Disclaimer: Tensions sure are running high if the last chapter is anything to go off of. Let's hope this chapter resolves things smoothly. I think this is the most serialized I've gotten yet. I could be wrong though. Season four exists after all.
Also, I don't own Paw Patrol.
Paw Patrol X
Powered Up Pooches arc Episode Fourteen: Saving The Pirated Canine
The night after Arrby left Adventure City to save Sid, he found himself drawing near Slash's base. He made his way over their without hesitation, only to get spotted by the lasers. Arrby turned on the shields, but because the helicopter was finished in a hurry, they weren't as stable as they were on Skye's current helicopter. They shook his helicopter, and he struggled to keep it together. He launched a missile at Slash's base, managing to hit the wall to some of the cells. Sid noticed this from one of the cells, looking out the window and seeing Arrby's helicopter.
Arrby became overjoyed when he saw Sid, but got hit by a third laser, causing him to struggle with controlling the helicopter again. When a fourth laser hit, Arrby got shaken so hard that he hit his head on the window. The fifth laser caused his helicopter to start falling when he held onto the door. Good thing it was locked. Arrby didn't know what to do as the helicopter fell towards the water. He tried to regain control, but the helicopter was flying too fast. So he opened the door before it fell in.
Arrby jumped out of the helicopter, which continued to fall before landing in the water. Arrby swam away as fast as he could, being carried by the wave that came up after the helicopter exploded. Arrby tried to maintain his breath, only to then be covered by a searchlight. When he looked up while shielding his eyes, he saw Slash and Victoria in their own helicopter. It was almost as if they were waiting for someone to arrive. It may not have been Arrby, but at least they had someone new. Arrby was unsure of what to do, seeing as he was caught as well now.
The next day, Wave and Snow were comforting Liberty in the HQ living room, where Chase and Ryder scanned for Arrby just as Charm, Rocky, Zuma, and Skye entered the room. Rocky was holding some kind of small device that seemed to be the cause of why Skye didn't go after Arrby right away. "Okay. It took an all nighter, and a lot of coffee, but it was worth it. Because I got the device." Rocky felt his stomach start to growl as he put the device away, just in case it could be used later. "Now if you'll excuse me... I need the toilet."
Rocky went as quickly as he could to the toilet, and once he did, Ryder got to work on assigning everyone for the mission. "Alright then. With that out of the way, we're ready to set out for Slash's base again. We just spotted the helicopter Arrby stole having crashed there with our scanners, so we can rescue both of them if we're quick enough."
Liberty got up and ran over to Ryder with Wave and Snow behind her as she spoke up. "I wanna go Ryder! Let me help save Arrby!"
Ryder wanted to let Liberty help, but there was one cautionary detail that prevented him from doing so. "Sorry Liberty. We can't risk anyone's meteorite's getting stolen again. Rocky barely got away with his last time."
"That won't happen with me!" Liberty assured Ryder, having given a lot of thought to this before making her request. "I have my power now, and I'm resistant to Victoria's shocking powers! This mission's perfect for me!"
"Which is why they'll try extra hard to get your meteorite." Ryder pointed out, kneeling down to Liberty as he further explained why she couldn't go. "Not to mention, the base is covered head to toe in demons. And after our encounter with the super demons Slash sicked on us, it's even more risky for those who aren't immune to go in."
Even though Arrby hurt Liberty's feelings, she was clearly upset about not being able to help him. She also wanted to talk to him about yesterday, if he was open to it. "But... I don't wanna just sit here and do nothing!"
"I know Liberty. None of us do." Ryder said, rubbing Liberty's head after letting her know he was going to do so. "I'm sorry Liberty. I have to take every precaution I can."
Wave and Snow saw Liberty's disappointed expression, prompting Wave to give a suggestion. "What if Liberty goes in for backup? If it comes to it, we can send the members of the team who are best for rescues, and team up to save Sid, Arrby, and whoever gets sent first." Ryder gave the idea some thought, and Wave mentioned something else before letting him decide. "And as much as I don't want to, I know I haven't adjusted enough to my new arm yet to be one of them. So I'll be willing to sit out this time, if it'll get us the best results."
