The team were all at the bullpen, Hailey was massaging Jay's shoulders, Kevin was chatting with his girlfriend on the phone, Adam and Kim were tossing each other some balls, while Voight was in his office.
"So, this is David Squire. 'Ginger.' is his street name. He's just got released pending parole. He was in Stateville for two years for-." Kim started explaining.
"For extortion and murder of two teenage girls." Jay finished.
Kevin looked from the computer to Jay, looking impressed. "Impressive. How'd you figure that out?" he asked, sitting in his chair.
Jay turned around, turning from his desk and pointing at a picture of 'Ginger' on the white board. "Because. Before I joined this team, I worked in RHD for a year, undercover. I met him, and he's a real piece of work. I can still go under if you need me to. I haven't been blown." he explained, pointing to the man's arms covered in prison tattoos.
"You sure. Dude?"
Jay nodded, looking at the picture of 'Ginger' on the board. "100 percent sure. I'm the best option for the job. Plus, the guy already knows me. That'll increase the chances of him working with me."
Voight looked over at Jay, still not sure about him going undercover. "How do you know he'll still work with you?" he asked, crossing his arms.
"Because he's a psychopath. If the last time I saw him is any clue to how he's changed, I'm guessing he still has that 'me against the world' mentality. With that mentality, someone he knows will be more likely to work with him than a total stranger." he replied, keeping his eyes on the board.
Adam was the first to speak up. "Are you sure he'll fall for you? Cause honestly, it kinda sounds like that dude has a thing for you."
"He's an old-fashioned gang leader who also happens to be a psychopath. He thinks women belong in the kitchen. He'll believe I still have the same mentality as when he first met me because he's a psychopath. He got a little friendly, yeah, but I'm sure." he responded, still looking at the picture of 'Ginger' on the board.
"Alright. I'll get it set up. Don't get yourself killed, got it?" Voight said, still concerned for his detective.
The team was all packed into the van, watching through the cameras that were installed at different points around the apartment. In the apartment, Jay was searching through 'Ginger's' drawers, trying to figure out if there was anything worth finding.
One by one, the team was watching as Jay went through Ginger's drawers, looking for something to help them. "Anything yet? Anything interesting in that drawer?" Kevin asked, watching him dig through a drawer on the nightstand.
Jay shook his head, rummaging through the drawer, not finding anything. "Nothing here but condoms and cash," he said, shutting the nightstand drawer and moving to the dresser drawers next.
Suddenly, Ginger walked into the apartment, shutting the door behind him and locking the chain. Jay was still searching through the dresser drawers, keeping his back turned to Ginger.
Ginger took his jacket off and hung it up by the door, moving into the apartment, and leaning against the back of the couch, watching Jay riffle through the drawers. "Enjoying going through my private drawers, are you?" Ginger asked, still leaning against the couch, watching Jay's back as he continued searching through the drawers.
Jay didn't turn around, still looking through the drawers as he replied to Ginger. "Yeah. You have a lot of interesting stuff. Like, you really like handcuffs, don't you?" he said, pulling out a pair of handcuffs that were in one of the drawers and holding them up.
Ginger laughed, watching as Jay held up the handcuffs. "What can I say? I like to get frisky," he said, a smirk spreading across his face.
Jay shut the drawer and turned around, holding the handcuffs and looking at Ginger with a smirk.
Kim was watching the exchange, a look of disgust on her face. "Good lord. That guy needs to keep it in his pants." she muttered, watching as Jay and 'Ginger' spoke.
Ginger walked over to Jay, gently grabbing him by the front of the shirt and tugging him closer. Jay allowed Ginger to pull him closer, still holding the handcuffs.
Ginger looked him up and down, noticing the outfit he was wearing and smirking. "Well, don't you look good all casual like that, Cowboy?" he asked, running a hand over Jay's arm.
Jay smirked at the nickname, still letting Ginger pull him closer. "Yeah, well, you've always liked me in casual," he responded, looking Ginger up and down as well.
