"Wait, what're you—"
"Smash!"
Izuku executed a swift kick by pivoting his body which propelled the man a considerable distance away. Subsequently, another individual emerged from around a corner, having witnessed his companion's airborne trajectory, and promptly aimed his firearm in Ruby's direction. However, Ruby had astutely anticipated this turn of events. With remarkable agility, she leaped into the air, enveloped in a mesmerizing vortex of spinning rose petals, and propelled herself toward the approaching man. Together, they forcefully shattered the glass barrier and descended outside the premises of the store.
Ruby extended Crescent Rose to full size and effortlessly dispatched her adversaries. Demonstrating not only a remarkable command over her formidable weapon but also an uncanny swiftness, incapacitating them swiftly, albeit curiously, without causing any fatal harm. Izuku lashed out a few kicks from one thug to another, knocking them out at the point of contact. Consequently, the defeated individuals were left writhing in evident agony upon the unforgiving asphalt.
"You were worth every cent, truly you were," came a sarcastic voice.
Emerging from the shop was a man, dressed immaculately in a white suit, complemented by a black bowler hat and a cane. His ginger locks subtly peeked out from underneath his hat, while a lit cigar gracefully rested in his mouth. As he confidently walked, he inadvertently kicked a henchman, prompting a subdued groan.
"Well, Red." He turned his gaze towards Izuku. "And Green, I must say it is an honor to be graced by your illustrations."
He continued towards the pair, dropping the cigar and crushing it with the end of his cane. His left hand fell into his coat, pulling out a dust crystal which he ignited with his aura.
"This has been quite the eventful evening, truly it has. But as much as I'd love to stick around, I'm afraid this is where we part ways."
A flick of his wrist sent the crystal bouncing towards the Izuku. At the same time, he fired his cane towards Ruby, a flare of red dust energy rocketing towards her. Using her scythe, she vaulted over the missile before it could hit her.
Two explosions rang out through the streets as the crook made his escape. Disoriented but hardly injured thanks to his Danger Sense, Izuku quickly scanned his surroundings for the attacker and spotted him scrambling up a fire access ladder. He took off in pursuit, focusing his power on his legs and leaping for the roof.
"Mind if I go after them?" Ruby asked the aged shopkeeper as he came out of hiding from his ruined shop.
He nodded shakily.
With a smirk, she planted the head of her scythe into the ground and by pulling a hidden trigger, fired a powerful round, using the recoil to launch herself up to the edge of the building. The young pair landed at the same time, confronting the white-clad thief.
"Hey!" She yelled out, causing the thief to pause.
"It's over! There's nowhere else for you to run!" Izuku shouted.
"Persistent..." he muttered under his breath.
Declining to pivot and confront them, a few anxious moments elapsed. His patience was rewarded when the clamor of a bullhead transport emanated from a neighboring thoroughfare. Luminous spotlights beamed down upon the two adolescents, momentarily dazzling them as the gentleman in the white attire hastily embarked into the cabin. The luminosity subsided, granting them a momentary respite.
"End of the line, kids!" He announced as he threw a red dust crystal at her feet. Recognition lit up in Ruby's eyes.
"Ruby!" Izuku yelled, pushing himself and Ruby to the side as a red bolt erupted from the thief's cane.
The pair's ears were assaulted by the explosion reverberating through the atmosphere on impact. Izuku and Ruby blinked. The attack hadn't come and neither of them was covered in burns.
They turned their gazes in time to see another individual standing between them and the crystal, summoning a violet glyph that provided a protective shield from the explosive impact. This person was a woman, appearing to be in her late thirties, with meticulously braided golden hair and a pair of spectacles perched upon her nose. She was dressed in a white long-sleeved blouse, neatly tucked into a high-waisted black skirt. A tattered purple cape billowed behind her, adding an air of mystery to her presence. Completing her ensemble were black stockings and elegant heels.
