Once they materialized on the bridge of the ship the Biliskiner shot into a hyperspace window, "Hs Hermiod sent her report?" Alex asked Thor as he set the box down.
"She has; our geneticists were shocked, confused, or outright flummoxed over the possibility of your healing device; the temporal aspect of the device also has our scientists in the same state; they wish to request to be allowed to study it to ensure such troubles plague us in the future."
Alex shrugged, "We don't understand the device ourselves nor can we duplicate it, the people we purchased it from are as beyond us as we are to microbial lifeforms, they have temporarily loaned us a portable version of one of their medical rooms," here Alex patted the box, "I doubt they will have a problem of you trying to study the beds but it is possible your people wouldn't be able to copy everything that makes it work."
Thor looked at the box and blinked a few times. "Truly, How would such a small device be able to help my people, Hermiod reported the one she used took several hours to repair her body."
"It uses dimensional manipulation to contain enough beds for one thousand of your people to use at a time," Sam answered as she read the agreement for its rental.
"We were able to borrow this for seven Earth days; the people we got it from said your people have a time dilation device, which should allow all of the Asgard, even those whose minds are in storage, to get healed," Alex explained as he walked over to an open space where he formed a recliner and sat.
For the rest of the trip, Sam spoke with Thor about the usage of the room, and then they spoke about how the search for a home for the Vulcan was not going as they had hoped.
"We have been unable to find a planet matching the parameters you gave us; the few we've located are near singularities, which would render them uninhabitable within the next century, while even now, they suffer from severe storms due to the large gravimetric pull."
"We may have to search for a planet in the Milky Way if Abydos weren't in goa'uld space or already inhabited I would think about there," Alex said while looking over the scans of the Ida galaxy Thor had shown them showing the few desert type planets that they had found without a native population.
"Couldn't we use the planet we are using for a base? I mean, it's not like we will always be there, plus the people we brought in need crews for their ships," Sam pointed out.
Alex looked off into nowhere before shrugging, "We could put together a colony there, and when we finish up with the goa'uld find them a homeworld once we don't have to worry over them attacking before they can settle in," he said after a minute.
Thor nodded slowly while he was listening. His mind was mostly focused on the fact that his people were so close to fixing the mistake made by repeatedly using clone DNA, but they had not had a choice after the destruction of their original genetic samples.
"We offer to use our habitat control technology to construct a planet meeting your requirements; however, we can not use the time dilation as it could displace the planet in the orbit of its parent star," Thor spoke after a moment.
"How long would it take to do it that way?" Sam asked.
"Possibly ten earth years up to two hundred, it will depend on if we would need to add mass to the planet as well as if it is a dead body and if we will need to re-excite the core and give it rotation," Thor answered.
"We can put that on the to-do list, we're not in a big rush for the planet plus we would also need to sterilize the planet down to the microbial level that is not something I want to do because at some time in the next few billion years or so a new race could spring from them due to panspermia," Alex told the two as they started looking for dead bodied planets.
Sam slumped, her excitement tempered at building a new world by his words, Thor was shocked at them as well because his excitement over his people's future being given an extension had not given thought to possibly destroying another future race in his want to help these people who had offered as well as giving the Asgard that future.
"Don't worry the galaxy is a big place and your monitoring networks are still being repaired after the destruction of the replicators, if we can't find a suitable planet we will look into something else but I'm afraid the one thing that comes to mind is from another reality and will take a lot of tweaking to create a copy of Vulcan," Alex told them.
"Titan A.E?" Sam asked remembering the movie they had watched recently to look into possible future places to travel to.
"Yep, I have it on my list to visit for the Titan if nothing else."
"What is Titan?" Thor asked.
"There is a reality we are aware of where the humans built a ship that could build a micro solar system using a nebula to fule a star as well as build a planet; while it was a good idea, I'm not sure if it will work here, it will depend on the physics."
"We would need to go there sometime in the future and get a copy of it then build one here to see if it could work here though we will need to find an empty section of space to test it," Sam said while remembering that the physics of one universe would not always work in another, they had been lucky so far that the few things they had built worked so far.
"If such a device functions as you say would you allow my people to study it as well?" Thor asked again shocked at the mention of a world-building device.
