The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.
The Purpose, Rewritten, Chapter 23, ideas and conspiracy
July 20, 1945
Since Corban knew how to do his full Animagus form, every time he slept, the kneazle took over and Seth woke up with Corban, in kneazle form, on his back or curled up against him. Waking up naturally around three or four in the morning, depending on when he went to bed, Seth had to play ninja to get out of bed so as to not wake Corban.
It was fascinating that he couldn't discern an Animagus from a wizard as the Animagus form seemed to block any magical aura from the wizard. Only the presence in his mind of Corban who slept and the bond that united them could tell him that he was a wizard. Corban would be starting his new job that day, so he got up slowly and went to the bathroom to relieve himself before heading to his clothes closet.
He dressed in black pants, black shoes, and a blue tunic with white patterns. His silvery white hair slid down his shoulders and his ears stuck out between two strands of hair. Satisfied with his appearance, he left the room, closing the door quietly behind him. In the next room, he could hear Tom's heart beating regularly. He must have been sound asleep. He walked past his door, feeling various enchantments on said door and he chuckled lightly before shaking his head.
"Paranoid." Seth muttered.
He made his way to the main living room where a coffee and the Daily Prophet were already waiting for him. After he finished reading and drinking his coffee, he bit into an apple on his way outside. A faint glow on the horizon indicated that the sun was about to rise. He thought of magical children born to muggle parents and maybe had an idea.
If we enlarged Hogsmeade by adding a few houses for these children, there would be plenty of space. What would be missing would be whether wizards could adopt them. It was with this idea that he Apparated to the Ministry, still mostly deserted considering the time it was. He went to see Brian Vulken, the vampire who takes care of the finances. When he got to level two, he heard a man's voice.
"I still haven't received my pay! This isn't normal!'' The man almost shouted.
"You still haven't checked in at Gringotts Bank, Mr. Smith. Also, you lied about your hours worked last week.'' Brian's calm voice said.
''What? But… I'm still here! Ask everyone!' Smith replied.
"Sleeping at the ministry does not count as hours worked. Go see Ramak at Gringotts, he'll know you've arrived.'' Brian said.
Smith groaned, then walked out of the office where he spotted Seth but continued on his way. Seth entered Brian's office and closed the door behind him before taking a seat in the comfortable chair across from his desk.
"Nin còon, welcome to the wolf's lair. How can I serve you?" Brian asked, tucking one of his blonde locks behind his ear.
"Brian, yesterday I heard about magical children being killed by their Muggle parents, and I had an idea. We could expand Hogsmeade and build several houses for them and their future caretakers. Could my project be funded?'' asked Seth.
''Of course, yes. Any project you may have can be funded. The problem lies with the legislature of these projects, as well as… unfortunately, the adoption of these projects by wizards.'' Brian said taking out a blank sheet of paper and a ballpoint pen. "I ask Vincent if he can make a law to help these children, it will already be a start, but then I have to ask the Wizengamot." Added Brian.
"I appreciate it." Seth said. For a few minutes, only the scratching of the pen was heard. "How long have you worked for the ministry?" Seth asked.
"A little over a hundred years." Brian said before chuckling. "You should have seen the faces of the wizards who came to assist the auror who put that mark on my hand. Almost the whole department was in revolution against this idea. Let's just say the Auror who made that gesture is dead now, thanks to you."
Seth chuckled before thanking him and walking out to Sharp's office. He met very few wizards and when he was in front of his office, the door was already opened, and he could hear the scratching of quills. He knocked three times on the open door, and Sharp looked up briefly before motioning him inside.
"Sit next to me, Mr. Vulken." Sharp said. Seth took the chair in front of the desk and pulled it over to Sharp's side before sitting down. "Well, you're the only one who doesn't use magic for trivialities, like all those lazy ministry wizards.''
Seth let the comment go and noticed the stack of scrolls.
"You have a lot of work… how come you have so much to do?" Seth asked.
"Hn. It all started when some department had a related event with my department. For example… security, the aurors, all the stuff… we had to welcome ministers from other countries and as I am in charge of international cooperation, I was given reports of the progress of the events. I made a copy for the chief auror, who then told me that I would only have to repeat what was on the report for future events like this, so I was the one to ask those aurors to come on such and such date.'' growled Sharp before taking another scroll. "But, it's more work…why should I make sure of the safety of wizards who come here? The Department of Magical Transportation did the exact same thing, and by their work, I mean the new students…etcetera, etcetera. Anyway, you're here now." Sharp added taking half of the scrolls and putting them in front of Seth.
