Once they get back, Zane calls everyone together.

Lloyd looks around at the long faces, and Cole's particularly is full of rage. "How'd it go? Did the scan find something?"

"The scan was clear." says Zane. "Your assessment that the hospital wouldn't help was correct, and your decision to bring him back here may have saved his life."

"You told him?" asks Lloyd, glancing over at Cole.

Cole lets out a frustrated growl. "Was I the only one who didn't know?" He paces angrily. "Why here, why me? The other students are fine, they aren't trapped here… Yang said something, told me that someone needed to remain as the master of the house, said he was going to transfer that honour to me, that's why he lured me here. But he had a change of heart, he stayed behind, so why am I stuck here?" Cole stops pacing, and instead leans on the wall.

"Wait, Yang's still here?" asks Jay. "You said it wasn't haunted!"

"Well have you seen him?" asks Cole bitterly. "Cause I sure haven't." Cole then raises his voice. "Yang! Come out here and explain yourself! Stop hiding like some sort of coward!"

Everyone looks around expectedly, but Yang does not appear.

"Maybe he isn't here?" says Lloyd. "Maybe he was able to transfer the master of the house thing, and that allowed him to leave?"

"But the curse was broken!" Cole gestures fiercely, "The temple is all fixed up, I broke the Yin blade!"

"Well, at least now we know where to focus our research." says Misako.

"Also your chances of having another seizure are much reduced now we know what the cause is." states Zane.

"Me staying here forever is not a solution." grumbles Cole while crossing his arms.

"No one is suggesting that." says Jay, looking at Cole with concern. "Are we?" Jay looks over to Misako as she shakes her head.

"Ugh! I'm gonna go punch a dummy with Yang's face on it."

The room devolved into academic bickering after Cole left. Jay wasn't ready for that, didn't want to hear the many possible ways that trying to fix this could go badly, so Jay follows Cole and sits on the temple steps, watching him unleash his anger on the training equipment. After a while Cole activates his lava arm and slams it into the ground, causing the whole island to tremble.

"Whoa, try not to break it in half!" yells Jay from the sidelines, before remembering that Cole probably hadn't realised he was even out here.

Cole unleashes one final kick, breaking off a dummy's head, and then stomps on over to Jay, sitting down next to him and resting his head in his hands as he leans his elbows on his knees.

"Sorry, you, um, didn't have to stop completely." says Jay, suddenly feeling guilty for interrupting.

"No, you're right." Cole grumbles without lifting his head. "I'm so angry right now, if I keep going I could destroy this whole island, and then what would happen to me?"

Jay jiggles his leg. "Yeah, let's not find out."

Cole groans as he lifts his head. "Argh! I wanted to help him!" he throws out his hands, exasperated. "The last thing I did before being thrown into the rift was try to take him with me," he gestures up towards the crescent moon, "I felt sorry for him, staying behind so I could leave… but no. That was a lie. He just found a different way to screw me over!"

"Ghosts… am I right?" Jay chuckles nervously. Cole didn't seem to be ready for the problem solving stage yet. Right now he just needed to be angry.

"Argh!" Cole gets up again and starts pacing. "I thought this was over, I want it to be over!"

Jay looks on with concern. He doesn't know what to say, wasn't sure if there was anything he could say that would make Cole feel better. "At least you're not a ghost anymore? Being trapped has to be better than that right?"

Cole sighs. "Of course it's better! But that doesn't mean it's good, doesn't mean I should be grateful!"

"Yeah, I know. It still sucks." He watches Cole pace and kick at the dirt. "Hey, um, instead of destroying the island, do you want to do some kata with me? That often helps to calm me down."

Cole pauses his pacing. "Sure, fine," he lets out a sigh. "It feels like something Wu would do."

Emotions flair briefly inside Jay, a slight pride at being compared to Wu, and then a sadness as he remembers Wu is missing. Jay gets up from the step and goes to stand beside Cole. They silently work through the movements under the watchful eye of the moon.

Lloyd got up early for sunrise exercises, but he hadn't slept well, so it had more turned into a sunrise meditation. He was feeling pressure to be like Wu, to keep up his habits, to be a good ninja, a good master. Which meant he was the first to see Kai and Nya ride in on their fusion dragon.

"You're back!" Lloyd runs on over to them as the dragon vanishes.

"Yup, but not for long." says Kai, "Just need some fresh clothes."

"Kai thinks we should spend some time helping our parents set up the blacksmith shop." Nya sighs. "It's been left abandoned for a while, and, well, there's a lot of lost time to catch up on."

Lloyd's smile fades. He should have expected that. It wasn't like he had any leads on Wu yet anyway. They start walking inside, and Lloyd follows. "Speaking of catching up, I need to catch you up on Cole."

After breakfast Nya bumps into Zane. "Oh, Zane, do you know where Jay is? I wanted to see him before we headed out again."

"Jay and Cole were up quite late, I believe they are still sleeping." says Zane. "Can I show you something?" Zane gently takes Nya's elbow and guides her into the room where he was starting to set up the computers.

"Oh cool, electrification is going well I see?"

Zane gently closes the door. "Actually, I wanted to speak to you about Jay."

Nya's heart flutters as she turns away from the computer to face Zane. This must be serious if he wanted to discuss it behind closed doors.

"I took Jay to the lighthouse. It was empty. Echo Zane was not there."

Nya gasps, "But that doesn't make any sense… where would he go? How would he leave?"

