First thing's first, a dream will happen. Then we'll get to the main story. Yume's unconscious, which gives me the perfect excuse for this. Although, a quick thing that I'll mention is that I'm leaving Yume's dreams in 1st person, okay?
Also, to everyone who has been watching this story, I apologize immensely for the long hiatus, as I have not been online for so long. So here's the next chapter!
I walk down the halls, knowing my parents calling, I have to win this. My deck is ready, and I approached the Kaiba brothers, who are now in stone. I grabbed Kaiba's deck and shuffled it with mine. "He still has Life Points remaining, Noah!" I told him as he had merged with his Deck Master, Shinato.
"I'm taking his place, and you know it!" I stepped forward. He agreed on that, and lifted up two pieces of ground, one I'm on and one he's on. Well, his Deck Master, but it doesn't care, right?
All along the duel, I realized one thing. I might be beaten and failed Dad. I got down and cried lightly, tears falling from my face. I heard someone, but it was very faint. "Yume, don't give up!" It was a bit of support with some force in it, but I could've sworn I recognize that voice.
"Stand up and fight back! You know who you're dealing with." I think I'm starting to know who this person is. Could it be… my father?!
I start getting back up and faced him. "Noah! As the daughter of Yugi Muto, I will destroy you! Just like how he beat you!"
"Yugi, huh? I could've sworn I heard that name before."
"Well. maybe this next card should bring back memories!" I prepared to draw my card, hoping that it's the one I need and defeat him. I let the heart of the cards guide me as I drew it. I could feel the wings on my back, yet I know I must win this!
But I couldn't do it alone. I needed to call forth my powers from within. I just stood there, waiting. He tells me to hurry up, and that's when it clicks. I felt more pain coming from my back as I grunted, getting on my knees! I felt my face change as my mouth starts to become a beak.
One of my arms started growing hair at a faster rate than the other one, until it looks like a different kind of arm, but with talons. Same with one of my legs. I knew that this is the true me!
"She'll be okay." Someone said, wearing a necklace with the Eye on it. "My necklace does tell me that she'll wake up right close to the next duel."
She predicted correctly, as Yume started opening her eyes. When she could open them, she saw Ishizu there. "Hey, Ishizu. What happened?"
"My necklace told me that you would take the fire for Joey and Mai, then fall unconscious. I showed up here and made a promise to myself that I'll watch over you until you woke up. Now that you are up and well, I must get to my duel." She got up and was about to leave her room.
"Wait, Ishizu!" She stopped and turned around. "Let me come with you. I want to see your duel. In fact, do you know how it ends?" She nodded, and both girls got to the elevator that brings them up to the top of the Kaiba Corp Blimp.
"You've got some nerve," they looked and saw Seto ready, "showing up late to duel me! Were you even scared?" Ishizu and Yume both walked to Yume's friends, then Ishizu came onto the platform to face Seto. "Did the thought of facing a duelist as superior as myself make you second guess your own abilities? Who are you?!"
Ishizu just stood there but removed her face guard. "What is your name, eighth duelist?" She introduced herself as Ishizu Ishtar.
"That's the woman we saw, right, Yume?" Joey turned to her. "At that Egyptian exhibit?"
"Yami knows it, Joey. And she told me how it went."
~FLASHBACK~
Yami and Joey were looking at a design of a five-thousand-year-old duel, when someone spoke from behind them. "Pharaoh's Apprentice! You are here!"
They turned around and saw a woman in a pure white dress with some design, but a Millennium Item around her neck. "Who are you?" Yami asked.
"My name is Ishizu. And I have uncovered many mysteries and secrets about you and these ancient carvings using the magic of my Millennium Necklace."
~END~
"We meet again, Seto Kaiba."
"So, you've come to win back Obelisk. Is that right?"
"What I've come for is of greater importance." She looked at Marik. "I've come here to save my brother." She turned back to Seto. "For the past 5,000 years, an Ishtar has stood guard over the Pharaoh's tomb along with his Apprentice. Only Marik… he turned against us and the evil within him is even stronger now. He is my brother."
"She did watch over me when I was knocked out." Yume said.
"If you remember, Kaiba, my Millennium Necklace has the power to show me events that are yet to come. And right now, it tells me that you will lose this duel to me!"
"ENOUGH with the Millennium Items! I don't believe in that nonsense, is that clear?! And as for this duel, just because you were foolish enough to hand me Obelisk, The Tormentor, doesn't mean that I won't use it to destroy you now! And I don't appreciate you using my tournament to solve your personal family issues."
