Clary was sitting in the same spot; this time she knew for sure it was a dream. She shivered, standing slowly, her mind swirling. Was Jace going to show up again? She couldn't shake the desperation even if she tried. A bright light flashed, and then Magnus was standing next to her.

"Hello Clary." He tipped his head to the side, and she let out a watery sob. This was real, she knew it to the bones. Did that mean that Jace was truly alive, that Jonathan had somehow tricked her before, with that head?

"Magnus?" She asked in confusion and his lips turned up in a small grin, she wrapped her arms around herself, suddenly feeling sick. He lunged forward, placing his arms around her upper arms to keep her upright.

"Does that mean Jace is alive?" Her voice felt small as he looked at her with sadness reflecting back.

"Clary, look at me, we don't have a lot of time." He didn't answer her question; her mind was still spinning.

"Please Magnus," She begged softly, her hands coming to grip his shirt.

"Yes, Clary, he is alive." He said and she felt the air rush from her lungs before he was helping her sit on the bench behind them.

"Focus Clary, we can't save you until we can take away Jonathan's invincibility." He said and she took a thick swallow, nodding her head, trying to stay focused. She couldn't let herself feel the relief of Jace being alive just yet, that could come later.

"What can I do?" She asked softly, feeling weak. She was the shell of her former self, what could she possibly do it help?

"Jonathan has the protection of a demon coating. There isn't much on it, I can't figure out how to rid him of it." He paused and she titled her head to the side, waiting for him to finish. "I was thinking, perhaps you would be able to create a rune that could render the coating useless." He said and she blinked rapidly a few times.

Her brain felt foggy, she had been in herself induced isolation for so long, she felt sluggish as she tried to conjure something up.

"I don't know if I can Magnus." She cried out a moment later, a heavy sigh coming to her lips. She felt so helpless, lost and alone. She didn't think she had the strength any longer.

"Look at me, Clary Fray." Magnus said deeply and she pulled her eyes from her lap, to look at the warlock sitting next to her.

"Yes, you can, I know you can. Look how strong you are. You have survived what I am sure is the worst year of your life, with someone that should have loved and protected you. Instead, they hurt you more than anyone ever has." Her eyes watered as she listened to him.

"You are more than you think you are. Strong, brave and resilient. There are so many people out there who love you, who haven't stopped looking for you." The tears finally fell, and she sobbed loudly as she thought about how wrecked Jace must have been, looking for her all this time. She had mourned him, the regret from their last time together eating her up inside. Only to find out he was alive and looking for her. She quickly wiped the tears from her cheeks, thinking about Jace. His smile, how fiercely he loved. She could do this.

She took in one shaky breath as closed her eyes, pulling from somewhere deep within her that she had thought she had lost forever. She felt warm and tingly as her brain conjured an image.

"Paper, pencil, Magnus." She breathed out without opening her eyes. They were handed to her silently and she blinked open her eyes long enough to start sketching.

"Perfect Clary." She heard him whisper as she finished.

"I don't have access to a Stele." She told him and he nodded.

"Now that we have this, we can break the wards on his house. We will do all the hard work, Clary. Tomorrow night, try and hide when the force field falls." She nodded and opened her mouth, about to ask him to tell Jace she loved him, when she felt a pull.

"Noooo." She cried as she was forced back into the land of the living. She gasped, loudly, sitting up in bed. It took her a beat longer than it should have to realize that Jonathan's head was buried in her cunt, licking and sucking her like his lift depended on it.

She cried out again, arching her back, her hand flying to his head, trying to push him away.

"You like that baby?" He asked, kissing on her thighs, before he went back to her clit, sucking and teasing her. She whimpered and shuttered as he pressed two of his fingers into her.

"You taste fucking delicious." He groaned after a while, and she was doing everything in her power not to let the feeling wash over her. She said nothing, as she had been doing for a while, and he eventually got tired. He roughly flipped her over until she was on her hands and knees, he positioned himself behind her, before sinking his thick cock into her.

"Fuck Clary, always so tight for me." He groaned out as he pressed in deeper, until his hips were slotted against her bum. He grabbed her hips with a harsh grip, and started a relentless pace of fucking into her, while she squeezed her eyes closed, fisting the sheets in her hands.

All she could think about was the dream, what she had created for Magnus. Maybe this was finally going to end, yet something deep in her soul wouldn't let her feel hope. There were so many times she had thought maybe she could escape this, his voice in her head reminded her over and over again, that she was never escaping him.

Once his thrusts started getting sloppy, she knew that he was almost done. He stilled against her, and she felt him pulse inside of her. He groaned as he slowly pulled out of her. She was sick to her stomach as she flopped down onto the bed. He curled around her, resting his hand on her slightly protruding stomach.

Neither of them said a word as they laid together, all Clary could do was try and settle her rapidly beating heat and try not to hope too much for a rescue that might never come.

"We need to go now; she created the damn rune, Alec!" Jace seethed at his best friend, not understanding what the holdup was.

"Calm down Jace." He demanded in his authoritative voice. Jace felt the opposite of calm as he rapidly ran his hand through his hair.

"How can I relax when I know where Clary is, and we have the means to stop that bastard!" He shouted and Alec flinched at the intensity. Jace took a shaky breath, bracing his hands on the back of the chair in front of him.

