Deep within the Haunted Woods, Kanrik led the others to lone cabin at the edge of a swamp.

"Looks eerie." shuttered Miet, stepping over the stones in the swamp water.

"Is this where the fairie lives?" asked Greyfang.

"No." answered Kanrik "A friend of mine lives here. She can help us get to her."

Kanrik knocked softly on the wooden door. Slowly the door creaked open. Everyone stepped in cautiously, until a green light appeared. An Ixi with a green dress and a witches hat shut the door behind them.

"And who might you be?" asked Ixi, grabbing their attention.

"Sophie. It is I. Kanrik."

"Kanrik? I don't know anyone named Kanrik!"

"I thought you said this was a friend." said Greyfang, backing away as Sophie emitted fire from her palms.

"Something isn't right." hissed Kanrik, wondering what had gotten into his friend.

Haraku, noticing something glaring from a above, looked up and saw a ghost standing in the hole on the roof.

"Look!" shouted Haraku, pointing at the ghost, frightening it away, but not before everyone could catch a glimpse of it.

"Ghosts." sighed Kanrik, before seeing Sophie fall to the floor "Sophie."

Kanrik ran to Sophie and picked her up, placing her on the cot.

"What's wrong?" asked Anshu "Maybe I could help."

"No. I'm afraid there's nothing that can be done at the moment." answered Kanrik.

"So how are we to find this faerie?" asked Greyfang.

"We will have to go to the source."

"What's the source?" asked Anshu.

"The gravesite."

Kanrik, Greyfang and Haraku journeyed to the gravesite, as Anshu and Miet stayed behind at the cabin with Sophie. Before them was an altar where the Ghost Lupe awaited.

"Ghost Lupe..." growled Kanrik.

"Adventurers. What brings you here?" asked the Ghost Lupe.

"I believe you know." said Kanrik.

"You seek part of the Shadow Amulet."

"Where is it?" asked Haraku.

"You think I will tell you?" laughed the Ghost Lupe.

"Why do you want to keep us from finding it?" asked Greyfang.

"Why, prey tell do you want to find it? Do you not know the power that it holds? Do you not know what it is capable of?"

"We don't care!" shouted Haraku "Give us the amulet!"

"I'm afraid I cannot."

Suddenly a ring of green fire surrounded the three. At the altar appeared a faerie with glowing green eyes.

"It's her." said Kanrik "Ilere."

"So this is the faerie we were searching for?" asked Greyfang.

"It is."

"Kanrik. Why have you come here?" asked the faerie.

"Ilere, we seek the piece of the Shadow Amulet." said Kanrik.

"What makes you think I will give it to you?" laughed Ilere, showing the piece of the amulet in her right hand.

"That's it." said Haraku "Hand it over faerie!"

"Take it."

Ilere tossed the amulet piece into the ring of fire and into Haraku's hands. Ilere and the Ghost Lupe vanished, leaving the three alone, but still surrounded by fire.

"Now how are we going to get out of here?" asked Greyfang.

"THERE!!!"

Up above them airships came in. Haraku looked closely, realizing it was the bandits.

"Bandits! They're after us!" hissed Haraku.

"And we're sitting ducks here!" growled Kanrik, looking for a way out "AAAAHHHH!!!"

Kanrik, with his blade shielding his face, leaped through the flames and headed away from the altar.

"Kanrik!" shouted Greyfang.

"He ditched us!" shouted Haraku "We should have never trusted him!"

"No... he didn't ditch us."

Through the swirls of green, Greyfang saw a glimpse of someone coming to aid them. The fires around them dissipated and the two were free.

"Come, follow me." commanded Ilere, as green flames erupted on the ships.

As the ships tumbled down, Ilere, Greyfang and Haraku were gone.

"No..." sneered the Bandit Leader, crawling from the rubble "Come on bandits! We'll search every inch of this swamp until they are found!"

"Sophie..."

"Sophie. Are you awake?"

"Huh?"

Sophie, awaking from her dazed state saw Kanrik standing beside her, with two of the strange neopets behind him.

"Kanrik... who are these guys?"

"This is Anshu. And this is Miet."

Sophie, confused, looked around.

"Weren't there more of you?"

"There were... but I left them."

"We should really go out there and look for them." said Miet.

"It's too dangerous." said Kanrik "I suggest we stay here for the time being."

"But what if Haraku is in trouble?" Miet worried.

"Haraku?" said Anshu, raising an eyebrow.

"You know what I mean. Kanrik, we need to go look for them."

"It's too dangerous." said Kanrik "If you go out there you're going to get caught."

Miet didn't care for Kanrik's words. He grabbed one of Kanrik's daggers and exited the hut on his own.

"He'll be back." said Kanrik "He'll be back."

"I hope you're right..." said Anshu "For his sake."