"Your people would be the only other people I would trust to study it, well, you and the Nox, but with their passivism, I doubt they would do more than debate if it should or should not be used," Alex said as he stood as the navigation system gave its warning that they were about to exit hyperspace.
"We'll shelve that for later," Sam said as the ship came out of the hyperspace corridor in orbit of Othala.
Thor moved a control crystal, directing the ship to prepare to land in its birth, "The council is awaiting our presence," he said, then moved another crystal, teleporting them to the council chambers, trusting the automated systems as well as the other Asgard on the surface to land his ship.
Back on the planet, moments after Alex and Sam were whisked away in the lights of teleportation, the group milled around, not knowing what to do until they returned; well, all except Xander, who had taken off to explore the area, Cordelia following him.
Kira had taken Karen to explore as well but more to find Rese to destroy the android; she remembered the episode where she had been found by the humans from Earth and taken to be studied, nearly causing a new wave of replicators to take hold in the Milky Way galaxy.
It was a chore to search for the android as well as keep Karen from running off to examine every small animal she spotted, Kira wondered how all but the smallest of animals the largest they had seen was no bigger than a house cat, it took all of Kira's patients to explain to Karen that she couldn't take it home as a pet.
As they explored Kira noticed that except for the buildings that were falling to pieces from age as well as what she assumed were the replicators using what metals to support the stonework to build more of themselves, she was brought out of her musings as she flew over the remains of the city closest to the stargate by a high pitched whistle.
Looking to the ground, she found Cordelia waving her arms to get her attention, thinking that they may have found something. She landed and picked Karen out of the air to keep her close.
"I think we found that robot thing you guys were talking about," Cordelia said pointing to a relatively intact building surrounded by a large number of replicator blocks.
Xander came out of the building soon after carrying the android over his shoulder as well as a small yellow crystal-like thing in his hand.
"They built this thing to look as close to human as they could. It reminds me of Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation," he said as he lay the android on the ground.
Kira examined the android, frowning as she ex-rayed it but didn't see its power source; her eyes then moved to the crystal in Xander's hand and noticed it matched a cavity in the chest of the android.
She held out her hand toward the crystal that Xander handed over, "The man that built it found a repository of knowledge hidden away somewhere around here, using the knowledge he built this but for some reason, he programmed it with a child-like mind as well as giving it the ability to create the replicators, it didn't like or understand the programming meant for the replicators so stripped it down to replicate, over time it lost what little control it had over them and they devoured anything and everything they could to make more of themselves, it was a miracle they didn't or couldn't use the stargate to leave the planet until an Asgard found this planet and took one to study but somehow it got lose on the ship sometime and began using the Asgard ship to build more of itself by the time the ship got to the Ida galaxy the Asgard was dead and the ship crashed on a planet, that was a few thousand years ago."
"So like the Borg just fully mechanical?" Xander asked.
"Borg?"
"Cybernetic lifeforms that assimilate both tech and organic to grow have a hive mind," Xander explained as he looked at the android.
"I suppose they could be considered this realities version of that, but either they haven't gotten to the point of using an organic material, or they couldn't for some reason," Kira guessed.
"So what are we going to do with it?" Cordelia asked while pointing to the android.
Kira shrugged, "Alex said it was dangerous, but right now, it's powered down, so it should be safe; let's take it back to the clearing; Alex or Sam may want to examine it before deciding what to do."
Saying that, she reached down with one hand and took hold of the android, "You guys can keep exploring if you want. I was looking for this thing," Kira said after standing and letting Karen go.
Xander shrugged and then looked around, "There's not much left of these people, we'll head back to the clearing soon, maybe we should practice controlling our strength I accidentally threw a boulder across the street when I just wanted to roll it out of the way," he said with a sheepish grin.
Kira nodded, "Just wait until the Asgardian magic kicks in while you gain the knowledge of it with the bloodline control will be what you will have to work on."
"Magic and I don't get along," Xander said with a shudder.
"You know that may have been because of the Hellmouth," Cordelia pointed out.
"That or it was because you have or had a natural resistance to foreign magic; what you now have come from inside," Kira added.
"I hope so; well, go ahead and get back to the others. We'll head that way soon," Xander said, looking relieved.
