Chapter 6 The School of Hard Knocks

I don't own Pokemon or Yugioh

Yuto and the group walked forward down the road and it was foggy.

"Where did this fog come from?" Yuto said.

"I don't know." Misty said. "But I can barely see."

"How about you gather firewood and i'll prepare lunch." Brock suggested.

Yuto nods.

Misty goes to check the other side and sees a couple of students testing another on a treadmil.

"Alright, what's the name of this one?" The one in front of the treadmill running student questions bringing up a flashcard.

"Is it a Zubat?" The one on the treadmill questions.

"Listen just because its foggy out here doesn't mean your brain has to be in a fog." The green haired one said. The treadmill kid looks down a bit before looking back up.

"It's a Pidgey." He said.

"Nice guess. You just got lucky." The red head said.

"Okay. Now tell us what its special attack is?" Green hair said.

"Pidgey's attack is Gust. At Level 5, Sand Attack, at level 12-" But he cuts off.

"Everyone knows that. Now can you just tell me at which level Pidgey evolves and what's the name of Pidgey's Advanced stage?" Red hair said.

"Um" Treadmill kid thinks.

"You better come up with answers quick or you'll have to run faster." Green hair taunts. The kid keeps running as he thinks but then he trips and fall off.

"Hey knock it off." Misty goes to face them.

"Mind your own business." One said.

"What's going on here?" Yuto came making the bullies flinch seeing the glare and scar on his face.

"It's a private training session."

"There's no room in our Pokémon School for losers who don't even know Pidgey's evolved stage." The green haired said.

"And forcing him to do that. You are just a bunch of bullies." Yuto said.

"That's right Yuto, you wouldn't mind facing them." Misty said.

The guys grinned.

Yuto counts and smirks. "Yes. It will be simple."

"We don't fight." The red haired said

"Fighting is for cavemen. This isn't the stone age." Green haired said.

"And if we wasted our time having a fight with a little insect like you, it'd just make Pokémon Tech look bad." The long haired one said.

Yuto chuckles. "Oh really. Well I don't have to waste time for cowards either."

This angers them

The group leaves and Yuto helps other guy up. "Hey you okay?"

"Y-yeah." He said.

"Why do you let them pick on you?" Yuto said.

"My friends are trying to help me." He said

"You call them your friends." Yuto said and Brock came hearing what's going on.

"With friends like that who needs enemies." Brock said.

"Why do you even hang out with guys like that?" Yuto said.

"But they helped me learn that Pidgey evolved to Pidgetto at level 18, it learns Whirlwind at level 21, Wing attack at level 31, and as its level rises it learns various tricks. After Evolving to Pidgeot, it can fly at 1200 meters and speeds of up to Mach 12." He said.

"Where are you from anyway?" Yuto said.

"From Pokémon Tech." He said. "Oh my name is Joe."

"I'm Yuto."

"I'm Misty."

"And i'm Brock."

"Nice to meet you." Joe said.

"So what's this Pokémon Tech?" Yuto said.

"Pokémon Tech. I think it's short for Pokémon Technical, a school for Pokémon trainers. I know I had flier here somewhere. Yeah, here it is." Brock pulls out a flyer for it.

Yuto and Misty checked it.

"Hm, let's see what it says here about the place. "Pokémon Technical Institute. A boarding school for serious Pokémon trainer preparation. All students guaranteed to enter Pokémon league upon graduation. Pokémon Technical is the educational facility for exceptional students who want to become Pokémon trainers in a very short time without having to travel on difficult badge-collecting journeys." Oh, so that's the story." Brock reads off while leaning on the treadmill.

"Gain entry without traveling. If they were in my region they would have been eaten alive." Yuri said.

"What?" Joe questions in surprise.

"I'm from a different region, nobody uses this." Yuto told him.

"A different Region? Which one?" Joe asks.

"One you never heard. But where is this school?"

Just then the fog clears up revealing the school

"Oh there it is."

"What a coincidence." Misty said.

They went forward to check

Yuto then looks at Joe with a question.

"Why do people even choose to come here?"

"Well beginners have the same qualifications as someone with two badges, the intermediate class has the qualifications of four, and advanced students have the same as six. If you graduate, you can enter the Pokémon League without traveling around to collect the badges." Joe said before pointing at another student that was older than all of them. "That guy's a beginner, but he's so much older than everybody in the class, the kids don't bother to help him like they help me."

"Who's in charge of all of this stuff?"