'Yami, I don't believe it! Kaiba's just… ignoring Ishizu's notice for helping Marik! At least she'll know who wins.'
'Yume.' She gasped as she heard Ishizu. 'The Pharaoh's power from within the Millennium Puzzle, and my powers from within the Millennium Necklace, allows me to transfer my thoughts to your head. From what I can tell, Kaiba will attack using Obelisk, The Tormentor and lose due to an effect of a card.'
She nodded. "But did you forget," Ishizu said to Seto after hearing about his reclamation on starting this tournament, "that it was my idea for you to organization the Battle City Tournament? To lure duelists… like Marik."
"SAY WHAT?!" Joey shouted out.
"And my plan worked, for my brother is here. But the hardest task is yet to come. The evil within him must be stopped. And this mission can only be accomplished with the help of the great Pharaoh's Apprentice, which is precisely why Yume needed to enter this tournament as well. For the ancient Pharaoh's Apprentice dwells within Yume's Millennium Puzzle."
"You went through all of that trouble, just because of some Egyptian fairy tale? How lame! I'm surrounded by superstitious nitwits."
"Do not deny your heritage. As I've shown you before, you, too, can trace your origins back to ancient Egypt."
"That is enough! I know who I am! I'm a far better duelist than you, and I plan to win this tournament," he looked at Marik, "regardless of what you and your demented brother may believe." He then turned back to Ishizu.
"You made two mistakes: the first was handing Obelisk to me; the second was expecting it back! That card is mine! And soon I'll possess the other two Egyptian God cards. Then I'll have the world's most powerful deck! And you can do a favor for me, take your hocus pocus nonsense to someone else's tournament! Because to me it's a waste of colossal time!"
He looked at his referee. "Let's start this duel, Roland!" The duel was started. They each activated their duel disks and drew their hands at 4000 Life Points, with Seto drawing one more to start.
"I don't need a magic trick to predict your demise! So, I will summon the mighty Vorse Raider!" His beast showed up with a two-sided ax.
'Yume, he's about to play a face down.' Yume watched and saw that Ishizu was right, and Seto placed one card face down and ended his turn.
"Kaiba," she said, "the power of my Millennium Necklace shall predict your every move, and you will suffer defeat."
I'm sure that, Yume thought, even though Kaiba's a skilled duelist, he's never won against a Millennium Item! He will never win!
Ishizu drew her card, then summoned Keldo in Defense Mode, all with her eyes closed. "I will now activate a powerful Magic card." She picked it up and played it. "Michizure of Doom! This lets me select two cards in your hand and you have to discard them. But the reverse also happens. And I choose Polymerization and Kaiser Glider."
She couldn't possibly have known, Seto thought, I had those two cards in my hand! He looked at his hand and saw them both. He took them both and discarded them. She must be cheating! "ENOUGH TRICKERY! Show me your cards right now!"
Ishizu revealed her hand. "Time for you to lose Revival Magic and Monster Reborn!" She discarded them, then ended her turn. "Let's see which is stronger, your tricks or my skills!" Seto drew his next card, then ordered Vorse Raider to attack her Keldo.
Vorse Raider came after it and slashed at it, destroying it. "Maybe your future isn't so bright! Perhaps if you spend less time predicting the future and more time focusing on your dueling you wouldn't be losing."
"You still don't understand, do you? I am aware of every twist and turn that will occur. I know exactly what card you're going to play before you do. And I know how you're going to lose."
"I don't know what kind of imbecile you think I am, but your little mind games won't work on me, Ishizu."
"This is going to be a tough duel." Joey called out. "Ishizu may be able to see the future, but Kaiba's got an Egyptian God card!"
"I'm placing one more card face down before ending my turn." Ishizu drew her next card.
"I summon Mudora!" Her masked mummy showed up with a blade. (ATK/DEF Points: 1500/1800.)
I am left, she thought, with no choice but to call upon the powers of my Millennium Necklace to ensure my victory! And it shows me that Kaiba will attempt to win this duel using the Egyptian God card I gave to him. However, Obelisk will fall by my hand, causing Kaiba's defeat. And his loss shall be my gain as I move closer to rescuing my dear brother.
"What's the holdup?"
"Patience, Kaiba."
"I used up my patience waiting for you to show up tonight. Now, GO already! The less I have to hear about your insane brother the better." Seto struck a nerve on Ishizu as she got a bit angry at him.
"How dare you insult my family! You'll regret those words!" She grabbed a card and played it. "I will now play the Magic card Sword of Dagra! It increases the attack strength of my Mudora by 500 Points! Now, attack his Vorse Raider!"