Kira nodded, then flew up, taking the android with her and making sure Karen followed her; they landed near Athena, putting the android down. She looked around and saw that all but Xander and Cordelia had stayed in the clearing.
She watched as they spoke in groups. She presumed they were talking about what they would be doing in this reality; as she was watching the groups, Hermiod joined her.
"Most of these people do not appear to be old enough to take on the mission of fighting the goa'uld," Hermiod said as she watched the young, seeming people speak to one another.
"Some of them are young, but the others just appear to be; see the young woman with brown bushy hair? Speaking to who looks to be her younger sister."
Hermiod nodded then noticed that the two young humans looked to be identical except in age, "One of them is a clone," she said in realization.
"Yes but that's not what I wanted to point out, the elder of the two has been fighting a shadow war for the last seven years, while she may not be a warrior her intelligence kept her and her friends a few steps ahead of their enemy, we will most likely have her in a role of research unless she chooses to join the battle," Kira informed the healed Asgard woman.
Karen had flown over to the Hermiones, the younger of which took the child in her arms and cuddled her which put a smile on all faces in the group.
"What of the rest?" Hermiod asked.
"Except those two I know nothing of the others, but from what I do know of the place they gathered them from, most of them will likely be ready for just about any role they will need to fill,"
Hermiod nodded, then looked to the inactive android at their feet, "And this?"
"It is the cause of the replicators. Its power source has been removed, most likely in an attempt to stop the replicators, but it was too late by the time it was done."
"Why have you not destroyed it?"
"Alex may want to inspect it before destroying it," Kira said with a shrug.
For a few hours, the groups continued to speak over their plans for what they would be doing while Hermiod scanned the android. Kira watched Karen, allowing herself to be passed around from girl to girl; Xander and Cordelia returned and joined the discussions.
When they all began to tire or show signs of hunger Kira had to remind them that their homes should have food stocks as well as rooms for them to sleep.
After they figured out how to enter their homes, Kira took Karen to have a meal and then they watched a few episodes of The Stargate series, Hermiod joined them enjoying the regained ability to taste food but found that she disliked the food cubes that her people had begun to use as they were so bland to be almost tasteless.
"How accurate are these viewings?" Hermiod asked between episodes and Kira had gone to put Karen in her bed.
"I'm not sure, I've decided to just use these as a reference for the people we may meet as well as taking down the shown gate addresses so we can visit them to see if we need to do anything."
"What of my people, what happened to them according to these?"
"I don't know, what I've been watching is the early stuff, the Asgard are only mentioned a few times so far."
Hermiod sat silently watching the show after that, her thoughts ran in several directions, between her people finding a cure on their own or they had died fighting the replicators or the degradation finally hitting a point where they couldn't clone viable bodies.
After a few more episodes Kira had to lead a sleepy and distracted Hermiod to the spare room and into the bed.
When Alex and Sam returned, they were exhausted but happy, " With that time dilation set up, the Asgard should be healed in the next week."
"Yeah, with them able to heal twenty thousand a day using the room, they should be able to handle themselves; with the replicators gone, they will have the time to readjust," Alex said as he stripped down to his boxers and crawled into bed.
"I'm just surprised that they have nearly three and a half million people once they woke the minds that were in storage to find out who would want a new chance at life," Sam said as she joined him.
"And what of the other few million minds that chose to remain in storage?"
Sam lay her head on his chest, "They are the oldest minds and grew tired of life they want to be either permanently kept in storage or destroyed," she said sadly.
Wrapping her in his arms he kissed the top of her head, "I know you wanted them all to wake up but those minds are free to choose, at least they have enough to grow a larger population down the line but the next few years is going to be interesting, especially with the baby boom they are going to have before they can get their hormones under control," he said causing her to laugh hard.
"Why did you ask for a portable time dilation device?"
Alex shrugged, "The group is going to need more than a week or two to gain control, so with it, we can give them a year in just a few hours. Plus, it will keep them out of my hair while I put together the ships."
After that, they spoke about things of no real importance until they drifted off to sleep. When Karen bounced into their room, she pounced on the bed and hugged them.
"Did you have fun with Aunty yesterday?" Sam asked as she wrapped Karen in her arms.
"We went exploring and found lots of broken stuff; Ander found a sleeping woman that won't wake up; Aunty said you want to look at her before you know what you gonna do with her," she rambled as she snuggled into Sam's arms.