"Jay had a strong reaction to being at the lighthouse." Nya's eyes dart back to Zane. This wasn't about Echo, Zane wanted to talk to her about Jay… "He became convinced that I was Nadakhan, using shape shifting to trick him. He attacked me, and injured my arm."

Nya lifts a hand to her face, shoulders slumping slightly. "I thought he was doing better…"

"When he was delirious, he revealed that he was raped by Nadakhan." Nya stops breathing, eyes going wide as she stares straight ahead. Zane frowns slightly at her reaction. "He told me you were already aware of this."

Nya nods, and takes in a gasping breath. "So it really did happen? Oh Zane… What are we going to do?"

"He attended his first therapy session yesterday."

"How the heck did you get him to go to therapy?" Nya briefly forgot they were having a secret conversation, voice echoing down the halls. She realises her mistake, pulling a hand up to her mouth before whispering, "I've been trying, but every time I suggest it he just shuts down, or gets mad."

"I think he felt guilty for hurting me." There is a slight sadness in Zane's voice.

That made sense. Maybe she should have made Kai tell him to go to therapy after hurting his arm… "Thank you." she says, letting out a relieved sigh. He was finally getting the help he needed.

"Nya," Zane's voice was low. This conversation still wasn't over. "You were also held captive by Nadakhan for a time. I am sorry to have to ask this, but, were you also-"

"No!" interrupts Nya, not wanting to hear him say it. "Nothing like that. He wanted to save me for our wedding night. They actually treated me quite well, they didn't want me beaten and bruised for the wedding." He had made her strip for him once. Wanted to inspect his prize. She had felt so humiliated, made to stand there, rotating on command while his eyes examined her like some sort of object. "Nothing like that." she reiterates, clutching at the gi in front of her chest.

"I am glad," says Zane, letting out a sigh of relief, while examining her nervous habit. "Even if he did not, you still went through a great many hardships in the alternate timeline. Therapy may also offer you some benefit."

Nya sighs. It would be hypocritical of her to deny Zane's offer after commending him for getting Jay in therapy. "Fine. Sign me up. But can it wait until after I get back from parental bonding?"

She does go and see Jay before leaving, lying down next to him on the futon.

Jay stirs, opening his eyes wearily. "Huh, Nya?" his voice is rough with sleep.

She leans over and kisses him gently on the forehead. Jay smiles, this was the perfect way to be woken up. "Zane told me about the lighthouse." Ok, maybe not. His smile fades as he hides his face in the sheets. "Hey, it's ok." Nya croons while rubbing his back.

"No. It's not." says Jay, muffled through the bedding.

Nya wasn't sure exactly what part he was referring to. The part where Echo was missing? For surely he felt guilty about that, about not going sooner. The part where he hurt Zane? Or the part where he had mistakenly revealed his darkest secret? Or all of it? Probably all of it. "But it will be." she says gently, continuing to rub his back, trying to coax him out of the sheets. Nya lets out a sigh. "I'm going to join you in therapy, when I get back."

Jay turns to face her, revealing his face once more. "But, you're back now?"

She shakes her head slowly. "Just getting some clothes and things. Gotta go do some family bonding."

The way she says it makes Jay suspicious that she wasn't completely thrilled about the idea. "Kai's idea?"

"Yup." She pops the p.

Jay sighs. He didn't want her to go, but he couldn't ask her to stay. Suddenly getting their parents back after so many years, of course they would want to spend some time together. "I've missed you." he says glumly, accepting his fate.

"Me too." She kisses him again.

Cole spent most of the following day moping in his bed. Jay goes to him in the afternoon. "Hey, I made cookies." Step 1 in the cheer Cole up manual was to bring him sweets. His other sensory overload stuff seemed to have settled down, so surely it would be fine, right?

Cole rolls over and looks up at Jay. "You made cookies?" he asks skeptically.

"Ok fine! Zane made cookies, because I asked him to, and I helped." Jay puffs out his chest with pride, but Cole continues to stare with one eye raised. "Ok, fine, Zane had to redo almost everything I touched, but I was there?" he sighs. "Do you want a cookie or not?"

Cole looks over at the plate. "Thanks, but I'm not hungry." Jay looks down at the plate glumly, like he'd failed. Cole realises that the cookies had been made specifically for him, by his friend doing his best to cheer him up. He sighs. "Fine, I guess I could try one cookie?"

Jay's face immediately lights up as the plate is moved closer. Cole selects the smallest looking one and takes a bite. Too sweet. Not as bad as the cake, but it still wasn't good. "Mmmm." he says, but his face must have given it away.

"You don't like it?" asks Jay.

Cole forces himself to swallow. "Yeah, not really." He awkwardly holds the rest of the cookie, not sure what to do with it. "But I appreciate the gesture."

Jay sits down next to Cole, placing the plate on the floor and takes the half eaten cookie out of Cole's hands. Not wanting to waste food he takes a large bite. "Well Zane made them, so I know it's not my cooking. I thought your senses were back to normal?"

Cole shrugs. "Maybe it's changed for good? I dunno, it's probably for the best. What did Master Wu say? My body is a temple?"

Jay snorts. "Well, my body is going to enjoy the rest of these cookies."

Cole gets up, stretching out his body. If Jay was bringing him cookies, it was probably about time he got up out of bed. He needed to see Lloyd and Misako, and maybe start reading some of those books.
