Here is the fifty-fifth chapter in this story released in accordance with the release schedule. I know that this is later than usual and I apologize, Christmas and New Year is a hectic time for me but all that is over and I've got a new writing schedule for my stories so things should pick up though IRL commitments do come first so I can't promise anything beyond the fact that I will continue to get chapters out as soon as they are ready. Anyway, it's not just Fairy Tail that is celebrating in the wake of the Grand Magic Games but the winners of said games as well, the Black Bulls. They've been busy in the wake of their victory dealing with what comes from winning the Games but they've adjusted and it's time to properly celebrate, or is it? Unbeknownst to them a few things are about to come that could have major long term ramifications for not just the Black Bulls but all of Fiore. Well let's see how they handle all that is to come as that is all the administrative stuff I have for y'all while there are no questions that need an answer here, there are four guest reviews that need a response and so I will do that there and there now. Do keep them coming as your support is the best motivation for me to keep producing chapters at this kind of rate.
To Kouteikuro (guest), good to see you enjoyed the last chapter. As for why it wasn't Yami who was named a Wizard Saint, the simple reason is that the Magic Council don't actually know what he can do beyond being able to handle SS-Class jobs so he's more akin to Gildarts than anyone else at the moment. He's certainly Wizard Saint level but he's not exactly shown it whereas Asta has. There is more to the choice of Asta and that will be explained in this chapter so stay tuned for their reasoning. Do keep reading and enjoying my work.
To antichump (guest), glad you liked the last chapter. Your question isn't an inconvenience and others have made suggestions regarding this in the past and the answer is we'll see. I know it's vague but I'm going to let the Asta being referred to as the Demon King to build throughout and see if it works and sticks or not. The fact that he defeated the Fairy Queen while looking like a demon will play into it how popular the name becomes and if it does stick the idea of the Demon King and Fairy Queen fighting alongside each other might instill a bit of fear into their enemies. As for a nickname to accompany it, if I do it will be something from Shakespeare so as to be a parallel to Titania. There are a few to choose from there but any that are already in Black Clover like Beelzebub and Lucifer (Lucifero is the Italian pronunciation of Lucifer) won't be used. I hope that answers your questions and do keep reading and enjoying my work.
To Kiwifruit152 (guest), thank you for your review and don't feel cringe for asking questions or posing thoughts, they be very helpful in their own way and sometimes help clarify things I may have not managed. You wanted some clarification and to ask a question that hadn't been posed before and I did my best to answer it. As for updates, I certainly know the feeling, basically every story I follow seems to stop updating, but I will always try to get at least one chapter out a month for each of my stories. I know it's been a while at the moment but such is the nature of Christmas and New Year but all that is over and I have a new writing schedule that should help speed things up across my stories so there's still a lot to look forward to. Do watch Fairy Tail when you have the time, it's a great anime to enjoy with a lot of content but I'm glad that even without it my story can be followed. Do keep reading and enjoying my work.
To Guest (guest), yup, Makarov has learned a thing or two from Yami. As for Asta being named a Wizard Saint, well the reaction is coming here so stay tuned for it. Just to clarify as there may be some confusion, as of right now the Black Bulls are unaware of the ranking system used in the Heart and Spade Kingdoms so they don't know what an Arcane Stage Mage is, nor a Stage 0, 1, or Saint. This is because they've not actually been to the Heart Kingdom, they were banished right after the events of the Elf Invasion, they didn't even go through the Magic Parliament stuff, that was the key change to the story and why the banishment is completely replacing the Heart Kingdom/general training time skip. Of course time wise they'll still get back a little before the attacks at the end of the time skip what with the time discrepancy but as none of them beyond Mimosa briefly as a kid have gone to the Heart Kingdom, they don't know the system. That may change before the story is up, they may learn about the stages and that Asta is Arcane but for the moment they don't know. I hope that that clears anything up and do keep reading and enjoying my work.
That is it for this long pre-chapter note so it is time to sit back and enjoy the fifty-fifth chapter in Black Bull Banishment.
Disclaimer: I own nothing related to these two great animes.
Chapter 55: Consequences of Victory
"Man, that is a beautiful thing to look at, isn't it?" Yami asked as he and the Black Bulls stared at what Henry had finished protecting. "I'm so proud of you knuckleheads. When we get home, we'll rub this into everyone even though they won't understand it."
All the others could do was smile, grin, or nod at the sight before them. In the very center of the common room, on a plinth and protected by several layers of thick glass that should withstand everyone's magic, at least long enough to move it, was an absolutely massive, solid gold trophy.