''You never had any help?'' asked Seth taking the first scroll on top.
"Yes, but they all end up giving up. They're incapable of doing what I ask of them let alone having any memory at all." Sharp said.
Seth quickly read the parchment.
"We are supposed to welcome Wilhelm Graves, the new Director of Security, today at eight o'clock. It was in the middle of your pile.'' Seth said.
''HA! What did I say? I would then be blamed for not doing my job," Sharp said.
"Wood never came back?" Seth asked, frowning.
Wood was supposed to be on enforced leave for a month since last Christmas. Sharp opened his drawer and flipped through some files to pull out a sheet and hand it to Seth.
"I advise you to be careful… a lot has happened within the ministry, especially with Vincent who brought the laws right in his face. Wood was making incoherent remarks and still seemed obsessed with accusing you of, among other things, the murders of Felipe and Daniel. The problem is, there are plenty of evildoers out there, and I don't think all vampires have a thing for Aurors. Since he was in no condition to work, he was told to stay home for an indefinite period of time." Sharp explained. "Poor thing who was trying so hard to help me with the director's job… oh well… she was so overworked that she overdosed on dreamless sleep potions. She is in St-Mungos, the wizards' hospital, but should be fine in a few weeks.''
Seth had no more questions and Sharp showed him how to respond to certain letters and what to do with reports, as well as write important dates on the calendar. He realized that he had access to a lot of personal information and that some documents could be dangerous in the wrong hands.
"Do you even have the Auror schedule and their locations?" Seth said.
''Yes. I have to schedule the right time to escort certain personalities, and if I don't know their training, status, or whereabouts, it would be impossible for me to assign any for the safety of those personalities. Then these documents are filed in my portfolio, there, which I have with me, at all times.'' Sharp said pointing to a briefcase resembling a small suitcase. He looked at his watch. "Ah, well, we have to go to the atrium."
Sharp waved his wand and all the documents either went to his folio, to his desk, or was neatly filed on his desk. They exited the office and headed for the Atrium. Seth suddenly felt that Corban was waking up.
"Hm...your presence...it's weird, it's like you're next to me. Oh, how I wish that were the case.'' Corban thought.
"We'll have lunch together before your next meeting." Seth replied.
"With pleasure." Said Corban.
"Ugh, those owl droppings." Sharp mumbled as they entered the elevator.
"There's no spell to send a letter flying to another department?" Seth asked.
"Ah sure, but the spells aren't quite ready yet, and some messages end up in other departments or go to another person and causes a lot of confusion." Sharp said.
Corban was suddenly grabbed by Lazarus and Seth heard his voice through Corban.
''NO! NO! NO! SETH! HOW DID YOU... I'm calming down, I'm calming down. Damn it. Come and see me, nin còon, tonight, as soon as you can.'' Lazarus insisted.
Seth had omitted to speak with Lazarus because the latter must have spoken with François all evening, if not all night too.
"I think Seth got the message.'' Corban stammered, thinking it as Lazarus let go.
Corban reassured Seth who brought his attention back to the people in front of him.
"Ah, nice to meet you." Wilhelm Graves said, holding out his hand to shake.
Seth had followed Sharp without thinking and realized that they were now in front of the new Director of Justice. Seth apologized for his inattention and shook his hand. It was then that he realized he felt indescribable hatred from Graves when he touched his hand. Graves had hard, piercing eyes and a square jaw.
"Yes, Graves' father served in the war with Grindelwald. His experience with his father will be of great use to us." Sharp explained.
"Grindelwald?"
"Too bad he can't advise me anymore, courtesy of dear Grindelwald. He's a vampire now, isn't he?" Graves said coldly.
Well, shit.
Why did he have to make wizard enemies?
"Yes… He has a prison sentence in Egypt at the moment. I assure you he doesn't find much pleasure in it there.'' Seth said.
Graves had a twitch in his right eye.
"And you are… the prince of the vampires?" Graves asked in his still haughty tone.
"This title is only important to my nation, Mr. Graves." Seth said trying to contain himself.
