Chapter three- the girls
The Governor's POV
Locating both the girls and the supplies proved to be a welcome surprise. One looked to be around seventeen or eighteen. While the older one was probably about twenty-six.
Finding them would inject excitement into Woodbury. Both were pretty girls with blonde hair and blue eyes. The oldest one from first glance looked slightly further examination, I understood her extra weight was because of pregnancy.
Dr. Stevens confirmed the obvious as I placed my hand on her stomach and felt the baby kicking inside her. Currently, the unconscious pregnant woman was in my apartment. Although Dr. Stevens didn't approve of treating her patient in my apartment, I was enjoying having her in bed for the time being.
She spent her first night in Woodbury with me. I spent about twenty minutes washing this woman off with some warm water and soap. Her nipples are instantly hard with the touch of the warm washcloth. I had good intentions washing her body. But seeing her naked, lying there like that, I couldn't resist. I find myself removing my clothes, covering her with my naked body. No need for protection, I think, knowing she is already pregnant.
After I finished inside of her, I continued bathing her with warm water and soap. I put a large brown colored overshirt on her and new red underwear. Putting new pants on her was slightly more difficult, but I managed. Dr. Stevens returned just as I finished getting dressed. I opened the door, letting her into my apartment.
"I am here to check on the patient," she says, walking towards the girl.
"How is the other girl?" I asked, thinking about the younger one.
"Amy is fine. But is concerned for her pregnant sister Andrea," Dr. Stevens says, explaining the woman in my bed. I could see the disapproval Dr. Stevens had in her eyes. She knew what I had done.
"So her name is Andrea. That is really pretty," I said, softly touching her face.
Somehow, my hand on her face woke her up. It was a mystery why she had been in a state of unconsciousness for days.
"Where am I?" she asked Dr. Stevens.
"You are in Woodbury. We brought you here for safety. I was just checking your blood pressure," she says, remaining calm.
"Where is my sister? Why are you holding us here?" She says, almost jumping from the bed.
"My men and I found you two out in the woods. You were near death, and I intervened," I declared, my eyes fixed on hers.
"In your condition, rest is sure you eat something," Dr. Stevens instructed, looking at her as he left us alone.
"She's probably a doctor," she commented, adjusting her position on the bed.
"Yes, that is Dr. Stevens. Let's follow her directions and get you food," I said, standing and going to the kitchen.
"Where is my sister? Who are you? Why am I in your apartment?" She says, her hand on her tummy.
"Your sister is at the hospital. I'll let you see her in the morning. I am the Governor and you are here to rest. My bed is more comfortable than a hospital bed and I have been watching you. Just waiting for you to wake up. I am going to cook you some pancakes and eggs," I said, leaving her even more confused.
"How did I end up at your apartment?" She inquires while I prepare her meal. I cook as quickly as possible, noticing again how pretty she is.
"I wanted you here," I said, handing a plate of food. "Your condition is special. There aren't many pregnant women around."
She slowly takes a few bites, clearly concerned by my words. I watched as she sipped her a glass of milk.
"So you want the baby?" she asked, somehow reading my mind.
"I like the idea of being a father, but unfortunately, my daughter died after a biter attacked her. When I saw you, I felt I could care for this child, so I brought you to my apartment. I said, touching her stomach, 'Once the baby is born, I plan on taking care of him or her.'"
"My sister and I were going to look after the baby. I don't know how I feel about someone taking him or her away from me," she said nervously. I watched as she finished eating most of her food. No doubt she was starving.
"I'll take your plate to the sink. You don't have to go anywhere. After the baby is born, she'll need to eat. You can stay here and breastfeed the baby," I whispered.
"My name is Andrea, and my baby has a father. His name is Shane Walsh," she said defensively, "and you don't need to take care of my baby."
"I understand, Andrea. However, it's highly unlikely that you'll ever see Shane again. It would be like finding a needle in a haystack," I said, as I moved closer to her on the bed.
"I'll take my chances," she said, tensing under my touch.
"You wouldn't last another day out there in your condition. You need a solid night's sleep. After you've had some rest and thought it over, I think you'll see that Woodbury is the safest option for you and the baby. I will be back in a few hours. Get some rest, Andrea," I whispered, running my fingers through her blonde hair. Getting up from the bed, I am ready to depart, leaving her alone.
Before I left I witnessed her shedding tears into a pillow, but I was confident that she would eventually realize that she and her baby were destined to be mine.
