Title: Robcina Week Day 5 - Morning Activities

Description: For once, Lucina would have loved to sleep in, Or at least have one peaceful morning. However, with two rambunctious children to deal with, even normal morning activities become difficult trials.

Lucina murmured contently, her eyelids fluttering as she drifted in and out of the gentle embrace of sleep. She basked in the warmth of the morning sun that had just begun to creep in through the open curtains. A cool spring breeze drifted in through the same open window as the golden rays of light, carrying with it the smell of blooming flowers and a morning's dew. Birds chirped and the new leaves rustled in the wind. Everything was perfect, another peaceful morning with her husband at her side.

She rolled over, nuzzling closer to Robin as he sleep. Her husband unconsciously slipped an arm around her. Soon enough they'd need to awaken, but for the time there was no harm in sleeping in just a little bit-"

"Wake up, wake up, wake up!"

The shrill cries of laughter snapped Lucina wide awake, feeling as though a bucket of icy water had been dumped upon her If the shouts hadn't awakened her, then the shaking and rattling of the bed certainly would have. Bouncing her up and down like a storm-tossed sea, Lucina scrambled upright as she was nearly thrown free from the bed.

"Morgan! Marc! Stop it this instant!" she managed, grabbing for the two rambunctious twins.

The two children shrieked and scrambled off of the bed, fleeing out into the hallway.

Groaning, Lucina dragged her hands over her face, blinking away the sleep in her eyes. Robin had likewise sat upright, looking just as groggy as she felt. "Remind me, is it your turn or mine to deal with them?" he asked.

"Your's. I chased after them yesterday," Lucina answered. She yawned, happy at least to be able to sit there for just a bit longer.

"Right… off I go," Robin said, groaning as he heaved himself out of bed and made after their children lest they find themselves getting into more trouble without supervision.

What both she and Robin would give for just one day of sleeping in. Just one… If only, Lucina thought.

Taking a few more moments to wake up, Lucina got out of bed as well and made her way downstairs to the kitchen. She set about busying herself with liting their woodburning stove, taking several moments fumbling with the flint and tinder. She wished she were better at magic, as Robin could lite the thing with a snap of his fingers. Literally. But with him off chasing the twins, she'd need to manage the old-fashioned way.

There was a crash from somewhere near the other end of their home, its source she could only guess being some piece of furniture becoming a casualty in the twins' antics.

Still too tired to pay it much mind, Lucina put a kettle for tea on the stove before starting on fixing up a pot of porridge for breakfast. She was only halfway through cooking when Robin entered the kitchen behind her. His bedclothes were scuffed and dirty, but otherwise, he'd returned unharmed, carrying, one under each arm, the two squirming children.

"Huzzah," he said wearily, managing a dry smile as he sat both Morgan and Marc down at the table. He busied himself mostly with keeping the two from running off while Lucina finished preparing breakfast, only taking a seat as she set out bowels for each of them and cups of tea for the two of them. The last thing they needed, of course, was to give two hyperactive children anything close to a stimulant like the beverage.

Once breakfast was done, it was Lucina's turn to take the twins while Robin tidied up. Returning them to their bedroom, she set about getting them dressed, a task that was easier said than done given how the two seemed to fight her at every step along the way. But eventually, she had it done, both of the children properly dressed and presentable. Only then did she release the two, both Morgan and Marc at once running out of the room to play elsewhere in the house.

Returning to her and Robin's room, Lucina got dressed, changing from her bedclothes to a simple blue dress. Standing in front of the mirror, she combed her hair free of any tangles before tying it back with a leather band set with a single silver flower clasp.

She passed Robin on her way back downstairs, pausing to give him a kiss on the cheek before leaving him to get dressed as well. She busied herself righting the chairs the twins had already knocked over in their playing until Robin returned, wearing a clean tunic and trousers, his coat drapped over one arm.

"Well, I'm off into town," he announced, his voice full of resigned weariness.

Lucina arched an eyebrow at him. "Why is that?"

"Well, somehow all my ink was spilled across my desk. So I need to replace that, and the parchment that was ruined," he answered. A glance at their children confirmed just who was responsible.

"I see," Lucina said. She leaned toward them, placing a hand on his arm before giving him a kiss. Smiling as she pulled back, she was happy to see her husband appeared a bit less grumpy now, the kiss having had its intended effect.

"I'll be in the garden while you're away. Do not worry about Morgan and Marc, I can manage to keep an eye on them for a while," she assured him.

"Thanks," Robin said. He gave her another quick kiss, this time on her cheek.

Just at that moment, there was a booming thud behind her, the two wincing at the sound. Turning they found both Morgan and Marc thankfully unharmed but standing over a collapsed bookshelf. How they'd managed to topple the heavy furniture piece without harming themselves was anyone's guess. At least the two children looked guilty at their actions, or perhaps merely were fearing the scolding that would certainly come.

"Do you want me to…" Robin started, wincing as he saw the extent of the mess.

Lucina smiled, shaking her head. "Don't worry, I can manage," she assured him. However, she sighed inwardly. It was still early in the morning and yet it felt like a full day's worth of trials had already been passed.

It seems a morning's work is never done.