Adjusting her glasses, she swung her arm in a wide arc with her wand in hand, unleashing a barrage of violet energy bolts toward the bullhead. Although the armored hull sustained only minor damage in the form of sizable dents. This however did not deter her from actively participating in the battle.
Ruby swiftly transformed her scythe into a high-velocity sniper rifle. Izuku joined in by flicking his fingers, firing off air-force smashes at the aircraft's side. The thunderous cracks that followed each shot reverberated through the air. Seizing the opportunity, the thief stumbled his way towards the cockpit, as his getaway bird struggled under the relentless combined assault.
"We got a huntress!" The thief yelled at his pilot, who promptly rose from the pilot's chair and headed to the cabin.
The woman threw out her wand again to send a bolt over the plane. Summoning a black storm cloud that appeared over it, raining down large ice crystals over the vessels, further damaging it. The trio could scarcely make out a woman inside the ship as she stood just behind the open doorway.
They couldn't see her face but they saw her red skirt, long legs, and black heels. She then thrust her palm forward to send a stream of fire the blonde woman's way, who conjured another shield to protect herself. The ground suddenly lit up and was about to explode, but Izuku quickly ran to carry her out of the way just before a column of flames arose from where she was standing.
"Are you okay?" Izuku asked as he put her down.
"Yes." The woman answered simply before resuming her attack.
She held out her wand to catch the fragments of the rooftop that exploded. Spun the wand around to reform the fragments into a large javelin, which she shot at the craft; but the red-clad mystery woman inside thrusted her palms forward again to send scores of flames to break apart the javelin. The blonde woman however quickly reformed her javelin again and shot it at the vessel, but it was angled so that it slid off the top and missed, but she was able to break the fragments apart again and form multiple chain-like constructs which spun around the vehicle to try and trap it.
But the barrier was broken apart as a wave of fire and heat shot out from around the transport, incinerating the fragments. Ruby chose to assist by converting her massive scythe into a medium-length rifle and began firing at the vessel. But the woman inside seemed to block it with an invisible barrier.
Izuku glanced up at the vessel's roof. An idea popped into his head. With the bad guys distracted, he used his speed to leap on the rooftop behind the transport. He then leaped and delivered two Air Force bullets at the right wing of the transport, dislodging part of it and causing the transport to careen out of control.
Izuku clamped his fist, anchored his arm back, and swung forward. Shooting a long thread of Black-Whip that found purchase somewhere inside the hatch. He propelled himself toward the open hatch to try and grab the villains inside, but then the mystery woman threw out both her arms to send a column of flame at him, forcing himself to detach his fist from his thread.
Izuku blew the flames around him by folding his arms in an x before spreading them in a snap. Swiping them away so he wouldn't get charred, and causing wind pressure to whip wildly in the air. Unfortunately, he lost his momentum and fell back on the rooftop where Ruby and the blonde woman were both standing. Watching the transport crash landed and skidded to a halt on the street below.
"I'll go get them before they make a run for it!" Declared Izuku before running off the rooftop to inspect the crash. The woman stared at his incredible feat of speed, she heard a slight squeal from the younger girl next to her.
"You're a Huntress?! Can I have your autograph?!" She exclaimed with a wide grin and sparkling silver eyes.
Before she could make a response, Izuku appeared back on the rooftop.
"Okay, the damage is only on the street, and no bystanders were hurt."
"That's a relief." Ruby smiled as the woman gave a small nod.
"But… the villains got away," Izuku revealed, glancing down at the rooftop floor.
"Aw, what?" Ruby complained, throwing her arms out.
Izuku lifted his head straight and blinked. The woman's eyes narrowed at both him and Ruby. He glanced at Ruby worryingly.
"Um, Ruby. I think we're—"
Izuku and Ruby frowned at the floor as they sat on their respective chairs in the interrogation room. The woman paced back and forth before the pair, whilst examining Izuku's hero license in hand and holding her pad with the other. The pair found themselves in an interview room at the local police station. The last time Izuku ever found himself in a situation like this, was the time Shigaraki had him as hostage for questioning.