It was a standard trophy shape with a large body, short neck, and round base on a black square with handles on either side that were designed to resemble wings. There was a raised pair of symbols in the center of it and a relief ring around the top. Oddly, it had a lid to it with a crown-like thing in the center but the Black Bulls didn't mind it as they all stared admiringly at their trophy.
The King had personally awarded it to them in a private ceremony he'd held for the Black Bulls the morning after the Grand Ball. Usually it would have been a big ceremony the day after the Games with the Ball to conclude the day but, well, there was a small dragon attack right after the Games that delayed things and the Grand Ball was a better unifier than the ceremony so it was postponed until afterwards.
Not that the Black Bulls minded as they got their trophy and prize money, which Yami had divided equally amongst the Squad except for Asta who got a double portion as he had been the one to win the Games for them in the end, and enjoyed a personal reception with the King. They'd already deduced that he was better than King Clover, several had said as much during the Ball when defending Hisui's decision to accept punishment for allowing the dragon attack to occur due to her actions, and this confirmed it as they all had a good time to truly end the Games for them.
On top of all that, job and merchandise requests had been coming in thick and fast in the wake of their victory. They were now the top Guild in Fiore after all, something they'd more than proven in the Battle Royale, and as such they were in high demand so all the best, toughest, and highest paying jobs were coming their way and Yami wasn't going to pass them up.
Not only would the jobs net even more coin for the Black Bulls but the difficulty of, and challenges posed by, the requests would really help all of them surpass their limits and grow even stronger over the course of their time here. That was the whole goal of their banishment to Earth Land after all; to get stronger and now they had the chance to drastically increase that thanks to their victory and all of them were jumping on that chance.
In fact everyone had already started jumping as while it had only been a week since the end of the Games, every member of the Guild except Henry, who'd been swamped managing the merchandise side of their business while also moving the hideout to a new location, had been on at least one job with Magna, Noelle, and Mimosa all wanting to take and S-Class job solo to go up to that rank. They'd only received a few jobs that were considered S-Class and Yami had personally taken one of them due to the challenge of it but there were a few others and soon those who wanted to try would get the chance.
That said, they were still in the wake of the Games and while they'd taken jobs since then, none had been too complicated or time consuming, though they were still challenging, as they were still processing everything. Add in all the requests for either the items that they made or more often than not their merchandise and there was a lot to deal with.
Still, it was to be expected what with the display that they'd put on as they powered to victory in the Grand Magic Games. Already the various figures, plushies, flags, calendars, and other items that depicted them or the Squad's Guild Mark had sold out of their stores in Magnolia and Crocus within 2 hours of the stores reopening following the dragon attack. Now they had massive backorders to fill on everything and already Yami had new ideas to exploit their success.
Finally there was the modeling offers that were coming in from Sorcerer Weekly and other publications. Vanessa was already a top tier model in Fiore but after the Games and her actions in the dragon attack, Noelle was now in high demand while there was a lot of interest in Mimosa and Charmy as well. Even Grey and Nero were wanted simply because they were cute girls who were in the Black Bulls.
So, despite protests from Noelle, Mimosa, and Grey, Charmy could be bribed with food and Nero didn't bother fighting it, Vanessa was now running that part of their lives in addition to everything else going on. As a result, all the girls had modeling work to do around their jobs though their jobs did come first as they were in Earth Land to get stronger not show off how attractive they were.
Hell, even the guys were getting modeling attention though mainly it was Asta who's actions, and a confirmation from an anonymous source that he was single, had instantly put him near the top of Fiore's most eligible bachelors list much to Noelle fury, Mimosa's horror, and Finral's jealousy. Well Noelle and Mimosa were also jealous as well but that went without saying given how they felt about Asta.
That jealousy got worse when only the day before Sorcerer Weekly had even gotten into the market and Asta, Magna, Luck, Finral, and even Yami had been brought up in a series of articles about the latest batch of top bachelors in Fiore which had helped alleviate Finral's jealousy somewhat. On to of that there was an additional offer of a shirtless spread for all the Black Bull men to show off what they had to offer.
Then there was the recently planned a series of 'Hunks of Fiore' calendars that Asta and Yami had been invited to partake in both the individual ones and the group ones. Of course neither Noelle nor Mimosa would never admit that they'd both already used Vanessa to put a pre order in for the Asta one when it came out.
Naturally Asta had taken all of this in his usual good cheer and embraced it as some kind of training but jobs that helped him grow stronger always came first so he didn't have many shoots lined up for the near future. That was fine and Vanessa, acting as the Black Bulls' modeling agent at this point, used that to the Squad's advantage as rarity added the price of any shoots that Asta could make, or the others for that matter.