"Hm, here's a picture." Joe shows them a picture of a pretty girl.

"It's a girl?" Misty questions.

Brock smiles. "She's really pretty."

Yuto sighs and has more self control. "And her name?"

"Giselle." Joe said.

"Hey! If she's making your life so miserable, how come you're carrying her picture around?" Misty questions.

"I hate the way she treats us but I like the way she looks." Joe said.

Yuto falls down hearing that.

"Seriously?" Misty questions incredulously

He got up. "We really need to have a long talk."

"Talk or battle?" Misty questions.

"I have to talk with him." He pointed.

"A talk?" Joe questions.

"So where can we talk in private?"

"Where they store the Pokéballs." Joe said.

Joe shows them the way.

After getting there they see tons of Pokeballs.

"Why do you keep going here? Theres nothing that you can learn from just reading." Yuto said.

"But Giselle is the top beginner here at the tech. That's better than even having three badges. Even though I'm at the bottom of my class, I'm still more powerful than someone with two badges." Joe counters.

Misty got offended.

"Argh! Hold on a second here. I learned how to be a Pokémon trainer at the Cerulean City Gym. Are you saying you can beat me?" Misty questions with a angry tone.

"Oh, Cerulean City. Water Pokémon." Joe said.

"How'd you know?" Misty questions.

"I always beat them on the simulator. See?" Joe pulls up a simulator with him using a Weepinbell against a Starmie which can be a even match since Starmie is a Water/Psychic type and Weepinbell is a Grass/Poison type so if Starmie has even one Psychic move then it has a chance besides having a higher level, stats, and more.

"A computer." Yuto frowns

"A simulation's one thing but this is real life. Let's battle." Misty said.

"You'll be sorry." Joe said beingg confident.

They went to a more open spot and both called out they're Pokémon.

"I have the Cerulean City Gym's reputation to defend and I'm going to defend it. Misty calls Starmie!" Misty calls out Starmie but as this was happening Giselle comes in.

"Too bad your water Pokémon won't be able to beat my plant. All right, Weepinbell, let's go." Joe throws out a Weepinbell

"Bell." It said.

"I'll teach him about Pokémon. Starmie, go!" Misty said. Starmie fires a Water Gun attack at Weepinbell blasting it away.

"Huh? Oh, but Weepinbell is strong against water Pokémon." Joe said in disbelief that he lost so easily.

"True, but there's one thing you didn't know. Your opponent's from the Cerulean City Gym. Her Pokémon has much more experience battling. You should've known that. You've an embarrassment to the whole school." Giselle said. She came with those bullies from before.

"I'm the top student in the beginning class of the most exclusive prep school in the world, Pokémon Tech. It's sad that others aren't blessed with my beauty, my talent, my humble attitude. People call me a star but I'm just Giselle." She introduces herself to the others.

Misty and Yuto stared at her dramatic entrance while Joe looks down feeling bad.

"I want to continue to help my classmates be the very best they can be. To teach each other, respect each other, and insure the Pokémon of tomorrow. But you're a weaking." Giselle said.

"Uh." Joe looks down

"You'd better get stronger fast or before you know it, your fellow students will turn their backs on you for good. Hmm." She said making Misty and Yuto angry.

"Not so fast. A true friend wouldn't walk away from someone who needs their help. You may look beautiful but you remind me of and old saying about how beauty's only skin deep." Misty said angrily.

"Heh, jealousy's not very pretty either, is it?" She mocks Misty.

"Show her how it is Misty." Yuto said.

"Oh I will." Misty said confident. They then went to a pool.

Yuto looks around as it seems Giselle picked this spot for a reason.

Giselle then picks up a Pokeball.

Against your water Pokémon, I'll choose... Graveler. Go!" Giselle sends out a Graveler. Brock and Misty was surprised at this choice.

"Graveler? But rock Pokémon are weak against water Pokémon." Brock said.

"But my Pokémon are at such an advanced level, they can beat water Pokémon." Giselle said confidently

Yuto frowns at the arrogance.

Graveler jumps out at Starmie but Starmie also jumps out of the way. Starmie fires a water gun at Graveler who roll jumps through it and hits Starmie into the pool.

"I can't believe it." Misty said stunned in disbelief. a bit later Misty hugs Starmie after getting it out of the pool.

"Now we're by the pool, your Pokémon's specialty. You can use a different water Pokémon if you want." Giselle said.

