Izuku blinked in surprise as he stared at Ruby's tall sibling. She had her arms wrapped around Ruby in a tight hug. She wore a tan vest with gold piping over a yellow low-cut crop top with a black crest that resembled a burning heart. The vest has puffy cap sleeves with black cuffs. On the sides of the cuffs, there are two small golden buttons.
She wears a brown belt with a buckle, a pouch, and a small banner-like object. The same burning heart crest appears on this banner, except golden in color. She wears black shorts under her belt, which resemble a pleated skirt in the back. Over the short shorts but under the belt is a white asymmetrical back skirt.
Aside from an orange infinity scarf around her neck, she had no discernible jewelry. She wears brown knee-high platform boots that appear to be made of leather, with orange socks of different lengths. Her left leg also has a gray bandanna-like object wrapped around the top of her boot. She wears fingerless black gloves underneath her weapons, which resemble two yellow mechanized gauntlets with a black design. Long, messy gold locks cascaded down her back and past her waist.
When Ruby had told Izuku about her older sister, he honestly didn't expect much. But seeing her right now, Izuku was trying to figure out how she and Ruby were related. Neither of the two looked anything alike.
"Oh I can't believe my baby sister is going to Beacon with me, this is the best day ever!" Yang gushed, a big smile gracing her lips.
"Please stop..." Ruby strained to say under the pressure of her older sister's bone-crushing hug.
"But I'm so proud of you!" Gushed on Yang Xiao Long, a blonde-haired girl of seventeen. To see her little sister aboard an airship bound for Beacon with her was the most amazing thing she could think of.
"Really sis... it was nothing."
"What do you mean? It was incredible! Everyone at Beacon is going to think you're the bee's knees!" Yang gestures to the individuals around them.
"I don't want to be the 'bee's knees' ok?! I don't want to be any kind of knees! I just want to be a normal girl with normal knees." Stressed Ruby, glancing at the floor with a frown.
Yang parted her lips to question her baby sister until she glanced at Izuku. Transforming her teasing smirk into a curious expression.
"Hm? Who is this young man Rubes?" Yang asked, looking at Izuku curiously.
Ruby yelped in embarrassment, pink dusting her cheeks.
"Oh! Right!" Ruby stepped up to Izuku and stood by his side. Gesturing her hand towards him. "Yang, this is my new friend I met at the hospital two days ago!"
Yang, while quite protective of her sister, also couldn't resist pressing a few buttons especially when boys were involved. She was too introverted around people her age anyway so the fact that she was already acting this familiar with a brand new face warranted plenty of teasing.
"A new friend huh? Then I guess you don't mind if I... observe for myself?" She spoke lowly with a purr, strutting with obvious sway. "I'm afraid my sister forgot her manners. I'm Yang Xiao Long, and you are..."
Heat rose from Izuku's nape to his cheeks.
"H-Hello! M-My name is M-Midoriya Izuku," he timidly stuttered, turning beet red as he tried to hang on to his composure. She was taller than he was, putting his eyes almost at direct level with her well-endowed and accented chest.
"Well, nice to meet you Izuku," Yang said, extending her hand.
"Same here." His gloved hand reached for hers and grasped it. Giving it a good shake before pulling away.
Izuku turned his attention to the holo screen. A news report of last night's robbery was playing, and now Izuku had a name to go with the face of the thief he and Ruby fought; Roman Torchwick. Thankfully, there was no mention of the two of them or their involvement, probably Ozpin's doing. The reporter then swapped to an update on an incident with the White Fang, a Faunus Rights movement that had suddenly turned violent the previous year but was interrupted by a recording of Glynda Goodwitch.
Izuku listened for a few moments but tuned it out when he realized it was just a stock greeting for new students. Instead, he turned his attention out of the port windows. He gazed in awe as the ship turned about to give its passengers a full view of Beacon Academy.