Ryder smiled, shaking Wave's paw while following up on her idea. "Not a bad idea Wave. I'll consider it."
"I sure hope so." Snow chimed in, showing that she wanted to be a part of the backup. She then started holding Wave's automail paw, showing that she was trying to adjust to her having it as well as possible. "I'll be looking out for her if it's approved."
Wave smiled to Snow before Ryder got back on track with the mission. "Your creation powers would be helpful. Once I make some extra adjustments to your Pup-Tags, you should all be eligible at least." Ryder then looked at Charm, who got fired up when Ryder addressed him. "Charm. You're one of our two Canines here who's immune, and you're the only one agile and tough enough to pull this off without powers. Would you be willing to help us out in this mission?"
Charm held his knife up with a crazy smile as he agreed. "As willing as I am to stick this in my father's back."
Later on at Slash's base, Charm was heading through the ventilation system again, which were given some enhancements to further prevent stealth. There were lasers inside of the vent moving either up and down, or from left to right, and Charm had to be careful when evading them. His tail almost got touched by one of the up and down lasers, but he tucked it just in time. Once Charm got past his current set of lasers, he peeked into a room and saw that it was surrounded by demons. This was the blacksmithing room as well, which made sense to Charm.
'Guess daddy didn't want me getting anymore augmentations off of his smarmy butt.' Charm thought to himself, continuing to crawl through the vents as he made his way through the second set of lasers. 'Good thing Ryder decided to refuse Liberty's request. If she were caught during the mission, she'd most likely get infected within a few minutes. And it might not even be her fault.' Charm then heard something nearby and looked back to find a little robot searching the vents.
Charm was put in a tight spot when he saw the robot. On one paw, he couldn't speed up because that would risk him being heard faster. On the other paw, if he didn't move quickly, the robot would be more likely to catch up to him. Once he reached the start of the latest set of lasers, he started going through carefully, neglecting to look back so he didn't risk getting touched. When he reached the end, he peeked through the vent to see which room he reached. It was the hallway of cells, which Charm quickly figured out was where Sid and Arrby were.
Charm looked to see one of the super demons scouting around the hallway. He was going to have to be quick if he wanted to take him out. Charm took out one of the mini drones Rocky let him bring, slipping it through so it could take out the cameras. Now was the matter of the demon. Charm had to act quickly if he wanted to take it out, and avoid being caught by the ventilation robot. So he started carefully unscrewing the vent, grabbing it just before it could fall.
Charm put the vent up and set his sights on the demon. When its back was turned, Charm jumped from the edge of the vent and stabbed it in the head with his knife. He also covered the super demon's mouth just to be safe. It took five stabs before the super demon died, but Charm was able to put it down. Charm then got an unsettling feeling as he looked around. This looked identical to the prison from his first base. It gave him flashbacks of his former self, whom he now despised. Those feelings stuck with him as he pressed on to find Sid and Arrby.
Back at the HQ, Liberty was getting a drink from the kitchen, where Chase was eating some donuts he got earlier. After Liberty pulled a strawberry soda out, Chase greeted her and offered her a pink frosted sprinkle donut. "Hey Liberty. You want one?"
Liberty closed the fridge when she looked at Chase, smiling at the offer of a donut. "Sure. Thanks Chase." Liberty accepted the donut, taking a bite out of it before heading off. "I should go set up the movie for when Wave and Snow get back." Chase took a bite out of his jelly filled donut as he watched Liberty walk off. He noticed her stop, and she was shown to have a look of hesitance. After swallowing her donut bite, she spoke up. "Chase?" Chase listened as Liberty looked back at him with a question. "You and Skye argue sometimes, right?"
Chase was surprised by the question, but quickly put two and two together, realizing this was in relation to when Arrby left yesterday. "Sometimes, yeah. Pretty much every couple does it a couple times. But it doesn't make their love any less genuine if they can survive it." Chase took another bite of his donut before walking over to Liberty. "I'm guessing you still have Arrby on your mind?"
As soon as Chase asked that question, Liberty flashed back to when Arrby blamed her for Sid being captured. "If you didn't cause the shards to fly out, Victoria wouldn't have had her power, and Slash might not have been able to capture Sid! Your impulsiveness kickstarted Slash's army capturing my best friend!"