Yes, things had been good for the first two years of their banishment but after the Grand Magic Games and the fame that their actions and win brought them things had exploded. They were raking things in and barely able to keep track of it everything that was coming their way. That was why they'd been easing into things as there was so much to sort out but thankfully with the festivities after the Games there wasn't much pressing time on many of the job requests so they were steadily sorting through them with Yami, Henry, Nero, and Vanessa taking charge of the various aspects of their lives in Earth Land.
"This trophy shows what you can do." Yami continued as they all continued to stare at the trophy and enjoying the break that today was from processing the explosion in popularity that they'd had to deal with. "And all that's come in from it is proof. Don't let me down now that we've reached the top. We're here to get stronger and winning this baby was just one way that we've achieved that. Starting tomorrow it's back to the grindstone."
"Yes sir!" The Squad said as one.
"Good now before we truly celebrate the way only we can, there are a few things to sort out so that we can hit the ground running in the wake of our win." Yami said turning to them. "Vanessa, Finral, Zora and Charmy, you four are to go to Crocus and run things from our tavern there. It's centrally located and is where many of the major non-Guild related things are based so it's easier to coordinate that aspect of our lives from there. Plus there's more in the way of food and deliveries for Charmy and Finral's roles though with the communication devices we can contact Finral anywhere for that part."
"I'm not just a delivery boy." Finral complained.
"No you're not and I fully expect you to complete at least one standard job a week, minimum." Yami said. "That goes for all of us, including me. That requirement comes first by the way."
"Yes sir." They all said again.
"But we are also capitalizing on our fame and abilities so yes Finral you will be used for deliveries and in that vein I expect you to focus on jobs that help you see as many places as possible so as to expand your portal network." Yami said looking at Finral. "You made a name for yourself in Chariots and now people know we've got a Spatial Mage of your abilities so we're getting a lot of requests for your services in particular. Of course we charge a lot for it and that's reflected in your pay but with Charmy there to resupply your mana, and be part of the service as we'll be marketing her mana recovery food thanks to its use during the dragon attack and which we can offer near instant delivery on, it should be fine."
"Well if I am getting a cut of it then that's fine and I won't lie, the more places I see the easier things will be." Finral said. "Plus with more money, locations that I can reach quickly, and being in Crocus with all the lovely ladies there I can take many of them on better dates than ever before. Alright I'll do it! No wait, I can't do that I've only got eyes for Lady Finnes!"
"Pathetic." Noelle muttered as Finral devolved the way he always did when his sleezy nature contrasted with his desire to marry Lady Finnes.
"Vanessa, you'll be coordinating the modeling aspect as you've already been doing and because I don't get that stuff at all." Yami said ignoring Finral. "Remember that our work is the priority and factor that into our fees and availability."
"Don't worry Captain, I've got it all sorted." Vanessa said with a grin. "I've got a good relationship with Sorcerer Weekly so it won't be an issue."
"Good." Yami said. "Zora, you're main focus is jobs that play to your skills and gathering intel as you're not in demand elsewhere, I just want you based there because it's central so there's more use for you there but I'll leave the rest to you."
"Whatever you say Captain." Zora said. "So long as I can continue what I do best I don't mind where I'm based."
"Good." Yami said before he looked over the others. "As for the rest of us, we will move between the hideout, which will move every now and then so that Henry can also train, and Crocus as needed and we will all be needed in Crocus a fair bit. All the while Henry will continue to manage the stores from here and we're going to expand to the other major cities as well. We need to get on this soon as the orders are piling up, especially for the merchandise."
"Most of the merchandise manufacturing can be contracted out as we don't really have the skills to make them ourselves, at least not at the quality that they do here." Henry said from his nearby protective pod his voice slow and measured as usual. "We have a licensing deal with one company but after the Grand Magic Games others have been asking for one as well so I've already reached out to a few of the better ones to see who will offer the best deal for the latest line of merch. We need to fill orders and they're all eager to be our partners when it comes to the standard merch we sell. The only thing that I can't do is the magical items, that's all Nero."
"I've gotten most of the items down to a simple process." Nero said. "And they're not the biggest sellers when compared to the merchandise so I can keep up with orders though the more stores we have the harder it may be."
"Do what you can, we can change that model to an order and delivery system if need be as they are made in house." Yami said. "Only the brooms really sell these days, our main sales are in the Black Bull licensed items which are contracted out. Those are the focus for stocking up though we should have some of our magic items on sale as well to remind people that we offer those as well. Coordinate with Henry on what you need and what is best for the stores, I'll leave that in your hands."
"Will do." Nero said with a nod.
"Gordon, you can help if you have time." Yami said. "Though I expect you and Gauche to continue your research of this world as well."
"Of course, I'll help my friends." Gordon said. "Anything to help out the Squad."