"Oh, and I'm sure you'll choose another Pokémon that's weak against water." Misty scowls.

"Pokémon are only as strong as the trainer who raises them. A Pokémon that's weaker but better-trained can still win. It depends on the trainer. I hope you're learning something from this, Joe. A Pokémon's level of training is just as important a factor as a Pokémon's type in deciding a match. A first-class Pokémon trainer can calculate that." Giselle said.

Yuto crosses his arms. "Theres more factors for a Pokemon battle than simply stats."

"Who are you?" Giselle questions.

She looks at Yuto and blushes a bit at his handsome face but controls it.

"I am Yuto, and I am a trainer that has traveled far."

"From where?" She asks.

"From another region."

"What is the name of it?" Giselle asks.

"You never heard of it."

"Try me." Giselle said.

"Heartland."

"Heartland?" Giselle thinks for a moment.

She couldn't figure it out.

"Because we don't advertise our land. So we are more unique."

"But why not?" Giselle questions confused.

"We prefer to keep our Pokémon safe from the Evil teams."

"Ah." She said in understanding.

"But one thing I don't accept is a bunch of jerks that think that they're better than others for going to this school. You can never know what it means to make a bond with books. So i'll show you guys what it means to be a real Pokémon trainer." Yuto declared.

"Then prove it." She said.

"Okay." He takes out a Pokeball. "You don't mind Misty."

"Destroy her." She said.

"Good, come Panther Warrior." He throws his Pokeball as Panther Warrior appeared roaring.

"Panther Warrior?" Giselle questions never hearing about this one before.

"You thought you knew every Pokémon. Looks like this school doesn't have the best info."

Giselle scowls at his insult to her school.

"Go Cubone!" She calls out a Cubone.

"Cubone!" it calls out.

Panther growls at the Cubone. This made Cubone get a bit scared at this.

"Use Secret Sword." Yuto said.

Panther Warrior raises his sword as it glows.

"Use Bone Club!" Giselle quickly orders

He swings it but Panther Warrior strikes the club to the side.

"Cubone!" It cries out in worry.

"Now use Sacred Sword!"

Panther Warrior's sword glows again as it slashes Cubone.

It sent him next to Giselle defeated and he cries.

"Oh no Cubone!" Giselle goes to comfort it.

"It seems you didn't train him properly. As Panther Warrior was too much." Yuto said.

"He beat her?!" Several of her fans exclaim in shock.

"That's right." He looks at the bullies. "If you think you had a shot. You wouldn't have made it pass one single of my Pokémon."

"He has to be bluffing." One said.

"Oh you want to face him?" He points at Panther.

Panther Warrior lets out a loud and fierce war.

They stepped back scared

"I can't believe I lost a match." Giselle said but then smoke starts to appear.

"What?" Yuto said.

"Allow us to reintroduce ourselvess." They hear two familiar voices say as they see two figures in the smoke before it clears up enough to reveal Team Rocket!

"To protect the world from devastation." Jessie starts.

"To unite all peoples within our nation." Jamess said next while holding a rose.

"To denounce the evils of truth and love." Jessie said.

"To extend our reach to the stars above." James said.

"Jessie."

"James."

"Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light." Jessie said.

"Surrender now or prepare to fight. James said.

"Meowth!" Meowth falls from the sky and into the pool before jumping out and posing next to James and Jessie. "I love a splashy entrance."

"I've heard of Team Rocket. You're the ones who got the worst grades ever on the entrance exam. How about your team versus our team?" Giselle questions.

"Yeah. Yeah." One said.

Yuto sits back to watch this,

The students all pull out their Pokeballs. The human members of Team Rocket get scared.

"The two of us against all of them?" Jessie questions with a sweatdrop.

"But the rules say one on one!" James tries to save his team

They threw them making Team Rocket get hit as they ran off.

"Looks like Team Rocket is blasting off again!"

Later

Giselle was sitting near the edge of the pool and Joe came up to her.

"There are some things you can't learn in school and that's a good lesson." She said watching the sunset.

"I'm going to become a real Pokémon trainer like Yuto." Joe said.

"Maybe we'll meet in the Pokémon League."

Giselle nodded. "I'm also curious about that unique region."

"Same." Joe said.

Yuto passes by with his group. "Well see ya later."

"See you." Joe said back.

Giselle looks at Yuto and smiles and he waves at her, that made her blush a bit and she looks away.

Yuto goes with Misty and Brock as they traveled again for the league.