When the flashback ended, she saw Chase looking at her with concern. She managed to muster up the courage needed to admit to this being the case. "It's pretty hard not to have it on my mind." After saying that, Liberty tried to hide how much she was hurting. However, Chase knew she was deeply upset about this. Why else would she ask him what she asked him earlier. "But it's gonna be okay. Almost every battle you guys had with Charm led to him being the winner. So he can save Sid and Arrby, and we can help both of them recover, and then-"
"Liberty." Chase interrupted, catching Liberty's attention as he leveled with her. "You know I'm here if you need me, right?"
Liberty kept her smile, despite knowing what Chase was trying to do. "Of course I do Chase. Why wouldn't I?" Chase's big brother instinct ended up kicking in for Liberty, the same way it would for any of his other platonic bonds in the team. So he offered Liberty a hug, which she accepted, despite being a little confused about where Chase was going. "Um, okay."
Chase took Liberty's paw, kneeling down to help her reach his height since she was a Dachshund. He got her attention again, this time, telling her something he learned thanks to the Paw Patrol, and her. "Hey. It's okay, to not be okay." Liberty looked at Chase's eyes, her smile starting to fade, and he gave a compassionate look, despite his worried expression. "And to need help." Liberty was finding it much harder to hide how hurt she was about Arrby's departure. And what he said to her before he left in the helicopter. "Don't be afraid to ask."
In that moment, the tears started rolling down Liberty's face. Once she did, she and Chase started the hug, with her being unable to hold her emotions back. She had no idea what was going to happen; whether Sid and Arrby would be okay, or if things would be okay if they saved them. The only thing she DID know was what SHE wanted. "I just want Sid and Arrby to be safe." Chase patted Liberty's back to help her continue letting out the tears. "It hurts not knowing if they're okay or not."
"I know Libby. I know." Chase assured Liberty. He was all too familiar with the fear of someone's ambiguous fate. It's something that's brought him fear ever since he started working in the Paw Patrol with Ryder in the team's first days. "We're acting as fast as we can. We'll do everything we can to make sure we save them."
Liberty did feel better thanks to Chase's comfort. But she was still hurting, revealing one of the reasons why as she kept crying. "I don't want the last time me and Arrby speak to be a fight." Liberty choked when she thought about what this could mean. "I didn't want to drive him away!"
Chase pulled Liberty away, taking it upon himself to assure her that Arrby leaving wasn't her fault. "You didn't drive him away Liberty. Arrby left on his own accord."
"That's not what HE said!" Liberty shouted, stating what Arrby told her before he left. "Right before he left... he said it was my fault Sid was captured. Because I touched that stupid meteor and got everyone their meteorites." Chase instantly got the urge to talk to Arrby after he got back. No way was he going to have him putting blame on one of his friends like that. "Maybe he's right." Those words from Liberty made Chase worry even more. "If I didn't touch that meteor..."
"Someone would've touched it anyway." Chase assured Liberty, hugging her again before making it clear that he and the others would work to make everything okay. "It's been stressful on all of us, these past few days. We're gonna get through it. I know we will. Together." When Chase said 'together', Liberty gave a weak smile. Chase could feel that she was starting to feel joy again, which made him happy as a result. Liberty had helped Chase recover from his deep feelings during his first week in the city. And now... he was finally able to return the favor.
Sid and Arrby were sitting together in their cell as they heard Charm running through the hallway. Charm skidded when he saw Sid and Arrby in their cell. He grabbed onto the bars as he addressed them. "About time I found you guys! And I thought Prison City was a gauntlet."
Sid and Arrby were glad to see Charm, running over to him as Arrby addressed his appearance. "Charm! Are we glad to see you. What're you doing here?"
"I'm here to save you and your owner you poop deck; why else would I be here?" Charm responded, and then he took a moment to address Arrby's reckless move. "Before I help you out..."
Charm punched Arrby in the face, making him fall to the ground with Sid helping him and yelling at Charm. "Hey! Don't do that again!"