"Alright that just leaves the rest of us." Yami said. "We'll mainly be focused on job requests but if Vanessa needs you keep some time open for her as the publicity from the modeling gigs will help in its own way."
"Yes sir." The Squad said though naturally a few of them were nervous about that aspect of their work.
"Good then with that done we should…" Yami began but before he could finish there was a loud banging at the door that got their attention. "…deal with that it seems."
"Who's come to interrupt us here right when we were about to celebrate our ascension to our rightful place at the top of the rankings." Magna groaned as he turned and stalked over to the door as the person on the other side continued to pound on it. "I get that we're the Number One Guild in Fiore so it's to be expected but still, at least…"
Magna didn't finish before the door was knocked off its hinges and into him. He let out a yelp before it was knocked over and they all turned ready to fight off an attack as they looked to see who'd knocked down their door.
Standing in the doorway was a man with an impressive gray beard and mustache and hair around the sides of his head while the top was bald with a bat-like thing perched on it. He wore important looking robes with a long, white robe one with a high collar over them. For some reason, his right eye was shut and his right fist was still raised as if he didn't expect the door to be blasted off from his incessant knocking.
"Your door is surprisingly weak." The man said as he lowered his fist. "You should get that looked at though few would beyond the boldest Dark Guilds be stupid enough to attack you after seeing what you did in the Grand Magic Games."
"Org, a pleasure to see you." Yami said greeting the member of the Magic Council who he'd been planning on seeing anyway once the aftermath of the Games had died down with a grin as his arrival spared Yami a trip to meet the man in an out of the way location in Fiore. "Do come in, I must admit that this is earlier than I expected but I take it that everything is in order regarding what we discussed a while back."
"It is and I'm sorry for the unannounced arrival, I had planned to leave a message at your tavern in Crocus to meet me in Onibus Town regarding the matter you entrusted me Guild Master Yami." Org said as he walked in, stepping around the door and Magna still complaining under it and into the common room. "But something recently occurred that required one of us to visit you and, well, given our business I volunteered to do so. Two birds with one stone after all. Well, actually it's three as there's a third reason why I'm here which but that is a favor to a friend of a friend that can wait until my other business with you and the Black Bulls has concluded."
"Makes sense." Yami said as the rest of the Squad backed up but remained standing and respectful as a member of the Magic Council was present though only Yami had actually met Org before and he was the only member of the Council that he'd met. "So what business does the Magic Council have with us? Nothing bad I hope because I'm pretty sure that we've actually behaved ourselves recently and any destruction in Crocus was either sanctioned due to the Grand Magic Games or necessary due to what happened afterwards. Plus the thing Asta did should be paid for by Fairy Tail because it was their idea not ours."
"No though the cut you sliced through the Royal Palace was noted but given the circumstances it wasn't an issue and you seem to have the Princess's trust so we can't really reprimand you for that beyond making sure that you pay for the repairs out of your cut of the lacrima recording proceeds when they go on sale." Org said shaking his head. "And the misunderstanding with the King has already been sorted out thanks to the Princess."
"That's both good and to be expected regarding the repair costs as that was what I was told to expect." Yami said. "So that's a relief to hear. Where do you want to start then?"
"I'll start with our personal business." Org said. "Then I'll get to what the Council wants with the Black Bulls in a moment."
"That's probably for the best." Yami said. "That can be concluded quickly. I take it everything is in order on that front."
"It is and I thank you for trusting me to act as your intermediary in this regard." Org said with a nod of his head as he reached into his robe and pulled out a sheet of paper that he handed to Yami. "Your receipt for the bet that I placed on your behalf minus my fee for doing so. Naturally, this was all done anonymously and the transfers are already in motion."
"Excellent, this will really help in our coming expansion as well as aiding me in my own personal endeavors." Yami said grinning as he took the receipt and looked it over to make sure that it was all there and blinked at the amount that was listed on it. "That's, that's a lot. More than I was expecting even with your fee."
"Well you did place it after entering the Games but before the preliminaries had occurred so the bookmakers had the odds of the Black Bulls winning ow due to the new and relatively unknown nature of your Guild." Org said. "And you put a lot on then to win, through me of course. No one expected it but, well, you cleaned out and the bets here are locked at the odds that were listed at the time that the bet was placed. That receipt has several spells on it to confirm the time, amount, and odds so as to keep the bookies honest, so even as your odds of winning improved as the Games went on, you were still locked in at the odds that were listed at the time of your bet. As was I for that matter."
"You bet on us?" Yami asked surprised. "Really?"