Got you, Ishizu! "Activate face down cards!" Both cards were revealed. "First off is Shrink, which cuts my Vorse Raider's Attack Points in half!" His Vorse Raider shrunk half his size. (ATK Points: 950.) "And as if that weren't enough, watch as my Crush card destroys both monsters as well as every powerful monster in your entire deck!" He laughed.
Ishizu saw it happening, but removed every monster with over 1500 ATK Points from her deck and hand and placed them in the Graveyard. "Looks like your left with nothing but a deck full of worthless monsters who pose absolutely no threat to me!"
"With my Millennium Necklace, I can beat you without using a powerful monster in my deck. So, watch as I stop you from attacking me for 3 whole turns! For now, I play this:" She took another card from her hand and played it. "Swords of Revealing Light!"
Swords of light came from her Magic card and surrounded Seto's field, preventing him from attacking for three whole turns. "Please enlighten me. If my future's bleak, why are you stalling?"
"I'm not stalling, Kaiba. Fate dictates our moves. And it's your destiny to lose! And I can clearly envision your downfall as you can't help but destroy yourself."
"Well, I have a prediction of my own: Once your Swords of Revealing Light are gone, I'll crush you with my Egyptian God card! So, while you count on fate to win this, I'll count on brute force!" Ishizu placed one card face down and ended her turn, saying it's only a matter of time.
Seto looked at his hand and saw that perfect strategy to destroy her deck even further. "It's my move!" He drew his next card, then summon Dark Gremlin in Defense. "Then I place a card face down."
Ishizu drew her next card, then passed her turn. "You stopped me from attacking for 3 turns, yet you still can't destroy me. So much for your prediction, Ishizu."
"Actually, Kaiba, you shall draw the card that will lead to your demise in two more turns." Seto just laughs, saying how insane she is.
"The only thing that I'm going to draw are cards that will lead to your own demise, Ishizu! Dual Monsters is about skill and power, not fairy dust and fate! All this talk is pointless! It's time for action now!" He drew his card and saves it and ended his turn. Then Ishizu did the same.
"You speak so much about your victory, yet other than stall for more time with your Swords of Revealing Light, you've done absolutely nothing to win this! And next turn your swords will be gone, allowing me to strike back and defeat you once and for all, Ishizu! So, beware!" Ishizu said that he would pass, and she was right.
She drew her next card. "The time to make your final move has arrived, Kaiba."
"For 3 whole turns, you've failed to summon a single monster. And now I highly doubt that I'm facing any danger at all. So, spare me the threats."
"My Swords will be gone, and you will be free to attack." The lights faded as Seto drew his next card.
She'll regret the day she handed me an Egyptian God card because that was the day that sealed her doom! And now it's time to finish her off! "Before I play this card, DARK GREMLIN, ATTACK HER LIFE POINTS NOW!"
The gremlin roared and approached Ishizu and clawed her, dropping her Life Points to 2400. "So, tell me, did you predict that would happen to you? The Dark Gremlin is the least of your problems, Ishizu! Because I plan to destroy you with my Egyptian God card now!"
"Your future is decided. Use Obelisk and you'll be destroyed."
"WRONG! You can't win! Nothing can save you from Obelisk's wrath! So, don't resist it! For the end is here! Do you still think destiny is on your side? Or have you finally faced up to the undeniable truth that this duel is mine!"
"I'm surprised about Ishizu!" Joey called out. "She's about to get stomped, yet she's keeping her cool. There is that chance where she does know something we don't."
"We just have to wait a bit longer, Joey." Yume told him, yet she knows about the outcome because of her. But the problem is, lots of her monsters are in the Graveyard, thanks to the Crush Card.
What happens when Ishizu lost the match? Would the dark Marik become even more stronger?! She joined this tournament to help me defeat her brother and to uncover the good inside him.
"You're most powerful monsters are in the Graveyard, and soon the rest of your cards will join them!"
"I'm well aware of your plan, Kaiba."
Then she has no idea what she's in for! "This is it! My face down card will finish you off!" He revealed it, showing Virus Cannon. "Virus Cannon, wipe out ten Magic cards from her deck!" His mecha-spider with a cannon showed up. "I'm about to destroy your deck, or what's left of it."
Virus Cannon took aim, and fired at Ishizu's deck, making it 10 cards shorter than what it was. "And now, almost every Magic card in your deck has been sent to the Graveyard! As if your pathetic deck wasn't good enough! First, my Crush Card destroyed all your high-powered monsters, then my cannon did the same thing to your Magic cards."
Ishizu picked the ten and sent them to the Graveyard. "Your deck is no longer a threat! Do you still think I'm going to lose?"
