Now Tommy's friends were able to show up at Angelica's house to see him, Phil called first to let Angelica know they were on their way over.
"Angelica, you have a phone call," Charlotte told her.
"Who is it?" Angelica asked.
"Phil."
"I'll take it. I wonder what he wants."
"I have no idea. You'll have to find that out for yourself, Angelica."
"Hello?"
"Hi, Angelica. I just wanted to call and let you know we're on our way over."
"All right. See you then."
"Same with you, Angelica."
Once they hung up, Angelica told Charlotte Tommy's friends were on their way over.
"Thank you for saying something, Angelica. We'll be sure to look for them."
"I don't care what time they show up, Mommy."
"No, we don't, but they can come at any time they want."
"I know that," Angelica told her mother, "but I did say that they wouldn't be able to stay for very long."
"Angelica, that's not very nice to say to your friends."
"Too late. I've already said it, and I'm not changing my mind."
"You can stay in your room until they come over," Charlotte replied.
"Fine with me."
"I'll go tell Tommy they're on their way."
"Fine," Angelica repeated and headed upstairs.
Charlotte saw Tommy's room was still open, so that was a good sign.
"Tommy?"
"Yes?"
"Your friends called. They're on their way over."
"Thank you, Aunt Charlotte. What happened to Angelica?"
"She got sent to her room."
"Serves her right. You do that half the time, right?"
"Yes, Tommy. She should be nice since we introduced you and Angelica on the first day."
"What was she like when she was a baby?"
"You can hear about it another time, Tommy. Am going to town when your friends show up, so Drew should still be here."
"Thank you," Tommy told her.
"Want anything to eat or drink while I'm still up?"
"Water would be good, but I'm not hungry."
"That's all right. Maybe I should check in with your mother and father and see where we're going with this whole thing."
"I want to know that myself, Aunt Charlotte."
Charlotte disappeared to the kitchen. When she returned to Tommy's room, she said, "Here you go, Tommy. I'll check in on Angelica."
Tommy didn't say anything, but took the glass of water from Charlotte.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome, Tommy."
Then Charlotte left the bedroom, but Tommy liked having his door open here at the house, since it's company when somebody pops in to check on him.
Charlotte knocked on the bedroom door as Angelica answered it.
"Angelica, you can stay here until your friends show up. I just told Tommy I was going into town when your friends come over."
"What do you have to do there?" Angelica asked.
"Just to check on something at the office and then Didi and Stu's."
"Fine with me. How is Tommy?"
"He's doing all right. Just gave him something to drink was all."
"I'd hate to be in bed all day if I had a broken leg."
"You'd have a hard time moving around if it happened to you, Angelica."
Charlotte looked outside Angelica's bedroom window to see if anybody had parked in the driveway.
"What are you looking at, Mommy?"
"I don't see your friends yet, Angelica."
"Where is Daddy?"
"Taking a shower," she answered.
"I don't hear anything. Maybe he decided to take a nap instead."
"Angelica, we don't nap at this age, even though we could. It's just not our thing," Charlotte told her daughter.
"I know. I don't like them either."
"You were pretty bad about taking naps when you were younger, Angelica. You never too them back in those days."
"I remember."
Charlotte stayed in Angelica's bedroom for a bit longer until a car shows up to make sure somebody was still here when a friend of Tommy's comes in.
"I'll stay here for a bit longer, Angelica. I just want to make sure your friends make it safely."
"Fine with me," Angelica said once again.
That's when Chaz's car drove into the driveway.
Charlotte looked out the window and saw Chaz with Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Kimi, and Dil.
"Looks like your friends are here, Angelica."
"Want me to let them in?"
"Yes, you can. That's something you can do. I'll stay for a while longer to make sure your friends are okay."
"Of course they are. They're not my friends, Mommy."
"ANGELICA!"
She didn't care if her parents yelled at her like that or not.
Tommy heard Charlotte yell.
"I wonder what's going on," Tommy told himself as he got up from the bed.
At least he was able to do that on his own. He thought that he was feeling better once getting up from bed like that. Better than the couch, that's for sure.
Tommy walked upstairs to Angelica's room to see what was going on between mother and daughter.
"What's going on?" Tommy asked as the three of them heard the doorbell.
"How did you get here?" Charlotte asked him.
"I got out by myself."
"Tommy, you should go back to bed."
"I thought I heard a commotion here."
"You did," Angelica said as she stuck her tongue at her cousin.
"That's not very nice, Angelica."
"Yes, it is, Mommy."
Angelica disappeared from the bedroom and walked downstairs and opened the door like her mother told her to.
That was something Tommy could have done himself, Angelica said silently since he was out of bed.
"Tommy, let's get you back in bed," Charlotte said.
"I can't get out and stretch?"
"You can do that. I'm going to see your mother and father and talk about what else we can do for you."
"Are you going to tell them I got out of bed on my own?"
"Yes. They need to know that."
"I feel better now to walk around."
Charlotte didn't want to start an argument with Tommy like she already did with Angelica. That wasn't a good day for her.
"Do you need anything from home?"
"I think I'm okay, but thank you for asking."
"You're welcome. I'll let you know what we decide on and if they talked with the doctor since we traded places with you."
"Let me know what they say."
"You'll know, Tommy. Maybe your brother might say something."
"Who knows?"
"Drew is still here, so he's able to help you if you need anything."
"Okay."
They both heard Angelica open the front door for his friends to come in.
Charlotte and Tommy walked downstairs together as the door was opening.
Then his friends and brother noticed Tommy wasn't in bed like they thought that he would be when coming over, so that was a surprise. Talk with Tommy about it.
"We're here, Tommy," Kimi said.
"Glad you're able to show up."
"I'm on my way into town, Tommy. If you need anything, let one of us know."
"Thank you, Aunt Charlotte."
"I'll stop by and tell Drew I'm leaving and your friends are here."
Tommy didn't say anything as she helped him get on the couch.
Once Charlotte left, Chuckie asked, "What are you doing up? I thought you were in bed when we came over."
"I was, but then I heard Aunt Charlotte and Angelica have a fight upstairs."
"What kind of fight was it?" Dil asked.
"I don't know. I couldn't hear the whole conversation."
"Since you're up from bed, that means you feel a bit better than you did at home."
"Yes, Dil. Just bored staying on the couch and lying in bed the whole time. I need to get up every once in a while, you know. Am I missing anything at home?" Tommy asked his younger brother.
"No. it's just too quiet without you. Even Spike misses you."
"I miss him too, Dil. You could have brought Spike here with you."
"We thought about it, but decided not to since Angelica didn't like Spike very much."
"That's not hard to figure out," Chuckie replied.
"No," Tommy agreed.
"I have your homework for you, Tommy."
"Thank you, Chuckie. How much am I missing out on school?" Tommy asked.
"A lot of things. Even the other classmates miss you a bit," Lil said.
"That's good to know."
Angelica joined them.
"What are you talking about?"
"Nothing, Angelica. It doesn't involve you," Kimi told her.
"Whatever."
Even Angelica wasn't surprised to see Tommy isn't in his bedroom.
"You should have been at your house instead of here, Tommy. I wish you could have done that."
"Angelica, there's no choice. We were supposed to take turns having me over, remember?"
"Whatever," Angelica repeated.