A cluster of glorious and intricate spires made up the heart of the grounds, flanked and surrounded by numerous smaller buildings. Leading up to it was a grand plaza of gardens, statues, and fountains all arranged in patterns to accent each feature. Two rivers, one on each flank, met in the middle of this plaza. Connecting that to the landing platform was a long causeway decorated with ivory arches and wrought-iron street lamps.
The platform itself was fairly standard and situated on the edge of the sheer cliff face. An additional stairway and elevator system wound its way down the cliff face to a small dock. He barely notices Ruby and Yang join him at the window.
"Look! You can see Signal from up here!" She grew calmer. "I guess home isn't too far off after all."
"Beacon's our home now," Yang assured her, putting an arm around her little sister.
Their reverie was interrupted though when another passenger, a teenage boy, was struggling to hold his lunch. He had shaggy blonde hair, and blue eyes, and was wearing some combat armor. Izuku pressed himself as close to the window as possible to give the boy a wide berth as he stumbled by, swaying dangerously close to Ruby and Yang.
"I guess the view isn't for everyone," Izuku commented.
Yang nodded in agreement. "Yup."
"It was nice while it lasted," replied Ruby.
Yang redirected her gaze back at Beacon.
"I wonder who we're going to meet?" Asked Yang.
"I just hope they're better than vomit boy..." Said Ruby.
Izuku chuckled. "Well, I'm sure that—"
A smell drifted up first into Izuku's nose, then to the two girls. Ruby was the first to notice what it was.
"Oh Yang, gross! You got some puke on your shoe!"
"Grossgrossgrossgrossgrossgrossgrossgrossgrossgross!"
"Ewww, get away from me, get away from me!"
Izuku sighed.
Thankfully the rest of the trip wasn't for very long. The vessel steadily came alongside the connecting bridge and with a hiss, the doors slid open. "Vomit Boy", as Ruby referred to him earlier, was the first one off as he scampered to the nearest trash bin. The trio shuddered as they listened to him empty his stomach. Yang, to her credit, was able to wash off her shoes in the restroom in the ship's cabin so at least the stench of puke wasn't going to follow them around all day. All that was forgotten as they stepped out into the fresh air.
"Whoooaaaa!" The trio breathed as they drank in the sight of the Academy proper.
"Incredible," breathed Izuku.
"The view from Vale's got nothing on this," Yang stated approvingly. It was then Ruby's turn to squeal.
"Ohmigosh sis! That kid's got a collapsible staff!" She clung to Yang's arm like an over-excited puppy. "OHHHH, and she's got a fire sword!"
Ruby was getting ahead of herself and was already on her way prancing. With a shake of her head, Yang yanked her back by her hood.
"Ow owww," she whined.
"Easy there little sis, they're just weapons."
"Just weapons? They're an extension of ourselves; a part of us! Oh, they're so cool..."
"Why can't you just swoon over your own weapon? Aren't you happy with it?" Questioned Yang.
To make her point, Ruby extended her scythe from its portable form to its full size.
"Of course I'm happy with Crescent Rose. I just really like seeing new ones. It's like meeting new people," she started deflating. "But better..."
"Ruby, come on. While you're here you can try making some new friends of your own," Yang said, pulling Ruby's hood over her head.
Ruby pulls her hood back.
"But why would I need friends when I have you and Izuku?"
"Welllll..." Yang started slowly as she was suddenly surrounded by people. "Actuallymyfriendsarehererightnow, gottagocatchup, seeyalaterbye!"
She sprinted past with her mob, leaving Ruby spinning in place like a clumsy top.
"Wait! Where are you going? Aren't we supposed to be going to our dorms? Where are the dorms? Do we even have dorms? I don't know what I'm doing..." she groaned, dizzy and stumbling.
She stepped backward until she felt a hand gently placed on her back, stopping her from falling. Ruby blinked. She looked up and met the eyes of a tall young man.