Charm swatted Sid's hand away when he pointed at him, getting something off his chest before he risked setting off the alarm by breaking the cell bar. "Do you have any idea how scared everyone was after you left? We were already fearing for Wave's life when she lost her arm; we don't need any more lives making us wet outselves." Arrby felt bad for scaring everyone, but what Charm said next made him feel horrible. "Liberty had to watch you leave in a helicopter that you stole, and while the stealing part was pretty cool, you have no idea how much-"
"Liberty!" Charm interrupted, putting his paws up to the bars as he asked about her. "Is she okay? She's not here, is he?"
"No, we left her back at the Lookout to respond to backup." Charm answered, and then he sighed before explaining why he brought this up now. "Listen Arrby. You know about my past, right?"
"Yeah. You used to be the Paw Patrol's sworn enemy before Slash took your place." Arrby said.
"That's right. And in doing so, I kept myself and Rocky from being able to have a true bond." Charm explained, showing that he didn't want Arrby to be alone. "I spent so long not realizing how lonely I was, and how much I wanted companionship. I don't want anyone to go through that, including you." Charm looked into Arrby's eyes, making it clear that he hated his old self more than anything. "There are several reasons I hate my former self more than anything. And that's one of them."
Arrby started to clench his heart as he thought about how much he hurt the others; especially Liberty. Sid noticed that he was still wearing his pouch, so he put a small envelope in there. Arrby didn't pay much attention to this, making it clear to Charm that he wanted to escape with Sid. "Charm. Can you promise that you can get me, and Sid, back to Adventure City safely?"
"Sure can. Clear the way." Charm advised, and Sid and Arrby did as advised before Charm kicked one of the bars down, which set off the alarm. He then gave a call to Skye, reminding her to not hold anything back. "Skye! I found Sid and Arrby! You'd better be ready with that new helicopter armor!"
"Getting the laser and lightning armor ready now!" Skye informed Charm, allowing Charm to hang up.
Arrby facepalmed as he realized one of his other mistakes. "There was weaker armor on the helicopter I stole; that's why it fell down!"
"And now we have a ride with the right armor to get us out of here!" Sid added, running off with Charm and Arrby to escape as fast as possible. However, even after Charm took out the first demon that fell, it was still a huge risk to rush out of here with them.
Back at the HQ, Wave was lifting a forty pound dumbbell with her automail arm, which was small compared to what she could normally lift. Marshall took notes to how Wave was taking her time, focusing on she arm to make sure she adjusted to using it accordingly. With every lift, she felt the arm getting easier and easier to use. Despite her recovery having just started, it was clear that she was making great progress. Marshall smiled proudly, glad that Wave was being as proactive as ever. Wave smiled, further showing that she felt the same way.
Liberty entered the room, catching Wave and Marshall's attention. "Hey Libby! How're you doing?"
Liberty climbed up to the bed Wave was sitting on, which Marshall helped her with, since she was still recovering from her stab wound. "Well... I'm still worried about Arrby. But Chase and I talked, and he helped me realize that I didn't drive him away."
"Nah. You're too adorable for that." Wave said with a laugh to follow it up. Liberty joined her in the laugh with Wave continuing her weight lifting as she gave Liberty some advice. "Don't think too hard when we save Sid and Arrby. Just do what you think is right when talking to him."
The way Wave worded that brought Liberty hope. She said 'when' instead of 'if'. She seemed as confident as Chase did. "You really think we'll save them."
Wave gave a giggle before Marshall checked on Liberty's stab wound, wanting to make sure it was heating up. "To add to that, I'd say stay relaxed. Just like I'm gonna need you to be when I dress your wound."
"Okay." Liberty replied, relaxing as much as she could to let Marshall do his thing. However, as soon as he went to put the dressing on, Liberty relaxed a little too well, which led to...
PHHHHHHHHHHT
...a loud and bassy five second fart leaving her vibrating butt, letting out a pink cloud that smelt like donuts. Wave and Marshall were surprised by this, and so was Liberty. However, all three of them snickered at what just happened with Liberty apologizing. "Sorry. You can do the dressing now."