Graves took a step closer, and Seth took a step back. Graves grinned.
"Yes, of course." Graves said.
Sharp cleared his throat.
"I'm showing you around the ministry, Mr. Graves?" Sharp asked.
"Wilhelm. Call me Wilhelm, Dominic. And… gladly.'' Graves said.
Sharp said nothing and started walking, followed by Seth and a few Aurors. It was then that Seth noticed that one of them was Alastor Moody. He had no reaction to his presence. His wounded eye had been replaced with a mechanical eye that looked in all directions, but this one seemed to be fixed on him as he stared at him for a moment. Seth could feel the magic radiating from that eye: several enchantments must have been placed on it. He let them pass ahead of him and followed the wizards last, Moody just ahead. He had this feeling that Moody's eye could watch him behind his head. Clearly, Lazarus had given him an opportunity to create something useful.
''Lazarus?'' asked Corban through his thoughts.
Seth hesitated for a moment. Corban did not know what he had done in the past, nor the murders he had committed. The faces of Felipe, Daniel, and Miria flashed in his thoughts, but also that of Gerard Buttler, the first wizard he had killed. Corban remained silent.
"I've done things... some out of my control." Seth thought.
"It's not for me to judge you, Seth. It will never change the fact that I love you, for who you are, for what you do.'' Corban replied.
Seth felt a surge of love as Corban knew so well to send him, ever since they had a bond, and his heart lightened. Corban began to hum. In Uagadou, he had participated in several music groups, and he had sung a lot, especially with little Melody, Merebelle's friend. Seth loved listening to him and now he could hear him through their mental link. It was purely magical.
Corban left for the ministry while the wizards chatted, and Seth had followed Sharp and Graves for another three long hours. One of these hours had been used for the visit of the ministry while the other two were to talk about certain events that will take place and the security necessary to put in these events. When Seth and Dominic returned to the office alone, it was time to eat.
"We will continue the reports after eating. Come back in an hour.'' Sharp said.
Seth didn't need to be asked twice and went to the atrium to Apparate to his home and Corban did the same. They were served by Colpy, their house-elf.
"Never would I have believed there were so many Muggle artifacts that wizards tampered with and altered." Corban said before taking a bite of his meal.
"We are not close to seeing all that is possible, I think. Who do you work with?'' Seth asked.
"Ha… Weasley. Of all possible people! But he is in the intervention with muggles, while I can inspect and repair these objects. It's very interesting to see the enchantments and spells on each of the items." Yaxley said.
They finished their meals and Corban had to ask for a servant to relieve himself of his venom, since he was unable to regulate its amount having only been a vampire for a day and a headache had already started. Seth watched him, also feeling the pleasure Corban got from drinking blood through their bond, but soon realized that Corban was going to end up killing him if he didn't stop.
"Corban! Stop! Farn!'' Seth said in thought and aloud as he approached them.
The servant had fainted, and Corban suddenly withdrew.
"Colpy! Bring a blood regeneration potion!'' ordered Seth after the elf appeared with his call to also disappear after the order received.
Seth grabbed the servant, Matthew, while Corban stammered an apology.
''It's fine. It's my fault...I didn't realize..." Seth began but was interrupted by Lazarus' voice as he walked into the dining room.
"I WARNED you, SETH!" Lazarus thundered. "You weren't to make a vampire without telling me first! We didn't even know what consequences that could have had!''
Seth pursed his lips, giving Matthew the potion which Colpy handed him after he appeared.
"I knew what I was doing. I felt it…'' muttered Seth.
"Feeling or not, you are unique, and you have given vampiric powers to another wizard! We must not... we must not spread this information. You have been irresponsible! Your father will be furious!" Lazarus said.
"Another wizard?" Corban asked, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.
This question earned him a dark look from Lazarus. Matthew came to, half choking on the potion. Lazarus asked a servant to continue to take care of Matthew while he took Seth by the arm.
"We have to go back to the ministry. We'll talk later, Lazarus." Seth said dryly, pulling his arm out of his grip.
Seth took Corban by the hand and led him to the living room to Apparate.
''What other wizard?'' asked Corban.
"Grindelwald. My father made him a vampire to punish him. Two years ago, I gave him my blood and he regained his magic. Recently, he was again imprisoned for sixteen years. He's at the mansion in Egypt." Seth said through his thoughts, not wanting anyone else to hear this terrible secret even if they were still in the castle.