Alex sat up quickly as he heard her talk about the android, "I need to take care of that now," he said, getting out of bed, his clothes forming as he stood.
Leaving the room, he went to find Kira but met Hermiod leaving the room she had used last night; the problem was that she was naked, "Umm, there should have been clothes you could wear," he said, coming to a stop, trying not to look below her face.
Hermiod looked to herself and then to him, "My apologies, we lost the need to wear garments so long ago it never occurred to me to dress after waking."
Alex nodded, then turned to Kira's door as it opened, "Uh, could you help her find something to wear?" he asked while gesturing to the naked Asgard not far away, a blush shading his face.
Kira chuckled at him but nodded, "Sure," she said then stepped to Hermiods side to show her where the clothes were, "Oh I left that android at the edge of the clearing, I figured you'd want to look at it before doing something with it," she added as she led Hermiod back into the room.
"Thanks, I'll most likely destroy it but we could copy its design something to act as support or crew for the ships, we'll just need to ensure they can't create replicators, we'll need to see about writing a basic operations program," he told them just before the door closed then made his way out of the house.
Once outside, he spotted the group milling about the area; Hermione was examining the android and was about to place the power core in its chest, "Don't," he called out, causing her to jump away from the android, dropping the core.
Running over to join her, he scooped up the core and stored it in his hammerspace, "What's wrong? I just wanted to see if it worked," Hermione stated.
"This thing is the reason there are no humans on this planet, Did you ever see the movie Terminator?" at her nod, he continued, "Think of this as Skynet just with the mentality of a child with the impulse control of a toddler, it created machines to play with but it lost control of them, they either killed or drove off the humans of this planet thousands of years ago." he finished.
"I'm sorry I didn't know," she said lowering her head.
Sighing, he shook his head, "It's ok, no harm done, but this is why we want you and the others to watch the show, Stargate SG-One, so you can be aware of what we will be facing."
"I didn't get the chance to watch any of it. Also, tele was never much of an interest to me; books were my world," she told him as she watched him inspect the android and then touch it with his fingertips.
"It's fine, just try to watch it; oh, spread around that we will be having a meeting in an hour, and I need everyone to be there," he told her as he stood. Then, using heat vision, he destroyed the android.
Hermione jumped back when the hea beams shot from his eyes then watched in wonder and horror as the android was melted into nothing but a puddle of slag.
"Why destroy it? We could have learned so much from its construction."
"It was too dangerous. I can build you one to study, but its programming couldn't be changed. It was built into almost every circuit; whoever ever built this didn't fully understand what they were doing; they just found some technology and played around with it until they built the android," he told her, then looked up as someone was calling his name.
Sam was standing at the door watching until he destroyed the android, she couldn't hear what he told Hermione but guessed it was about the danger the android represented, "Alex," she called to get his attention, when he looked her way she waved him to come inside, "Breakfast is ready, if you don't hurry Karen will get yours."
Alex laughed and then reminded Hermione to tell everyone about the meeting when he got to the table he was in time to see Karen sneaking some of his bacon from his plate to hers, shaking his head he sat down and began to eat playfully fighting off Karen trying to steal the rest of the bacon on his plate.
When they finished eating, they left the house to find the others waiting for them; someone had gathered logs to use to sit, causing Alex to shake his head as he hadn't thought to provide seats.
"Alright," he called out to get everyone's attention, "While we were away yesterday I thought it over, and a week isn't going to be enough time for you all to adjust so we came up with a way to give you all a year to adjust while only actually only an hour passes," he was cut off by gasps and a few questions about how he was going to pull it off.
Sam whistled to get them to quieten down, "The Asgard have loaned us a time dilation device that will cover a space just about twice the size of this clearing; once it's set up, you guys will have the year while we get your ships ready," Alex finished once they settled down.
"You guys won't be helping us learn?" One of the people asked.
"No, everything you gained will come to you by instinct. It's the physical changes you need to learn to control; for those of you who took the Marvel Asgard bloodline, Hermione, Jean, and Harry should be able to control the magic you've gained," Sam answered, watching Alex move to the side.