"I'll do that." Marshall said, and Wave held Liberty's paw as she winced at the feel of the dressing. She knew she'd need to go through this for at least three months. But with Wave and the others there to help her, it made it that much easier to get through. The sillier moments in between didn't hurt either.
Charm was taking down the demons one by one while making sure that Sid and Arrby were keeping up with him. He was about to make his way to Skye's location with them, only for a super demon to appear right before them. It aimed a punch at Charm, who deflected it with his knife before throwing a barrier back at Sid and Arrby. But another demon caught it just as a portal appeared in front of it. It crushed the barrier, stunning Sid and Arrby before stepping through. Charm slid underneath the super demon as Arrby bit the regular demon's leg.
Just before the demon could infect Arrby, Charm jumped on the demon and stabbed it in the back of the head. He then kicked the super demon, clashing perfectly with its kick before the super demon slammed him into the wall. The super demon then threw Charm after dragging him across the wall a bit. He regained his balance and charged at the super demon. "Bring it on Hulky!" Charm jumped over the demon and deflected its punch before landing behind it. "The other ones were getting old anyway."
The super demon clashed its punches with Charm's knife, and after Charm deflected one particular punch, it went in for the stab. The super demon was stabbed in the heart, but it managed to smack Charm into the window before he could stab its head. Charm broke through the window, but pulled out a grappling hook and used it to get back up there. When the super demon grabbed onto the grappling hook, he grabbed its swipe and jumped off of it. He was still grasping his knife and stood right in front of Sid and Arrby, refusing to let them get infected or killed.
Skye was arriving in her helicopter at that time, calling to Charm as she shot a sniper bullet at the demon and stunning it for a bit. "Charm! I heard the commotion and switched my location! I'll get as close as I can, but you'll have to jump!"
Skye started to get closer as the demon recovered from its stun. Charm saw this and knew he'd have to keep it busy so Sid and Arrby could escape. He tried to slash at it again after dodging its punch, but it teleported behind him and attempted to swat at him. He deflected it with his sword, but he still tumbled, and right over to the hole as well. The Super Demon made its way over to Sid and Arrby after Charm started tumbling back, and while Arrby was ready to fight, Sid had another idea in mind. Without warning, he slid Arrby around the Super Demon.
The super demon slashed at Sid and Arrby with Arrby's slide barely helping him evade it. His callback to Sid was one of horror and worry. "Sid!" The super demon slashed Sid's arm, sending him into the wall and making him slam into it. Charm ran past Arrby and at the super demon, only for another super demon to send him back after deflecting his slash. He stumbled over to Arrby, regaining his balance as Arrby watched in horror. "Sid! No! Please don't die!"
"I'll try as hard as I can Arrby!" Sid assured Arrby as the demon held him up. For some reason, the demon wasn't attacking him anymore. But the other super demon prompted Charm to take Arrby and run.
"NO! SID!" Arrby called back in horror. It hurt Charm to hear Arrby calling back to Sid in that fashion. He came all this way to save him, only for him to get infected in that moment.
Sid called to Arrby in that moment, guiding him to what he put in his pouch. "Arrby! Your Pouch!" This confused Arrby at first, and as the super demons continued holding him there as Charm made sure he and Arrby were in as tight as possible, he explained it. "I put something in there! Just in case I failed!" The super demon tried to jump at Skye's helicopter, but she flew away too soon for it to have enough range. What Sid called back pierced Arrby right in the heart.
"You'll always be my first mate!"
Arrby watched in pure sadness and disbelief. His mission was a failure. An utter failure. He put in all that effort to save Sid, and it was pointless. Charm placed a paw on Arrby's shoulder, doing his best to comfort him in this time. "Well... at least we can stop his infection. Even though finding the right super demon is..." Arrby put his paw up, telling Charm that he could stop. "Sorry; I'm not good at this." Arrby appreciated it anyway. He was just too heartbroken to show it. His best friend, still captured. And now, he was going to become a super demon.
On the way back, Arrby was sitting next to Charm, contemplating what just happened. During this, Moby gave a call to Charm on his headset, wanting to know what happened. "Charm! You're still okay. Sorry it took me so long to get involved in the mission. The ride home has been taking longer than I thought."