Corban and Seth looked into each other's eyes, knowing now that no more secrets could be kept from each other. They kissed passionately and intensely. Their hands intertwined in each other's hair.
''Don't let Lazarus's words get to you because I will never regret the decision I made.'' Seth thought, not letting his lips leave his.

Gellert stared out the window at the falling rain. He saw in a reflection the vision of a man he did not know. He had an object between his fingers in the shape of a triangle and of a metallic blue color. Runes were inscribed on the object. The vision faded and he heard the sound of Apparating coming from the entrance hall. Anton had used the portkey and assured him that Rosier and Abernathy were with him. The king was away, and Gellert was unsure how Nathaniel would react to inviting wizards into his home, but Anton wasted no time and the door to his office opened, letting in his two former followers. A smirk appeared on his face as surprise washed over the others.
''Now, do you believe him?' Gellert asked.
"Six years...six years of running away, watching others die...and you're really here, in front of us." Vinda said.
"Vampires... are you serious?" Abernathy asked.
Anton closed the door and crossed his arms, his back leaning against the door.
"A much bigger world than we thought. The possibilities just got bigger. I have parallel plans with...my situation." Gellert said, gesturing his wand towards the door, placing intimacy spells.
"You really can't leave this place?" Abernathy asked.
"No but staying confined isn't going to stop me from doing what I want." Gellert said.
"If the king of…vampires has such a hold on you, do you want us to deal with him?" Vinda asked, fire in her eyes.
"Baw." Gellert replied in Venthyr before recovering. "No, killing him would only make his son become king, and despite everything, I never want Seth, his son, to be killed, even if he would have the same values as his father."
''And why is this? Besides, you suggested we become vampires when someone would have power over us?" Vinda asked, omitting that she would have liked to call him crazy.
"The king is doing what he has to because of the wizards who still have some power against them. It was at his request, and mine, that I had to suffer some consequences, but time... doesn't really matter anymore, in my case." Gellert said with a smile.
The others were silent for a moment.
"Do you have a plan?" Vinda asked.
Gellert had a plan before getting the vision, but seeing something gave him other ideas.
"Of course, I have one, even several. I need you to find someone first. I unfortunately only have a physical description, and I think it's a few years away before I find this person with this specific physical description.'' Said Gellert. He then wrote the object he had seen, but he thought it was an invention, so he described the metal and the several possibilities of effects since he had also noticed the runes written on it. "An object, I believe, which has not yet been invented. According to the runes, it looks like an object to control others.''
''Seen? Visions? Do you still have them?'' asked Vinda.
"Since I got my magic back, yes. It was the second. The first was you two, by my side.'' Gellert said. "Before that, I had only one other, repetitive one, which showed me how important Seth was for my future."
"You seem to revere that person just to hear you talk about him." Abernathy said, hoping not to experience the same thing as with Aurelius Dumbledore.
"That's not my intention, Norman. And it is far from the same thing." Gellert said reading his thoughts.
Gellert turned and picked up a quill from his desk before giving it to Vinda.
"Another portkey?" Vinda asked.
''Yes. This one takes you to London." Gellert said, but looking at Vinda's expression, he sneered and took the watch from Anton who had acted as the portkey as well. "Would you be afraid to see your dear husband again? In that case, take this watch back to New York, and await my instructions.''
"Surely I could be of use to you here, right?" Vinda asked hopefully. "Tell the others who only want you back?"
She approached him, very close to him. He touched her cheek with the back of his hand, passing his magic through her and she closed her eyes, as if she had missed his touch so much. His hand ran through her hair, and he tugged on it. His eyes darkened and his teeth grew longer as he brought his mouth closer to Vinda's neck.
"Very useful." Gellert said before sinking his teeth into her neck and pulling her closer to him with his right arm.
A gasp of surprise followed by a moan came from her. Meanwhile, Anton had moved closer behind Abernathy and as Gellert drank Vinda's blood, Anton had grabbed him from behind and also sunk his teeth into his neck. They stopped drinking their blood after a short time. Abernathy pushed Anton away, but lacked conviction as he probably liked the effects, Anton sneered behind him. Vinda stayed in Gellert's arms, a smile on her lips.
