"I need to go somewhere, so do this fast." Spider-Man said, annoyed at Doctor Octopus' relentless hate for him. "It has taken years to do this, but finally, the end of you!" Doctor Octopus shouted. Spider-Man quickly ran to Doctor Octopus, who was in a robot designed to kill him. "You say that I will die almost every time we fight." Spider-Man angrily said to Doctor Octopus. "But this time I'm actually correct!" Doctor Octopus shouted angrily, trying to hit Spider-Man, with not a single hit actually touching him. "You say that every time too!" Spider-Man answered to Doctor Octopus, kicking him harder than he ever has before. The robot that Doctor Octopus was controlling quickly stopped moving and fell down. Spider-Man, who was about to be late to meet Mary Jane, quickly grabbed Doctor Octopus and swung to the police, who were waiting outside the building. "Good job." Someone said to Spider-Man. No one that works at the NYPD has ever said that to him before. Spider-Man was happy to finally find someone in the NYPD that didn't hate him. "Can you summon an army of Spiders?" The person asked. "No I can't, but I can do other things." Spider-Man answered. "What do you rate your powers at a scale of noice to toit?" The person asked. "Who are you?" Spider-Man asked back. "I'm detective Jake Peralta, and who are you?" The person answered happily. "I'm not answering that." Spider-Man said, swinging away.
At the precinct Jake works at, the 99th precinct, two detectives were arguing. "That's my pizza, it's not my fault yours didn't come." Detective Scully shouted at detective Hitchcock. "It's my pizza!" Hitchcock shouted at Scully, while trying to pull the pizza box from Scully's hands. "Shut up!" Lieutenant Terry Jeffords shouted at the detectives. "Terry! I have an idea." Amy, Jake's wife said, as she walked to Terry's desk. "For Jake's birthday, what if I got Spider-Man to come to his party?" Amy suggested. "That's a good idea, but how are you going to find him?" Terry asked. "The next time I see him, I'm going to track him, and ask him to come to Jake's party when he's not doing anything." Amy answered. "I thought you would just talk to him the next time something happens that involves the police." Terry suggested, trying to convince Amy not to do her plan. "Everyone talks to him when things like that happens. I need to talk to him privately, with no one else annoying him and making him rush his decision." Amy explained to Terry. The elevator doors opened, and Jake walked to his desk. "Don't tell him anything." Amy said to Terry, trying to keep the surprise a secret. "Peralta, do you have any leads on the case I have assigned you." Captain Holt asked. "In fact I do, Captain, there are three things I found out. Firstly, Spider-Man now has more arrests than me, I counted it, secondly, he's going to stop the arson before I do, like he always does, and lastly, he's pretty cool." Jake answered jokingly to his serious captain. "So you've found nothing?" Captain Holt asked, ignoring Jake's jealousy towards Spider-Man, or as J Jonah Jameson and Captain Holt call him, the Masked Menace. "What about you, Santiago?" Captain Holt asked Amy, who was whispering to Terry. "Nothing!" She shouted to her captain, who scared her from a whisper to a yell. "You have no leads?" Captain Holt asked, surprised that one of his best detectives has no idea who committed the murder he assigned to her.