"Not a problem Moby." Charm assured Moby. But when he looked at Arrby, he was struggling to come up with good news to say. At least any kind that wouldn't upset the distraught Dachshund. "Things didn't go quite as planned. Slash's super demons really know how to overpower someone when they're alone."
"That doesn't surprise me. They're supposed to be enhanced versions of the demons you were given blood from." Moby's mention of how Charm's demon blood led to him looking at his knife. He wondered if he could've utilized it more to save Sid. "Does that mean you didn't save them?"
Charm looked at Arrby, who walked over to Skye to get a better view of what was going on outside the helicopter. "I managed to save Arrby. I might've been able to save Sid if I remembered to bring that fire sword I crafted the other day."
"Next time, I'll be online just in time to remind you!" Moby said, making Charm smile as Moby was then shown working on a model he started based on the Adventure City observatory. "If it helps, I'm really glad you were able to get out of there alive. You and Arrby."
Charm smiled, being more than happy to have Moby in his life. "Thanks Moby. I am too." Arrby saw Charm's smile and looked away with a look that showed his pain. Skye tried to comfort him as Charm and Moby were shown thinking about each other. However, Charm snapped himself out of it, not wanting to seem insensitive to Arrby's situation. "Anyway, I should get going now. I have to prepare for when I report to Ryder."
"Says the Demon Blood Vigilante." Moby replied, getting a laugh out of Charm. He certainly loved that nickname he gave to himself. "So... yeah. I'll be here. Waiting for when we talk again."
"I'll call when I can. Try not to die before I do." Charm said before ending the call, leading to a snort from Moby before they hung up. Despite the bizarre way he ended it, he was glad to have Moby check on him after his mission.
Skye was trying to comfort Arrby, letting him talk about how he felt regarding the situation. "And we have no idea how to tell the super demon who infected him apart from the others. The only thing we have is that it's a super demon, so obviously, we can't search the regular demons."
Skye knew exactly how Arrby felt about that. She hoped he would be okay with her sharing her own experience with him. "Can I tell you something Arrby?"
"Why not? I doubt I can feel any worse." Arrby admitted, making Skye feel even worse for him as a result.
Skye got started on telling her story. This was from the time she and the rest of the team went to Wolfland and Foxcadia. "This was a couple years ago, the first time we fought Slash. It was also the first time Charm fought alongside us. Chase got infected during an attack on Wolfland and turned into a demon. He only lasted until we got to Foxcadia for a new piece of shelter."
Arrby started to recall that story from when another member of the team told him. "I think Zuma told me that story once. It was after he and Wave got back from Twin Flame Island."
Skye could see that her attempt was having a positive impact. Or at least it was better than a negative one. "When Chase turned into a demon, I was horrified, and distraught, and I had no idea what to do." Skye looked at Arrby with some words of encouragement. "The joy I felt when we saved him, was unlike anything else I'd ever felt. And I know you'll feel it too once we save Sid."
"You're taking a big gamble with that reassurance Skye." Arrby said, knowing that wasn't a guarantee. "We'll have to make sure we get the right loot before we can truly say anything." Arrby's doubtful tone of voice told Skye just how much he was hurting. Losing Sid to demon infection clearly did a number on his optimism. And as Arrby looked out the window of the helicopter, and looked down at the ocean, all he could think about was the time he'd spent with Sid. It broke his heart to think about how low the chances of them doing that again were.
Wave, Snow, and Liberty were watching Charlotte's Web together back at HQ as Liberty held Chickaletta. Liberty laughed when the rat chasing birds got blinded by sand and crashed, and Wave and Snow smiled with her. "That's why birds fly ABOVE the beach."
Then, Charm arrived back up with Skye and Arrby, catching everyone's attention. Since Liberty had Chickaletta, Wave was the first to jump over the couch after pausing the movie. "You're back!" Wave ran up to Arrby and hugged him, knowing that must've been terrible for him. "You must've been scared for your life in Slash's base!"
"That's one thing I felt." Arrby admitted, and then he started thinking about Liberty again. "Is Liberty here?"