"I get that Jace, but we need to go in prepared. We aren't kids anymore; there is more at risk then just us." His voice was soft and Jace knew deep in his heart that his parabatai was right. He nodded slowly.

"I know you're right; it's just hard Alec; you didn't see her." His voice cracked with emotion as he thought about how Clary looked when he stepped into her dream all those nights ago. Alec stepped forward, pulling him into a tight embrace.

"I know Jace, I know." He whispered as he broke down in his best friend's arms.

The next twenty-four hours were the longest in Jace's life, as he waited for reinforcement to come. Watching Isabelle step out of that portal, looking more like Maryse than ever before, had him choked up slightly.

"Jace!" Izzy said and Jace pulled her into a tight hug.

"Let's get our girl back." She whispered and he shook as he nodded into her neck.

No one was taking any chances, not with how much destruction and death Jonathan had caused. He might have been stagnant the last few months, but they knew the danger he brought. He must be stopped at all costs. Every single Shadowhunter that was going in had been debriefed on the rune that Clary had made, so that even if Jonathan took some of them out, there was always someone who could do it.

Jace's only mission was Clary. He was instructed to get her out. That was it, and for once he was going to listen. He didn't care about Jonathan any longer, his death was imminent. All he wanted, no all he needed, was to make sure Clary was okay.

When the clock struck, they all stood in their battle gear, loaded down with weapons. Hundreds of them, as they waited for Magnus and his fellow warlocks to let down the shields.

"Everyone ready?" Magnus shouted, and on the count of three it was done. A scream tore from several lips as they all charged forward, ready to exact revenge for their loved ones.

Clary was shaking, she could feel the moment the shield fell. It was dark, and she was dressed in only a long shirt that hit her knees. She had been in bed, like she was most days, Jonathan was suddenly in the room, pressing his face to the glass of the window.

"Fuck, Clary." He looked at her with wild, panicked eyes. He had been slacking the last few months, her being his only objective, no longer caring about dark Shadowhunters or his original task. He didn't have an army; he didn't have any demons. He only had himself, and her she supposed.

He took a step towards her as she heard the battle cry, they locked eyes.

"Don't you fucking move." He growled, before he darted from the room. She of course, didn't listen to a word as she was up and out of the bed like a shot. Finding pants, and socks, before scampering into the bathroom. Shutting the door (there was no lock) and hiding in the tub, her arms wrapped around her knees, shaking in fear.

She shuttered hearing clanking and screaming and all-out war going on outside the little safe haven she was hiding in. What if he won, what if in the end this was all for nothing? What if he killed everyone, and there was nothing left but her and him?

With out warning, the bathroom door opened, and she looked up panicked, before Jace was in her view.

"Clary?" He whispered and she cried out and he was rushing to her side, pulling her from the tub and into his arms.

"Clary!" His voice came out raspy, as he pulled her deeply into his chest.

"We need to go now." He demanded and she shuddered as he pulled a Stele from his pocket.

"Make us a portal Clary." The way he said it sent a shiver down her spine as she grasped the pencil-like object in her hand. She took a breath, feeling power reverberate down her arm, tingling in a way she hadn't felt in ages, in a way she never thought she would feel again.

She waved her hand almost shakily, weaving the rune into existence. He took her hand in his own, before taking a step forward.

"Think of home Clary." He whispered, and she closed her eyes, tears falling down her cheeks as they both took the leap into the blue swirling circle.

When she opened her eyes, she was in her apartment. The one she had lived in with her mother, long before finding out she was a Shadowhunter.

"Clary!" Her mother's voice was choked as she stepped forward, pulling her into an embrace.

"Mom?" She whispered, Jonathan had also told her, her mother was dead. She should have known he was lying. Simon came next, then Luke. Jace joined a moment later, and then she was wrapped around everyone that she loved, she was home.

Five years later

"Daddy!" She heard her daughter yelling from across the room. Jace was home from a mission.

"Sweetie!" Jace said as he closed the door to their home behind him, it shut with a small snap. She smiled as she watched their daughter jump into her father's arms. It was healing to see how close they were, how despite everything her daughter was so wonderful, even if she came from something so traumatizing.

Jace didn't hesitate to take ownership of the baby in her stomach, all those years ago. He was the dad, point blank period. It didn't matter to him that she came from Jonathan, she was always his.

It took a long time, years really, to create something that even slightly resembled normal. Her and Jace got married before their daughter was born, but it took her years to ever be intimate with him. Lots of therapy, for both of them. They had both been traumatized by Jonathan.

In the end, Jonathan had fought hard, killed many, but he was taken down quickly with the rune Clary had created. She heard from others that he had screaming for her as the end came for him. It made her sick to her stomach when she thought about it, but she also felt peace knowing she created what finally ended him.

"How was your day darling." Jace asked holding their little girl in his arms as he stepped over to her, pressing a kiss to her forehead.

"Wonderful." She said as he placed a hand on her stomach. She was pregnant. She had vowed to never let this happen to her again, but it felt so different to be pregnant by choice this time.

"And how's this little one?" He asked, and their daughter giggled in his arms.

"He's fine." She said and Jace grinned, standing up straighter to press a kiss to her lips.

"Good."

Life wasn't perfect, but it was theirs and she couldn't have been happier.