Alex stepped off to the side to form a table where he created enough bio-suits as well as the modified battlesuits, she also noticed that he had added a piece of Kryptonian cloth to half the sets well and the battle suits seemed to have a golden shine giving away that he had added Uru to them to give them a magical quality.
"Now, each of you come to pick up your armor; the ones with the white strip lying across them are for the Kryptonians; it will aid you in gathering solar energy," Alex said as he stepped away from the table.
As they each took a set Sam was explaining the usage of the armor, though she and Alex did get a few chuckles in when they all jumped in shock as the bio-suit attached to them then absorbed the other things.
"Now, you won't lose access to your homes so you won't need to worry about food or shelter during the time you are adjusting, but I'm also going to build a mock bridge for your ships, this will let you guys have something else to do while in time dilation it will be able to simulate battle scenarios using the data we have on the two current threats to the two galaxies we'll be working on," he told them as they changed their suits around before changing them into civilian clothing.
Sam began creating Omni-tools and passing them out, as she did Kira went behind her helping the others set them up, "These will act as personal computers and communication between us when we are too far apart for ship-to-ship communications, my home has an amplifier that will cover most if not all of the galaxy," Alex explained
Alex then led them away from the clearing mainly so that the Stargate would be outside the time-dilation field, once he was far enough away he pulled a large house-sized box from his hammerspace, "This is where you will learn to pilot your ships, right now you guys don't have anyone to crew them and I'm working on that, so you'll have a virtual crew to work the Engineering and science stations."
"How many people are we talking about and why didn't you get them when you got us?" Xander asked.
"A hundred people per crew, and I wouldn't have been able to hire that many people. Also, you guys were the only ones who met the mental stability requirements of the thousand or so candidates who were being interviewed at the same time you were."
"Are you going to get people from Earth?"
"No, we will not be able to trust them to not try and take over the ship of you younger-looking people thinking you are too young to have the tech you have, so I'll be looking for people that will not question your ages."
"The Asgard from Ida?"
"No, they will be going through some rough patches for the next few years until they can control the emotions they've forgotten in the few thousand years they were battling the degradation of their DNA and, most recently, the last few hundred years with the replicators which slowed their attempts to fix the genetic problems."
"Then who?"
"I was thinking about a Vulcan crew; we will find out later; I have contacts in a Startrek reality who may be able to help," Alex Lied, not wanting them to know he could easily clone people.
"Which era?"
"DS nine era, although I did have the chance to meet, T'Pol her era will need to play catchup with the systems going into the ships, the DS nine era Vulcan will only need to learn a few differences as the layout of the ships will match what they know aside from using the energy system which won't be using the warp core to power the ships, the main reason is there is no dilithium to help contain the matter-antimatter reaction," Alex told them.
"What will happen to them once we finish our contracts?"
"That will be up to them if they want to remain on your crew they can but I think you'll be rotating them out with fresh members now and then, some may find they want to join you but, I do not want you guys trying to course them to permanently join you, I may be able to find a way for you to return here from time to time for either vacation or to allow your crews to swap out, or when you guys go to places where your ships will be locked out due to universal laws."
"What if one chooses to join us in our travels as a member like our companions?"
"That's up to them, now let's get this set up going; I want to get the ships done and meet my contact to see about the crews," Alex said, then ushered his group away from the others and activated the device before someone else could ask a question to delay him further.
They watched as the time bubble formed then the air went hazy as time was accelerated, then Alex turned away to begin making the ships, which only took him a few minutes per ship to build each, all of the sips were identical, powered by a neutrino ion generator and two potentia sockets which he would fill later, each ship had two drone launch tubes on fore and the other aft as well as ventral and dorsal phaser arrays that would give them a near three hundred and sixty-degree defensive weapons platform, the final addition were the dual shielding arrays, the first layer was hull hugging shields and the second was a bubble shield that would reduce most if not all weapons fire.
"Now for the crews as well as the colony," he then flew off toward the remains of the city and passed it, followed by Sam, Kira, and Karen, while Hermiod returned to Athena.
Landing several miles from the city he looked around and nodded noting that the area was clear enough for his purposes, taking another device from his hammerspace he activated it after adjusting it to cover the open area, handing it to Kira he began creating cloning Vulcans while sam created clothing for them while Kira took Karen to inspect a few plants to hide their nudity.