He never thought he'd find himself back here again.
"I hope you two realize that your actions tonight will not be taken lightly. The both of you put yourselves and others in grave danger," the blonde woman scolded.
"They started it!" Ruby protested.
"I have no excuse." Admitted Izuku while rubbing the back of his head. "My body moved before I had a chance to think, plus the ship crashing was my fault."
Glynda gave a small sigh as she looked in Izuku's direction.
"Well, at least you're willing to accept responsibility." Glynda then turned to the girl. "As for you, we did get the testament from the owner of that Dust shop and you two helped to prevent a robbery."
Glynda shifted her stern gaze towards Izuku, causing him to feel tense. She raised her hand with Izuku's hero license on display.
"What is this?" She asked sternly.
"Umm, my hero license," Izuku replied with a nervous smile.
"Hero license?" She repeated with an arched brow before transforming into a glare. "Young man, are you trying to tell me that not only did you make a fake license but you're going against the law by committing vigilantism?"
"N-No! It's not fake. I promise!" Izuku insisted.
Ruby chimed. "He's telling the truth."
Glynda stared at the two incredulously for a moment, before turning her attention onto the scroll in her other hand. She proceeded pacing around the room.
"If it were up to me, you would be sent home," she stated. "With a pat on the back..."
Ruby perked up.
"... and a slap on the wrist."
To prove her point, the woman slightly smacked Ruby's hand with the crop, earning a yelp from the terrified girl.
"And as for you, young man." She shifted her gaze towards Izuku. "You will be put behind bars."
Izuku gulped.
The woman's face softened before sighing.
"However that doesn't seem to be the case. Someone here would like to speak to the both of you."
Ruby and Izuku glanced at each other in bewilderment.
She positioned herself to the side as an elderly gentleman made his entrance into the room. He, much like his companion, donned spectacles. His crown was adorned with silver, slightly disheveled hair, and his neck was embraced by an emerald scarf. Draped across his figure was a lengthy, black overcoat, embellished with gold buttons, its long sleeves extending to his hands, which were adorned with white gloves. Ruby promptly recognized this gentleman: Professor Ozpin, the esteemed Headmaster of Beacon Academy, and he was carrying a plate of cookies.
"Ruby Rose," he addressed the girl first, then turned his gaze towards Izuku. "And Midoriya Izuku. That is indeed your name, is it not?"
Ruby and Izuku sat up in rapt attention.
"You... have silver eyes," he spoke as if deciphering a puzzle. Ruby stared at him bewilderingly.
"So! Where did you learn to do this?" He asked Ruby as he pointed towards the woman's scroll, showing a recording of the street fight.
"S-Signal Academy?" She hesitantly answered.
"They taught you how to wield one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed?"
"Well, one teacher in particular!"
"I see," he acknowledged. At that point, he set the plate down in front of her.
Ruby's gaze darted back and forth, torn between Ozpin and the delectable cookies. With utmost delicacy, a pale hand extended towards the tempting treats, gingerly selecting one. She savored it, relishing each bite, her countenance gradually brightening. In a remarkably short period, she voraciously devoured cookie after cookie, leaving not a single crumb untouched. She pushed the plate toward Izuku, allowing him to eat the five last cookies.
"It's just, I only know of one person who can wield the scythe with such ease..." continued Ozpin. "...a dusty old crow."
Ruby mumbled an affirmation through a mouthful of cookies. Ozpin stared blankly at Ruby. She swallowed and giggled nervously.
"Sorry, that's my Uncle Qrow. He's a teacher at Signal. I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing, but now I'm all like, whooowaah watttchaaa!" Ruby described animatedly, complete with hand gestures.
"So I've noticed," replied Ozpin with a slight smile. "And what is an adorable little girl such as yourself doing at a school designed to train warriors?"
"Well... I want to be a Huntress."
