Don't get her wrong, Izzie didn't like the facility that was flashing red lights and beeping for who knows how many hours, but she got to meet her brother, albeit a twisted version.
When she met Mateo again, he had a low side ponytail, oversized clothes, the hoodie was really unique – it was blue with strange moving golden stripes, and had glowing eyes, legs and hands, plus horns and wings that looked like they were made of light. And he looked confused, like he actually didn't know anything.
This version of Mateo when she first met him like this, was searching for something, desperately, like his life depended on it.
He didn't really even react, just like Sneak said, it was like her brother was in a trance, right before she called out his name.
Only then did he start to resemble his old self, his humanity, her brother, it was like he remembered something important.
And he talked, in a distorted voice, but it was still his voice.
And she couldn't help but be happy.
In spite of that, her brother didn't really seem to care, he just disappeared within seconds and appeared even faster with the Never Witch and Logan.
He just kept doing that left and right, resembling literal thunder and light by just flashing and being intangible while flying across the facility in unseen speeds.
In a few seconds everyone appeared right in front of them. Some looked terrified and traumatized, especially Cooper and Night Hunter.
What did those two see?
But she didn't really have time to ask or think.
A zombie-like Mateo materialized right before her eyes. He had his head slightly lowered, but his face still couldn't be seen. His body language screamed that he was exhausted. The wings and horns that were there before nearly melted and disintegrated, all the glowing and golden was fading rapidly. His breathing was dangerously loud and rapid.
Izzie nearly let out a scream for life (in a bad way), she quickly covered her mouth to ask Mateo how he was feeling (since he was clearly in a bad condition) but, instead, a cute squeak let out of her.
Nearly everyone looked at her, as if saying 'Did she really just let out that sound? It was so cute!' Beau and the Night Witch were the only exceptions.
"It…We…Need… To leave… Come… The Night Bureau… Soon…Catch everyone… Run!.. To… Bonsai…Break… Forward!" He grabbed Izzie and started running in human speeds, evading blasts while at it. The others just followed Mateo blindly - they had no idea where they were running off to.
"So we just expect him to know where he's going?" Dizzie asked.
"Yeah, apparently. And if that doesn't work, we have a plan B." Beau answered while running.
The same chase continued for 30 minutes, until they actually reached the end of the hall, where a bonsai-looking tree was standing, but it was a lot more colorful and had weird heart-looking petals all around it.
Mateo just kept running forward.
"Uh… He's going to stop, right?" Logan was getting concerned.
But no, Mateo, while holding Izzie, went right through the wall, breaking it in the process, jumping out of the facility and falling down the island it was built on.
The group just stopped and stared in awe at what just happened.
But when they processed all that Logan, Cooper, Dizzie and Zoey screamed:
"Mateo! Izzie! Where are you?! Are you two OK?"
"We're OK, just Mateo's beat after all that and a little bruised, but overall, we're fine!" Izzie shouted back.
"How the heck are you two alive?!" Cooper screamed.
Soon, the sound of a familiar spaceship was heard.
It was Albert and Oz's spaceship.
"I thought it was obvious." Izzie shot back, holding her barely-conscious brother while being on top of that spacecraft. "Jump on! We're going home, away from all of this."
Everyone did so as told.
"Isn't it weird that we didn't really need all that help for this mission. That search you went on was pretty much useless! Hah! Uhh… I'm not helping am I? Ugh. Come on Z-blobby." And the blob just materialized from under the seat, no one really saw him before, they thought he ran or slithered off somewhere, but apparently not.
Izzie questioned the fact that Z wasn't on the same sofa as Mateo.
Something felt off.
For the rest of the trip, everyone was deeply watching Mateo, especially the Night Hunter, Zoey, Izzie, Z-blob and the Never Witch, not saying a word.
A few seconds before Mateo (AKA Day terror) completely fell unconscious he thought:
"I didn't reach the darkness… It was my priority… My purpose!.. Why did I help them, instead of worrying about what might happen to… Me… and… Him…"
The Day terror completely left Mateo's mind.
Now, the mind only comprised of Dream Sand, Z-blob, someone's hourglass and himself, readying to reach endless boundaries.