"Incredible." Vinda whispered.
Gellert's dark eyes turned ice blue again and he licked his lips.
"And that's just the beginning." Gellert replied.

July 21, 1945, Greengrass Mansion.
Seth was welcomed into the Greengrass mansion by Katherine, Monica's mother. She was still frightened by him, despite the fact that she hid it well. She had only agreed to receive him because he had written to Emmanuel that he finally knew how to remove the curse on their daughter. Monica, on the other hand, couldn't hide her fast-beating heart when she saw him. The last time they saw each other was over Christmas. She seemed fine, although since he knew she had a curse, he could discern that weakness in her aura that François had told him about.
They invited Seth to sit in a living room, and he accepted some wine from Monica. He did his detection spell with one finger now, being able to do it discreetly, and detected nothing wrong and took a sip.
"Are you able to tell us how to do the ritual? Can we be helpful in any way?'' asked Emmanuel.
"No." Seth replied shaking his head. "But…you may know that only a vampire can free a Greengrass woman from this curse and just because I can do it for Monica doesn't mean I can do it for all the women in your family." Seth said.
"And why not?" Katherine asked.
Seth looked at Emmanuel and thought to himself that the patriarch had his own idea, and he pursed his lips.
"Certain circumstances...that I can't talk about." Seth said.
''But…''
"Enough, Katherine. If Mr. Vulken needs to be alone with Monica, so be it and may this curse be far behind us! Come.'' Emmanuel said standing up and taking his wife by the hand.
Seth took another sip of wine, or maybe three. Monica's heart was beating even faster. Fortunately, he had done his meditation and Occlumency sessions well before coming, alleviating his feelings and his guilt well kept behind his thoughts, just like his bond with Corban.
"Where…W-where should we go to do this ritual?" Monica asked as she stood up as well.
"Your bedroom…ideally." Seth said.
Could she blush even more?
"Ah… uh… objects? Um, I mean… do we need any items for this ritual?" Monica asked.
Seth finished his glass of wine, wondering if he should have more, but put his glass on the table before getting up as well.
''No. I'm following you, Monica.'' Seth said.
"Okay." Monica said before turning on her heels and taking the stairs.
If he had doubted that the ritual might not work, his doubts flew away when he crossed the threshold of her room. The walls were covered with various articles relating to Seth's life, and a recent image of him dueling Blackwell had been enlarged. A lump in his throat appeared, knowing full well that Monica's feelings would be destroyed when he would leave her house.
"Monica…" Seth said.
Monica stood in front of him and stared at him, her green eyes raised.
"You…you were never supposed to see my room." She said, picking up a lock of dark hair between her fingers. "Don't go, please."
Not wanting to explain to her what the ritual was all about, he gestured to her door, blocking out the sounds, and put a hand on Monica's cheek before kissing her for a moment. He could hear her heart racing. Monica's hands went into Seth's hair, and she held him back to get even closer if possible. Seth grabbed her legs and carried her to her bed. He kicked off his shoes with his feet, then laid her in the middle of the bed, her head on the pillows.
They stopped kissing, to catch their breath. Monica's slender fingers began to undo the tie Seth was wearing. Seth was holding himself above her, his hands on either side of her head, and he was staring at her. She threw her tie on the floor and grappled with the buttons of his white shirt.
He got up and took off his shirt before throwing it on the floor. Monica took a deep breath, admiring Seth's defined chest. His star-shaped, purple-colored enchantment shone on his shoulder. His wand was strapped to his right forearm in a wand holder. Not without being too muscular, Seth was naturally well built. Monica's cheeks turned red again, and he leaned in to kiss her again, as his right hand moved to her thigh and back up to her hips while pushing her emerald dress. He reached for her underwear and pulled them down with one finger. She lifted her bum, and the panties were removed along with her high heels at the same time.
He picked up one of her bare feet and planted kisses, moving up her leg. He tried to enjoy it, to take Monica in the sweetest way he could manage. She was making sweet sounds to hear, moans of pleasure and comments urging him to continue. He knew full well that Monica was a virgin, and he wouldn't want to traumatize her. His instincts were screaming at him to rip her robe open and take her hard and his fingers trembled as he now pulled her robe down below her chest, revealing two firm breasts.