"You want to slay monsters?"
"Yeah! I only have two more years at Signal and then I want to apply to Beacon. You see, my sister is starting there this year and she's trying to become a Huntress. I'm trying to become a Huntress because I wanna help people!" She rambled on. "Our parents always taught us to help people and I thought 'Oh might as well make a career out of it' Hehe, and sure the police are good and all but Hunters and Huntresses are just so much more cool and romantic and exciting and gosh you know?" She squealed.
There was an awkward silence.
The woman fixed Ruby with a deadpan expression.
Ozpin directed his attention towards Izuku and smiled with a nod. Izuku spiritually felt a hand placed on his shoulder and had to resist the urge to glance up at who it was. From the corner of his eye, Kudo leaned his head down while solely focusing his gaze on the man across the table.
"Keep your guard up, kid," Kudo warned Izuku, narrowing his eyes at Ozpin. "I don't trust this guy."
"I couldn't agree more," Said Bruce, nodding his head in empathy and agreement. "I've seen many smiles in my lifetime that were genuine, and that smile... just seems so fake."
"Oh stop it you two," Nana said, placing one hand on her hip. "You're being paranoid."
Daigoro chimed in. "Yeah, the guy hasn't even done anything, yet."
"Hello," Ozpin greeted, extending his hand.
"Oh! Um, hello," Izuku returned, accepting his hand and shaking it. "It's nice to meet you Mr…um."
"Ozpin. My name is Professor Ozpin." Ozpin introduced himself.
"Oh, well it's nice to meet you, professor."
"Likewise."
Ozpin took a sip from his mug.
"I must say Mr. Midoriya, you are quite an enigma," confessed Ozpin, leaning forward with his arms on the table. Ruby tilted her head in bewilderment.
"An enigma?" Ruby repeated, a bit puzzled.
"Indeed, Ms. Rose." Ozpin nodded before shifting his gaze back to Izuku. "What you're donning is practical, overly so I may add. I've seen many clothes from all four kingdoms with styles that fit a person's character and culture, but what you are wearing doesn't match a single one of them. Which is evident since I do not recognize the attire you don."
Ozpin reached out a hand, gesturing to Izuku's costume.
"A simple one-piece suit, with reinforced steel boots and gloves, and protection for the knees," he continued. "This alone suggests a combat style based on physical strikes and parries, with an emphasis on utilizing the lower body. I've only seen such advanced attire for Atlas soldiers."
Izuku cleared his throat.
"It's a Hero costume, Professor," Izuku said. "It's designed for Hero work."
"Hero work…" mused Ozpin, intrigued. "I have not heard of such a thing. You describe it as if it were a profession."
"Well...it's a profession where I'm from, Professor. A proud and honorable profession."
Ozpin nodded, in what might have been approval.
"I see," acknowledged Ozpin. "Tell me, are you from Atlas? Your physical appearance would suggest it, and your style of combat is worth noting."
"No, I'm not from Atlas," Izuku replied.
Izuku looked up in time for Glynda to show footage of his fight against the bad guys in the Bullhead on her tablet. He shifted his gaze back to Ozpin when he continued.
"I've seen many Huntsmen and Huntresses with great talent and unique Semblances. But never have I seen a person wielding two Semblances; shooting air-bullets with the flick of a finger, and discharging an energy tendril from their fist. Such a thing like this has never been seen or recorded in Remnant's history.
Izuku hesitated. On one hand, he didn't want to lie, on the other hand, he feared telling them where he came from might complicate things. Sure Ruby believed his story of being someone from another world without question but who is to say these two wouldn't, and just deem him crazy?
What should he…
"Izuku's not from Remnant, professor," Ruby revealed, nervously rubbing her arm.
"R-Ruby!" Izuku turned his shocked gaze towards her.
Ozpin and the woman blinked in surprise.
"Not from Remnant?" Ozpin repeated, placing his mug down on the table. "What do you mean?"