"What can I say, after I met you I had a feeling that you were more than you seemed and you were confident in your Guild so I placed a modest bet on you as well." Org said with a smile. "Nowhere near as much as you, just a small amount that I wouldn't miss if I lost, but it was more than enough that I could have a very comfortable retirement when the time comes from my winnings alone so I thank you for that."
"Well then you're welcome." Yami said. "And the process of having the winnings transferred to my personal account is all set up? All this isn't exactly above board after all."
"They are currently in the anonymous account that was set up for the bet but the winnings will be moved to your personal account gradually over the next few months so as to avoid suspicion seeing as it is illegal to bet on your own Guild in the Grand Magic Games." Org said. "Or for any Guild member of a participating Guild to bet on any Guild for that matter. That doesn't apply to going through a middle man, or at least it's legally ambiguous enough that it would be more effort than it's worth to deal with, so it should be good. Besides, all the instructions and processes are in place, it will be legit."
"I figured that it was illegal, that's why I approached you to serve as my middle man." Yami said. "I got a good feel for your ki when we met so I knew I could trust you for this. I'm a seasoned gambler, I had to bet on my guys, especially after I learned I couldn't partake myself, so I needed someone like you to facilitate that."
"I'm not as rigid as some of the other members of the Council." Org said. "Plus some insider information on an up and coming Guild and a promise that you would win or else take on an SS-Class job that's been on the books for over 20 years was good enough for me."
"Well then it was a pleasure doing business with you." Yami said grinning as he put the receipt away in his pocket. "I'll check my account at the designated times to make sure everything is being processed as listed."
"Er Captain Yami, you bet on us?" Asta asked surprised.
"Of course I did." Yami said grinning as he turned to look at his Squad. "I had so much faith in you that I knew it was a sure thing and when I saw our odds, well I knew that I'd clean up thanks to you. Don't worry, some of the funds will be used for the Squad's non-Guild related endeavors. We do need to buy the new store locations and set them up after all."
"Ah man I should have done that as well." Magna complained. "I could have finally won something."
"Find your own middle man, Org's my contact." Yami said. "And a damned good one so he's off limits to the rest of you."
"Thank you." Org said. "But now that that is over I've got other business to attend to with you, official Magic Council business."
"Of course." Yami said getting serious. "So what does the Magic Council want with us? If it's a big or tough job just send it over, we're always looking for tough jobs to help us surpass our limits."
"Noted but that's not it, I'm actually here to relay this news to one of your members." Org said before he turned and looked at Asta which surprised Asta. "Asta of the Black Bulls, it has been decided by the Magic Council that you are to be named a Wizard Saint. Do you accept this title?"
The sudden announcement caused everyone to blink in surprise at the offer. They'd only been in Earth Land for two years but already they knew of the Wizard Saints, they were considered to be 10 of the strongest mages on all of Ishgar with renown throughout the continent so for Asta to be named one, well it was huge. It only took a moment but then the damn broke and everyone began to speak at once.
"Way to go Asta!"
"Knew you had it in you!"
"That's my best friend!"
"We need food to celebrate right away!"
"You've come so far l'il rasta!"
"Well done!"
"Booze, we have to break out our best booze to toast this!"
"That makes you really strong, let's fight!"
"I'll tell Marie only because it will make her happy but I'm taking credit for this."
The congratulations continued though Noelle was still silent as she stared at Asta unable to say anything at the news. She knew that he'd be the Wizard King one day and had full faith and trust in him but it was so surprising to see him recognized for how amazing he was that she was stunned. It just showed how much better Fiore was when it came to recognizing talent when compared to back home and added to her desire to change the Clover Kingdom for the better because Asta deserved this. Of course she couldn't tell him outright, she was too nervous to do so what with her feelings for him, but she'd find a way.
Likewise Mimosa was silent though her hands were over her mouth and her eyes wide as she tried not to squeal at the news. No one deserved true recognition more than Asta did and after the Grand Magic Games how could he not be named a Wizard Saint, he'd beaten so many talented mages that were at or above Captain level one on one, or even more than one on one at the end, so he more than earned it. She was so happy for the man she loved and was now more determined than ever to get stronger so that she could stand by his side.
Nero meanwhile was as stoic as ever. She was loyal to Asta and would follow him anywhere, she had no doubts that he'd one day become the Wizard King back home, so to her the fact that he'd received this kind of recognition in a place that actually recognized talent wasn't a surprise. In fact, she'd been ready for when it came as she'd been certain that he'd find a way to attain this rank while in Earth Land the moment she learned about the Wizard Saints.
"Come again?" Asta asked as he finally got over his surprise, his voice cutting off the remaining chatter. "I, I'm being offered a spot as a Wizard Saint? Seriously?"