Inside the bubble, time moved at a rate of two days to an hour outside which is how long it took him to create the five thousand clones divided equally by gender, then give them what they would need to build a village as well as another mock-up of the ship in full to allow them to learn the systems.
"Alright everyone we are about to drop the field for a few moments you all know what to do, once we leave you will re-enter time dilation for one year inside the field, use that time to choose your names and council as well as who will crew the other ships, pair off as you wish and remember there is another colony on the world of Othala which we will ensure you will be able to contact," Alex called out.
Once the field was down he gave the device to one of the colonists, "This only has enough power to keep the field up for a year but that should be enough time for everyone to choose what to do, for now, this ship is grounded but once you all finish I'll replace it with a fully functioning ship for your use to explore as you wish," Alex to the man before they left the Vulcans to finish, he also remembered his talks with Sam and Freya the day before.
The evening before after the meeting with the council as well as setting up the room and its field to hasten the healing of the Asgard people.
"Thor has spoken of your want to find a planet for a group of people whom you were requested to settle in this reality, the council has agreed to allow you to if you wish to place the people here on Othala, they then could search for a world for themselves while we Asgard settle as well as allow us to monitor our obligations in the protected planes treaty," Freya spoke opening the meeting.
Alex sighed, "I had hoped to be able to find a plant for them, but it's harder to find a planet similar to their home world than I thought it would be."
"That may be our fault as well as that of the Alteran, in the past we would terraform planets to suit our needs, we searched our records and found that all but the few desert planets without Indigenous life had been changed to suit our needs," Freya told them while bringing up a display showing the records of their terraforming of planets.
"Could you find a nebula that does not produce stars that we could use to deploy the Titan device?" Sam asked.
Freya nodded, "There are a few that meet that request."
"Could you have some asteroids and comets moved to one once we know which one we will use?"
"Yes, we could, but why may I ask?"
"Mass as well as liquid water though each will need to be scanned for microbial life and if they find something either ignore it and find another comet or remove it to another location so they cannot contaminate the planet we would be building, as for the astroids well a nickel-iron composite that will be the core," Sam answered.
Alex let them discuss the planetary mechanics for a few minutes before asking his question, "If we set up a colony here, what are the numbers you feel the Asgard would be comfortable with living in this colony?"
"While this is our homeworld most of our population is either on ships or our colony worlds throughout the galaxy, we have no population in the desert area of this planet it is too harsh for our frail bodies and I noticed that the people you will to bring over primarily live on a desert planet, would a population of no more than ten thousand be too few for now?" Freya stated then asked.
"No, that shouldn't be too few, though we will need to build them some shelter; while I do have an object that holds their history and technology, I'm hesitant to deploy it here unless your people do not mind a permanent settlement here," Alex said after some thought.
Freya contacted the council as well as sent a notice to their entire population; after nearly ten minutes, Freya spoke again, "After a consensus, our people would welcome these people. If we can not move the settlement once a more suitable planet is found, we would welcome them, considering the aid you have already rendered us so far."
Alex nodded then looked at Sam, "Well let's get this done, we need to get back to the others,"
Sam stepped to his side, "Can you transport us to a rocky area in the desert? It will give us a foundation to work with," she asked Freya.
Freya nodded, then moved the control stone on her chair. Then they were whisked away with a musical note and flash of light; when the light faded from their sight, they found themselves standing in the middle of a large outcropping of rocks.
Looking around Alex nodded, "This should do," he said then took the orb Q gave him and set it on the ground, once the orb touched the rock it burst like a bubble then with a flash similar to the flash of Q using his abilities a copy of the city they had seen on Vulcan surrounded them, then he felt a new file of cloning material form in his mind filled with thousands of samples of the Vulcan people.
"Wow, he does some good work," Sam said as she looked around.
"Yeah, let's go to the council hall; it will be the largest building; I'll do this in groups while you direct them," Alex said, then took off toward the council building.
They spent the next several hours working on populating the city; after each group was finished, Sam would take them to the side and let them know where they were and what was going on, as well as how to contact the Asgard in case they needed help or to contact them, by the time they finished they were exhausted they barely made it to their bed even though it was a simple action to open the door.