He was aroused, in spite of himself, and his erection hurt, trapped under his pants. Monica went to his belt and undid the buckle before pulling down the zipper. Seth got off of her to take off his pants and his black boxer shorts while she took off her dress completely. Monica's breathing quickened at the sight of Seth returning to her. He kissed her again, and Monica wrapped her arms around him. His kisses went to her neck, and he smelled her lavender scent.
His eyes turned black, and his teeth grew longer. He groaned and stood up, looking at Monica and all the veins that glistened on her body. She gasped in surprise at the sight of him and fear was in her eyes.
"Are you afraid of me, Monica?" Seth asked.
She swallowed and took a moment to respond.
"A little, I think." She replied.
Seth slid a thumb over Monica's lips, his fingernails also grew long, sharp and dangerous.
"Will you let me take you, Manwa Faer?" Seth asked, getting between her legs.
The air grew thicker, as if magic was taking place in the room. Seth sensed that the ritual had begun and that all the conditions François had mentioned were present. Despite Monica's hesitation, she was truly in love with him. She gave a slight nod and Seth leaned down to kiss her again and with his right hand he placed his erection and went inside her.
She moaned in pain, but Seth waited, not moving, and letting Monica get used to his presence inside her. When her breathing returned to normal, he made another pelvic motion. He massaged her left breast and put his mouth on her right breast, being careful not to cut into her skin with his teeth. Her moans of pain changed to pleasure, and he moved his pelvis more vigorously.
"Ah...Seth." moaned Monica.
Seth placed his hands in hers, crossing their fingers together and, again, he kissed her briefly before going to her ear.
"Cin na- lain." Whispered Seth.
Monica made a rasp sound and a purple substance came out of all her skin pores and evaporated into the air. Monica's heart was pounding under Seth's lips, and he couldn't resist any longer: he sunk his teeth into her skin and the blood, now curse-free, poured into his mouth.
He tightened his grip on her, his hands closing harder in hers and the pelvic movements quickened. She cried out and he felt Monica's muscles tense and her blood grow sweeter. Her orgasm shot through her, and Seth restrained himself, but as his pleasure also was about to peak, he stopped completely. He licked the wounds on Monica's neck and pulled out. He closed his thoughts and shattered his urges, wanting only one thing: to be done with Monica and go find Corban.
"Seth?" Monica said as he was already putting on his boxers and pants. ''Is something wrong? Was I… not good enough?''
"Nonsense, Monica. I didn't do this for me. Don't you notice something? Don't you feel better, liberated?'' Seth said, picking up his shirt from the floor.
Monica pulled her blanket over her, placing a hand over her heart.
''What? Was that it? Was that… the ritual?'' Monica asked unbelievingly.
''You are free. You can have children without fearing for your life. You can live a long, happy life now, Monica." Seth said, weighing his words.
Monica frowned.
"Without you…" she muttered.
Seth buttoned up his shirt and put on his tie.
"Monica. I am not the person for you. I can't give you children.''
''You do not know it! You have a beating heart! And…why wouldn't you be the one for me?'' Monica said with her voice cracking. "I'm not good enough for you? That's it?''
"It has nothing to do with you! Even knowing how to remove that curse from you, I wasn't sure it would work. The vampire who did this on your ancestor had a good reason, and I could've not given a damn about all that, you and your family!'' Seth said irritably, but wanting to trick Monica into not having feelings for him anymore.
"So… you used me! My feelings… everything I felt for you? Was it just to have my dad in your pocket? To get that book I told you about and you threatening my family?'' Monica said as she pulled the blanket over her even more, tears starting to fall down her cheeks.
Seth was not sorry: he had done what he had to do. He put on his shoes and walked out of Monica's room, heading for the entrance hall to Apparate. He was stopped by Emmanuel, his wand pointing at him.
"Why are you running away? What did you do?' Emmanuel asked in a cold, hard tone.
Seth glared at him.
"I am not running away. I did what I had to do. Your daughter no longer has a curse, and you can now have grandchildren without fearing for her life, Mr. Greengrass. It's up to you to honor your word now.'' hissed Seth before walking past him and Apparating.
Emmanuel's hand began to shake, and he slowly lowered his arm. His heart echoed in his ears, and he realized what Seth had just done.
"Thank you..." Emmanuel said into the void.
