Different Perspectives Chapter 24

The Twenty-Fourth Hunger Games
Imogen Roosa, 21, Mentor to the District 6 Tributes.
Sitting in the Viewing Room, I turned towards Tammy, the Mentor for the District 5 Tributes, tense. Each of the consoles have the first name and surname of the twenty-four Tributes. Molly Frost, Maxmillian Jaaskelainen, Caelus Harris, Mags Flanagan, Tammy Winchester, Helios Molyneux, Bailey Thornton and Kronos Jackson. The Victors of the 13th, 18th, 20th, 11th, 12th, 22nd, 17th and 15th Hunger Games respectively, I recalled. I too, won the Hunger Games. The 19th Hunger Games, in fact. The Victor from the 14th Hunger Games recently went into labour, while the 16th Hunger Games Victor is on his way. At that moment the door opened and Rachel Oakley, the recent Hunger Games Victor, took her seat next to Bailey at the District 7 console. Woof Casino, the 16th Hunger Games Victor, arrived and took up his seat at the District 8 console. Finally, Alexei Gandy, the Victor of the 21st Hunger Games, arrived and sat down in the District 2 console, next to his Mentor Caelus. Turning back to the screen, I saw Felicia Levykin and Steelson Glenn standing on their podiums, with Felicia standing between Seville Demaine and Janelle Curie, and Steelson standing between Boudicca Jensen and Ebony Rostron. As the countdown reached zero the Tributes got off their pedestals. Felicia sprinted towards a small bag while Steelson picked up a small knife. "No!" I heard Tammy's anguished cry. Turning back to the screen, both Felicia and Steelson had fled deeper into the jungle, and on the ground, sprawled, was the decimated corpse of Janelle Curie, her legs a good distance away from the upper half. Armed with a bow and arrow, Boudicca shot an arrow through the throat of the boy from District 12. Another Sixteen-Year-Old Seam Kid from District 12, who will forever remain a statistic in the eyes of the Capitol, I thought, remembering the sixteen-year-olds from District 12. Robert, Erin, Basil, Harold, Moora, Dallas, Piers, Ashton, Graph. I thought. I saw on the screen the crumpled corpse of Felicia, weapons in her. Beside her lay Silver Heyer, the District 1 boy, dead. Standing over him was Steelson, a knife in his right hand. Silver must have killed Felicia, and Steelson killed him in revenge. I smiled proudly at the boy, but I was consumed by grief at the fact Felicia isn't coming home.
"No!" I yelled as I saw Steelson being surrounded by Boudicca and Esme, the girls from Districts 1 and 2. Slate, Boudicca's District Partner, was dead, killed by Atom from District 5 in his sleep. Huyen, Edward, Jack, Ebony, Indigo, Quinoa, Cutlet and Annabelle were still alive, so was Seaweed and Ariel from District 4. The boy from 4 had successfully killed Atom with several arrows, Huyen and Edward was moving their camp again and the Outlier Tributes called a truce with each other. Esme had pinned Steelson down as Boudicca swung her axe at him. Several cuts to the side later, and Steelson was dead on the jungle ground, the leaves around him stained with blood. "I'm sorry for letting you down Steelson", I muttered. Amy, Marty, Keira, Dougal, Honda, Vincent, Styx, Moto, Felicia, Steelson, the names of the Tributes I Mentored. Keira was the hardest, as she was my cousin. I got up and left the room.
On Day 12, the Gamemakers released the Cassowary Mutts into the Arena. Esme, Ariel, Seaweed, Ebony, Indigo, Quinoa, Cutlet and Annabelle all died in the four days that has elapsed since Steelson was killed, and there were four Tributes left: The Career girl from 2, the District 3 pair and Jack from 7. Several of the Cassowary Mutts cornered Jack, and began tearing him to shreds, while Edward, Boudicca and Huyen ran. During the flight, Boudicca stabbed Edward in the back. As he fell, one of the mutts slashed his neck open, ending the boy's life. Huyen knew she couldn't win against Boudicca in a fight. I remembered her Interview, that "I'm pretty fast, and I can outrun anything", and very soon, she dashed away from Boudicca and the Cassowary Mutts. I watched on the screen as Huyen dashed through the jungle, right until she reached the Cornucopia. At the District 3 console, I saw their Escort celebrating as Caelus took his headphones off. On the board behind me, I saw that Boudicca's light had gone out and a gold border was around Huyen's name. At the treeline at the edge of the jungle lay Boudicca's corpse, covered with the gashes from the Cassowary Mutts; a large gash was across her throat. The work of the Cassowaries. This was one of the earliest chapters I wrote for Different Perspectives, and as I planned for the 25th Chapter of Different Perspectives to be told from a Capitol POV, I decided that Chapter 24 should be Imogen's Chapter.