"Yeah, she's watching Charlotte's Web with me and Snow." Wave answered, smiling to Arrby as she assured him that they'd get Sid back, indicating that Charm filled Ryder in on the way back. "And don't worry. We'll do everything we can to get Sid back. I can promise you we'll give it our all!"
Arrby was grateful for that, even though the image of Sid turning still hurt him deeply. "Thanks Wave. I'll keep that in mind."
Skye patted Arrby's back with Charm nodding to him, and Snow came over with Liberty while snarking about Arrby's methods. "And we'd appreciate if you didn't pull a Wave next time."
Wave snorted before heading off with Snow, knowing that Liberty wanted a moment to talk to Arrby. "Okay Snow. I think we should leave Liberty and Arrby to talk things out." Wave smiled to Liberty, who nodded back before looking at Arrby.
Liberty and Arrby walked up to each other, both unsure of what to say. After thinking about what he said, Arrby figured he should start the conversation. Not that he knew what to start with. "Hey."
Liberty wasn't sure what to say either. She knew Arrby just went through a lot, so she didn't want to blow up at him. "Hey."
After a few seconds of his remorse being made obvious, he gave Liberty the apology she deserved. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that." Liberty listened to Arrby, letting him explain himself before she responded. "I was scared of what would happen to Sid, and angry that Slash's army got a hold of him. I shouldn't have taken it out on you. I only did because all I could think about was... well... you know." Liberty nodded her head yes in understanding. Arrby sighed before finishing his apology. "Honestly? I think a part of me wanted to hurt you."
"Well... you did." Liberty admitted, making Arrby's heart ache after she did. "At first, I thought you didn't want to be around me anymore." After hearing that, Arrby felt even worse about blaming her. Liberty expressed her feelings about what Arrby did when she made sure he was done. "But that wasn't what upset me most. You were right about it being stupid of me to touch the meteor before Ryder inspected it after all. Even if the way you told me was hurtful." Liberty stepped closer to Arrby, surprising him with what she said next. "After you left... I couldn't stop fearing you were gonna die!"
After that confession, Liberty and Arrby looked at each other in silence, unsure of what to say next. Arrby was at least glad that Liberty didn't hate him. But he still felt awful for hurting her. He just hoped he could make it up to her for real someday. For now, there was one thing he wanted to know. "Are we... still friends?"
Liberty smiled, being glad that Arrby still wanted to be friends. And she was just as happy to confirm it. "Of course we are! All I could think about before my wound check was if you were okay! And if you saved Sid."
Arrby's face dropped when he started to think about Sid. He was too scared to look at whatever he put in his pouch. He shook it off to focus on Liberty. "If your friends are right, then I'll get him back soon."
"And I'll be right there to help you do it." Liberty assured Arrby, walking past him after hugging him, much to his joy. He was left relieved that Liberty didn't hate him for what he did. But what she did next surprised him quite a bit. She surprised him with a kiss on his left cheek, making them both blush with Liberty smiling afterwards. "I'm glad you're back." Liberty headed back over to the couch Wave and Snow shown to be watching. Wave was silently squeeing at seeing Liberty kiss Arrby's cheek, and Snow smiled as well before they headed back to the couch.
Arrby wanted to ask if he could join the movie, but he didn't want to make Wave, Snow, and Liberty rewind for his sake. Regardless, he was extremely happy to have gotten that cheek kiss from Liberty. Obviously, he was still deeply hurt about Sid having turned. But in that moment, he could feel that his feelings for Liberty were still as strong as ever. He couldn't know for sure since it was his first time being in love. But he hoped that he and Liberty bouncing back from this drama made them stronger.
Dramatic music started playing as Snow started talking about what was going to happen with specific moments from the next chapter being shown. "Dad!? What the heck are you doing here!? Oh. Of course you saw us on TV; it's the only thing that makes sense. Fine, I'll go with you. Wave and Liberty have plans with Arrby, and I have some questions anyway. Everest, he's really starting to set me off! He'll regret it when he remembers I don't need mom to pretend to protect me anymore!"
Snow finished the announcement with the words Paw Patrol in all blue with red outlines surrounded with a white border with Wave on the right, and Marshall on the left.