"Professor…" Izuku glanced down at the floor. "I don't think I can tell you. It's a long story and even if I were to tell you, you might find it hard to believe."
"Nonsense," replied Ozpin, raising a hand. "I wouldn't know if I believed it or not unless you tell me. I'd be very interested in hearing your story. However, since it's getting late I believe it would be best if you could tell me tomorrow. Which brings me to my offer."
Izuku and Ruby glanced at each other before shifting their attention back to the man.
"You see, I'm the Headmaster at Beacon Academy, and I have an eye for talent. Therefore…" Ozpin, who had seated himself, leaned forward across the table, and directed a golden question to the pair. "Would you two like to come to my school?"
Izuku and Ruby's eyes blinked in surprise. That was something even Ruby had not anticipated; a direct invitation from the Headmaster of one of the most prestigious hunting academies in Remnant. Ruby appeared as though she had been bestowed a gift from Oum himself.
"More than anything in the world," Ruby breathed. Ozpin turned his gaze towards Izuku.
"As a student?" Izuku asked with a raised brow.
"No. Not as a student." Ozpin shook his head. "More of a guest in my kingdom and in a professional sense."
Izuku pondered the offer. If he had to be honest, he was not expecting this. He thought about some benefits to accepting this proposal. According to Ozpin, he would have a place to stay in Beacon which could be useful as a home-base for himself so he had a place to think and plan his next move.
Another benefit was that this man was the school's headmaster. Which means he knows this world's history and the way things work. After a few minutes he nodded his head.
"I would be honored." Responded Izuku.
Ozpin gave a questioning gaze to his associate. She scoffed and looked away, rolling her eyes. With a broad smile on his face and looked back at the pair.
"Well okay."
LOCATION: Back in the world of Hero Academia.
Japan's peace and tranquility was plagued by war. The peaceful city was transformed into a hellish labyrinth where brave Heroes lost their lives in intense fights against Villains. The Villain's push against Heroes left most of Japan's apartments into ruin. Many lives were lost everyday from both sides of Hero and Villain alike.
But the plague had finally faded away.
The villainous All for One and his empire had finally been destroyed. The Heroes had won, victory had finally come to their side. However, it sadly came at a heavy cost. When the great battle between Deku and Shigaraki had finally ceased, All Might's successor was warped into a portal that was activated by a Villian's quirk. By the time anyone could even reach the boy, it was already too late.
The villain who had transported the poor boy away was now taken into custody. While every remaining Hero that could still stand did their best to help as many people as they can, while the pro heroes and students of U.A. were resting. But like everyone else, they were all saddened by the shocking and sudden disappearance of Midoriya Izuku.
None more so than Eri.
Eri sat on her bed while holding her pillow close to her chest. She too was saddened because her hero, her guardian, had disappeared. Aizawa and Mirio had tried to explain it to her, then felt a pang of guilt, seeing how that news had once again erased the little girl's smile. The little girl had separated from the group, sitting on her bed with tears streaming down her cheeks.
Eri buried her face into her pillow. It wasn't fair, why did the people she loved have to be in danger or disappear? She wanted to see him again! He promised her that he'll come back; he gave her his word!
Eri pulled her countenance away from the pillow. She glanced up at the ceiling with more tears flowing down her cheeks.
"Deku…" Eri whispered, her tone distant yet filled with pain.
She refused to accept it but reality was harshly reminding her yet again. Her Hero was gone.
Silence was her only companion now.
A/N: And that was chapter 5 young readers! Not gonna lie, I was REALLY wanting to have Izuku be a member of Ruby's team but then decided to go with him becoming Vale's future number one hero and symbol of peace, just as he originally was supposed to be back in his home world. He'll have moments where he'll team up with Team RWBY in some situations but he'll be teaming up with someone else that I have plans for. With all of that said, I'll be taking my leave. If there are any miss-spellings or errors, inform me in the comments immediately.
See you young readers in the next chapter!