"You've played right into my hands, Kaiba. Now you've sealed your own fate."
"I've heard enough of your false predictions!"
"They are quite real. And now you've fallen right into my Trap! REVEAL EXCHANGE OF THE SPIRIT!" Her Trap was revealed. "This Trap card will be the beginning of your downward spiral towards defeat, Kaiba! At a cost of 1,000 Life Points, my Trap replaces the cards in each of our decks with those in our Graveyards."
When Ishizu's Life Points reach 1400, Seto realized that he has only six turns to defeat Ishizu!
By playing Exchange of the Spirit, Yume thought, Ishizu brought back all of her powerful cards back from the Graveyard and destroy Kaiba's deck at the same time!
"Kaiba sent almost every monster," she said to herself, "in Ishizu's deck right to the Graveyard. Now she gets them all back along with the Magic cards she lost last turn. But Kaiba's not so lucky. With only six, he has six turns to beat her, or else he loses the duel."
Ishizu drew her next card. "I summon Kelbek!" Her monster appeared.
'Yume,' Yami said to her, 'this outcome will come to a surprise when you see it. Even though he has six turns to win this, he still has that Egyptian God card in his hand. You'll need it to beat Marik's Ra along with Slifer's help.'
'I know, Yami. I want this duel to be finished, yet I have to be patient.' Ishizu places one card face down and ends her turn. Mokuba then appeared from the elevator and ran to Seto.
"Seto!" He cried out. "What happened up there?!"
"Never mind. Have you finished translating that card yet?"
"There's still one line left, Seto!"
Ishizu told him to make his move and said that he would draw Virus Cannon. He drew it, and saw that it was Virus Cannon! "I WILL NOT LISTEN TO ANYMORE OF THIS NONSENSE."
He placed his Trap card down. "ACTIVATE VIRUS CANNON!" His mecha-spider showed up again and prepared to blast Ishizu's deck, making ten of her Magic cards get sent to the Graveyard.
"My Trap will send it straight to the Graveyard." He gasped as she revealed her face down. "Activate Muko! I'm afraid that's the end of your cannon. And soon it will be the end of you, Kaiba!" He sent Virus Cannon to the Graveyard. "Have you accepted the powers of my Millennium Necklace yet? Or do you still deny that I have already forseen your defeat?"
Seto just told her to make a move. She drew her card, then summoned Zorga. Kaiba will be using my monsters using Soul Exchange to summon Obelisk, which will lead his path to defeat even closer than he expects.
"KAIBA!" Yume called out to him and he turned to her. "You're in over your head." He told her to stay out of this.
"This tournament of yours is more than just a game! Have you not seen the damage Marik has caused so far, the people he's harmed?! You might be next! There is an ancient magic at work that cannot be denied! If you continue to ignore it, you're a fool!"
Seto looked back at Ishizu and told her to make a move. "You'll regret those words, Kaiba. Zorga, attack his Dark Gremlin with CAPE OF DESTRUCTION!" Her monster attacked the gremlin, ripping it to shreds and sending his Life Points down to 2850. "That's not all though. Come forth, Kelbek, and attack his Life Points directly!"
Kelbek released a piercing energy beam on Seto, sending his Life Points down even further to 1350. "I'm not done yet, Kaiba. I'll play one more card face down, then I end my turn."
She must've placed a Trap down. But what is it? I need to avoid losing my Life Points long enough so I can summon Obelisk, the Tourmentor! Then this duel will be over! "I hope your ready." He drew his next card. "READY TO LOSE, that is!"
"Activate Trap card Muko!" Seto just bring his card back to the Graveyard. Then he places a face down and ends his turn.
She drew her next card, knowing that his face down is Soul Exchange, places a face down, then summons Agito. "Your three monster: Kelbek, Agito, and Zorga! Those monsters will be under my control and will soon be sacrificed! Reveal face down card, SOUL EXCHANGE!"
His Magic card got revealed as all three of Ishizu's monsters disappeared. "And now I will summon my Egyptian God card!" He played it down. "SHOW YOURSELF, OBELISK THE TOURMENTOR!" He laughed as his Egyptian God Monster takes the field.
"Still think I'm going to lose? Let's see which is stronger, your necklace or my Egyptian God card!"
"We shall find out."
"Counting on a piece of jewelery in order to win this duel is pathetic! To win a duel takes skill and an extremely powerful deck! You'll see that soon when I attack you with Obelisk, The Tourmentor and wipe out your Life Points!"
