It was a hot summer day, hotter than usual. Because it is in Africa. More specifically, in the African savannah. The Tennysons had decided to take a vacation there.
"Hahahahaha!"
Suddenly, they heard laughing in the distance. -Hyenas! -Gray spotted ones! They were chasing a giraffe and her calf.
"Let's get 'em boys!"
"Come back here little guy! I'm gonna eat ya! Hehehehe!"
Now, the animals can't actually talk (they were given dialogue for the sake of this story). They hyenas managed to corner the giraffes into a rock wall, "We got you now! Hahahahaha!" one of them said while laughing.
"SHENZI!"
"Huh?!"
ROAR!
"AAH!"
Suddenly, a huge lion appeared! It was the current leader of the pride in this part of Africa, he was known in the pride as "Mufasa".
ROAR!
"Get out, Shenzi! You and your hyenas will overhunt again!"
"Let's go!"
The hyenas then ran off, disappearing into the distance. "Huh, I guess that lion really wanted those giraffes." Ben said to himself as he watched from afar inside the Rustbucket.
That night, the Tennysons stopped in the middle of nowhere to sleep. They slept inside the RV so that they would get protection from the elements and wild animals outside. But as they were sleeping...
"AAH!"
"HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
CHOMP! CHOMP! CHOMP!
"HAHAHAHA!"
One of the natives were being chased by hyenas! The same ones that tried to corner those giraffes. They tried biting at him, but the native was frantically running. "AAH!" he screamed again as he continued to run. When the Tennysons heard the noises, they woke up. Ben turned on the lights and looked outside. He saw the man continuing to run from the hyenas. "Hey! That guy's being chased by hyenas!" said Ben, "What?! A-Alright." replied Max before he took out his blaster. Ben then got ready with the Omnitrix (the watch-like device) and slammed on it.
FLASH!
Ben and Max went out the Rustbucket, before starting to stop the hyenas. Ben had transformed into "XLR8", his fastest alien. He dashed towards the hyenas and knocked them out.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
While the hyenas were down, Max inserted two shells into the side of his blaster and fired them. These shells contained nets which can capture almost anyone and anything. As the shells flew, they opened up revealing the nets inside. They captured two of the hyenas. Then, Max quickly inserted another shell before firing it at the last hyena.
After the hyenas were captured, Ben and Max took a good look at them. Max's blaster had a flashlight on the bottom of its barrel, and Ben could use the Omnitrix's power source to illuminate the area. When they took a good look at the hyenas, they could confirm that they were the same ones that tried cornering the giraffes before being chased away by the lion.
"Asante." the native said to Ben and Max, "What?" asked Ben. "He said thank you." said Max, "Oh. Well, you're welcome." added Ben. Suddenly, the Omnitrix started glowing before beeping twice. "Translator activated." it said after it stopped beeping, "Translator?" said Ben. But the African heard him say it in his language due to it being activated. "Mfasiri?" the African asked, "Well anyway, you can go back wherever you came from. We'll deal with these hyenas." Ben continued. "Asante." the African said again, before walking off.
"W-Was that...?"
"Yep, he's one of the natives."
"Oh. So... what do we do with those hyenas?"
"Put them back where they belong."
And so that's what the Tennysons did, they put the hyenas back in their home. -It was an elephant graveyard of some sorts! Weird home for hyenas. After they put the hyenas back there, they left.
A few days after the hyenas were put back in their natural home, the native came back to the Tennysons along with a few other people. They told them about a lion and the three hyenas working together killing people. Ben and Max agreed to help, and Max drove to where the lion and hyenas were said to be.
Ben and Max waited behind some bushes, Gwen stayed inside the Rustbucket as she didn't have anything she could use to attack the lion and hyenas let alone defend herself. Ben and Max ended up waiting for a few minutes, until...
GRRR!
HAHAHAHA!
They heard growling and laughing. -It was them! The lion and the hyenas! The hyenas were the same ones that tried attacking the native a few nights back, but the lion was completely new to them. It had dark brown fur, a fully black mane, green eyes and a scar on its left eye. It was known as "Mla Mtu" by the natives which meant "man eater", and the name was very fitting because it was attacking the people. Mla Mtu roared to show that he was ready to kill anyone.
Max got ready to fire at both the hyenas and the lion, and Ben got ready to transform. All of a sudden...
HAHAHAHA!
Ben and Max heard some laughing behind them! When they turned around, they saw more hyenas coming towards them! Ben quickly transformed into something, while Max started firing with his blaster.
PEW! PEW! PEW!
FLASH!
Tough blue skin covered Ben's body, followed by huge muscle growths and the multiplication of his arms into four.