He had long black hair that ended midway down his back. A magenta streaked on the left side of his hair. His eyes match the streak in his hair. He donned a dark green, diagonally-buttoned, long-sleeved tailcoat that was red on the inside, with black and gold trimming and pink cuffs. The trimming goes down the right side of his torso and forms a black collar. Along with this, he wears a black, long-sleeved shirt beneath the suit and light tan pants with black shoes. He ties his hair back in a low ponytail.
The young man simply waved at Ruby.
"Hello there," the young man greeted. Ruby retreated away whilst turning around to face him.
"Oh my gosh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bump into you." Ruby gushed, glancing at the ground in embarrassment.
"It's alright. You don't need to apologize; accidents happen." The young man waved his hand dismissively.
"Oooou."
Izuku pivoted on his heels and was taken aback, his breath catching in his throat, as he felt something soft enveloping his cheeks. The possessor of these tender hands was a young lady of fair complexion, her hair a vibrant shade of orange and her eyes a mesmerizing turquoise. Adorned in a collared black sleeveless vest, its central front section adorned with a striking blue hue and accents of fiery red, she proudly displayed her emblem on the back of her vest.
Beneath her vest, she adorns herself with a white sleeveless t-shirt, featuring a heart-shaped cutout positioned gracefully above her breast line. This charming centerpiece is accompanied by a pair of detached white sleeves, one for each arm, and complemented by a set of delicate light pink fingerless gloves. Her ensemble is completed by a stylish short pink skirt, adorned with a single layer of pristine white fabric underneath.
Her white ankle boots, boasting pink soles adorned with a portion of her emblem, the lightning bolt, are adorned with low heels and dainty pink laces. The tops of her boots are elegantly folded over, revealing a delightful pink lining. Additionally, she dons a silver armor piece that gracefully wraps around her waist, under her breasts, and around the back of her neck. Each section of this exquisite armor is connected by metal, creating a seamless and harmonious design at the front.
"OMG, you're so adorable!" She guessed, beaming at Izuku. Izuku's face flushed red at how close she was.
She's so close to me, Izuku thought.
Izuku yelped as the girl grabbed his hand, shaking it rapidly. The handshake was violent enough to lift Izuku's boots from the ground and bounce him about a bit. His stomach plummeted. This orange-haired girl was strong!
"Heyy, I'm Nora Valkyrie, but you can just call me Nora," the girl named Nora introduced herself, gesturing to the young man next to Ruby whilst proceeding with her rambling. "That's my friend! His name is Ren, and we've been friends for SOOOO long. Like, who would've thought we would still be together, you know? But not like, together-together. Not that I'm saying he's not handsome, he is handsome but that would just be weird, right?"
Izuku blinked with a blank expression. "I…I, um…"
"Right!" Nora continued. "But hey, back to you! I meant what I said that you are SOOOO adorable. Like, how do you not have a girlfriend yet? I mean there had to be some girl you've met that possibly had a crush on you, right? I mean look at those diamond freckles; how could anyone not gush over them? Oh! I just have a thought, If you're gonna become a huntsman then maybe we should end up in the same team together. It would be awesome! We'll get to hang out and go places. What's your favorite spot in Vale, hmm? We can go to the cafe, festivals, or maybe—"
"Nora." The young man named Ren interjected.
"Yes Ren?" Nora returned with a smile.
"I think we should get going." Said Ren, jabbing his thumb toward Beacon Tower.
"Oh! Right, right, right. Well, me and Ren gotta be going. Have a nice day!" Nora's smile widened while closing her eyes, adding a sparkle effect on one eye.
Ruby and Izuku watched as the pair walked away. Leaving them at the center of Beacon's school grounds. Izuku's shoulders slumped before letting out a sigh.
"I wonder what she put in her sippy cup today?" Asked Ruby.
"Who knows," Izuku replied.
"Hey uh..." came another voice, this time a male's. "Is it alright if I tag along with you two? I kinda don't know my way around either."
Ruby snickered.
"Aren't you the guy who threw up on the ship?" Asked Ruby with a giggle.
"What?" The blonde flinched.