Ginger smirked, nodding his head. "You know I always have. It's why I took a shine to ya in the first place." he said, his hands still roaming over Jay's arms and shoulders.
Kim was starting to look like she was going to be sick, watching Ginger's hands all over Jay's body. "Ugh. I'm gonna throw up." she said, watching through the camera.
Adam was also watching and also looked sick seeing how comfortable Ginger was with touching Jay. "Dude's got the total hots for Jay. I think I just lost my lunch." he said, still watching Ginger's hands roaming over Jay's body.
Jay looked around the apartment, trying to see if there was anything worth mentioning. "So, is it just you that lives here, or is there someone else in your organization?" Jay asked, looking into Ginger's eyes as he spoke.
Ginger looked down at Jay, thinking for a second before answering. "It's just me here. I don't trust the folks I've got working for me enough to have them in my apartment." he answered, still running his hands over Jay's shoulders.
Jay gently wrapped his arm around Ginger's back, holding him there and pulling him closer. He looked at him through his eyelashes as he leaned forward and gently placed a kiss on Ginger's neck, whispering.
"I'm gonna go."
Ginger groaned softly at the kiss on his neck, reaching up and wrapping his arms around Jay's waist. "And leave me all alone here?" he asked, looking at Jay.
Jay smirked, letting Ginger wrap his arms around his waist, bringing them closer together. "I'll be back. Don't you worry about that," he responded, keeping his face close to the side of Ginger's neck.
Ginger let his head lean to the side, giving Jay more access to his neck. "I'm gonna hold you to that, Cowboy," he said, a smirk starting to spread across his face.
Jay smirked as well, still holding Ginger close to him. "I have no doubt that you will," he said, planting another kiss to the side of Ginger's neck.
Jay walked out of the apartment building, locking the door behind him and started down the sidewalk. The team was still all in the van, watching Jay walk out of the building. Voight was still watching and spoke up as he watched Jay walk down the sidewalk.
"He really is good."
Adam nodded, watching the monitor as well. "Yeah, he is. The guy really bought him being into him as well." he muttered, still watching the screen.
Kim was watching the monitor as well, shaking her head. "Yeah, but it's seriously gross. The guy's drooling all over him."
Voight nodded, seeing the look on the man's face, seeing that he was utterly obsessed with Jay. "Yeah, it is. But I mean, have you seen Jay. I think anyone would be drooling at the sight of him." he said, his eyes still on the monitor.
Jay was sitting on the couch in the apartment, legs spread apart, a bottle of beer in his hand on hand, a cigarette in the other. He was watching some show he didn't care about, taking a swig from the bottle, and putting the cigarette to his lips, taking a drag and blowing out the smoke.
The team was all there, looking around at the apartment, taking in how different it was to what they were used to seeing from Jay.
Kevin looked around as well, looking at how different the apartment was. "Yeah. We just aren't used to seeing this from Halstead, though. It's very much different for him." he said, still looking around.
Hailey was looking around the apartment, looking at everything, when she saw Jay sitting on the couch, smoking and drinking a beer. She walked over and sat down next to him on the couch, a beer in her hand as well.
The team were all looking around the apartment, still getting used to the change in scenery. Kevin was the first to speak up. "You look different, Halstead. It's like you're a completely different person."
Jay turned off the tv and put his cigarette out, looking at Kevin and nodding. "That's what a UC assignment will do to you." he said, finishing the bottle of beer and putting it down on the table.
Kim was still looking around the apartment, still trying to wrap her head around the change. "I gotta admit, I never thought I'd see you like this." she said, taking a step forward toward where Jay was sitting on the couch.
Jay looked over at Kim, a smirk appearing on his face as she stood by the couch. "Yeah, well. I can be anyone I need to be for an assignment." he said, his legs still sprawled out in front of him, one arm on the back of the couch.
Someone knocked on the door, making everyone look at the door. Jay got up and walked over to the door, looking through the peephole and seeing Ginger standing there.
The team all got up and took any paperwork they had and quickly walked over by the door. "Keep us updated, ok." Kim muttered to Jay, who nodded.