Alex came out of his thoughts as they landed just as the field dropped around the crews, while there were not many physical changes in the group, they did all seem to hold themselves with an air of confidence, though Xander had kept his relaxed stance but his eyes told a different story as did the infant held in Cordelia's arm.
Alex sighed, "Please tell me you delivered in your home," he almost pleaded.
"Ya, the place has a hospital room something about it being part of the spaceport price," Xander said with a shrug.
Sam stepped forward, "We've gotten your possible crews they are in training to familiarize themselves with the ship systems just like you had to do, all that's left is for you each to be registered as the captain and commanders," she told them while Kira neared walked to Cordelia and the baby Karen in her arms securely.
"For those of you who haven't seen the pre-Kirk Star Trek the ships are based on the original Enterprise its dimensions are two hundred and twenty-five meters stem to stern and one hundred and thirty-six meters wide and thirty-three in height normally the crew complement would only be eighty-three crew members but using specs and technology from a few races here in this reality there are enough bunks for one hundred crew members aside from the captains quarters which are about the size of a standard bedroom," Alex told them as he pointed to the ships behind them that were resting on their landing struts.
Everyone turned and looked at their ships, "What are the specs?" Xander asked.
"Phase drone launchers fore and aft, they can track a target or be controlled from the weapons stations on the bridge, the yield is variable from one to two hundred kilotons, and a phaser array that covers nearly the entire ship in a hundred and sixty-degree range, dual shield types bubble and hull hugger type, the sublight systems will cover Sol in under an hour at top speed while its slowest speed will take that hour to go from Earth to Mars, hyperspace engines are capable of crossing the galaxy from edge to edge in around a day and last but not least intergalactic hyperdrive that will take you through the galactic void in two to three days depending on how much you push them."
"What about maintenance?"
"Two industrial replicators, one in engineering, the other just off the drone magazine, to replace drones or act as a secondary support for maintenance crews. Also, there are transporters that you can use to mine asteroids to supplement the matter conversion via the replicators. There are food replicators as well, but they are in the gally." Alex finished explaining the ships.
"Now let's get you all registered for command positions; by the time we finish, the crew members will be ready to staff them," Sam said as she joined Kira and Karen to inspect the baby.
It took nearly the full hour to get the captains and commander positions filled, most of the time was taken up by everyone wanting to inspect the ships, and by the time they finished and left the ships they were met by a few hundred Vulcans with more joining them as they spread out to await to their ship assignments.
"Alright, everyone, divide up and conduct your interviews; also, Captains, don't forget To name your ship; we have two weeks for you all to settle, so no rush on that," Alex called out loud enough to be heard by everyone.
While they were beginning to divide and speak with their potential crew members, Hermiod joined Alex and his group.
"I would think that some of my people could make up some of the crew members some may even request it should you tell them."
"And we would welcome them, but first, you all need to relearn some things you lost over time through the degradation, hormones, as well as some personal things," Alex told her as he watched the groups.
"Such as?"
"Umm, things of a sexual nature, while mentally I'm sure you and the rest of your people think you can handle it but you spent so much time in genderless bodies, we think you all need several weeks to a month to get a handle on it all as well as adjust your equipment to fit your bodies now," he answered with a blush.
Hermiod seemed to think things over for a few moments then looked down at her body, "You have made a very astute observation," she said while her hands moved along her curves, not realizing she was exposing parts of her body to everyone.
Sam hid a giggle at his discomfort as she stepped around him and led Hermiod away, talking quietly, while Kira was at his side, not even trying to hide her amusement at his discomfort, while Karen didn't understand any of it, like any five-year-old child.
When Sam returned alone she explained, "She will need some alone time, she was so focused on studying the readings on Athena that she didn't realize the hormones were starting to affect her, nor did she realize she no longer was in an androgynous body that humanoid people would see as beautiful, I think she may need to rejoin her people until they settle, possibly send Athena with her to give her some distraction."
Alex nodded, "I was going to offer Athena to stay with Hermiod for a time; we need to all appear on a similar ship, and Athena would stand. Could you talk to them both about returning to Othala?"
Sam shrugged, "Couldn't hurt to ask them; Kira, come along; I may need your help," she said, then turned to walk back to Athena. Kira followed while Karen floated over to Cordelia to entertain the baby until it fell asleep.