FLASH!
"Fourarms!"
The hyenas tried to attack Ben and Max. However, Max was able to hold his own against them. And Ben simply beat them up. "Let's see you guys laugh after this!" said Ben as he continued. However, what he didn't realize was that Mla Mtu was sneaking up behind him. Max saw the lion and yelled "Ben! Look out!".
ROAR!
PEW!
Max shot Mla Mtu as he tried to pounce on Ben. While the lion was down, Ben grabbed it by the throat. However, some of the hyenas started to attack him.
HAHAHA!
CHOMP! CHOMP! CHOMP!
"Get away from me you filthy scavengers!"
BAM!
Ben and Max continued to try and fend off both the hyenas and Mla Mtu. Mla Mtu got another chance to sneak up behind Ben and pounced on him. This time, he succeeded and was able to hold on to Ben's back. "Argh! Get off me!" shouted Ben as he grabbed Mla Mtu by his mane and threw him across.
THUD!
Mla Mtu accidentally hit a big rock. He was able to get up, but he could no longer fight. He was having a hard time walking, and his back seemed like it was in pain. Meanwhile, the hyenas continued to try and nip at Ben. But Ben was too strong, and his skin was too tough. Just then, one of the hyenas tried to go for his throat. But he quickly grabbed it while it was jumping in mid-air and threw it so high up.
"YAAH!"
The hyena let out a loud yelp, before disappearing into the air. "We'll get the last laughs! Haha!" said Ben, before punching some more hyenas away. Just then, a large pack of hyenas swarmed him all at once. But he was able to shake them off with his strength. Max helped by firing at them.
PEW! PEW! PEW!
"WOOHOO! OH YEAH!" shouted Ben as he knocked out the rest of the hyena clan. Soon, all of them were down. "Phew, I think that's the last of 'em." said Ben as he put the one he was carrying down. "Asante." the native thanked Ben and Max. Just then, the Omnitrix's translator activated again. Once Ben noticed this, he replied "No problem.".
Ben and Max took the hyenas back to where they belonged, -in the elephant graveyard. To keep them, Mla Mtu (wherever he may be) and other predators away from the natives' village they built a huge barrier on a long gorge called "Wildebeest Valley", Wildebeest Valley is a gorge inhabited by (you guessed it...) wildebeests. "There, that oughta do it." said Ben who was currently in his "XLR8" form before changing back into his human form. "Well, they'll be safe now." added Max.
Soon, Ben and Max went to check on the village to see if everyone in there was alright. Thankfully, they were. "Asante kwa msaada wako, Ben na Max. Sasa, tutakuwa salama." the same native thanked them, "No problem." replied Ben.
After a few more days in Africa, the Tennysons went home. The things that had happened to Ben and Max were "wild". Ben and Gwen were currently watching National Geographic Wild. They were about to skip over it when they saw that the channel was documenting the pride of lions that Mla Mtu belonged. They saw him throw his brother Mufasa off one edge of Wildebeest Valley.
"AAH!"
"NO!"
Of course Ben and Gwen couldn't understand what Mufasa and his son (Simba) said, the Omnitrix couldn't translate living beings through TV. But they didn't need to know that, they already knew what they were thinking. Gwen gasped in shock, "Hey! That lion killed his brother!" Ben yelled in surprise. Max just stared at the TV screen wide-eyed, but he didn't do that for too long. He knew some male lions would expel other males from prides, but he didn't think that it would happen this way to this pride. And he was also surprised that it took this long for Mla Mtu to kill the only other adult male lion in the pride. Typically, male lions are expelled from prides at three years old. But Mla Mtu overthrowing and killing Mufasa took until complete adulthood, likely because he was skinnier and weaker.
"Well... it was bound to happen. This sometimes happens in lion prides." said Max, "Yeah I know, but I'm surprised he killed him that way. But I guess he wouldn't be able to kill him himself because look at him. He's thinner and weaker, so I guess he thought of a better plan." replied Ben. "Nature taking its course." Gwen spoke.
That night, Ben laid in bed. He thought about Mla Mtu and what would happen to the pride he belonged in. Would the other lions find out? He didn't know, National Geographic Wild couldn't record what happened after that. But he didn't think about it too long and soon went to sleep.
Meanwhile, in the pride which Mla Mtu belonged he was announcing the death of his brother and the supposed death of his nephew (Simba).
"Mufasa's death was a tragedy. But to lose Simba who had barely begun to live... It is with a heavy heart that I assume the throne. Yet out of the ashes of this tragedy, will come the dawn of a new era. -In which lions and hyenas join together."