Meanwhile, in another part of the Haunted Woods, Ilere lead Greyfang and Haraku to a hidden crypt. It is there where they found the second piece of the amulet.

"Finally." cheered Haraku "Its right here."

"Don't cheer too soon." Ilere warned "You can't just take it out of here."

"What must we do?" asked Greyfang.

"There is an intricate puzzle you must solve, before entering to take it." said Ilere, pointing at the wall to the left.

"Figure out a puzzle? That seems easy enough." said Haraku.

"You need to solve in a short amount of time." said Ilere.

"How much time?" asked Haraku.

"Thirty seconds."

"Thirty seconds?!?"

"That seems impossible." said Greyfang.

"Not really. If you study before attempting to solve it the timer will not start and you will be able to grab the piece easily."

"What if we do run out of time doing the puzzle? Couldn't we just start over?" asked Haraku.

"I'm afraid not. If you run out of time the puzzle will stay locked for one hundred years."

"Then it's time to put our brains to work." said Greyfang, studying at the puzzle wall.

"Haraku!" shouted Miet, wandering into a village near the cemetery "Greyfang where are you?"

Miet, looked all around, asking a few of the townsfolk if they saw his friends. Unfortunately they all gave him the same answer. No one has seen them.

"Psst."

"Huh?"

Miet looked around the corner of a nearby alleyway. He saw a misshapen Kacheek with a large red eye standing before him.

"You are looking for something, aren't you?" asked the Kacheek.

"Yes. I'm trying to find my friends. We are looking for pieces of the Shadow Amulet." whispered Miet.

"What if I told you I knew exactly where it was?"

"You know where the piece of the Shadow Amulet is?"

"Oh yes, I do. And I can lead you straight to it."

Miet scratched his chin, unsure whether to trust the Kacheek or not. But he wanted to find his friends and this was the only lead he had.

"Alright. Lead me to my friends."

"Good, good. Follow me."

Deep within the catacombs, Greyfang and Haraku paced, trying to figure the wall puzzle in their heads. Every time they thought they figured it out they kept running into more problems.

"Greyfang? Haraku?"

Greyfang and Haraku turned around to see Miet standing near the entrance.

"Miet." they both cheered in unison.

"Where are the others?" asked Greyfang.

"They are with Sophie." answered Miet "I'm sure glad I found you guys. Especially you Haraku."

"Uh... thanks." said Haraku, awkwardly.

"There's no time for greetings, you must figure out this puzzle." Ilere interrupted.

The three looked closely at the wall puzzle, examining each crease and crevice.

"I believe I know what to do." Miet spoke up.

"Give it a go then." said Greyfang.

Miet stepped up to the wall and began moving the pieces until it formed a picture of the Shadow Amulet. Behind them the door opened, but the piece of the Shadow Amulet was not the only thing inside.

"Thade!" hissed Ilere.

"What's wrong? Looking for this?" laughed Eliv Thade, holding the amulet piece in his right hand.

"Hand it over!" commanded Haraku.

"I thought you were trying to help me!" said Miet.

"But I did help you. I helped you find your friends, you helped me get the amulet."

Eliv laughed wickedly as the tomb began to shake.

"Sounds like you have some company." said Thade, before disappearing into a portal.

"The amulet!" shouted Haraku.

"Forget the amulet! We need to escape!" said Greyfang.

"Go! I'll buy you all time!" said Miet.

"Miet, you can't take those bandits on your own." said Haraku.

"Maybe not, but I could at least distract them long enough for all of you to escape."

Miet ran out of the tomb, getting the attention of all the bandits. Haraku, Greyfang and Ilere escaped unnoticed, but Miet had been captured.

In Sophie's hut, Greyfang, Haraku and Ilere burst through the door.

"Greyfang? Where is Miet? Did he find you?" asked Anshu.

"He did, but we need to get out of here quickly." answered Greyfang "Sophie, you are a witch, is there some kind of spell you can conjure to get us all out of here?"

Sophie got on her feet and walked to her cauldron. She began to swiftly put together a spell of teleportation.

"This should do." said Sophie, scooping the spell up in a flask "Drink this and you all will be teleported far away from here."

"Will we all be teleported to the same area?" asked Anshu.

"There's no time to ask questions. Just take the flask and drink up." ordered Kanrik.

Everyone, besides Sophie, drank the from the flask. The each disappeared one by one in front of Sophie's eyes. The door burst once again. The Bandit Leader and his bandits stumbled through the doorway.

"Where are they?" growled the Bandit Leader.

"Where is who?" asked Sophie, feigning ignorance.

"Don't pretend like you don't know witch!"

"I haven't the foggiest idea whom you speak and I be grateful if you left my cabin in one piece."

The bandits turned all they could over, searching for adventurers, but they found nothing. Angered, they left empty handed. Eliv Thade, with a devilish grin, awaited the bandits on their ship. He was about to make them offer they couldn't refuse.