"Yes, there was a vacancy in the ranks that we've been trying to fill for a while now but we'd not found someone suitable for such an honor." Org said with a nod. "So with the return of many strong members of Fairy Tail, along with the rise of Sabertooth during their absence, we decided that we'd allow the Grand Magic Games to play out to see if there was a worthy candidate to fill the vacancy. Admittedly, even though I trusted Yami's words and bet on the Black Bulls based of his faith in his Guild, and the fact that you are a known S-Class Wizard in their ranks, few expected you to emerge as a Wizard Saint candidate. There were others that were expected."
"I don't doubt that." Asta said. "I faced several strong opponents during the Grand Magic Games."
"True and going in we had a few specific names on our shortlist." Org said. "The usual suspects from Sabertooth mainly, their 5 strongest have been on our radar for years due to how they helped Sabertooth rise to the top. Of them Minerva was a strong candidate but after our mistakes with a man called Jose Porla, the former Guild Master of the now disbanded Guild Phantom Lord, we've begun to take personality into account and hers isn't great."
"Tell me about it." Noelle muttered. "She's something else."
"Yes but when you defeated her Ms. Silva it hurt her candidacy beyond recovery as strength is key to being a Wizard Saint." Org said glancing over at her. "Admittedly that was in the Naval Battle where your magic is superior but between you and Asta defeating Minerva again in the Battle Royal her chances of becoming a Wizard Saint were. That and no one knows where she's gone."
"Well I did blast her far enough away that she was deemed to have been knocked out and given what I've seen of her, she's got a lot of pride in her abilities." Noelle said. "So she likely can't stand that she lost twice and is off seething somewhere."
"Perhaps but with her talents that could be a bad thing if she was to go down a dark path so finding her will likely become a priority." Org said. "Anyway, going into the Games Minerva was a potential one even though she wasn't present at the start but not the only one. Asta first got notice with his win in Hidden which included beating Rufus of Sabertooth in an event he wasn't expected to lose. Then there was Erza Scarlet's display in Pandemonium, Natsu Dragneel's win over the Twin Dragons of Sabertooth, and Laxus Dreyer's win over Raven Tail that revealed their cheating and illegal schemes. All strong points to notice and a sign that Fairy Tail was back given how many of them distinguished themselves during the Games."
"All of those are talented fighters though I can only attest to two personally." Asta said respect in his voice. "So I'm not surprised that they were on the shortlist."
"All were strong and Erza and Laxus are Fairy Tail S-Class Wizards which is a big deal given how hard that status is to achieve in that Guild." Org said. "So both gained consideration due to that and their past actions prior to their disappearances. On top of that, Laxus gained a lot of heavy consideration when he defeated Jura in the Battle Royale. Defeating a Wizard Saind is a strong case to become one but several of my colleagues felt that his personality wasn't suited to it."
"That and Asta defeated his ass." Yami said as he exhaled some smoke and speaking for the first time though he'd been as surprised as the rest of them at the offer that Org had extended to Asta on behalf of the Magic Council. "Pretty spectacularly in fact."
"Yes that was a big note for everyone, Laxus beat Jura and Asta beat him in turn but the wounds both had suffered up to that point were taken into account." Org said. "And in the end it was the source of those wounds that was the deciding factor. Asta's that is."
"Source?" Mimosa asked. "You mean…"
"Yes, Asta's victory over Erza Scarlet when both were at near full strength and right after Erza had emerged as the strongest woman in Fiore with a clear win over Kagura, who was another Wizard Saint candidate, was the real focal point." Org confirmed. "And that was just prior to whatever happened between him and Sting and his final confrontation with three members of Fairy Tail that secured the Grand Magic Games for you which was also noted. That duel though, that was the defining moment of the entire Games because it essentially decided the winner. We all watched it; it's a duel that is already lore in Fiore and the legend of it will only grow over the years."
"It was certainly one hell of a duel." Asta said grinning at the memory. "Could have gone either way in the end but I surpassed my limits and won which was what I needed to do to keep our hopes of victory alive. I can't thank Erza enough for that. Laxus too, I could have fallen then as well and we'd have lost."
"That's what I expect out of all my Guild members, and myself naturally." Yami said with a nod. "It was an inspiring fight to witness."
"That it was." Org said. "And that battle ensured that Asta would be offered this spot amongst the 10 Wizard Saints. Beating Laxus at the end only cemented it as it removed any lingering doubts that the Magic Council might have over Asta's qualifications for the honor."
"About those, when will you be selling the recordings of the final battle." Yami said recalling that Org had hinted at this earlier and he wanted some confirmation on that front. "Because I am expecting a cut, for the Black Bulls of course."