Ishizu closed her eyes. You are sadly mistaken, Kaiba. When I secretly played the Trap card Sacrifice's Blast, I infused my own monster with a self-destructive Trap, one that now lives within your Egyptian God monster. Waiting to destroy it from the inside!
Ishizu thought back about when Seto played Soul Exchange. When you activated Soul Exchange and sacrificed my 3 monsters to summon yours, this secret Trap card infected Obelisk, The Tourmentor. So, as soon as you use it to attack me, your Egyptian God card will self-destruct, taking with it the remainder of your Life Points. Then finally victory will be mine.
"Try as you may," she said to him, "there's no escape from the defeat that awaits you in your next move."
"Fat chance! You have no monsters left to protect you! So, spare me the gloom and doom speech, and just surrender to me now!"
Yume just looks at Obelisk, then back at Ishizu, thinking how she could win when Seto has Obelisk out. She shook her head, but when she looked at Ishizu's field, she saw a face down. Could it be that she'll win with that face down?
"No one can survive the fury of Obelisk!" Seto was about to order Obelisk to attack her directly, but something happened that didn't have him finish his attack.
This doesn't make sense. Ishizu thought. It should go how my Millennium Necklace told me…
~VISION OF THE NECKLACE~
"Now, Obelisk!" Seto called out. "Attack Ishizu with a Direct Attack and wipe out the rest of her Life Points with Fist of Fury!"
Obelisk prepared to charge up its fist. When it's fully charged, Obelisk was about to release the power, but, somehow, it started falling apart! Seto must've sensed it and turned around, to see Obelisk being destroyed.
"What's happened to my Obelisk?!" He shouted out. He turned back to Ishizu, and she's smiling. "What happened?!"
"You were destined to lose. Which is why I played this Trap face down." She revealed it. "Sacrifice's Blast. I infused it with one of my monsters with a destructive heart. When you attack with Obelisk, it self-destructed, taking out your Egyptian God card along with the rest of your Life Points as it uses your monster's Attack Points as damage!"
Seto just looked at his duel disk, which has his Life Point counter, and saw it dropping. Until it stopped at 0, signaling his lost.
~END~
Seto looked back at his hand and sees his Blue Eyes White Dragon. This goes completely against my strategy! He thought. I planned to destroy Ishizu with my Obelisk, but it seems like my Blue Eyes White Dragon is calling out to me! I know what I must do.
He faced Ishizu again. "Now to activate a Magic card!" He picks one and plays it. "Silent Doom! It lets me summon a card from my Graveyard! Gadget Soldier in Defense Mode!" His mecha-soldier appeared with its rocket cannon in front of it and tilted.
This is unlike what my Millennium Necklace told me! Everything has changed!
"But before I can summon my Blue Eyes White Dragon, I must sacrifice two monsters! First one would be my Egyptian God card, Obelisk!" He picked up the card and placed it in the Graveyard.
"This is unbelievable! And I thought Ishizu had this the whole time!" Yume said to herself.
"Hear me now: I WON'T BE CONTROLLED! I decide my future! So, now I sacrifice my monsters!" He removed Gadget Soldier as well, and they both disappeared. He noticed that Ishizu was clutching her Millennium Necklace and said nothing, but looked surprised.
"You seem quiet, Ishizu! Where's your magic now? Or have you realized that there's no such thing as destiny?!" She says nothing, and he continued. "Now, OBSERVE AS I SUMMON MY BLUE EYES WHITE DRAGON!" He placed it on his duel disk. "SHOW YOURSELF!"
His Blue Eyes started coming out and roared. "So," Ishizu said surprisingly, "somehow Kaiba was able to change the future by summoning his Blue Eyes White Dragon!" Something from Kaiba's past must have awakened inside him! For he was the ancient keeper of the Blue Eyes!
"Ishizu," Seto said, "if you could see all my moves, how did my Blue Eyes surprise you? Unless, of course, you're nothing but a fake, as I suspected! TIME TO FINISH YOU OFF NOW!"
His Blue Eyes came after Ishizu after a roar. "Blue Eyes White Dragon, ATTACK!" It started charging its white lightening. "Wipe out her Life Points with white lightening attack!" After charging up to its 3000 power, then released an energy ball at Ishizu.
When the attack was finished, Ishizu's Life Points dropped all the way to 0, with Seto having the win.
a/n Just to be clear, Ishizu met Yume after the match alone and told her what she knew about her. Then Ishizu gave her the Millennium Necklace because she said that the powers within had faltered on her.
She used it later, then see a place she doesn't know, dueling Yugi, but without either having the Millennium Puzzle, which ensures her that she'll beat Marik!
