disappeared from her hands and landed in Onooki's making him glare at the book, but did nothing more and grumbled.
Chapter End