"Naturally, the pre orders are already out and we've got staff working around the clock to make the copies of the recording so that it can be sold." Org said. "The participants of the Battle Royale will all get one for free, that will be the first batch, and then the sales will be available. The whole battle proceeds will be divided between the Magic Council, the Kingdom, and the Guilds that participated in the Battle Royale, while the battle specific ones will be split between the members of the battle instead of the Guilds. Rest assured, Asta's duel with Erza has the longest waitlist."
"Good." Yami said. "Alright then, what about it kid? You going to accept the offer."
"I, well…" Asta began as he thought.
"Don't think Dorksta, just take it." Noelle said causing Asta to look at her and she flushed but she pressed on even though she couldn't meet his eye. "You've earned it after what you did. Besides, this is the kind of responsibility that you might encounter as Wizard King when we return to our home continent one day and you'll need experience for when that happens."
"Noelle's right, this is good practice for when we get back." Mimosa said. "Plus you do deserve it after all you've done."
"Just take it already." Nero said bluntly. "You will be the Wizard King, Asta, this is just a step towards that goal."
"Yeah man, this is all yours." Magna said grinning. "Plus it's so manly that you're going to be a Wizard Saint."
"Do it, I can't wait to fight a Wizard Saint." Luck added. "Well another one as I got to fight Jura a bit."
"You earned it kiddo." Vanessa said. "So you deserve to accept it."
"I knew my best friend would achieve great things." Gordon said. "I never doubted you once."
"A, Asta you've should a, accept." Grey stuttered out. "It, it will h, help your c, confidence."
"It will make Marie happy but don't think that means you can be with her when she grows up." Gauche said. "I just intend to tell her how I helped you so she knows how amazing her big brother is."
"Asta earned this." Henry said.
"Come on accept already so we can throw a feast for it!" Charmy shouted.
"Think of the ladies this will get you, and by extension me." Finral said getting a glare of anger from Noelle and one of worry from Mimosa. "Wait no I only want Lady Finnes."
"Of course you'd get an offer like this you loudmouthed brat." Zora said. "But I knew you were something else so I'm not surprised. Just accept already and be done with it."
"Go on kid." Yami said. "You said you'd be the Wizard King so this is just a trial run for that as you now know what it takes to reach the top here. It's yours to take."
"Thanks everyone." Asta said smiling at his friends before turning to Org. "I accept but, er, what do I need to do to make this official?"
"Thank you, I will relay this to the Council but for now you don't need to do anything." Org said. "It's merely a title that is bestowed upon the 10 of the strongest mages on Ishgar. We will of course need to call upon you in times of great or dire need and there will be other things that as a Wizard Saint will be expected but for now go about your business as usual. We will make the formal announcement once I convey your acceptance to the Chairman of the Magic Council."
"Well then this is a cause for celebration in addition to our victory." Yami said with a grin. "You staying Org? Charmy's food is something you don't want to miss and we've got some good booze as well."
"Yes, I'll server you the best we've got." Vanessa said seductively. "It's the least we can do after the news you brought."
"Alas no, I must get back to the Magic Council with this news so that we can put things in motion on our end but I do have a final thing that is not official." Org said shaking his head and trying not to look at Vanessa as he reached into his robes, pulled out a letter, and handed it over to Yami. "An old friend and former colleague of mine asked me to deliver this to you as he couldn't find you himself. That's not surprising given the transient nature of your Guild Hall and how only the Magic Council is appraised of it's location when it is stationary per our rules. As such there was no other way to contact you so the writer reached out to his friend who relayed it to me."
"Complicated." Yami said as he took the letter and noted that it was addressed to him. "Well let's see what it is. If it's of any importance or interest then it may be easier to sell the writer a com device to avoid any convoluted delivery attempts."
"Probably but beyond me as I'm just the relay in this instance." Org said as he turned to leave. "I'll see you around Yami and keep an eye on that money, it's a lot."
"I will, pleasure doing business with you Org." Yami said as Org left. "Now let's see who this is from and what he or she wants with me."
Yami said the last part to himself as he went to his usual seat in the common room while the celebration began with the food flooding in from Charmy's Sheep Cooks that had clearly been on standby waiting for the moment to entire and the booze flowing freely. They had cause to do so and Yami smiled as he pulled out the letter and read it.
Yami,
I apologize for the round about way that this has reached you, we should have figured out a way to avoid this back in Crocus but there was a lot to distract us while we were there. We will have to rectify this and I've got the perfect opportunity to do so. You see, as part of our reward from the King for our efforts in ending the dragon attack, you may have beaten us in the Grand Magic Games but we ended that threat, has kindly funded the rebuilding, refurbishing, and improvements to our original Guild Hall in Magnolia and the city has returned it to us.
