"Come on, Robin, let's get some rest," Lucina murmured in his ear from where she stood behind his chair. Leaning over, she draped her arms around his shoulders, tapping a single digit against his chest.
"Few more minutes, still need to work out the logistics for tomorrow's march," Robin answered without looking up. His eyes continued to scan over the long list of troop allocations, supply inventory, and other resource allocations from the army's various branches.
"I understand that it must be important, but can it not wait until tomorrow morning? You have been at this for hours and loath as I am sure you are to admit it, you need sleep just like the rest of us," Lucina argued. She paused, then a bit more stiltedly added "Besides… I must admit I'd like this chase for the two of us to have time to… ourselves. We've all been so busy lately, so I thought…" She trailed off. Robin did not even need to look at her to know she was blushing.
"I…" He started to argue, then stopped himself. Dammit all, that did sound like a good idea. He chewed on his lower lip, torn by the desire to do as his wife had suggested and his duty to the Shepherds. Heh, I guess Lucina's not alone in feeling torn between the two. Sighing, Robin set his quill aside, half turning in his chair so he could look up at Lucina. "Alright, you win. Shall we?" He asked, planting a quick kiss on her lips.
Lucina's cheeks darkened for a moment, and she withdrew her arms, allowing him to stand. Pulling off his coat, Robin draped his over the back of the chair. "Wind," he whispered, sending a tiny gust from the tips of his fingers to blow all but one of the candles that sat on his desk.
Finishing out his rolled-up blanket from under his cott, he dropped it over the thing mattress, kicking his boots off before climbing in. Lifting up the cover, he waited for Lucina to join him, the princess slipping in next to him.
Her azure hair brushed against his shoulder as she settled him, the sensation sending tingles down his arm. Wrapped an arm over his chest, she pulled herself closer, humming contently as she made herself comfortable.
"This is nice, you know. The two of us like this, I mean," Robin observed.
"Yes. I will admit, it was rather terrifying the first time. The thought of something even as simple as sharing a bed had me nervous for days before we… well, tried." Lucina giggled as she finished, the sound of sweet music to Robin's ears.
"Yeah, was much the same for me," Robin agreed, smiling deeply. "We really did act like dorks for a while didn't we?"
"You act as though we've stopped," Lucina noted, a wry smile on her lips.
"I think we can give ourselves some benefit of the doubt, don't you think?"
"Do you?"
Robin pondered that for a moment, then gave a defeated sigh. "No. Can't say I can. We are still complete dorks, aren't we?"
"Perhaps. But either way, it is, I wouldn't change us." She kissed him ever so sweetly. "Besides, while I cannot speak in regards to myself, I find it rather cute." She laughed, the infectious sound bringing a big stupid grin to Robin's lips.
"I suppose that's true," Robin said, joining in with a laugh of his own. Wrapping his arms around her he pulled her tight. "Come on, let's get some rest. There's a lot to do tomorrow."
"Indeed," Lucina agreed. She yawned, her eyelids already beginning to droop. "Goodnight, Robin."
"Good night, Lucina," Robin murmured. Nuzzled close Robin closed his eyes, his wife's presence a comforting warmth. It was easy to feel safe with her in his arms and before long he'd fallen fast asleep.