They all left, and Jay waited until he could no longer hear their footsteps in the hallway. Once they were gone, he opened the door, seeing Ginger on the other side.
Ginger was standing on the other side of the door, a smirk on his face. "You're alone?" he asked, looking around behind Jay and not seeing anyone else.
Jay nodded, folding his arms over his stomach and leaning against the door frame. "Yep. Just me." he responded, looking at Ginger.
Ginger smirked, his eyes running over Jay's body and he licked his lips, staring at him. "Good. I don't want any other people around when we talk." he said, still looking Jay up and down.
Jay nodded, taking a step back and letting Ginger into the apartment, closing and locking the door behind him. Ginger moved and sat on the couch, still looking at Jay.
"You look good. I like the way casual looks on you." he said, looking the man from head to toe.
Jay nodded, sitting down in the armchair next to the couch, his legs spread out again but this time a little more apart. "Thanks. Needed a change, thought this might help." he said, keeping a hand on the arm of the chair.
Ginger smirked, resting his arms across the back of the couch, watching Jay. "It definitely works for you, Cowboy." he said, nodding and biting his lower lip as he said the nickname.
Jay smirked back, seeing the look in Ginger's eyes and hearing the nickname come out of his mouth. He sat back in the armchair, getting more comfortable as he continued to look at Ginger.
"Yeah? You like the way I look right now?"
The team were at the bullpen, with Hailey sitting in front of her computer. They were trying to pull up Jay's old case worker files. They found the file and pulled it up. Hailey was the first to see it, and was now looking at Jay's file photo from when he was 21 in RHD.
Hailey looked down at the file for a second. "It was his second year in RHD. He would've been only 21 in that photo." she responded, her eyes still on the photo.
Everyone could see what she was looking at, the black eye clear on his face in the photo. Kevin was shocked at the photo. "What the hell happened? Why does have black eye? And why is he wearing a gown?" he asked, still looking at the photo.
Kim was looking at the photo as well, seeing the black eye in the photo. "I don't know. Maybe something happened during an undercover job."
The team were all sitting in the van, watching Ginger and Jay go into the warehouse. They settled into their chairs and started to watch the feed from the camera. The team were watching as Ginger was looking around the warehouse, Jay following close behind him.
They saw as Ginger walked over to Jay and pushed him roughly against a car, making him bent over with his hands flat on the hood and his legs spread.
The team all sat in the van, watching as Ginger pushed Jay against the car. They watched as he started feeling over Jay's body, his hands getting more and more intimate.
"What the hell does he think he's doing?" Voight said, looking at the screen, feeling his anger rising.
They all watched as Ginger ran his hands up Jay's side, going across his stomach and over his chest. "That creep is getting way too comfortable with him. What does he think he's playing at?"
Everyone was watching the screen, their blood starting to boil as they saw Jay's situation. They were all starting to move out of the car. "That's it. We need to go in now." Voight said, already moving out of the car, everyone else following.
They were all moving into the warehouse, trying to stay as quiet as possible. "We just need to be quick." Kim said, as she moved closer to the open part of the warehouse.
They all were spread out across the warehouse, all of them watching how Ginger was treating Jay. They were watching as Ginger was holding Jay by the back of his head, slamming him rough on the floor. Everyone was standing there watching. They all had shocked looks on their faces as they watched Ginger slam him on the floor and pull him up and started holding him in a headlock behind him.
"Jesus. That guy is gonna get himself killed." Adam said, watching Ginger pull Jay off the ground and then wrap an arm around his neck, keeping him close against him.
Everyone was watching as Jay got his gun and shot Ginger in the neck. Ginger let out a gurgling sound, letting go of Jay and falling to the ground.
Then suddenly everyone broke out of the silence and started moving, running over to Jay. Voight was the first over to him, holding his shoulders and looking into his face. "Are you alright? You ok?" he asked, looking him over for any injuries.
Jay nodded, taking some deep breaths. "Yeah. I'm good. He was just a little rough, but I'm alright." he said, resting his hand on the back of his neck.