"Sorry, but Vomit Boy was the first thing that came to mind," Ruby laughed nervously.
"Are you feeling better?" Izuku asked with genuine concern. The blonde waved his hand dismissively.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Heh, heh, I guess motion sickness is a bigger problem than most people let on." He replied.
Izuku stepped forward and extended his hand.
"I'm Midoirya Izuku, by the way." Said Izuku, his lips forming a friendly smile. The blonde puffed out his chest with pride, grasping Izuku's hand and shaking it.
"Jaune Arc! Short, sweet, rolls off the tongue, and the ladies love it." The young man named Jaune returned.
"Do they?" Ruby and Izuku snickered in perfect unison.
"They will! Or at least, I hope they will..."
Silence descended upon the trio as they walked.
"So, I have this thing." Said Ruby as she extended Crescent Rose to full size.
"WHOA! Is... that a scythe?" Jaune jumped back in fear.
"It's also a fully customizable high-impact sniper rifle," Ruby added.
"Wha...?" Jaune was confused.
Izuku chimed. "It's also a gun."
Ruby smirked, cocking back the bolt for effect.
"Oh! That's cool!"
"So how bout you?" Ruby asked, looking at Jaune curiously.
"Oh, well I got this sword!" He said, pulling it free from its sheath. "And a shield too."
He jerked the sheathe and it extended into a full kite shield.
"Ooooo, so what do they do?" She pressed.
At that moment, Jaune's shield "jumped" with a click, sending it bouncing around as he desperately juggled to get it back in his grip. Izuku raised a brow.
"Well... it gets smaller! So if I get tired of carrying it I can just... put it away," he explained, steadily deflating in the face of more awesome weapons.
"But doesn't it still... weigh the same...?" Asked Izuku.
"... yeah," Jaune replied awkwardly.
Ruby laughed nervously as she caressed Crescent Rose. "Well, I'm a bit of a dork when it comes to weapons. I probably went a bit overboard when I designed her."
"Huhh?! You designed it?" Jaune asked with incredulity.
"Yeah, all students at Signal forge their own weapons," Ruby said, pointing her finger at Jaune. "Didn't you make yours?"
Jaune shook his head as he looked at his sword. "No, it's a hand-me-down. My great-grandfather used it to fight in the war."
"A family heirloom then," added Izuku. "Nothing wrong with that, we all started somewhere."
Izuku glanced down at the ground with a sad smile.
I would know, Izuku thought.
"Yeah!" Ruby beamed. "Not many people appreciate the classics. I like it!"
"Yeah, you're right." Jaune had a small smile on his face as he sheathed the blade away.
Izuku blinked.
A sudden realization dawned on him.
"You know, I just realized something: where are we going?" Asked Izuku.
The trio paused.
"I don't know. We were following you," answered Jaune.
Silence reigned in the atmosphere once again.
"Does this place have a food court?" Added Jaune.
Izuku sighed.
A/N: And that was chapter 6, young readers! At first, I thought about making this chapter a bit longer but decided this would suffice. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have fun writing down Nora's rambling when she was talking to Izuku. I would've had her talking to him longer like she was with Ren during the third or fourth chapter but I discarded that idea. The next chapter will feature Izuku's stay in Beacon, getting a new exchange of clothes during his stay at Beacon, and probably either A; getting his hero suit fixed up, or B; upgrading said hero suit with the fabric material in the RWBY universe.
Now, I'm still debating whether or not I'd give Izuku the chance to have his aura unlocked. Especially since one of you said that aura in the RWBY universe is multiversal. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that. Because I've asked some folks who're more knowledgeable about the show than I am; some said it can be anything I want it to be, others said no, and others commented that nothing in RWBY is bigger than city block level. The thought of allowing Izuku the chance to unlock his aura is still in my head but at the same time, I'm still not sure. So until then I'm not gonna have him unlock it any time soon.
With all of that said, I'll be taking my leave. See you all in the next chapter!