As such, we intend to break it in with a good old fashioned party that only Fairy Tail can throw and what better way to do so than to invite the Guild that topped us to it to celebrate our good fortunes, victories, and the bonds of friendship that we are forging. Well all that and sizing up our rivals after all because we don't intend to lose to you next year. I know that Julius would want this for us and already my children are eager for it so I invite you and the Black Bulls to Magnolia to celebrate with us.
I hope that you can make it and look forward to your response so we can coordinate properly. Finally, we do need to chat alone, I have a way of contacting Julius and I am sure that he'll have an update on the situation in your world for you by the time the party roles that he'll want me to relay to you.
Makarov, 3rd, and 6th Guild Master of Fairy Tail.
Yami blinked at the letter, it was surprisingly well written, better than what he'd have done, but apparently all those apology letters that Makarov had been forced to write over the years had come in handy after all. Anyway, while there were things that Yami could argue about in the letter, mainly that he and Asta would have destroyed the Eclipse Gate eventually if Natsu hadn't crashed a dragon into it though with more damage to the Palace in the process, he couldn't deny that the invite was genuine and he was looking forward to it. Of course he'd have to ask the knuckleheads but he was certain they'd agree.
"Hey everyone!" Yami shouted and when that didn't work he tried again and when that also failed he went for the tried and true method of punching out the wall behind him with his magic to get their attention, which it instantly did and they all looked at him from their celebrations. "This letter here is an invite from Fairy Tail to a party at their Guild Hall. It seems that they've had their original Guild Hall returned to them, as well as having it upgraded in the process, and they want to celebrate that. They've decided to invite us to join them in their celebration. So what do you say? Shall we show those fairies how bulls party?"
As Yami spoke he was waving the latter in his hand but stopped as soon as he was done. It didn't take long for the Black Bulls to react.
"Let's do it!" Asta shouted. "They're good fun, the few I've spoken too at least, and they were the Wizard King's Guild while he was here so we should get to know them!"
"Well they did invite us." Noelle said in her usual tone as she flicked one of her pigtails. "It would be rude to turn them down. Plus we do need to get to know them better."
"Yes, they seem like a good bunch." Mimosa said smiling. "And one is a healer, I'd like to get to know her a bit and see what her magic is like."
"Whatever the case, this will be entertaining." Nero noted. "So I'll enjoy the show if nothing else."
"Hell yeah let's do it!" Magna said. "They're a real manly bunch! It's going to be epic! Let's show them how we get down!"
"Plus they like a good scrap so I'll get a few brawls in." Luck said excitedly punching the air. "Just like at that Grand Ball."
"And all their lovely ladies to talk to." Finral said before he let out a wail. "No wait I only have eyes for Lady Finnes! Bad Finral, don't think of the Fairy Tail women like that even if they're lovely!"
"Well it is their party so they will provide the booze I presume, can't say no to that." Vanessa said. "I wonder if any can keep up with me though, that will be interesting to see."
"So many new friends to make." Gordan said happily. "I can't wait."
"None are Marie." Gauche said. "So I'm not interested though one sounds like her which is good enough for the moment."
"I, I want to try to be more social." Grey admitted. "But I am nervous about this and all the new people that will be there."
"They'd better have some good food." Charmy said. "Can't party without food."
"This will be amusing at least given the morons on both sides." Zora said with a chuckle. "Though the girl that sounds like Nero and can change like Asta is a bit scary."
"Will there be space for me?" Henry asked.
"I'll make sure of it Henry." Yami said his voice cutting off anymore chatter. "Alright then, sounds like we're going. I'll reply to Makarov and send Finral with the reply to sort things out, as well as to sell them a communications device tied to mine to make things easier to coordinate with them. That and a portal to their Guild Hall will be of use in the future, I'm sure of it."
There was a cheer at that, even Finral didn't mind as this was to set up a party, and from there the Black Bulls' celebration really kicked off. Yami just smiled at his Squad as they celebrated and he sorted out the reply to Makarov accepting the Fairy Tail Guild Master's invite. This was what Julius wanted after all and he wouldn't lie, he was looking forward to it as well. There was no doubt in his mind that it would be fun and a great way to kickstart the forging of the bond between the Black Bulls and Fairy Tail, a bond that in time would have the potential to shake worlds.
I think that's a good place to end this chapter on, a bit abrupt but there really isn't anything else to say. The Black Bulls are on top, the requests, jobs, and orders are flooding in and now Asta is a Wizard Saint so things are really looking up for them in Earth Land and now it's time for the big moment, the full meeting of the Black Bulls and Fairy Tail. What chaos will ensue from that only time will tell so stay tuned as the long awaited moment is on the horizon. That is all that I have for y'all, however, so I will leave this chapter off here.
